sharing a couple of recent pieces of editorial work i've done. i picked up a copy of bust whilst i was in toronto so i could see my illustration - for an article about building your own sound-system - in print. it was nice to be asked to do another image for them. the second image is a larger illo for time out chicago, which was a lot of fun to work on. this one originally had a deadline that was a week away, but as i was going to be heading off on holiday three days later i told them i could turn it in in a couple of evenings (after commuting to-&-from & being at my day-job). a little bit of pressure is fun! this was the end result, & i was kindly sent a couple of copies of the magazine too.
much thanks to lan truong & ian dingman for having me.
getting a job for a magazine is generally a good thing, but it's even better when it's one you actually subscribe to. a little while back i was asked by bust to illustrate a piece on female-hosted sex-positive readings & today i got the issue through my letterbox. haven't had time to read through yet, but am happy to share space with tuesday bassen & yelena bryksenkova, two super excellent illustrator ladies.
Wondering what the moon's up to next year? This Lunar Calendar I designed for Tiny Showcase has got you covered. $25 for 366 moons (leap year!) in a five colour screen-print.

my boyfriend & i like the little city we live in. we have a cosy flat, live close to lots of friends & know of cafés, local shops & creative events that make you feel part of a community. however, lately we've been yearning for a small adventure of sorts, a change of scenery. despite all the great things that make this little city worth staying in, we've decided to pack up & move.
perhaps a little dramatic seeing as we're only heading a couple of hours west, but come mid-september we're waving goodbye to dundee & heading over to glasgow. whilst i'll still be working my day-job here for the foreseeable future, alan has a new job which gives us the opportunity to shake things up a bit. a new flat, a new place to explore & new people to meet. unlike alan, i've not done much moving about, so i'm excited about cleaning out what we don't need, putting things in boxes & having a blank canvas to make our own.
west coast tips appreciated!
a portrait of our cooker for a few days. pasta, corn, fried eggs, veggie burgers & baked potatoes. thankfully alan actually knows what he's doing when it comes to campfires. our pillows smell of smoke.
did not realise how grumpy & disdainful lynxes look until i drew some. just look at this guy.
got a whole bunch of new cards in the shop today. subjects covered include birthdays, babies & bikes. it's been a while since i've made any cards but i wanted to illustrate a range of occasions with more than just the usual text approach i take. i'm pretty happy with how they turned out & hope you like them too.
After some requests for one, I've created a Bolden mailing list. The first update goes out tomorrow with a lil' discount as a thank you - sign up here: http://www.boldenceramics.com/mailing-list
get 20% off your order in my etsy shop until fri 20 january with coupon code HELLO2012. there's prints, cards, notebooks, zines & more - i'll be adding to this over the next few months, but for now you can get a nifty deal on current stock.
after three trips, two months & lots of drawing, my sleeping on the sleeper trilogy of zines are now on sale! so happy & pleased to finally have these all printed & bound. apart from a couple of images, none of these illustrations can be found anywhere else. so if you fancy reading about my various trips to london, brighton & maastrict, head on over to the shop. you can either buy them individually or get all three for the price of two. what a steal!
