as an aspiring actor, i have a few things i wanna say. people who make videos/posts saying
“iT’s cAlLeD aCtInG fOr a ReAsOn”
to argue that cis people can play trans roles (e.g. a cis woman playing a trans man) knows nothing about fucking acting in the first place. stay in your lane.
y’all need to understand what a CASTING TYPE is, and what is so important about a CASTING ROLE. this means what kind of person you can play. yes, acting can mean you can become ANYONE….when it’s relevant to do so. it is not for the majority of camera work- for film and tv (and even lot of live theatre also) it is obviously a VERY image based industry, because the acting required is VERY naturalistic.
when working in this way, which is what we are USED to seeing all the time, the people cast in those roles are cast for a reason. because they fit the description. and BECAUSE they fit the description, they are able to do a lot more internal work which therefore ENHANCES their performance to make it more believable. SHOCKING, RIGHT???
say if you are auditioning for a part that REQUIRES you to be a very tall natural redheaded girl, a short-statured, bearded man would not get that part. why?
BECAUSE HE DOES NOT FIT THE CASTING ROLE.
if a role requires you to be an elderly black man, would a 20 year old white man get the part? NO! if a role requires you to be a chubby person 5”6 or under and someone with a gym-built body type tries to audition, are they gonna get the part? NO!
the role descriptions are there to portray a character as ACCURATELY as possible. this is why representation is important.
so when you cast trans people in those roles they are not only making everybody’s job easier, but you are allowing a character to BE that character, not to imitated, to BE!!!
when you cast a cis person as a trans character, you are sending the message that trans people are not trans, they are cis people pretending to be/dressing like the opposite gender, which is what you CHOOSE to portray on screen. which IS NOT RIGHT in any way. trans men are men. trans women are women. non binary people EXIST. stop erasing our identities because of your laziness and ignorance.
i can’t stress this enough. let trans people play trans people.
the b in peter b parker doesn’t stand for benjamin it stands for beautiful change my mind

Venom:
Can we talk about Nebula for a second? She has a wicked metal left arm, which she uses in most of her fights to deadly effect. But in all of her interactions with Tony? She uses her humanoid hand.
When they shake hands.
When she’s fixing his infected wound.
When she passes him the last of the ration.
When she checks on him.
When she places him in the captain’s chair to give him a dignified send-off.
When she’s helping him off the ramp.
They were total strangers when Thanos broke the universe. They spent 23 days stranded in space mourning their loved ones, a sister and a surrogate son, and in their grief, they found an unlikely camaraderie, an unusual friendship built on trust and mutual respect. They saw past each others’ metal armours and found the broken human inside.
I love that so much.
