In literary/cinema mediums, when a character extends their hand in friendship while hiding their other hand behind their back, that can actually symbolize tension between trust and betrayal
The hidden hand means the character is hiding something, literally or metaphorically. A weapon, a scheme, an ulterior motive. It signifies that their friendship is likely a trap
TLDR Maddie was always hiding something and the writers hinted at it the whole time
Fuck that bitch leprachaun
I just watched anora and immediately went to search for what the directer's interpretation of what the ending was and suffice to say I really don't think that is a good explanation.
Anora is a sex worker, we see how in the times she's with Ivan she's doing that, that's what she knows how to do. We aren't told much about her life but from what we know about sex workers it can be a traumatic livelyhood. For example I think her going by Ani is possibly a way for her to create a persona so the emotional toll of what she's doing doesn't affect her as badly.
Throughout the first hour of the film she's living this fantasy life and she's probably thinking now she can get out. However when Ivan's parents disapproval come into the picture that is shattered. The whole time she's looking for Ivan and getting the annulment she's actively fighting against it as she does not want the fantasy to end. This is also where her character comes into play she's strong and independent. She wants to be taken care of but realistically you've only got yourself in this world. Her character directly contrasts Ivan. He's a childish playboy who just wants to party and piss off his parents. His parents defending his every action and Toros cleaning up his fuck ups does not help him at all either. He does not stand up to his parents because he knows hell be cut off, he can entertain the idea but never truly live it. (referencing when he proposes to Ani) All this to say he's a spineless mommy's boy and unfortunately Anora would not have gotten her fantasy life from him.
This brings me to the ending. I'm not gonna generalize her I'm just going to analyze based off of her actions in the movie. Also what happened between her and Igor I'm gna label as the car scene.
Anora has insulted Igor the entire time however he is still nice to her because ultimately she got screwed over and put in a situation she did not ask for. And even after he's still helping her driving her home when Ivan just screwed her over and used her. She obviously allowed herself to get comfortable and allowed herself to get feelings for him. She's emotionally drained and probably traumatised. Throughout her time with Ivan she was sleeping with him. I heavily disagree with the director saying she slept with Ivan to "take back her power" and symbolizing her "entering into a new relationship where she has control"
That implies what she had with Ivan was a relationship. It was not. I think the poor girl was so traumatised from the situation and this guy was being kind to her, so she did what she thought she should to thank him. I that situation he just sat back and let her (i also don't like him in that situation) HOWEVER he did stop when she started broke down. And I think it was because him trying to kiss her was the first shred of humanity she was shown since she met Ivan. He was simply kind to her because unlike Ivan he didn't want anything from her. Which I don't think she's experianced much. The entire time she was referred to as a prostitute, hooker and escort. Meant to demean and dehumanise her. Ultimately the whole ordeal was dehumanising and I think she reacted in a way that was normal to her. Except this time it was much worse and she ended up breaking down.
The main issue with season 2 and the writers condensing 4 more seasons into 1 is they lost the plot.
The 1st season introduced Zaun and Piltover and the class divide between it.
Vi and Jinxs story begins as a result of It. Jinx literally says herself the cycle of death began long before her and vi, long before silco and Vander.
In the alternate universe it's so good not only because hextech was never invented but also because Heimerdinger was there for over 1000 days(can't remember the exact amount) before ekko even got there. And I'm assuming after spending time in the undercity he truly saw the changes he needed to make and used that time to make those changes. However the problem with Heimerdinger is that he was content to stay there and ultimately forsake his original world. Which just proves to us he's perpetuating the ongoing cycle of selfishness from the council. Which is unfortunately a characteristic of oppressors. Selfishness and a willing to forsake a people in order to uplift and protect their own. And that will always be what seperates Zaunites from those who live in Piltover. Ekko couldn't stay there it was too selfish to forget about the problems of his own world and steal the life of that reality's Ekko.
The main conflict of season 2 ends up being Viktors eugenics story and Ambessas grasp for power. When that ends we see Piltover rebuilding with Sevika taking a council members chair. While that is nice, what should have happened is the arcane arc and we had another season to explore the problems between Zaun and Piltover being fixed and Zaun becoming a thriving part of Piltover.
I won't lie I'm one of those annoying people who prefers reading the physical copy over the digital copy. Especially if it's a story I Iove. Id much rather own the physical book and be able to come back to it whenever I want then having it on something digital. what if the thing breaks what then? And I know backing up stuff exists however I do not have the time nor energy to do that. I'd rather own a physical copy. For me it's much more stimulating to have the book in my minds. And if that means I have to wait to read the stuff I wanna read, thats fine I don't mind waiting because it means I get to appreciate it even more.
(I'm also a download over stream person but I don't have a laptop to be able to do that anymore. It's so much better to own a copy of something rather than borrow it like streaming does. It's leading to losing so much unfortunately)
they won't tell you this in therapy but sometimes the best way to stop catastrophizing/anxiety is to interrupt your spiraling with "girl what the hell are you talking about"
I need a collection of short stories that are just Juliette and Marshall's gossip sessions. I need to know what they talked about.

okay so I'm a chronically online teenage girl who loves analysing anything and everything and recognizing patterns with people. And there's several things I've noticed as of late. and this may be all over the place because it is late but I need to get this out of my head and put it somewhere. this is also a long post I'm so sorry
The rise of Whataboutism, fandom spaces becoming main stream and how it ties to the internet. (I fear this may be already talked about but wtv please let the other analytical people find this and discuss with me)
So there's this phenomenon I've noticed on TikTok (please don't come for me but I've noticed it's largely Americans too) with Whataboutism. I'm going to use a more literal example that I've seen with my own two eyes. Someone will post a recipe and it will contain coriander. Someone will comment "what if I don't like coriander?" (I've noticed this especially on non-western recipes too) Or someone will draw a beautiful ship fanart and someone will comment "love the art hate the ship!" Or "imagining this is x ship"
And it drives me (and others probably) insane because just scroll, don't comment.
ANYWAYS how does this tie to fandom spaces?
Well recently since around 2020 I have noticed fandom spaces growing larger. (I have been in fandoms, using wattpad since 2018 I believe HP girlie's unite) And it makes sense everyone was inside so we could only engage with others online and therefore already established online communities would grow larger. However this also meant that people who have never engaged in fandoms are now joining. Which means fandoms are becoming largely mainstream. Even "mainstream" fandoms becoming more mainstream like marvel, DC and Harry potter.
And this isn't only limited to fandoms I've noticed this with reading now too.
I started watching MHA back in 2020 and let me tell you the fandoms were shit. Then in early 2021 I discovered the dreamsmp and oh my god that was another shit show. Everyone was online and that meant everyone was in this vacuum of "contraversies" it gave me a headache I remember literally only using discord and YouTube bc of all the drama.
okay sidebar done sorry.
What does newer fandom members mean? Well it means people who haven't engaged in fandom culture are now reacting in a new way to this new community. Which leads to ship wars blown out of proportion and people getting wayyy too involved. And people posting spoilers. Yes fandoms spaces are a fun way to engage with other people who have similar interests as you especially if you don't have many people who share the same interests. But this also means people live in a bubble where you are only engaging in like minded individuals and not talking to others who oppose your thoughts and opinions. Which is important to grow as a person. (I know fandoms are meant to be fun but if you're critiquing media you have an opinion and opinions can change)
this is sounding so pro conservative IM SORRY I'M SOUTH AFRICAN I'M NOT AMERICAN NOT PRO CONSERVATIVE I'm just trying to say listen to other people in fandoms with an open mind when they talk abt why they may ship or dislike a ship. That relates to anything and everything too regarding opinions, theories etc.
As we know the internet is a vacuum and algorithms mean you will see content you like. So you will only engage with like minded individuals. So you will not generally hear thoughts, feelings, opinions of other fandom members unless you go searching for it. It's a similar phenomenon to the gym bro/trad wife to alt right pipeline. So on top of your internet being directly curated to you. Meaning you essentially live in a bubble both online and in real life. You're also becoming increasingly individualistic. Resulting in shit like "Well I don't like this ship so this doesn't concern me" okay fair but babes scroll. Like it genuinely confuses me why people don't just scroll, even when I was even more chronically online than I am now I would just not interact with shit I didn't fuck with? wtv I wna touch on reading spaces since I've been into reading since birth
Also there was the "reading isn't political" bit a while ago. Which is so fucked. I think fandom culture and generally "nerdy" hobbies and interests becoming mainstream due to online spaces growing in 2020 did a number on already troublesome fandoms. Like the does it contain smut thing on TikTok. People liked reading smut as a relaxer which fair, so they joined online communities to find more book recs and other people. Which made reading as a hobby grow and dark romance grow in popularity. This then led to a once relatively small portion of the overall book internet community growing into something much larger. And because the internet is a vaccum this meant they were only being recommended smut books or they just enjoyed it. But didn't consume in moderation so obviously they got a bit addicted. So now they were in other spaces within the book community. I understand that reading for some is a form of escapism however you cannot turn off your brain while reading, this is not a show. I actually cannot relax in any way while reading or watching a show because I am analyzing and paying attention. Reading will always be political because in some parts of the world you weren't allowed to read because you are a woman. ALSO I understand these communities existed beforehand and I'm not trashing smut (I like reading smut as much as the next person) But now because of the overwhelming popularity of these different spaces and as well as these people living in vaccums it's becoming a tad insane.
I'm losing braincells I'm so sorry I feel like I'm rambling.
OVERALL
living in a bubble is bad for your brain. Give your brain a break maybe indulge in other hobbies where you can switch off your brain. like baking or running or gardening. I also think this has ties to seratonin and being stuck inside making us all sad so this stuff gave/ gives us our dopamine hits so we get too emotionally involved. But even though I am in a biology elective I am wayyy too uneducated to delve deeply into that. Anyways touch grass and realise nothing (regarding fandoms) is ever that deep and in a few months/ years you'll wonder why you were so high strung abt this stuff. If you like reading take a break from the smut, read a whodunit, (me personally I love Hercule Pirot) and touch grass.
Also if you thinking reading isn't political crack open a history book about a topic but from opposing sides and tell me its not political. Read a poem.
No bc the only way I survived not having any arcane content for the last 3 years was forcing myself to forget the show existed. Genuinely even though it's one of my favourite shows.
On TikTok specifically I've seen high school AUs where they make jayce and vi dumb and their handwriting illegible too.
Guess people forgot jayce literally invented hextech and vi isn't dumb tf.
SO THIS IS MINEEE
Jayces handwriting is kinda average, can be messy at times but it's legible. He's also the most organized with his notes (that boy signed every page of his work) he has designated, colour coded notebooks for each subject AND matching files for loose notes and homework.
Vi is 100% an eng lit /history nerd (twin). That girls handwriting is neat similar to Jayce. However she's just like me and sometimes will have gorgeous colourful notes and when she's lazy her notes will look average. However her study notes will be messy and all over the place. She also has one massive semi - organizedfile for everything that adds 2kgs to her schoolbag.
Cait is one of those girls, pretty aesthetic notes, colour coded notebooks and files (jayces influence). Her handwriting is always aesthetic. But she forced herself to learn to write prettily. Her handwriting used to be atrocious as a child.
Viktor is one of those people that doesn't put effort in bc he doesn't have to. He has 2 pens the entire year, his notes are messy. But yk damn well he somehow manages to keep everything organized. School is for learning and he doesn't see why some people bother making their notes pretty so it's one colour all the way through.
Mel has that pretty semi cursive handwriting. She'll use highlighter occasionally but doesn't do too much. Her favourite subject is 100% business studies she's gna start a business or be an investor.
Jinx has 3 notebooks. 1 for when she feels like doing work in other subjects. 2 for technology and physics. It's the only books she has consistent notes in. Her handwriting? Chickenscratch. Which is ironic because you'll see her work for art and it's beautiful, even her lettering will be calligraphy.
(rushing ekkos bc I've gotten lazy)
Ekko is similar to Viktor, he has his notes, he keeps up to date with his work. However being friends with jinx has resulted in his notebooks being decorated with notes and drawings from her. He also has doodles in his notebooks too.
It is such a weird experiance growing up "ugly" or "weird" esp if you were still considered that at like 14/15. Because now I'm 18 and suddenly I'm hot all of a sudden? Like yall find me attractive? Idk if maybe I'm maturing into my facial features and body but idk shits weird.
I noticed something about Mel at the end of season 2.
Throughout season 1 her make up is purple eyeshadow
While she was kidnapped by the black rose obviously it came off.
When we see her put together again it is after her mother died and she is taking up the mantle.
We can see she still has her purple eyeshadow, however the red under her eyes matches her mother.
Even this photo here Mel is adorned and dressed like a general however she looks so small and childlike compared to how her mother looked there. She's taking up as little space we humanly possible. She's not imposing like her mother was she's struggling to fit into this role.
And someone like Mel who struggles with identity will first dress and look the part in an attempt to transition into this new role better.
So she dresses similarly to her mother, even changing a small detail as her make up to match what her mother was. However we still see little bits of Mel in her identity.
She's come to a point where she's realised in order to be a Medarda she does not have to be the exact same as her mother or elder brother. She can still be herself and be a Medarda. She's still not entirely sure who she is, but she's getting there.
I really hope they explore her journey in noxus as I'm so curious as to how the Noxians will react to their new general who is also a mage and how that will tie into the overall story.
Since we keep getting "live action" CGI remakes of already perfectly adequate animated movies, and because people need to understand that animation is a medium and not a genre, I have prepared this primer about the importance of Visual Language for Conveying Information.
Can you tell what the personalities of these two mice are?
Can you tell now?
Which of these two tigers feels safer to be around?
Which of these three dogs is the funniest one?
If you can answer these questions, then you already have experience with the idea of visual language and stylistic choices being used to impart narrative meaning. If you can understand why these choices were made to impart meaning, then you can understand why animation is a medium for telling stories that has its own inherent value, and is not merely a "placeholder" for the eventual implementation of photorealistic presentation (aka "Live Action" CGI). Animation does not need to be "corrected" or "legitimized" by remaking it into the most representational simulation of observable reality.
No, because what do you mean Arcane has completely rewritten the rulebook on queer representation in media, and it did it so effortlessly that it puts so many other shows to shame. Like, how are you going to tell me this animated seriesâostensibly a spin-off of a video gameâhas given us some of the most nuanced, unapologetically powerful sapphic characters ever without reducing them to stereotypes, side plots, or, worse, trauma porn?
Vi and Caitlyn? Their dynamic is ELECTRIC. Youâve got Vi, the rough-edged, fiercely loyal, scrappy brawler with a tender side that could wreck anyone emotionally, and Caitlyn, the sharp, principled, deeply empathetic enforcer with a heart of gold. The way their relationship is built on mutual respect and trust while navigating all the insane, tragic chaos around them? Literal chef's kiss. And not once do we get the tired, lazy "coming out" narrative or the "but what about the gays?" rhetoric. Their queerness isnât the storyâitâs just a beautifully natural part of who they are. And THAT is revolutionary.
And letâs not even stop there. This show handles gender like itâs been waiting for everyone else to catch up. Characters like Sevika, who could give you chills with her sheer badassery and gender-nonconforming energy, exist unapologetically without the narrative ever feeling the need to spoon-feed us explanations. Itâs just there, woven seamlessly into the fabric of the world.
So many shows claim to want to "normalize" queer relationships or push the envelope, but Arcane has quietly dominated the space by just writing characters who feel authentic. Their struggles are about class, power, loyalty, trauma, not token representation or forced diversity. This show said, âWeâre just going to make some of the most layered, compelling characters youâve ever seenâand oh yeah, some of them are gay. Keep up.â
Like, the bar wasnât just raisedâit was launched into the stratosphere. What do you mean this level of representation isnât the norm yet? Arcane said, âWeâre not asking for permission to exist. Weâre just existing.â And that? That is art.
Jinx's traces of make up after she has cried looks like Vi's face tattoo but backwards and they both have it in their left cheek.
Besides, her final look and outfit resembles her sister's in S1 and S2. The bandages covering her chest and the new hairstyle with the shaved undercut on the same side is also similar to Vi's.
After all it seems like Vi and Powder cannot coexist in the same timeline or dimension. When Powder lives, Violet doesn't. When Vi lives, Jinx decides not to. "Always with you, sis".
The parallels, the attention to detail and the design for each character in Arcane is insane. I can't believe this amazing series is over. I'm gonna miss these sisters like they were my relatives.

please please please can someone recommend me arcane fics where the alternate reality exists with vi alive plz plz plz i need it rn đ đđđ
bonus points if it has zaundads, meljayvik, caitvi and timebomb
my dumbass can never be normal about shows. I always have to get stupid amounts of brainrot.
I rlly wna get into the batfam but it's lowk intimidating and I don't have the money to buy the comics. All ik is Red Hood is Jason Todd who unfortunately died and came back a little bit off. Oh and Nightwing has a fat ass.
Because on first watch, I expected this was going to be something negative. Ekko trying to defend why he'd been so hostile to Powder. 'You're not the kind of person who helps... because you destroy things,' or something to that effect.
But no.
oh
What a way to look at Jinx?? Even with everything she's done... He looks at this well-adjusted, 'ideal' Powder, and still thinks she's missing something that his Jinx has. The Powder that he knew was so determined to make something that mattered... it's a Powder who's content to play second-fiddle to the people around her, a Powder that settles that feels off to him.
And that ties into why he can't stay here. Our Ekko isn't the kind of person who settles either.
I just realised it is officially 5 days until Christmas and I haven't felt any Christmas spirit at all
this fandom has a serious problem with whataboutism. it doesnât address any of the criticisms and only seeks to divert the topic- bad faith arguing. like pointing at timebomb/jayvik anytime anyone criticises caitvi for being toxic/abusive, it is very shallow since dynamics and characters are completely different in those ships. or going âambessa/silco are much worse than caitlynâ. are people just not allowed to criticise anything because there are worse characters/ships?
.
I just realised that some people don't know that silco isn't actually there in the scene where jinx is in jail and having that epiphany. It's also not silco speaking to Jinx it is her own subconscious. It's just taken the form of someone else speaking to her. And I don't think that was a hallucination either I genuinely think jinx imagined silco speaking to her in that moment to make sense of what was going on and to bring her comfort.
Edit:added smth I forgot I wanted to say
It's important to me that people realise jinx is emotionally intelligent enough to come to that conclusion on her own. Yes she has lost it but she's still an intelligent person.
