oh man, i can't quite believe how close we are to the end of the year already. i feel reasonably organised (so far...) regarding the festive season for a change, so figured i'd help you, dear reader, feel the same (maybe) by letting you know the last posting dates for my shop:
tue 4 december: anywhere not listed below mon 10 december: canada, eastern europe & usa tue 11 december: western europe mon 17 december: uk
you'll need to order by 4pm GMT on these days to ensure i can hit the post office before it closes. if you order before these dates & need things posted out asap then just let me know & i'll do what i can. okay? okay. GO.
a slightly belated happy new year! this little blog has lacked updates over the past few weeks for various reasons (working, living in two places, festivities, getting tinnitus) but i feel it in my bones that this is the year for getting back on track, blog-wise & otherwise.
there have been a couple of big changes that have been stewing for months. firstly, i'm finally living in glasgow. whilst quite a bit of my stuff is still residing on the east coast (including the contents of my desk), i'm now in this city full-time. our new flat is lovely, quiet, bigger, better. we live close to big parks, transport to the city centre, a greengrocers & lots of good places to eat. i'm very excited to be somewhere new.
secondly, something that isn't full-time anymore is my day-job. i'm really happy i can still work part-time (it's a bit of a commute away) but i'm also really happy that there's more time than ever before to spend drawing, making, printing. this is something i've been dreaming about for years, & now it's time to get to work.
2012, i have high hopes for you.
i'm a pretty optimistic person, but i'm a realist too. life is good, but there are some days when positive vibes can just get the heck out of here. for those days, i suggest the above alternatives. full blame goes to kaye & lesley. now i have the word 'WANG' in large black caps in my sketchbook.
havin' a little summer sale over in my shop until friday. hoping that the coupon code name might coax the sun out from wherever it's hiding. enter HELLOSUMMER at checkout & get 15% off, hurrah.
it's been a little while since i've had something new to add to my shop, but i've been busy making some items over the past little while & i'm finally putting them up for sale. over the next week or so i'm going to add one new item every day, starting with one of my favourite things i've created.
this is definitely one for cat fans; a notebook adorned by lots of feline faces. these notebooks feature an original illustration, & are screen-printed & bound by myself. they're pretty therapeutic to make, not to mention the feeling of accomplishment when you have a pile of freshly trimmed books ready to go. they're £7/$11 each; find out a little more about them in the shop.
one last drawing for 2012. happy new year, friends. may you see it in with the people you like the most & with your beverage of choice in hand.
i've been doing a ceramics class since the start of the year & it is so good. as someone who has always found working on things that aren't two dimensional quite daunting, i've wanted to try ceramics for a little while; being able to add & remove clay at will is a reassuring process. i've found that i sometimes spend less time on individual pieces when it comes to drawing - partially due to practice & intention, but at times as a result of impatience. i wanted to approach working with clay with more willingness to deliberate over what i'm doing, to not rushing things & to embrace spending time on a piece (as well as embracing mistakes - i consciously do this with drawing, & things that have obviously been made by hand are the best). perhaps i'll even transfer this process back to illustration. anyway, for now, here are a few pieces made with some techniques i've learned. it's been fun to focus on the methods & on learning something, as well as making tangible objects (& a mess at times). i'm excited to see what comes next.
my boyfriend recently opened an online shop to sell his prints. all bias aside, i recommend you take a look at his work (including the above print, in wild waters). he's had a few sales already, but he's still offering a free mini-print with the next seven orders. go!
I reopened my ceramics shop yesterday! So this photo is already out of date & I already sold a bunch of things, but I'm posting this anyway because better late than never, right? ☞ Bolden is OPEN: http://bolden.bigcartel.com
fresh start! hello, it seems you've found your way over to my new blog. along with a new website layout, i thought i'd try another platform for outpourings. if you wouldn't mind updating your google reader & feeds, that'd be much appreciated.
for any nostalgia trips (just me?), you can see all posts from 2007 to 2011 here.
