so it happens on a mission that aku gets hit with an ability

he didn't meant to be hit

he honestly wasn't in the range to be hit, it was just... well he saw it go towards the jinko and his body just reacted. it was just practical that someone without anxiety got hit, yeah. that's what he was sticking with.

-

he wakes up in a room not his own, wearing kitty pajamas he does not own

he reaches for rashomon, she does not reach back

he grabs something as a makeshift weapon and walks out, ready to claw his way away and-

"ryuunosuke you... you wear the pajamas i got you?" atsushi

he whirls, atsushi is standing there with coffee cups in his hand, one he's sipping from and one he's holding out to aku

he makes no comment on akutagawa's makeshift weapon

akutagawa, from pure confusion ends up spilling, in his "what the fuck is going on jinko"

he's a college student here, roommates with atsushi -- they've been friends for two years now... atsushi, though confused at first and offering to call his doctor friend who's "only scary when she wants to dissect you!!" but eventually he decides that it must be true becuz this aku is very different from his own aku though his personality is still pretty cute -- like when they got in a fight and aku slapped his hand away and atsushi said "ow" cuz it hurt and he just stopped and apologized for the whole day -- seemingly surprised that it would hurt him at all

a few days in this dimension though,

-

akutagawa wakes up in another bed

he's not traveling to another dimension -- he's travelling through multiple dimensions

this one he wakes up in a small apartment, he looks around for atsushi but he isn't there -- he's confused and disoriented and he gets dressed, is extremely lucky that this aku's phone has the same password as his own, and tries to follow this aku's steps int he hopes of gaining some balance

this aku always visits a coffee shop -- it's written into his calendar and schedule

aku considers ignoring it -- but a flash of white catches his eyes and he walks in, and there behind the counter with a pleasant smile

he doesn't know why atsushi turns red when his face unwillingly melts into something at someone familiar or why he stumbles and trips when aku calls out to him (careful not to use jinko when last atsushi didn't have powers and just Stared at him)

he stays at the cafe wondering if its a coincidence that both universes had atsushi this close

probably

he watches atsushi anyway

a day into this universe and then

-

he wakes up in a warm bed, comfortable, the sun on his skin from the window, a warm body behind him, an arm over his body-

he jolts up

atsushi jinko

blinks awake, sitting up and with him asking whats wrong and aku's eyes land on a ring

a ring on atsushi's finger "YOU'RE MARRIED???"

"uhh yes dear, we're married um are you sick?"

akutagawa does not faint

a week of domestic bliss

-

and he wakes up to a pleasantly aching body and atsushi sitting on the bed reaching for his shirt

he hides himself under his blanket, face red as the dots connect

and muffled under his blanket he asks if theyre dating

theres a heavy pause

then

"ask me when u havent just had an orgasm... when ur serious"

and a few minutes later the door clicks shut

akutagawa pulls himself out of his blanket

lays there

and in a moment of something strange, writes down a note for this dimension's him to ask again

and then over and over again from one reality to another

for weeks or for a few hours

one atsushi to another atsushi to another-

every universe that he goes in, in some he's happy, in some he's about to reach happiness, and in some he has nothing -- and its all because of atsushi

and at some point he gives that universe's akutagawa's number to atsushi becuz he knows it'll bring light into this miserable reflection for him

or he leaves a note to try try try

but over and over

until he wakes up with a teary eyed atsushi

how has he never realized...

all the atsushi's were lovely and pretty and perfect but his... this atsushi

he sits up to reach over the bed and melt into a confused atsushi's arms

just for a moment

/

now did various aku's pop up in canon verse aku's body leaving a confused atsushi wondering if this is another aku and aku has to like convince him that he's actually his aku lmao

/

also it was

college/roommates au

cafe au

married au

fwb au

and a bunch more but i got tired of thinking

If their association status ever changed to something more amiable, Dongsik continuing to call Inwoo Inwoo-yah is more realistic than him starting to call him Inwoo hyung—because, in their case, their dynamic is more important than their age.

Why did the Remnants of Despair do that?

Spoilers for Danganronpa 3 (obviously)

Why Did The Remnants Of Despair Do That?

I've made it very clear that I really like Danganronpa 3 and that I think a lot of the criticisms are unfair or misguided. One common criticism however stuck with me for the longest time. In Hope Arc, after Hajime and his friends helped put an end to the Future Foundation killing game, they proceeded to seemingly "cover it up." On the surface, this seems strange. The series constantly criticized Hope's Peak for covering up incidents, so why is this any different? After some time thinking, I think I managed to put together why.

Why Did The Remnants Of Despair Do That?

At first, the video starts with the Remnants of Despair seemingly taking credit for the Future Foundation killing game. While technically, yes, Kazuo Tengan was a Remnant of Despair, he was completely disconnected from the rest of the people in the video and had no affiliation with them. However, it's the next part where this gets interesting.

Why Did The Remnants Of Despair Do That?

Now despite what you might think, there is a LOT to dissect in these four lines.

"If the world were to be saved and reach a happy ending... Doesn't that strike you as boring?"

Obviously to anybody who has watched Hope Arc, this line is kinda ironic considering it generally has a pretty happy and sweet ending. However, what's important to note is that to the general public, there wasn't a happy ending. A majority of Future Foundation's leaders were just wiped out and the Remnants of Despair are still presumably on the run. So why would Hajime say this? Well I feel like the next bit of text should fill you in. "That is why we will once again dye the world in despair. The world needs despair." This line is REALLY interesting to me as it directly ties into one of the major themes in Danganronpa 3. Throughout Future Arc, Kyosuke believes that the only way to achieve true hope is to eliminate all despair. However, Makoto (and Tengan) believe that despair needs to exist alongside hope in order for hope to be meaningful, otherwise it's meaningless. True hope isn't blind happiness, it's keeping a positive mindset while overcoming despair. This sheds a completely different light on what Hajime is saying. He isn't just taking the fall so Makoto and his friends can move on without trouble, he and his friends are taking on the burden of despair as a way of atoning for their actions as remnants. This way, everyone can unite against them. They're making a sacrifice so that way hope can continue to manifest and have meaning.

Why Did The Remnants Of Despair Do That?

This is shown again later in Makoto's final conversation with Kyosuke. When asked if he is able to carry the burden of hope, he mentions that the others are carrying the burden of despair. Now things are starting to make sense. Hajime and his friends decide to hold onto the burden of being despairs as a way to atone for their crimes and give the world something to unite against, choosing to sacrifice their image in order to help make the world better. The difference with Class 77's sacrifice here and Hope's Peak behavior is that Hope's Peak covered up incidents that were their fault so they could protect their image. Their motivations were entirely selfish and only to benefit themselves. Meanwhile, Hajime and his friends sacrificed their own reputation in order to help give the world hope in a strange, roundabout way along with taking accountability for their own sins. They aren't pretending to be innocent, they're acknowledging their own guilt and using it to benefit the world.

Why Did The Remnants Of Despair Do That?

I also think that Makoto and his friend's reaction to the video is pretty interesting. They don't seem very excited, but more confused and shocked. It's almost like they're still trying to why they did this in the first place.

Why Did The Remnants Of Despair Do That?

After a moment, they move on from that subject entirely. Byakuya tells Makoto that he did well and his hope helped in the end despite his refusal.

Why Did The Remnants Of Despair Do That?

Despite that, despair unfortunately did take a toll on them. Even still, it can't be denied that hope did win in the end because of despair, further showing that the two need to coexist. Things may look bad now, but just like, always they'll get better. Makoto and Byakuya both realized what the point of the video was. In a way, the video was more like them taking accountability for everything they've done as opposed to just the covering Future Foundation killing game.

Why Did The Remnants Of Despair Do That?

The former remnants finally head off to Jabberwock Island to continue their atonement, making one last sacrifice and carrying the burden of despair. I hope what I wrote can help you see Class 77's actions in Hope Arc in a new light. Like I said, a lot of people have criticized them, but in my opinion I think it's a very fitting and satisfying way to end their arc. (Now's the part where I make a "Goodbye Despair" joke.)

Neil, and my headcannons.

He's absurdly good at things like poker. Like, insanely good. Not only because he's able to cheat and hide his emotions super well, but also because he's a mathematic god to me. Stuff like that relies bot on luck, probability and skill, so Neil manages to almost always win.

Because of this, he's always seen with Allison and Nicky in bars, gambling. They just let him destroy people for money that they'll use on drinks, and he entertains himself with the game.

They both call him "The little ace" as a reference to his sexuality, too

I feel like making a kakegurui au now, shame.

He's also a huge plant lover. He finds the fact that now he can literally grow roots so funny and scary.

Because those plants are his, see? They're growing in his house, the one he shares with Andrew, and they're beautiful and he feels like tearing up everytime one of them blossoms

Neil is also the math tutor of the foxes. Specially the new ones

"LISTEN, IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO BE ALLOWED TO PLAY IT HAS TO BE FOR S GOOD REASON, LIKE- BREAKING YOUR LEG OR SOMETHING. IT'S NOT GOING TO BE BECAUSE OF MATHS. COME HERE, BRING A NOTEBOOK"

He's not very charming but he is very patient so he manages to make em understand to a certain degree.

He's unbothered by fashion. But he never wears too much gold.

Because "Fuck Jeremy Knox and his army of care bears"

He gets confused with an underage person quite often.

He and Andrew, actually.

Sometimes, when he can't stand the touch of other people, he brushes his fingers along Andrew's clothes instead

He knows the language of flowers!

He also knows asl

In like, five different languages

One time he almost adopts one of those colorfully brigth and loud parrots, because in his mind, he always associates birds with Ravens. Then he remembers sir and king

He's the nicest person to kids. Like he changes his whole demeanor. He always imagines little Andrew and Renée, and how some kind words can impact in someone's life

He constantly donates to orphanages. Andrew does too, but he never says anything about it

Ichiro is like "You're really spending the 20% of money we give u in random kids?"

Neil very happily nods

"Maybe you really are crazy"

He joins Dan and Matt the day they start buying stuff to make their house a foster home (because Matt has decided to be s stay at home husband now) and he is so scared because they asked him to be there, and he isn't quite sure what the fuck he's supposed to do

But he very quickly starts pointing out stuff

"See, this door needs some better locks. Door always need better locks"

"I would hate a mirror this big without something to cover it sometimes"

"...take that iron out of the kid's bedroom. Trust me. Bad idea"

He is incredibly good at sewing. One time, he makes clothes for the cats

I have more but have this for now

The romanticisation of cannibalism in fictional media might sound disturbing at first but then you've got Vampires, which have been romanticised for a long time. Vampires are just cannibals on a liquid diet.
