[ID: A doodle page for the Malevolent podcast, featuring several sketches of Arthur, John, Kayne, The King in Yellow, and Yellow. More detailed description in ALT Text.]
Bringing y'all my mid-season 3 Malevolent arts because this podcast has a grip on me. Featuring my Kayne design because I have SOOO many thoughts about that freak <3 his voice sounds a bit similar to Arthur to me and so I thought it might be fun if he was mocking the lads by wearing Arthur's face. As of s3 we have no idea wtf Kayne is supposed to be, anyways, but altering his form doesn't seem to be a power that's off the table. Also the concept of John not recognizing Arthur's face on a happier, less scarred form makes me want to throw up :) hope this helps!
[ID copied from ALT with Author's Notes removed: Animated gif of arthur in profile holding a flickering lighter, as the light shifts images of john appear in the background, one in profile and one facing the lighter. End ID.]
[ID of the photos under the cut, copied from ALT: arthur and john in profile, john is portrayed as long yellow cloak stretching ominously far forwards with subtle black shapes writhing out underneath
the same image only now john has rotated to face the viewer/lighter, the cloak is empty save for two luminously glowing yellow pinpricks, dark shapes mimicking mandibles and tentacles spill from under the hood and blend black into the background. End ID.]
It's dark Arthur, pull out your lighter.
(practically I know john is most easily portrayed as a normal hooded guy with a mask but deep down my heart of hearts still belongs to mergo's wet nurse)
[ID: Several drawings of Arthur Lester and John Doe from Malevolent, from the chest up. Arthur is portrayed as a midsized white man with short, disheveled brown hair that is hanging partially over his face. He has some stubble and wears a brown sweater over a gray button down. His eyes are yellow.
The first drawing shows Arthur in profile with a neutral expression, with John depicted as an audio wave over his head. The second drawing depicts John as a floating disembodied mouth with sharp yellow teeth. Arthur has his eyes shut and yells: "You tried to kill me!!" to which John yells back: "Get over it!!"
The third drawing shows John as disembodied teeth again, this time making a confused expression as he says "Why are you so happy. We almost died." Arthur is smiling, his hair swept out of his face as he answers: "I get to move forward. It's brilliant!" The final drawing depicts John as a large negative black space in the shape of sharp teeth, with the inner maw bright yellow. He is large enough to entirely surround Arthur as he yells "Arthur, RUN." Arthur gasps in horror and looks back over his shoulder in panic. In his eyes there is a small audio wave where his pupil should be. End ID.]
listening to malevolent 💛 this podcast makes me want gnaw off my arm 🥰
been experimenting with some designs for these two. I picture Arthur very clearly but still debating how to depict John 🤔🤔
🎹 you call it madness (but i call it love) 🎹
drew arthur and john as the cover pic for The PrivateEyes Song™️
[ID: A digital drawing of "mossy-rainfrog's Malevolent season 4 boys", featuring a spread of designs from the bust up of various characters: Larson, Oscar, Noel, and John and Arthur.
Larson is a thin, white man with green eyes, brown-blond hair and a handlebar mustache. He has his chin tipped up and grins cruelly as he looks down, saying "Well, well." He is wearing a red suit with a purple tie. Oscar is a midsized, light skinned Black man with short, curly red hair, a goatee, and freckles. He looks right at the viewer with downturned brown eyes and an earnest, sad expression. He wears priest garments and has a cross necklace. Detective Noel is a skinny, older white man with tanned skin, greying dark hair, and dark eyes. He wears a gray hat and a gray suit with a brown tie. His mouth is set in a hard line and he looks suspiciously off to the side.
Arthur is a stout white man with short disheveled brown hair and various scars, including a scar across his throat. He has gold, unfocused eyes, and wears a brown vest over a yellow tie. John is looming over his shoulder, slightly obscured by Arthur in front of him. John is portrayed as a humanoid monstrous figure with a cracked pallid mask for part of his face. Beneath the mask and his golden-yellow hooded robe, his skin is empty blackness. The characters are all drawn against a maroon background. End ID.]
some doodles before I finish ep 40 and inevitably die a thousand deaths. I really like my designs of these guys tbh I think they're fun! I like Larson being unsettlingly young-looking and just the absolute worst. I also think Noel deserves to be old and Oscar deserves to be so kissable💘💘💘💘. also shout out to john who is pookie and my favorite jealous bitch 💛 i love podcast 💛
[ID: A digital painting of Arthur in Castle Kerringford, drawn like a cover for Clue the boardgame. The painting shows Arthur standing by the common room's fire with Barnabas, as the background is overlayed with a map of the castle, showing "the hall", "the library", and "the chapel". Overtop the painting lay two dice, a ring, and two cards: one for 'the chapel', depicting a crucifixion, and one for 'the dagger' depicting a dagger. At the top of the painting is written: "The Castle" in a Clue-like font.
Details and character design: Arthur is a lean white man with stubble, scars, and yellow eyes. He wears medieval clothes the Prince's armor, and gloves. He has a skeptical look as he wipes his mouth with the back of his hand and his left hand rests on his chest. Barnabas is pale with dark eyes and hair, and wears a fur coat. He holds a tankard and eyes Arthur with suspicion. End ID.]

[ID: a two-panel comic of Arthur Lester from Malevolent. The background of the first panel consists of scribbled black strokes, on which John’s yellow dialogue is written. It is largely obscured by Arthur, but visible pieces say, “Oh, God, Arthur, they’ve skinned–” “Blood–” “Rotten–” In speech bubbles that further hide this text, Arthur is saying, “All right, that’s– JOHN, stop, that’s enough!”
In the second panel, Arthur has slapped his right hand firmly over his eyes. The black background has been reduced to a small, angry shape looming over Arthur’s shoulder, with slitted yellow eyes and a sharp-toothed open mouth. John is shouting, “HEY!” /end ID]
