Luke: You Know What Strength Is? Forgiving A Person Who Hasn’t Even Said Sorry.

Luke: You know what strength is? Forgiving a person who hasn’t even said sorry.

Deckard: Not to be dramatic, but I’d literally rather die.

Heyyyy, I was rereading your incorrect quotes, and you mentioned that in the twins AU, Hattie dyed her hair blond to separate herself from Owen. Can we see how that went down please? Owen must've been so hurt!

Hey! Have to admit, I wasn't the person who came up with the idea! Someone on my stream did (sorry I can't remember who!) and I absolutely loved it. I think it could make perfect sense and have been dying to use it!

~~~
Hattie glanced at Deckard, but didn't see any kind of emotion on his face as he drove. That was the thing about her older brother
He could always tell what she was feeling, but she couldn't tell what he was thinking if he didn't want her to
Annoying bugger
"You said mum wanted all of us there?" She asked quietly as they went smoothly through the streets of London
"Yes, Hatts. All three of us."
Hattie nodded and looked out the window. They didn't say anything else
After a little while, they finally arrived at an upscale restaurant. The type their mother always preferred
One of their mother's men met them and drove Deckard's car away, leaving them to enter the restaurant
The place was empty and made Hattie feel exposed as they walked past so many empty tables. Most of the lights were off, except the ones shining down on a single large booth in the corner
Already sitting were their mother and her other brother
Queenie and Owen looked to be in a heated debate as she sipped at her wine and he demolished the bread basket
"What the bloody hell are you two snipping about now?" Deckard drawled as they approached the booth
"Your brother thinks he could pull a job off by himself. I keep telling the little bugger he needs another person."
"And I keep telling you to stop underestimating me." Owen snapped
Hattie bit her lip as she saw her mother and brother glare at each other. She might have been away from her family for eight years, but things didn't seem to have changed. Those two would always argue
"Ah! Hatts, love! About time you finally came to a family dinner." Her mother huffed at her
Hattie smiled at her, knowing the guilt trip when she heard one
"Come, come. Sit already you two!" Her mother waved at them impatiently and scooted over
Hattie slid in next to her, while Deckard sat next to Owen
Who hadn't taken his eyes off Hattie since their mother had started talking
She met his stare
His eyes roamed over her face and seemed to keep going back to her hair. He raised an eyebrow in question, but Hattie simply raised on back. If Owen wanted to ask, he would have to verbally do so
There was too much bad blood between them for her to communicate like they used to
"What's with the new look?" Owen asked casually, leaning back in the plush seat and sipping at his own wine
But Hattie could see the confusion and hurt in his eyes
He was asking why she looked so different from him
Hattie held back her sigh
When Deckard had run and Hattie had made her choice to leave the family, she had taken a long, hard look in the mirror
And decided she didn't want to even look like the criminals her family had become
So, she had dyed her hair blonde, cut it, and curled it so it wouldn't anything like Owen would wear his hair
They had both been born with nearly black hair. Growing up they had purposely worn their hair identically so people would get them confused
Hattie wouldn't ever admit it, but she missed those days
And meeting Owen's eyes, she could see he did too
Smirking, Hattie shrugged
"Wanted to try something new when I went undercover. Think I'll go back to the way it was."
Owen nodded and his expression smoothed. But next to him, Deckard narrowed his eyes. Sending him a sharp look, she shook her head slightly
What Owen didn't know wouldn't hurt him
Hello Omni and Happy Friday! Can we have an AU where Owen succeeded in his heist, but he and Letty have to team up with the crew years later
Happy Friday friend! Oo! Oo! I've never even thought about an Au like this! I love this idea!!
Dom glanced over at Luke as they both stopped in front of a door
It had been a long two years since Luke had shown up on Dom's doorstep asking for his help. But ultimately, they hadn't been able to catch their man
Eventually, Luke had been taken off of Shaw's case and given other people to track down. With Dom and his crew helping, they were given their full pardons
But, now with Cipher running around, making them and Luke fugitive, they would need some extra man power. They didn't have a lot of options, but Dom was sure this wouldn't be a dead end
Or, at least, he hoped it wouldn't be
"You sure about this, Toretto?" Luke asked. "She still might not know who you are."
Dom shook his head. He could remember the way she had looked at him the night of their last race
Letty knew who he was
"Let's get this over with." Dom grunted
Luke nodded and knocked on the door
After a few moments of waiting, the door opened, revealing a man shorter than both Dom and Luke
Dom frowned and raised an eyebrow at the man. He was wearing a large sweater that seemed to swallow him whole, while reading glasses perched at the end of his nose
He didn't look like someone Shaw and Letty would associate with
"Who are you?" The man snapped, his body tense
"Friends of Letty Ortiz and Owen Shaw." Dom said simply
The man narrowed his eyes
"Why are you here?"
"We need to talk to them." Luke said shortly. "So, if you don't mind stepping aside..."
The man snapped his head up to glare st Luke and for a moment, Dom was sure the smaller man was about to pounce on him. Now that, would have made for an entertaining fight
"Deck?"
Dom tensed as he heard Owen Shaw's voice drift out from the apartment
"Everything ok?"
Dom raised an eyebrow at "Deck", who let out a sigh and opened the door for them
"Your friends are here, Oh." The man shouted back and walked deeper into the apartment, ignoring Dom and Luke
Stepping into the large and extremely clean apartment, Dom balled his fists. Sitting on a couch was Shaw and Letty
She was spread out with her head in Shaw's lap. Dom could see several small braids in her hair as she sat up
"What the bloody hell are you doing here?" Shaw snarled as he rose to his feet. He stepped in front of Letty, shielding her from them
"We're just here to talk." Luke said firmly
"About what?" Letty asked as she stood as well, shoving Shaw out of the way so she could see them
"I don't care!" Shaw snapped. "Get out!"
"Not until we talk." Dom growled and took a step closer
"About what?!" Letty nearly shouted
"We need your help." Luke said plainly
Dom could see Shaw's face slip and his anger be replaced with confusion. He and Letty glanced at each other for a long second, almost as if they were having a silent discussion
"With what?" Letty eventually asked, her eyes narrowed
"We're being hunted by an international terrorist and need you to help us take her down."
"Who is she?" Shaw asked
"Goes by Cipher-" Luke started to explain before Letty let out a frustrated huff and punched Shaw in the arm
"Of all the fucking people!"
"Ow! Bloody tits, Let!" Shaw yelped
"I don't know how, but this is your fault!" Letty snapped, poking Shaw hard in the chest
"Oh, please." Shaw rolled his eyes. "I sleep with her once, and suddenly she's my responsibility?"
Dom blinked
What?
He watched as Letty and Shaw kept arguing back and forth. He couldn't help but wonder what they were to each other
But, if they did agree to help take down Cipher, then just maybe he would get to learn about the odd duo
I hope you enjoyed friend!
There is something that really intrigues me about Damian Wayne's year by year development. Because every year, he's different from the last. Personality wise, his behaviour and his perspective of life changes irratically.
First there is his 10 year old self. Damian is very proud and arrogant. He doesn't care for any of his siblings or family one bit. Not even Bruce. What he cares about is Batman's mantle. He prides himself on being the son of The Dark Knight and Talia al Ghul. And that's why he wants his father to see his potential, and deem him worthy. He is cold and dismissive. He also doesn't understand emotions really well. Nor does he care for others'. He is unlikable and people tend to steer away from him. Damian Wayne doesn't get bothered by it. He hates stupid people anyways. It doesn't bother him. It doesn't. He is ignorant.
Then there is his 11 year old self. A few months after coming back from the dead. Yet he's still scarred, physically and emotionally. His mother's betrayal simmers inside his heart, throbbing. It's a new feeling for him, hurt. But he tries his best to ignore this feeling. He isn't very succesful. He has spent almost a year with Dick Grayson as his Batman, and took acting classes. He's better at showing his emotions, now. He has pets and he finds himself caring very deeply for them. Although he's still trying to adapt to his father's Batman. Damian feels... dissapointed. Bruce is very different from Dick and it shows clearly. He is anxious.
Damian is 12 years old now, and he has managed to create deep bonds with his family (some of them). He also has new friends now; Colin, Maya and Suren. He learned to have fun and find hobbies for himself. He is still distant with his mother. But he finds that best for himself and others around him. The hurt slowly dissolving, yet still there. He still fights with people and tend to keep away from them. At his last months of 12 years old, Damian gains a best friend. Jonathan Kent. He finds Jon to be a bit much but still enjoys his company deeply. It's weirdly endearing to be his friend. Life is going better than he ever expected. He is, for the first time in his life, happy.
On Damian's 13th birthday, only Alfred remembers. He bakes him a silly colorful cake and makes him wear a stupid party hat. He loves it. He thought he'd be sad or angry when his father, inevitably, forgots about it. He isn't. With each passing year he finds himself getting closer and closer to the old man. Damian finds him comforting. Alfred is always there no matter what. A constant in his life and although he'd never say it out loud, he thinks of Alfred Pennyworth a father figure. Jon and him now go by Supersons. A silly name that makes him smile just a little whenever he thinks about it. He now knows what love is. He loves Alfred Pennyworth, he loves Jonathan Kent, he loves Dick Grayson, he loves Stephanie Brown and he loves Maya Ducard. He sees them as not a family, but a part of himself. People actually start treating him well and seek out for him. It doesn't last long though. Alfred dies, and his family breaks apart. His father blames him, and so he leaves the manor. He now lives in a safehouse, and goes after criminals. He doesn't know what to do from now on, so he waits for the right moment. He is devastated.
A few weeks before his 14th birthday, Damian Wayne leaves Gotham. He no longer wishes to live in this hellhole that harbors the best years of his life. He seeks out his mother in an attempt to reconnect with her and finds more than what he asked for. He doesn't tell anyone of the hallucinations. No one. He is dead. It isn't real. Not anymore. His mother sends him to an island full of people like him. Murderers, psychopaths and assassins. He meets an unexpected old face. And surprisingly, he makes friends. After dying yet again, he finds himself drawn to it. The moment when Flatline ripped his heart out of his chest, he felt terrified. Not of death, but of Hell. That doesn't happen though. He doesn't go to Hell. He doesn't go to anywhere really. The death itself didn't even hurt. He feels... lighter. It might sound sick, but Damian feels better after coming back. Almost like a punishment of his past sins. It cleanses him inside out and he seeks for another. A few days later Hawke breaks his neck and kills him. Again. And Damian finds it hilarious, since it was the same way that Alfred had died. He doesn't care for the death. He finds himself not hurting anymore. Not scared. He makes even more friends. They have so much in common with him... Damian Wayne feels death, and finds it freeing.
So The 27th Of February Marked The Two Year Anniversary Of My First Character Ask, And Because I'm Sentimental,
So the 27th of February marked the two year anniversary of my first character ask, and because I'm sentimental, I decided to do a complete redraw of it. Of course, because I procrastinate like hell, it took forever. Oh well, I still enjoyed it, and now I can finally move back onto the other thing I was working on.
This also coincided surreally with me reaching 800 followers, so thank you all. I didn't think I'd ever end up breaking 100 let alone 800.
*Also, I want to link you back to this post, which helped me immensely with the shading process. Thank you @geek-png !
Pennyworth R.I.P. REVIEW!
image
The biggest flaw of Pennyworth R.I.P. is that it’s trying to be a character study without understanding the characters.
Character studies that suck at being character studies massively annoy me, because they can ruin the perception of the characters for lots of people that don’t know better, and that’s pretty much what this is.
Tim wouldn’t be happy to get a call to a funeral.
image
They ignore the disconnect between Jason and the Bat-Family when he still uses guns.
image
Alfred didn’t baby Damian.
image
And they might as well not have included Ric if he wasn’t gonna be Dick.
image
But I’d expect no less from James Tynion and Peter Tomasi. It went pretty much how I figured, because they always ignore Jason’s actual relationship with the Bat-Family, Tynion never understood Tim, and loves melodrama to seem like his work has substance, while Tomasi just babies Damian to pander to people, and forcing sympathy, just to force some likability out of cheap places for him.
This is shown best in this moment:
image
I just don’t feel like Jason Todd would do this. He’s not a jerk like this. He murders, he’d probably torture, he wanted revenge, but inside his heart is still that of a heroes (ignoring those ooc comics where Jason’s just a generic villain anyway), he cares about people as people, he should understand rushing in of all people. He isn’t a petty pisspants. Jason’s actually quite calm most of the time. He’s angry in very specific situations. Yelling at people like this, doesn’t feel like Jason’s style.
This reeks of Tomasi’s typical style of “Aww feel bad for Damian” in general as well as just making character’s be jerk to Damian randomly to make them look bad for Damian’s sake, and Tynion’s useless melodrama to at least seem like he can write drama, when it’s just cheap and over the top instead.
Damian being the only one there when Alfred died is already a traumatic experience. They didn’t have to make Jason out to be this unrepentant ass to show that. It reminds me all to well when Tomasi did the same thing to Tim to make Damian seem more in the right to beat him up. Except this just makes Jason all the more crueler given the context.
For some reason as well, Tim’s Red Robin when he should be Robin in a flashback.
image
So did they retcon that away AGAIN?
This is like– the, hmm, 1, 2, 3, 4,– 5th time they took Robin away from Tim in some manner.
This is ridiculous at this point.
It’s trying so desperately to be deep, but since no one really acts like themselves, it’s just forced. It can’t be actually deep in regards to the characters when the characters don’t act like the characters.
This comic follows the trope of remembering the best memory of the one that passed, and it just feels like a parody at some points, because of how ridiculous or forced it gets. That trope is a trope because it’s a natural thing people do, but they just tell these mostly random stories that don’t feel right because half of them are out of character anyways.
It is also completely ridiculous how it follows the trope of everyone acting out, because they get so pissed so fast it’s just idiotic. It’s so rushed, like the writers felt they had to get to these moments and raced to it.
image
I think Damian’s flashback is the worst when it comes to really forcing sentimentality, almost purely because it’s set in the beginning of Damian’s time as Robin with Bruce, and they just have Damian and Alfred act out of character to give them these cutesy moments that would be out of character no matter where in Damian’s character history.
image
image
But especially back when Damian was still barely not murdering people all the time.
Like can Tomasi stop ruining Damian’s character? He’s the most overrated writer Damian ever had, because he’s constantly just using pandering to hide that he isn’t that great. Damian is still learning to not be crazy here given the time in the flashback. Why is Tomasi acting otherwise?
Damian isn’t a normal kid and that’s the point.
What’s the point of his character growth when they act more and more like he didn’t need it? They always do that or have everyone ignore Damian’s actions half the time which makes him avoid proper growth. It’s tiring.
Tim’s is idiotic because it focuses on something so random when Tim and Alfred actually had sweet moments quite often. They played video games together,
image
Alfred helped convince Bruce to buy (Tim’s then girlfriend) Ariana’s Family business so she could stay in town,
image
he even looked after Tim when Tim was forced to go to a boarding school by his dad Jack Drake,
image
Alfred freaking drove Tim around in a van to fight crime when Bruce was away even.
image
They had lots of sweet moments already seen, but they focus on something so less personal, and more just random.
image
Continuing some idea Tim isn’t that involved with the Bat-Family that much ever, an outcast he was even called once. When he used to be the Bat-Family’s heart.
Jason’s is the same way with it’s choice of story sort-of. His story is so random, short, and unemotional that I feel like it was just an excuse to have Alfred crash into a building with the Batmobile rather than tell a story with a lot of meaning besides a quick “aw” and “ha”.
image
Barbara’s is the best. It doesn’t feel too forced, mostly just figuring out where Alfred got the time is the only reason id feel that way, but it actually focuses on a sentiment that feel legitimate, like these characters would actually do this.
image
It actually feels like a story that she would bring up. Something the previous stories were lacking. This feels like a natural story to tell, and it makes it the best part of the whole comic. It’s emotional, sweet, and sentimental, in all the right ways.
Dick’s doesn’t really have a lot to do with Dick, but it’s nice. Not too much to say about it unless I missed something.
Most importantly of all Alfred’s death feels meaningless because DC’s habit of shock value takes away any emotion, and it shouldn’t have ever happened.
Alfred been a character that everyone recognizes as part of Batman for decades and decades. So loyal and iconic. A character everyone can write, and killed for a story that no one likes, and all he gets is a crappy one-shot that seems like it didn’t have the right thoughts put into it.
I would’ve rather have read an extended version of Barbara’s flashback, because it had class.
This is contrived mediocrity that tries so hard to convince you it understands the characters and that it’s deep, emotional, with all this substance, but without the tools it needed to make it work.
With such an unneeded death, this was never going to feel emotional or deep, but a lack of understanding of the characters only makes it worse.
Closest they get is Tim trying to step up and help Bruce, but it’s done in that typical Tynion style of “Look at how great Tim is”, and it just gets soiled cuz it feels pretentious. Tim’s a boy doing his best, but he doesn’t come off that way the way he gets written here. It’s a veil of past Tim, but it doesn’t have the right heart.
Alfred deserved better.
Deckard: Love is dead
Hattie: you are literally making a Valentine’s Day card for Luke right now
Deckard, pointing a glue gun at her: you’re on thin fucking ice
4 years ago
Thank God it's Friday. So I have two requests. Request #1: Can I have a Rowen where Roman and Owen are secretly dating and get caught by Deckard with Deckard threatening Roman and Owen calling him out on being with Hobbs
Roman wiggled through the window and fell to the floor, letting out a grunt of pain
"Shh! Be quiet! I can't let Deck know you're here." Owen hissed at him in the dark
Roman simply rolled his eyes
Why did he have to get with a guy who was too lazy to find his own place and decided we to live with a brother that probably wouldn't approve of their relationship
Standing up, Roman groped around for Owen or anything to tell him how to navigate safely around the room. Feeling Owen's arm, Roman moved closer to him and whispered
"Tell me again why we aren't just staying in a hotel?"
"Cause most of my stuff's here and I don't want to leave wearing the same clothes tomorrow."
"I swear, I can just buy you new stuff. It'd be much better than us literally sneaking into your brother's apartment!"
Roman felt like a teenager again. Sneaking into his boyfriend's parents, well brother in this case, house just to see his boyfriend
"Stop whining. You get to sleep with me, what's a better reward than that?"
"Keeping my head cause you know your brother's going to kill me when he finds me here."
"He's not going to find you."
"And what about him killing me?"
"I can't guarantee that. But I'll try to stop him."
"Love you too, babe," Roman said dryly
Suddenly, he felt Owen's lips on his cheek
"Love you too. Now shut up and get in bed."
The sun was shining and Deckard could vaguely hear the cars down below as he woke up. He could feel Luke's arms still wrapped around him as he slowly got his bearings
Turning in Luke's arms, Deckard kissed him awake and smiled as Luke kissed back, albeit sleepily
"Monring, love." Deckard whispered
"Morning."
"Want a shower first? I'm going to make breakfast." Deckard said, kissing him again
Luke let out a moan and pulled from the kiss
"Breakfast sounds great."
Slipping out of Luke's arms, Deckard headed towards the kitchen and stopped dead in his tracks
There shouldn't be any dishes in the sink.
"Owen." Deckard hissed to himself
He had been hoping Owen wouldn't be back from his latest heist and would let him and Luke have their short time together
Especially since his little brother didn't know he was dating the DSS agent
Sighing, Deckard turned around and headed towards Owen's room. Better to make sure he was asleep so he coukr sneak Luke out
Gently knocking on the door, Deckard wasn't surprised to not hear anything. Owen could sleep through almost anything
Opening the door, Deckard peaked his head in and was met with the panic filled eyes of one Roman Pearce
"What the bloody hell!"
Owen jerked up, wide awake at Deckard's yell.
And just in time as Deckard seemed to pull a knife out of thin air and started advancing on Roman
"Deck! It's not what it looks like!"
Deckard glared at him and Owen cringed
"Ok, yes. It is what it looks like. But come on! He's not that bad!"
"Hey!" Roman shouted in resentment
"You, quiet." Deckard hissed at Roman and turned back to Owen. "I swear Owen, are you fifteen again? Hiding your boyfriends from me?"
"No! I just didnt think you'd approve!"
"And I don't!"
"Um. Is everything ok?" A voice asked from the doorway
Three heads swiveled to look at Luke, who was sheepishly looking into the room, a towel wrapped around his waist and body still wet from the shower
"I heard shouts and wanted to check if everything was ok."
"What the bloody hell is he doing here?" Owen rounded on Deckard
Head in hands, Deckard didn't answer. He was too focused on deciding on whether or not to laugh or cry at the situation
Roman and Luke could only share looks of sympathy as they realized what kind of hole they had dug themselves into
Hope you enjoy friend!
