Saw a comment that said when the CIA is training American spy's, that one of the big habits that has to be broken is the American habit of leaning on things. Leaning on door frames, leaning on cars, leaning their bodyweight on a table or desk. America is a nation of leaners.
Now imaging that Alfred is a habitual leaner. Doesn't even realize he is doing it. If he even recognizes that he dose it, just sees it as a casual and comfortable stance. One that shows he isn't on edge.
Yet there is a decades long debate at the UN and G8 meetings about if Alfred knowingly leans on peoples desks as an intimidation tactic or he really is simply redistributing his weight
i'm sorry for being so depressed
why do i have to wake up
Happy birthday tokoyami!!! đâ¨
I like thinking about what a check-up at the doctor's would be like for a nation. Like they get their knee hit with that little reflex mallet and the doctor is like "hmm, yes, something is up with the railroads in the south."
No but fr it's probably exactly like a normal physical except the doctor has to take into account the state of the economy or politics or any recent natural disasters. I feel like certain symptoms are like this:
Blizzard/cold wave = low body temp, mild frostbite, hypothermia in extreme cases
Capital crisis= cardiac arrest, fast pulse, high blood pressure
Disease outbreaks = whatever disease is widespread
Drought = dehydration, dry and flaking skin, rashes
Economic troubles/recession = common cold/fever, lethargy and fatigue
Flood = vomiting, kidney issues
Famine = malnourishment, hunger pains, eternal hunger
Earthquake = convulsions, dizziness, muscle cramps
Heatwave = heatstroke
Hurricane = dizziness, nausea, vomiting, shortness of breath
Political unrest = dizziness, nausea, headaches, stomach aches, mood swings, high blood pressure, auditory hallucinations, psychosis if severe
Tornado = dizziness, confusion, nausea, shortness of breath
Tsunamis = vomiting, dizziness, muscle cramps,
Volcanic eruptions = severe burns, high fever, coughing smoke, shortness of breath
Wildfires = burns, sometimes actual fire is visible, coughing smoke
And if there are any fatalities, other symptoms will show up depending on the death toll. symptoms such as PTSD, nightmares, hallucinations, and a profound sense of loss.

I see Alfred as being more informed by his interactions with his states, sometimes cities, and also with Indigenous nations.
This is not to say that his interactions with European nations are unimportant especially his interactions with Arthur, Francis, or Ivan.
But when I look at US history, I understand the creation of the US as:
1. An agreement of states, who viewed themselves more of as nations, to form the United States. Before he can even begin to try and sway Francis to helping him in his revolution, he needs to convince his states to join him first, and not all of them were eager for Revolution. Especially given the fact, these British colonies operated differently from one another and were culturally distinct because they operated under salutary neglect (AKA Arthur wasnât super present cause he was constantly getting involved in wars & was cash-strapped)
2. The US being a settler colonial state used war against Indigenous nations to expand its borders through violence.
I find this second point is lost on the fandom especially in narratives regarding American expansion, but also the American Revolution. It always irks me a bit to see the American Revolution as describes as Alfredâs first war, when it wouldnât have been, especially if you are assuming heâs existed prior to the revolution. There were many different wars even prior to the revolution with Indigenous nations involved.
There were also many European wars with North American theaters â the French and Indian War which is the Seven Yearâs War was the precursor to the revolution. Actually lol the amount of European wars with North American theaters did influence this push for isolationism (as in from Europe) following the revolution.
Anyways this confusing ramble is to say, I find the overemphasis on Alfredâs relationship to European nations like Arthur, or Francis, tends to gloss over the settler-colonial violence in North America due to European colonization. Also I find ignoring, or stating Alfredâs first war as being the revolution a bitâŚicky ? In the sense that itâs like people do not seem to view Indigenous nations as sovereign of the settler colonial state thus theyâre not viewing the wars between indigenous nations and the settler colonial state as not being âtrueâ wars as they view wars between the US & European nations.
I also find the fandom tends to just generalize the US as being broadly English in nature, and fails to further examine regional English identities that but also non-English identities that later come form various different cultural groups in different US states. And idk this also leads me into another conversation of why Iâm not a fan of like putting a lot of different identities especially marginalized ones into Alfredâs character but that opens another can of worms that I do not wish to open right now LOL.
also this goes without saying, but im not saying you have to agree with me, nor am I saying if you never had this thought youâre like bad or whatever, Iâm just stating my views lol
Please Stop
Anyway I'm done catching up with My Hero Academia, here are my 2 cents:
Heroes shouldn't have families.
In my personal opinion, Tokoyami deserves more spotlight and development.
And I'm not just saying that because he's my favorite but he's the character who has been most alluded to as a crucial, interesting, or strong character.
Examples:
-To start, he's got a bird head and that apparently has nothing to do with his actual quirk. We don't see canonical examples of him exhibiting avian behaviors even though the fandom Really Wants It, so he's not like the characters whose quirk is "frog" or "rabbit". It doesn't seem to affect his entire body, just his head that is so strange. I want to know what his family looks like, if they're like the Todorokis and the Asuis and they all have varying degrees of bird.
-His actual quirk is Dark Shadow, which is unlike the other quirks seen in the series. He has a sentient being living inside him that can communicate and has feelings and he can Sometimes control it but can lose control of it. Not to mention it was suggested that Dark Shadow gets more ravenous when Tokoyami has negative emotions of some sort. He doesn't seem to actively 100% control Dark Shadow and asks Dark Shadow when he needs to engage in some kind of combat or attack. There is no indication of where it came from in terms of familial lineage.
-He is consistently noted as a very strong character, within the ranks of Midoriya, Bakugou, and Todoroki. He did very well in the entrance exam and the sports festival. No one ever escaped Fatgum's fat until Tokoyami did.
-On that note, Tokoyami had an Entire Thing about going to rescue Hawks because he cares so much about his master. He was crying over Hawks and yet he doesn't show up again until several chapters later. Why.
-Both Tokoyami and Bakugou were captured by the League of Villains because they had something of interest to them, but Tokoyami was freed.
-Almost everything about Tokoyami would give off the impression of someone who's malicious and evil. Very dark, avidly enjoys dark things, has a Shadow Monster living inside him and stronger in the dark. But he's fundamentally good at his core, not wanting to harm others.
-Also the fact he likes goth things and dark things but he can't really be in absolute darkness because of Dark Shadow. That's so ironic. He can't go out in daylight because Dark Shadow is weaker but he can't really go out in darkness either because Dark Shadow can Wreck Havoc.
-There are examples that suggest that Tokoyami and Dark Shadow know more than they may seem to lead on.
Tokoyami just has so much potential to be a critical character why haven't they done anything with him yet.
#1 fan of any American character in a diverse cast unless you are as well then we can share
