i'm in the middle of editing some photos i took of my screen-printing process - it's kind of difficult to be the one doing the printing whilst using the camera! anyway, the above is one of the better images i got. it's just as well i was only using black ink, as i am the worst at deciding on colours to use; ALL OF THEM is often a bad decision in hindsight.
time for a new year sale! this year, alongside 15% percent off your order (just enter code "HELLO2013" when you checkout) i've also sprinkled a few extra discounts around the shop. so if there's something you've had your eye on for a while, now's the time to snap it up - sale ends mon 7 january. GO!
as i mentioned earlier in the year, i'd been going to a ceramics class & i LOVE it. i just finished a second block, & can't wait to start a new one in a couple of weeks. ceramics can be a precarious process - will it look like i thought it would? will the glaze run? will it explode in the kiln? i've been pretty lucky so far. grateful for things going according to plan.
my best friend asked if i'd create a cycling certificate for her. i came up with this perpetual bike design, which i then made it into a tiled pattern. you can use it, if you'd like. (for personal use only, please. remember to download rather than hotlink.)
added a new print to the shop: cape girl is one of my favourite things i've drawn this year, & now she's a three colour screen-print.
speaking of the shop, here's my christmas posting dates. all orders must be in by these dates to allow time for me to package & post them: uk: thu 15 december western europe: sun 11 december eastern europe/usa/canada: wed 7 december elsewhere: thu 1 december (today!)
any orders after these dates will not be guarantee that they'll reach you by 25 december. if you order before these dates (if the postal service is willing to cooperate), you're likely to receive them in time.
one more postage note - all orders made between fri 2 & wed 7 december will be posted out on thu 8 december.
today was spent cleaning out my old flat; mainly our spare room, the studio. after two trips to the recycling centre to offload paper that i've had for at least four years, my paper-hoarding problem was finally brought to light. i found scraps of paper that "might come in handy", & paper that i've used for uni projects but then kept the remnants because i didn't want to bin them. at least my younger self saw this coming; i found a folder of paper titled nice paper to keep even though i'll probably never use it. & what do you know - i found it under a pile of paper that i haven't touched in about two years.
i was justly rewarded for my ruthlessness today. along with the recycling, i took several bags of clothing, kitchenware & art materials to a charity shop, where i found this beautiful teapot. clear-out-karma. joy.
hello sun! the weather is treating us well on the east coast of scotland today & it inspired me to try making some iced tea for the first time this morning. boiled the kettle, steeped the tea, put in some lemon then left it to cool whilst we went & lazed in the park for a couple of hours. added a little sugar & some ice cubes when we got home & there you have it. easy, cheap & a lot healthier than bottled stuff.
lovely little local radishes.
currently waiting on a flight in christchurch so thought i'd share this; i've got a couple of things in issue two of sad girls. much thanks to lovely leah goren for having me.

Ode to an old desk. This was a pretty good space, even though there was usually so much crap around that it made it harder to achieve things.
take a peek at my new website layout, freshly uploaded to the internet last night. a better balance of text & images, & approximately a thousand times easier to update. everybody wins!
speaking of website updates, my lovely boyfriend added lots of new work to his. go visit!
