this is probably an unpopular opinion but i’m excited for bangtan’s collab with halsey.
she’s supported them for a long time now and i don’t think she’s using them for clout like previous western artists have.
i know she’s been problematic in the past and it’s not my place to tell people how they should feel about that, but she’s human and i believe she’s grown from her mistakes.
as a mixed, openly bisexual female artist who has spoken out about her experiences being bipolar and who continuously and consistently writes meaningful songs regarding her own personal struggles with relationships, fame, and her own self-image, i’m excited for what she and bts can bring to the table.
i just get annoyed at how quickly certain bts fans “cancel” other celebrities (especially female celebrities) at the tiniest whiff of something problematic and then bash bighit’s collab choices.
we’ve already established that members of bts have done problematic things in the past, but we forgive them because we recognize that they’ve matured and learned from their mistakes. but y’all can’t do that for halsey? ok.
listen to her less mainstream music and get back to me on how she only writes stupid tumblr teeny-bopper songs. songs of hers such as gasoline, control, hurricane, empty gold, and selfie have really helped me through hard times and i believe at her core, halsey is an artist who puts a lot of care and meaning into her songs, and who is also interested in being an advocate for her communities.
hearing bad at love on the radio?? where halsey openly sings about having dated men and women?? on the RADIO?? MY BISEXUAL ASS WAS SHAKING!!
but some of y’all are so caught up in bashing her that you can’t even recognize her good qualities, huh?
Day twenty three - What do you do when you need comfort? Peak comfort for me is having a cozy space to destress in before bed. Given that I study and work from home, it can be quite hard sometimes to unwind in the same space. This is why my bedroom is a no-work zone and is where I thrive in comfort lol
it feels like these two words are interchangable but then I wondered if they’re similar to “many and “much”, with similar meanings but used in different contexts. so I had to look it up and it seems theres is a bit of nuance to them!
매우: very 아주: very, completely, a lot, a step above 매우 너무: too, or excessively 완전: completely 정말: really, truly 진짜: really, genuine, more informal than 정말 (but not by much) 되게: (not to be confused with 되게하다 which comes from 되다) strongly, so much, very much
너무 is typically used is negative situations (too expensive, too spicy, etc) and 아주 is used with positive situations. Now people have started to use 너무 positively or sarcastically like how you would say “shes too pretty” its framed negative but its a compliment and positive, this is more casual and close to slang so its used like this in informal contexts
the difference between 정말 and 진짜 isnt much theyre pretty synonymously used it seems but 정말 means more being truthful (정 for truth/right 말 for speech) and 진짜 is means like genuine (진 from 眞 for genuine 짜 for a thing) so I guess you can think of it along the lines of ‘for real?’
Learning a new language is like downloading an expansion pack to your brain that allows you to interact with new characters from different lands.
this is how i spent all of autumn break. in my dads mock-studio which is just a bright room in our summer house (honestly the light in there is magical). studying economics until my eyes bled.
slowly falling into a productive routine and making lots of progress in contracts. i try to get even the smallest amount of work done each day, even when i feel demotivated or sad. sometimes the process isnt always pretty, aesthetic, or particularly inspired, and often it feels futile. cups of coffee and slices of apple cake i baked help. the thought that small progress is still progress helps. i know im doing much better than i did when i first started law school, and thats what matters.
Hey y’ all
I hate to ask, but recently my father was diagnosed with cancer. We are so thankful it’s treatable, but even with decent health insurance, the bills are adding up fast.
Furthermore, my father is the primary caretaker for my younger brother, who has significant disabilities and health issues of his own. As a result. any help that can be given won’t just cover the cost of cancer care, it will ensure that my brother’s health and safety needs will be covered as well.
For personal safety reasons, I do not have a large social media presence. Even if you are not in a position to donate, please share this post so that it reaches as many people as possible. I am so incredibly grateful for any dollar amount given and any share across any platform. Every little bit will help.
