Sunday afternoons were your favorite. The tranquil quiet of the street was in stark contrast to Saturdays when tourists would filter into the shop, talking and laughing as they checked out the crowded shelves and warmed up on their way to one attraction or another.

Hogwarts House Crisis

Me: Pshhh! I’m not part Slytherin, I’m a full on Ravenclaw. Pottermore rarely puts me in Slytherin.

Also Me: *Re-starts every card game on my phone if I don’t like my cards just so I can win.*

Me Again: *Trying to chase my life dreams at the young age of 15*

Me the Third: *Wants to move out of the house because my family is irritating and I want to leave the house and provide for myself and live by myself and avoid annoying people*

Me the Fourth: *Loves every Hufflepuff out there*

(No hate to slytherin though, I just have always thought of myself as a Ravenclaw)

For so long I’ve been trying to understand what exactly in Narnia made it the story that affected me in the most profound way in my young life and continued to stay there, gently nestled in my heart, for the entire duration.

Not Harry Potter, nor Lord of the Rings, but this weird little story about a girl and her stupid brother and a wardrobe and a lion, followed by this other story about this boy who always yearned to see the North only to discover he was the long lost crown prince (the Horse and his boy will always be my favourite Narnia story).

When I think of Narnia, the country, I think of the joy of discovering that things you find impossible yet beautiful could indeed happen. That there’s comfort for every aching heart, that if you long for something – something more, something gentle and sweet and at the same time great and fascinating and daunting – all your life, that means that this is where you were always meant to be.

That your bravery will be rewarded, that it is not stupid to believe in justice and to believe that people could be honourable and kind. That it’s okay to be naive when you’re young and it’s okay to trust people. That it’s okay even if your trust was misplaced, definitely don’t shut yourself out if you make a mistake, because you will be forgiven.

In our world, we’ve been taught to fear things since we were young. In Narnia, we were taught to trust ourselves.

In our reality, girls are punished for being too trusting or too pure and naive when they are kids, they’re taught by worried mothers and by society to be guarded and jaded and to expect disappointed and harmed, but in Narnia, Lucy’s pure heart and her faith in goodness were rewarded.

In Narnia, greatness lay in kindness and courage, whereas the alignment of our world is a bit askew and you’re supposed to be cunning and smart. These qualities aren’t bad, definitely not, but it goes unspoken that they’re supposed to contradict the first two qualities.

Most importantly, in Narnia you don’t have to wonder if God is real, if you’re protected. You know it. You’ve spoken to God, you’ve seen Him and it gives you this sense of rightness that all Narnians seem to have, and this sense of comfort and goodness the people in our world who doubt or don’t believe, don’t have.

If I have to sum up why I love Narnia so much even as an adult, I think it would be this: because, if only when you’re thinking of Narnia, you truly believe that it’s alright to trust your belief that there’s something More in this world, that you were born to be comforted, that it’s alright to be kind and courageous and gentle and this doesn’t mean that the world will fuck you over. That it’s alright to feel safe. That some higher power has your back and loves you and supports you and helps you. That it’s okay to trust yourself. And in these moments, when you think of Narnia, you feel Narnian, and that’s the best feeling in the world because you finally feel like you’re allowed to shed all your heavy, heavy layers of doubt and anger and cynicism and guardedness that the real world makes you wear. And you’re free. And when you go to a forest and you hear the wind rustling through the leaves of the trees, you don’t feel like you’re alone, you feel like you're home.

Ok, I'm not okay. I just saw someone on TikTok saying that the worst thing is that we'll keep getting older, but the fictional characters we love won't grow, they will stay their age.

So I just realized that Edmund was 18-19 in the last book of the chronicles of Narnia and I'm 17 rn. I will be 18 next year and then 19 soon. Now I just wanna cry in my bed.

don’t you ever find yourself talking about how much edmund’s life changed after he was manipulated by the white witch? besides from becoming a king in a magical land where animals could talk he always tried to do his best to prove himself that he had changed and he was still chased by the fact that he almost hurt his family, even when everyone had already forgive him, he felt like he wasn’t doing enough and it physically hurts to know that. i think i proved my point

Modern!Making a Gingerbread House Would Include...

A/N: i’m posting twice today to make up for not posting yesterday lmao, so uh day 2 of christmas (even though it’s day 3)

Both you and Edmund attempt to make gingerbread houses every year

It’s one of your favourite traditions during the Christmas season with Edmund

A few days before you two go shopping, you two would go online and look at inspiration for your decorations

“Oh, look at this one Edmund!”

“Y/N, I love that you believe that we’re this talented with gingerbread house making but we aren’t.”

Once you two settled on a theme, you would go out to the store and get a gingerbread house starter

Once you were home, you would play christmas music while Edmund unboxed it and looked at the directions

You and Edmund being somewhat clumsy putting the base together

“Careful love.”

“I’m trying, my hands are shaky.”

Once the base was together, you both would start decorating

“Okay, you do the roof and I’ll start the front.”

You humming to the christmas songs while making the windows

edmund being lowkey good at decorating

“Why are the windows... lopsided?”

“Uh... A for effort?”

Edmund eating the gumdrops once the icing was on

“Stop eating the decorations!”

“But it’s good!”

The gum drops and other candies kept slowly slipping off

“We need more icing.”

Edmund applying more icing

By the end of finishing the gingerbread house, you two would wash your hands

“You know, I think this might be the best gingerbread house we’ve made.”

“Even with the lopsided windows?”

“Especially with the lopsided windows.”

You would laugh at Edmund’s encouraging teasing and you’d pull him into a kiss

Suddenly you two would hear a crack and something falling apart

When you guys would turn around you would see the ‘best gingerbread house so far’ in pieces

Both you and Edmund would glance at each other before laughing at your failed attempt
