Today I learned that Van Halen have that rider in their contract about “a bowl of M&Ms with all the brown ones removed” in order to know at a glance if the promoter read the entire contract.  And the reason they do THAT is because they once had a stage collapse because a promoter hadn’t read the proper way to set up all the specific technical stuff.

So if the band goes in the dressing room or catering and sees brown M&Ms, they know they have to double-check the stage setup for safety.

The first pride was a riot, more specifically a riot against police violence. Trans women like Miss Major and other people of colour paved the way for the celebration of pride today. You cannot celebrate your pride this month, or any month if you aren’t also supporting Black Lives Matter and the riots going on against police violence right now. Us white LGBTQ+ need to stand up for our black siblings and their rights, their struggles. We need to amplify their voices and show any support we can. (Edited to add links and make the image clearer)

A Confession

The real mind fuck about me is, I've been accidentally fucked over by someone. A long time ago. I see redflags, but I always give people and events a second chance to be different; to do different. I've made several mistakes by looking at a track record and thinking if I'm kind and compassionate this human might use that chance to work on themselves. I'm not forcing or expecting a change, I'm just giving them the safe space to possibly do better even when all evidence says otherwise. I've broken my own heart, I've disappointed myself, and I've even put myself in the worst circumstances thinking with compassion. And that's why I'm being emotionally conservative. That's why I'm distant from getting involved in anything emotional. I no longer have much of that energy to give intimately

Here’s to the ones who are not brilliant. Here’s to the people who question the very purpose of their existence, like I do. To the ones who feel like they do not belong, to the ones who feel they were born in the wrong century, in the wrong galaxy. Those who are full of insecurities, worries, doubts and fears. Those who feel crippled with paranoia and trapped in a meant coated skeleton. There are people like you and me, equally messed up, their souls equally complex and bruised. They too spend Sunday morning and afternoons gazing at clear blue skies, trying to connect to their real self, looking for something to free them, to save them, waiting for miracles while sipping coffee. These people too are lost like you and me, their minds wandering aimlessly through forests and alleys, and places and countries,hoping to make sense of their own fucked up existence, hoping to be significant. Trying desperately to love themselves with the self love they are told is the only cure, but failing miserably, horribly. So, on those evenings when your body and soul seem like two separate entities, when you feel exiled from the home within your own heart. Know,I have been there too and it will be okay, it will get better. It has to, right?

Brown Eyes

Can we talk about brown eyes? Like, they're so pretty and seriously don't get enough credit and in books they're always described as either mud, dirt or chocolate and it's so mundane. Brown eyes are freaking gorgeous. Holy fish, they aren't even brown. They are copper against honey and they're sunlight through a bottle of whiskey and they are the color of earth after it rains. They're hazelnuts and gingerbread men and chocolate brownies and they're the feeling of the feeling of coming inside from the biting cold and wrapping yourself in a blanket on the sofa and they're cocoa and tea and coffee. They're cinnamon and ginger and cassia and the dust from a horse's hooves and they're so damn beautiful it blows my mind that people think they're common and boring.
