Okay maybe I'm grasping at nothing, but hear me out:
We all know Peter has spidey senses. He used them to defeat Mysterio in Far From Home.
But we see Peter struggling with them all throughout the movie:
(Peter not sensing the banana)
(Peter not sensing Nick Fury in the room)
(Peter not sensing everything around him in the pub was an illusion)
(Finally, Peter not being able to decide whether Happy is real or fake)
Now here we wonder, why is that happening?
Take into account the events of Infinity War. When Thanos snapped his fingers, unlike others, Peter could sense his death coming, that's why he fell into Tony's arms saying, “Mr Stark I don't feel so good”. Imagine such a terrible thing happening to you, feeling the pain everywhere yet not being able to fix it. This could and HAS led to post traumatic stress in Peter. PTSD leads to changes in the body and impotence is one of them. Also the added trauma of his mentor dying? Anyone's mind could've become fucked up after that.
“Okay, so where are you going with this?” you must be thinking.
Well, what if Peter sensed something was unnatural about the water monster (other than the fact it was a monster made up of water, of course) so he shot something at it, just because? But he turned out to be “wrong” because it went right through the drones. He was right about it, but he didn't know then.
Wrongly sensing something so big like that would have created some serious self doubt in Peter.
That's why he must have discarded every tingle in his skin that sensed the illusions around Mysterio in the pub. That's why he must have ignored the possibility of someone being in his and Ned's room. That's why he asked Happy if he was real when he got off the plane.
It's because he was doubting himself and the very abilities that made him Spiderman.
Peter wasn't dumb. He was right about shooting a web at the water monster.
Hello Omni! May I request Owen trying to apologize to Mia through his actions, but Mia doesn't get the message until Owen verbally asks for forgiveness.
Awww!! I don't think we'll ever get it, but I really hope we get to see Mia and Owen interacting with each! Is Owen at all remorseful for his actions?
~~~
Mia glared harder and harder as she watched Owen Shaw
When Dom had told her Deckard would be coming, she had been excited to see the man again. He gave her all sorts of tips about cooking and knife throwing. He had even gotten her an impress set the last time she saw him
What she wasn't expecting was for Deckard to bring his brother and sister
Hattie was nice, if awkward around kids. It was actually funny to see a hardened MI6 agent almost fleeing from a four year old trying to give her a spit covered candy. However, Mia had been pissed when she had seen the other Shaw brother
She would never forget the kidnapping or how Gisele lost her life against Shaw. Quietly, she had taken Deckard aside and asked him to keep his brother away from her. Luckily, Deckard understood completely and followed her request
But. That didn't stop Owen from trying to approach her
Or her kids
Mia had been busy talking with Tej that she hadn't noticed Jack getting overwhelmed and having a meltdown. She was normally good at catching the signs of when he needed a break from the commotion, but she had been distracted
What she hadn't expected was Owen to hurry over and help calm Jack down. He had gently talked to him and helped cover his ears to block out the noises. Stunned, Mia could only stare as Jack's breathing started to slow and the tears stopped
A moment later, she was rushing over to them
"Get away from him!" She hissed lowly and tried to keep her posture loose so not to scare Jack
"Just trying to help the little tyke." Shaw said smoothly, raising his hands up in surrender. "I've had the same issues."
Mia narrowed her eyes at him
"Come on, honey, let's get inside." She rubbed Jack's back and led him inside to help him calm down
She pointedly ignored the way Owen was looking at them with empathy
---
Frowning, Mia bit her lip as she tried to sharpen one of the knives Deckard had given her
It was on the rare occasion she helped the crew on a mission and she wanted her blades as sharp as she could make them. She was good with a gun, but they needed to be stealthy during this mission
However, the only knives she's ever sharpened were kitchen ones and not large hunting knives. She wasn't used to using a whetstone to sharpen them
So focused on the task, she hadn't heard footsteps walking up to her
"If you keep going like that, you're going to damage it." A soft voice told her
Mia nearly jumped from her seat at the unexpected voice and gripped the knife tightly as she glared up at the man almost looming over her
Owen simply stared at her, not bothered by her harsh gaze
"Here. Let me show you."
"And how do I know you're any good?" Mia sneered
"Cause I've been doing it since I was a babe." Owen shrugged
Keeping her eyes narrowed at him, she finally handed the equipment over. She hadn't been expecting Owen to sit closely next to her and show her how to do it properly
"You need to angle it right..."
Mia would never say it, but she appreciated the lesson Owen gave her
---
It had been a few weeks after that incident and Mia could feel herself slowly relaxing around Owen
She had finally admitted that he seemed good with her kids and allowed him to help coach Jack with his ADHD. It was nice to see her little boy rushing up to the man and not be judged for rambling about whatever had taken his fancy that month. Owen would always listen with rapt attention and encouraged Jack's interests
It also helped that everyone else in the crew had accepted Owen's dry wit, love of cars, and intelligence. Mia could feel herself softening around the man
But she couldn't understand why he always seemed to be offering her help
She was frankly getting sick of the man getting under foot, asking if he could carry anything, do something, or clean. However, when he offered to help in the kitchen, she had found out how bad of an idea that was
Because now she was looking down at three completely burned pies
"How could this happen...?" She mumbled, poking at one with a fork. It was almost all pure ash
"Sorry." Owen cleared his throat and looked away from the pies. "Deck always said I was shite at cooking."
"All I did was tell you to put them in the oven." Mia frowned and narrowed her eyes. "You didn't do this in purpose did you?"
"No!" Owen glared at her. "I was only trying to help."
"Why?" Mia snapped, done with all the things Owen had been trying to help with. "Do you think I'm incompetent? That I can't do things for myself?"
"No, not at all." Owen said quickly
"Then why do you keep doing all these things? I don't need your help!"
"I know!" Owen shook his head. "I just wanted to show you how sorry I was for, well, the past."
Mia blinked and could only stare at Owen
He met her eyes but she could see his hands fidget slightly at his sides
"So, all this was... an apology?" She asked tentatively
"Yeah." Owen sighed. "I didn't want to harm you back then, and wasn't planning on it. I just wanted your brother out of the way."
"And that makes things ok?" She hissed
"No." Owen shrugged. "You don't have to forgive me. I only wanted to show you that I'm sorry."
"By destroying the pies?" Mia drawled, unimpressed
"Ok, that wasn't supposed to happen." Owen mumbled, a slight tinge of pink on his cheeks
Mia could only stare at Owen, looking him up and down. Finally, she sighed
"I still haven't forgiven you, but I'm not as angry about it." She admitted. "But, if you ever try to hurt me or my family, I'll cut your balls off and force feed them to you."
Owen nodded thoughtfully before a small smirk played on his lips
"You'll have to learn how to sharpen your knives by yourself then."
Mai could help the small laugh that left her
I've been having AU thoughts <3 I was thinking of a fic where Jakob gets de-aged (due to maybe Eteon shenanigans?) and he's a teenager when the team find him. De-aging is usually not a trope I'm into, but I feel like it could really put Dom and Jakob through some serious angst, since Dom would have to raise Jakob, and Dom would have to deal with the baby version of Jakob who he used to be so angry with. I could see Jakob calling Dom "dad" by accident when he first sees him, and Dom is just </3
I absolutely love De aged fics! I’ve written a few actually and I love adding Jakob to the mix! Especially when it gets so angst since he’s the same age when Dom kicked him out!
Walking through the halls of Eteon, Ramsey shivered as she peered into several rooms and saw several operating tables surrounded by machines she’s never even seen before. Ahead of her, Roman was leading them through the halls and hopefully towards the main server rooms Eteon had. They needed as much info on Eteon as they could get their hands on.
When Deckard and Luke had told them about Eteon, they had both been extremely tight lipped about the organization and insisted they handle them while the crew sat on the sidelines. Of course, none of them had taken that well and had followed the two to one of the bases.
So far, Ramsey just wanted to turn around and run. The place seemed abandoned, but there was so much evidence of what they were getting up to. She couldn’t believe that a secret army was forming without anyone knowing about it. And as they walked past several rooms that looked like cells, she shivered as images of what they were doing on those operating tables.
She was so lost in her thoughts, she almost didn’t notice a dark figure huddled in the corner of one of the cells. But, before they could keep going, she saw the figure hunch even more on itself.
“Roman!” Ramsey hissed and grabbed his arm. “Stop!”
“What?!” Roman snapped back and Ramsey could see just how uneasy he felt being there. She couldn’t blame him honestly.
“There’s someone here!” “Then leave them alone!” Roman blurted out. “They’ll get themselves out.”
Ramsey rolled her eyes. How was someone supposed to get themselves out of a prison cell?
Walking away, she approached the cell and peered inside. She couldn’t see much other than the figure curled up into a ball and pushed as far into the corner as possible.
“Hello?” She called out gently and saw the figure’s head snap up. “Are you alright? Do you need help?”
Watching, Ramsey waited for the person to respond and after a long moment, they spoke up.
In Spanish.
“Shit.” Ramsey cursed and looked over at Roman, who had walked up next to her. “Do you understand him?”
“Uh. Kinda? I only know a little bit from where I grew up.”
Ramsey listened as Roman called out very rough Spanish even she knew was only halfway correct. But, that seemed to be enough to encourage the person to uncurl and stand up. As he walked closer to him, Ramsey’s eyes widened.
A young teenager was standing in the middle of the cell, the lights barely casting on him as he shifted from one foot to another in nervousness. He was eyeing them with distrust and wariness.
“You sound like an idiot.” The boy mumbled in English.
“Hey! I haven’t spoken Spanish in years! I think I sounded good.” Roman snapped and pouted.
“Ignore him.” Ramsey smiled at the boy. “Do you need help? The people who were here have left.”
The boy frowned at her but after glancing around the cell, he finally nodded.
--
Getting the teenager, Jakob, out of the base was fairly easy. Other than his snarky remarks that he constantly threw at Roman. While they were funny, Ramsey didn’t enjoy having to soothe Roman’s hurt ego afterwards. But, she was still worried about why Jakob was even there. What had Eteon been doing to the teenager.
Sitting in the backseat with him, she kept a simple conversation going when she saw how nervous Jakob was becoming. He didn’t seem to recognize many of the things around them, mostly the cars and technology. Ramsey was becoming more and more concerned about what had happened to the boy.
Finally, Roman parked them up next to the rest of the crew at their rendezvous point. She could see the rest of the crew waiting for them and knew they would be willing to help Jakob. She sent him a smile before getting out.
“Come on, these are really nice people. They’re like family to me.”
Jakob only nodded and followed her.
“About time you guys showed up!” Tej called out to them.
“Yeah, well, we found a stray!” Roman shouted back. And with that, all eyes were on Ramsey and Jakob. Placing a hand on Jakob’s shoulder, she led him closer to the crew. She immediately noticed the look of horror on Dom and Letty’s face.
“Jakob?” Letty breathed out.
Everyone else was quiet as they looked between the teenager and Letty.
“How does she know my name?” Jakob whispered to Ramsey, who could only shake her head. She had no idea.
“This isn’t possible.” Letty continued and took a tentative step towards them. Ramsey could feel Jakob stiffen next to her. “How did this happen?”
“What are you talking about?” Ramsey spoke up.
“He shouldn’t be like this.” Letty whispered, coming even closer to them. When she finally stopped in front of Jakob, she looked up and down.
“Look, lady,” Jakob grunted. “I don’t know who you are and I’m as sure as hell not who you think I am.”
“Are you saying you really don’t remember me?” Letty smirked slightly. “The person who watched you every school night to make sure you actually did you homework? Or the one who taught you how to make tortillas?”
Ramsey frowned. What was Letty talking about?
“No… that can’t be.” Glancing over, Ramsey saw that Jakob had gone pale. What was going on? “You- you can’t be her.”
“I am.” Letty smiled sadly.
“No, Letty was only a few years older than me.”
What?!
Ramsey could see equal confusion on everyone else’s faces. How did he know Letty? And a few years older than him?
“That’s her.”
Ramsey stared up at Dom, who finally spoke up, even if his voice was gruff and a storm was slowly forming over his face. She had only seen that look in his eyes a handful of times. What was going on?! “What- dad?”
Letty gasped, while Dom’s face dropped and he looked close to fainting.
“Wait, Dom, do you have another kid we didn’t know about?” Roman spoke up.
“No!” Dom shouted harshly. “That’s my brother!”
Brother? Ramsey looked over at Jakob and blinked.
The kid was a perfect match for the other Toretto. Even if he was a few decades younger.
But how did he end up here?
I’m making this because the BSD fandom has 2 modes for interpreting Mori and it’s either evil evil child abuser or spineless bastard and I HATE both of them.
Mori is an abuser, yes, but the way he abuses characters is very atypical, and not at all what most people expect. His abuse is almost all psychological, the only character we can say for sure has been physically abused by him is Yosano, and we’re only shown one instance of that.
For simplicity, I’ll be referring to his abuse of Dazai, Chuuya, Koyo and Yosano, but I believe it could be said that Kyuusaku and potentially the Akutagawa’s have suffered because of him.
To understand why Mori has abused certain characters, we must understand a bit about him as a person. This is potentially why Mori’s actions are so wildly skewed by the fandom, because no one wants to observe him too closely (but that’s a whole other post). Simply put, Mori is a military man. He does anything and everything to achieve the “optimal solution”, he has a plan and if he has to get his hands dirty to reach his goal, he will. Emotions and attachments go out the window for him, most of the time at least, because he would sacrifice anything, and anyone, to achieve his goal. Most of the time at least. That’s why he used Yosano, because what’s the life of one girl to the safety of his nation? That’s why he manufactured Oda’s and his orphans deaths, because the prize outweighed the cost.
Mori is logical and reserved, so we must observe all his actions with the lens that he has a reason for what he does, because he (almost) always has a reason.
I’ll start by referring to Mori’s abuse of Dazai, because he’s a bit of a special case and also the one that the fandom overall gets the most wrong. Mori’s abuse of Dazai is usually twisted to be sexual or physical, when there is absolutely no evidence of that. People like to bring up Dazai’s abuse of Akutagawa, or that one throwaway line from The Day I Picked Up Dazai as evidence, but neither of those hold up in my opinion.
Firstly, just because Dazai’s abuse of Akutagawa was partly physical, doesn’t mean he himself underwent physical abuse. Just like Mori, Dazai always has reasons for what he does, and his reason for what he did to Akutagawa was tailored to Akutagawa and his ability, therefore not something that Mori would have done to Dazai. Not to excuse Dazai’s abuse of Akutagawa, of course, but the fact of the matter is that Dazai’s abuse was a test of Akutagawa, and a punishment because Akutagawa didn’t adhere to Dazai’s standards. This abuse is the result of Mori’s own abuse, yes, but it’s not as straightforward as “Mori hit Dazai, ergo Dazai hit Akutagawa”.
The line from TDIPUD is also poor evidence, as all it is is Oda telling Dazai that what he’s doing won’t hurt and Dazai responding that Mori says the same about the needles he gives him. The fact that this is taken as abuse is really weird to me, why is that the assumption here? Mori is a doctor, there are multiple reasons for him to be giving Dazai needles. And the fact that Mori says it’s not going to hurt just sounds like the typical “doctor giving a kid a shot” exchange.
Dazai hates pain, so obviously Mori would lie and say that it isn’t going to hurt. Mori cares for Dazai’s well-being, which is what makes Dazai a bit of an outlier, as Mori shows care for him before he’s found a reason to justify that care. This is evidenced by their exchange in the beginning of Dazai, Chuuya: Fifteen, which is very important as it gives us an insight into Mori’s perspective during that time, where he panics because he hasn’t achieved the “optimal solution” by keeping Dazai alive, but then justifies that action by deciding Dazai is too good an asset to throw away.
And here-in lies the actual abuse that Dazai went through, not being hit or shamed or any of that, but emotional coercion, a slow cultivation of the parts of Dazai that Mori saw as useful, and a creation of the mindset we see Dazai use. This is most prominent with how Mori plants ideas into Dazai’s head. This is referenced in Chapter one of Fifteen as well, establishing that Mori has taken somewhat of an instructor role to Dazai, but that’s something Dazai rebels against.
This exchange is a perfect example of that conditioning, instead of giving Dazai information directly, Mori gets Dazai to deduce his answers using information he already has, something we see Dazai does very often in the current plot. But the main example of this conditioning comes in the form of Dazai’s plan to use the Sheep against Chuuya, a plan that comes DIRECTLY from Mori.
Mori makes sure that Dazai is in the room as he baits Chuuya, uses the weakness of the Sheep against him, and then breaks down EXACTLY what has happened for Dazai. “Just some food for thought” my ass.
Then when discussing his plan with Rimbaud, Dazai brings up a theory taught to him by Mori. 15!Dazai is such a little parrot, it’s all “Mori says, Mori says, Mori says”, just word-vomiting all the thoughts Mori puts in his head, there is a CLEAR influence here.
Just like Mori, Dazai uses the Sheep against Chuuya. Mori shows Dazai how to control people, how to make them listen and how to make them obey. The reason Dazai treats people like pawns, the reason he KNOWS how to manipulate people is because Mori taught him.
Just like so many of the characters, the fandom forgets that when Mori met Dazai, he was a child. He was a broken child who needed a guiding hand and the hand he got was Mori’s. Morí crafted the Dazai that we see, shaped the way that he thinks, THAT was his abuse.
Chuuya as well is a special case. Like Mori, he is a leader, and that is a quality Mori admires in him. In turn, Chuuya looks up to Mori, sees him as an inspiration for what it means to be a leader. This is another example of Mori’s manipulative abuse. To Chuuya, Mori makes himself out to be a saviour, someone who will teach him how to be better, how to protect the people he thinks he has failed. Mori takes Chuuya at his weakest point and gives him a new chance.
And with that, Chuuya is loyal to the mafia and Mori has Soukoku. Never mind that Mori was the brains behind Dazai’s plan that got Chuuya into the mafia in the first place, by getting Dazai to do his dirty work, Mori gets to appear to Chuuya with a halo and wings (I could also talk about Mori’s involvement with Stormbringer and how that locked Chuuya into the mafia, but that’s another tangent).
Mori has done the same with Koyo. She’s loyal to him, but clearly does not LIKE him, so where does that loyalty come from? It is because he has freed her. Koyo suffered under the rule of the Old Boss, she had no freedom, the man who cared for her was executed, she was restrained within the mafia. And then Mori takes over and she ends up an executive. Suddenly she’s got POWER, she can change things, under Mori she’s given the ability to change things and take charge. He sees a girl in chains and loosens them, not enough for her to escape, but enough that she can move. And having been chained up for so long, that feels like freedom. Koyo is loyal to Mori because he’s better than the alternative, because if she can’t be free, at least she can move.
I left Yosano for last, because again, she’s a wild card. Unlike all the other people Mori has coerced, Yosano’s abuse took place during a time where every second was precious. There was no time to do it delicately, the way Mori handled everything else, it was war, win or lose. Mori’s tactics were a lot more brutal, Yosano wants the soldiers to live, so Mori shoots the one she cares about so either she WATCHES her friend die, or she can save him. Unlike with Dazai, with Chuuya, with Koyo, Mori isn’t Yosano’s saviour, he’s her captor, he gives her a choice, but its one where neither option is made to look kind. He makes it clear, she heals them, or they die, whether it’s at his hands, or the hands of the enemy, and he knows she would never let them die.
Mori works through coercion and manipulation, he shapes the way people think of him carefully, moulding his appearance in the eyes of others. To Dazai he’s just an old man that Dazai has under his thumb, who tries and fails to manipulate him. But that’s not the truth. To Chuuya he’s a benevolent leader, someone so gracious as to grant him a place in the mafia. But that’s not the truth. To Koyo he’s the safest option, not someone she wants to follow, but someone she will follow, because at least she’s free. But that’s not the truth. To Yosano he’s evil, cruel and harsh and he takes lives as easily as he breathes with no remorse, he’s the God to her Angel of Death. But thats not the truth. To the audience, he’s a monster, a filthy pervert who is nothing more than a pedophile. Is that the truth?
Mori is like a spider, ensnaring people in his web with carefully constructed lies and appearances, his abuse is not physical or sexual, it’s a psychological coercion, careful at times and brutal at others, his abuse is a targeted attack of an individual’s weaknesses, and a cultivation of the parts he sees as useful.
Every person is his tool, and he likes his blades sharp.
@1seaweedbrain1 for you <3
“they tried to kill each other” yes and? do you have a problem with true love
Based on @omnivorousshipper‘s stream the other day. !! OUR SWEATER !!
Yay! I’ve got so many prompts! First up, have you seen that TikTok trend where a kid gets in trouble for sitting in The Boss’ chair, but then they realize that the kid is The Boss’. That, but with Owen! He’d get so cocky and believe himself to be untouchable because of his mother, but then Mama Shaw arrives and puts him in his place.
I have no idea what trend you're talking about, sorry friend. I don't use Tik Tok
But it is really funny to imagine Owen getting way too cocky and Mama Shaw having to put him in his place!
~~~
Owen smirked harder as he popped a hard candy into his mouth and sucked hard on it. He leaned back in the large, plush chair he was sitting in and looked across the large, mahogany desk
Standing in front of him was one of the largest crime bosses in London. Normally, the man would be towering over people and striking fear into their hearts
But in front of Owen, the man's head was bowed and his hands were shaking as he balled them up
Owen wasn't going to lie and say he wasn't tempted to make the man kneel before him. But he wouldn't take it that far. Not yet, at least
"Tell me, Brindly, how's business?"
"It's fine, Mr. Shaw." The man forced out from behind clenched teeth. The response only made Owen smirk harder
"Really?" Owen hummed in thought, rolling the candy in his mouth. Nonchalantly, he lifted his legs and propped them up on the desk. "I've heard from a few sources that you've been struggling to pay back what you owe me."
Well, owes his mother specifically. Everyone knew in the UK, if you wanted to do any serious business in the criminal world, you needed to pay a fee to Queenie Shaw
Owen kindly took it upon himself to collect a few of those fees personally
"Not at all." The man hissed. "I don't know what those liars are telling you, but me and my boys are doing just fine."
Owen raised an unimpressed eyebrow at the simmering anger just below the man's skin. It was just too much fun to mess with these stuck up, older criminals. They always had a certain pride that bruised far too easily. Far too tempting for Owen
"Then, I hope that you let me know if these rumors ever become reality." Owen smiled warmly, but his eyes sent a silent warning
The man nodded stiffly before turning on his heel and storming out. Owen didn't hide his snort of amusement at all as he watched the small temper tantrum
"Kim, who's next?" Owen called out, looking over to one of his mother's goons. The woman was always around in London to keep track of the family business when his mother was out of town
"I believe there's someone of a very high status that would like to see you." A dry voice called out instead of Kim's high pitched one
Owen jerked around in the chair and let his feet hit the ground. Standing in the doorway was his mother's right hand man: Jeffrey. Who didn't look one bit amused by the situation
"Give them my deepest apologies then." Owen said smoothly. "I'm quite busy."
"Don't you dare give me that kind of lip, you little whelp."
Owen flinched slightly as he heard his mother's voice
Jeffrey stepped further into the room, allowing Queenie Shaw to step into the room. She looked extremely unamused
"Get the bloody hell out of my chair, Oh." The snapped
"Of course, mother."

What did the Shaw siblings want to be when they were younger?
Hmmm. Now that is a bit of a toughy
-I see Hattie always wanting to be a spy or part of the royal guard. She admires all the queens and would think the noblest thing to do would be a guard for the queen
Or a spy to help their country stay powerful and keep the queen happy
-As for Owen, I think he wanted to be a lot of things- it depended on what he was doing that month
He wanted to be a singer, a football player, a dancer, a rower, a hacker, a thief, a cop, a composer, the prime minister, the king, etc
Owen was convinced he could do it all
-Finally, I think Deckard was the one forced to be realistic in his dreams, especially having to grow up so fast and raise his siblings
So, I can see Deckard wanting to be a famous chef, but knowing that was just a dream
Instead, he knew with what his mother, father, and uncle had trained him to do would dictate his life and the life of a soldier or spy would suit him best
Or that of a stay at home parent, but he wasn't ready for that life just yet. Not when he already was living that life with Owen and Hattie at the moment
Thanks for the question friend!
