i want to talk more seriously about the fact bruce wayne has been canonically diagnosed with ocd, and i want to make a huge masterpost pointing to actual comic panels and junk, but the stuff i actually end up thinking about with regards to the subject is something like this:
bruce probably has intrusive thoughts about the sudden death of his children, which is, uh, fucking scary to deal with to say the least, and one of his compulsions is simply to check in on them. y'know. to make sure they're alright. if he can see they're literally alive right in front of him, the thoughts lose their teeth and it just becomes a matter of countering it whenever it comes up.
so the kids get used to these seemingly random check-ins. maybe they understand it's because of the ocd or maybe they don't, i would hope that bruce would be open about that but we're talking about bruce after all. but anyway. when dick was old enough to start going out a lot on his own, the check-ins would take the form of texts.
it started with something like... "where are you?" which to bruce seemed like a perfectly innocent question, but being on the other side of a random "where are you?" message is uh. concerning! so dick had to explain to bruce that that was a surefire way to give somebody a panic attack about if they were supposed to be somewhere and forgot somehow... so, it became more like "you okay?" and it would go on like that for a while. it comes off as very... needy from the outside, probably, but that's okay.
bruce does these check-ins with all of his kids as they come into his life - it got particularly overbearing and frankly frustrating after jason died (you know, the exact thing he was afraid would happen...) but by the time of, like, cass joining the family, and then especially once jason turns out to be alive again, he's able to ease up on it. and technology evolves pretty rapidly, y'know? so...
bruce's check-in texts morphed into sending his kids absolute barrages of heart emojis, and the first time he decided to do this, it made everyone concerned that he was replaced by a martian somehow. but no. it's perfectly logical to bruce, he loves his kids, heart emojis express love... what is there to be confused about!
anyway, this has been my vision, thank you for listening to my ted talk.

Okay I’ve said this a bunch in my tags and to some friends, but Dick Grayson’s temper is unironically my favorite thing about his character
You’re probably thinking “Lucy that’s insane why would you love the thing he’s most ashamed of???” and let me tell you my dear friends, it’s because bad anger issues is the PERFECT foil to all of Dick’s positive traits
Dick is very outwardly perfect. He’s kind and polite to everyone he meets, he very easy going and laid back, he’s funny and insanely charming, he’s handsome and can basically befriend any one. So him having a really bad temper clashes HARD with the rest of his character traits
Dick can jump from 0 to 100 real quick when he’s angry, and his anger problems were always something he struggled to over come and had a lot of different ways to keep himself grounded so he didn’t snap at people
Most of the time it was pacing, doing gymnastic moves, removing himself from the situation if he knew he couldn’t handle it without blowing up
He’s also broken a lot of thing. The panel of him braking his car radio lives in my mind rent free.
Dick as always been an explosive character, so it would make sense that his flaws would also be explosive! The intensity of his rage always matched the intensity of the other ways he expressed himself, and think when they stopped making it so prevalent in his character he became a lot blander.
So basically what I’m saying is; DC give Dick his feral rage back!!! He’s not the same without it!!!

By popular demand (hi Nawy) I’m making a separate post for that bit on the latest Chuuya post that I cut out about Chuuya’s relation to emotional vulnerability, and how fics exploring this could be really nice. (For clarity, I cut it out because I didn’t think it flowed with the rest of the post, even if it is related to it.)
“There is a part of Chuuya that wants to be treated kindly without expectations - real friendship, an equal dynamic. It's notable in the particular moments that actually endear him to a person - the Flags going out of their way to give him information about his past simply because they're his friends, Adam trying to cheer him up by giving him hope about finding out his identity from N, whatever happened to result in his unshakeable trust in Dazai. You could even make an argument for the way he frantically and instinctively reached out to hold his own younger, weaker clone self in his arms as he died. I keep thinking about @originalaccountname’s desire to see more fics that focus on Chuuya receiving care and allowing himself to not have to always be the strong one. I'd like to see this too tbh, but not just because Chuuya deserves to feel comfortable enough to open up these vulnerabilities - but also because the entire notion of such a thing would be deeply conflicting to him, I believe, and that could make for some intriguing character study.
See, that no-strings kindness runs completely counter to the self-concept he has and that image of himself he's built up as "the one who does the protecting". Favours are no problem, because those don't dig into his inner self and can be easily repaid. But when it comes to more personally meaningful gestures, he's not great at accepting them, and tends to respond in one of two ways: getting defensive and looking for the "trap" or "catch", or briefly reacting with gaping surprise or muted happiness before immediately bottling that up with feigned irritation or indifference. I'm of the mind that it would take a long time to get him to the point where he could accept personally meaningful kind gestures and, god forbid, anything to do with emotional support, because in the end, it seems like he has a much easier time taking betrayal and pain in stride than acts of care. Chuuya expects danger. Kindness without expectation towards his person appears to be more shocking.”
A lot of the fics I’ve been working on involve tackling this particular contradictory aspect of Chuuya, but unfortunately they are all wips and for some reason do not write themselves. I highly encourage anyone who likes doing character study type pieces or just likes to see their favourite characters get some affection to play with this concept a bit. There’s a lot there to work and play with!
