This right here just about sums it up:
For everyone complaining that the romance in Belle was a let down, let me clarify:
THAT WASNT THE POINT!
The main plot of Belle was not falling in love, it focused on grief, trauma, and healingā¤ļøāš©¹! And how you can find that in some of the unlikeliest places like the Internet even with its constant toxicity and multiple personas. You can love without falling in love, you can hug without being amorous, and you can connect without being romantic!
If you are looking for a love story with the Beauty and the Beast trope, Iām sorry! Belle is clearly not for you! So stop hating on the movie, saying youād change or do it this way if you missed the entire plot! Life isnāt about romance, but love! Love of your self, family, friends, neighbors, community, the world, heck even school! This movie explores all the ranges of love except literally the romantic one on PURPOSE!

Show Dany wasn't a charmer. The characters are either dumb down to make them follow her or are smart enough to know what kind of person she is. She wasn't that complex character. Infact her villain arc gave her some depth.
It's painful how stupid everyone had to become. We always focus on Jon, but so many characters had to be lobotomized to make it work.
Not Sansa though! :D
I actually think Jaime and Cersei won't make out of twow. Aegon will hold King's Landing against Daenerys, not Cersei i.e, a much more likable monarch, making Dany's actions even more horrific. And Jaime's plot for S7/S8 didn't even make sense. But they will die together, of that I am sure.
(in reference to this post)
I agree. I think Dany's choice to take KL from Aegon is far more interesting than for her to fight Cersei because killing Cersei would have no personal significance, debating whether or not Aegon is who he claims to be, deciding he is a fraud whether thatās a genuine belief or merely a convenient one, it allows a lot more inner turmoil. Also, I believe Martin said something about us getting a little Targ war, a mini dance of the dragons 2.0, so it seems likely the two will have a fight over the throne. But even without Martin's comment, in the books themselves he's ramping up to it with this:
"A dragon eating its own tail, aye," Valena said. "From the days of Aegon's Conquest. He did not conquer here. Elsewhere he burned his foes, him and his sisters, but here we melted away before them, leaving only stone and sand for them to burn. And round and round the dragons went, snapping at their tails for want of any other food, till they were tied in knots." (TWOW, Arianne I)
which is yes, history, but also signaling what is to come for House Targaryen. They fight and kill each other, itās fitting that that is how they go out. And we know they will, that although Rhaegar was "the last" and that Viserys thought he was the last, in truth, Dany will be the last:
And saw her brother Rhaegar, mounted on a stallion as black as his armor. Fire glimmered red through the narrow eye slit of his helm. "The last dragon," Ser Jorah's voice whispered faintly. "The last, the last." Dany lifted his polished black visor. The face within was her own. (AGOT, Daenerys IX)
So for her to kill a Targ claimant to take the throne and then be killed in turn makes sense to me.
I now canāt remember if there was a specific line that convinced me Jaime and Cersei would die together, maybe it was just Jaime saying it (āWe will die together as we were born togetherā) that planted the idea, but before s8 I had accepted it as inevitable. There is an entire section of this post by @istumpysk with quotes/spec about how.Ā
Friendly reminder that direwolves were very very real in case anyone thinks Neil or George made them up:
https://www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/article/dire-wolf-dna-study-reveals-surprises
Sorry if this has been asked before, but was Lucifer's "I am a dire wolf?" a reference to GOT because of Gwendoline Christie?
Not unless the Dire Wolves in GOT were Georgeās reference to Sandman. Thatās from the original (1989) comic.
Same silly hand-wringing, different format. No wonder Neil is at home here on Tumblr
below is the letter received by Neil Gaiman from the āconcerned mothers of americaā in ā92, and his response :)
he mentioned this letter in a recent interview with Pink News:
āI remember getting a very grumpy letter from the āConcerned Mothers of Americaā, informing us that due to the number of gay characters in Sandman they would be boycotting us and we had to repent,ā he said.
āWe never repented and the sales just went up, and up, and up. So I never really worried about their boycott.ā
For one, their Deaths are complete polar opposites, bit still very very good at what they do and are amazing to behold

"You do that too much, you know what you get? FAT PIGEONS!"~
is good omens in the same universe as the sandman?
No.
They really don't know how to support female characters without pitting them against each other, and it shows. Its not impossible to like *both* Stark sisters, you know.
Ship girl stans like to talk how she is the champion of the smallfolk and the trash talk Jeyne Poole an actual commoner for calling Ary@ "horseface'' way back in the book one, i swear to God some of them did not move from the AGOT and it shows
That's pretty much all Sansa antis, not just the shipcels. They're mentally stuck on book 1 and never left (it also explains why they all still think Ship Girl is an oppressed underdog and Dani is still being victimized).
The thing is, yes, we saw Sansa at her worst there (though that's not saying much when other characters' worst is murder or rape) but we also saw her at her most innocent and sweet. I never had a problem liking or empathizing with AGOT!Sansa and it's weird to me so many people do.
Also, if they wanna judge the Starks in book 1, they should talk about Jon's moodiness and Ar.ya literally beating Sansa up. They're lucky their faves don't get negatively judged by first impressions.
A quick look at the comics confirms that the $800 stipend was indeed the original number, and maybe that would have been a large, if not decent amount in the 80s, its chump change in this capitalist hellscape we have in the New 20s
My only real complaint with S1 so far (I haven't finished the season yet) is that Jed's foster father's motive is the $800 a month.
That's not even enough to live on. I seriously doubt Cape Kennedy's cost of living is so low that this stipend is worth it. (Especially if you look at the standard of living the foster parents have. I mean, the phone's probably as old as they are.)
This is the most unrealistic motive I've ever heard of.
If you're going to make greed a character's motive, at least make it enough money to be worthwhile.
And it adds extra salt to the Morningstar's wounds to make what they do in "Season of Mists" be that much more vengeful and petty no doubt. š
Hi Neil! Iām wondering why Morpheus battles Lucifer instead of Choronzon in the show!!
PS Iām absolutely in love with the show so far

The Mormont women live and breath the Mama Bear trope: fierce, loyal, no-nonsense women with their own brand of sweet tenderness who *can and will* fight tooth, claw, and sinew to defend their home and family.
Brave companions used black bear in fighting pit in Riverrun. Dany called Jorah her black bear in ASOS. His sigil also had black bear on it. Then the bear in Bear and the Maiden Fair is described as having black and brown furs. Do you think black bear is indicating something?
Hi anon!
I'm extremely ambivalent about how GRRM uses bears. There's no one recognizable theme like with dogs.Ā The best I've arrived at so far is that bears can represent questionable mentor figures.
Sansa in the Vale is compared to a bear cub (with Littlefinger her horrible "father"), Dany compares herself to a bear cub withJorah, the fugitive slaver who both advises and molests her, then you have Jon with Jeor Mormont, who hands him the transformed family blade that used to be a bear - but was turned into a wolf, making him a pseudo "father", who is both a useful teacher AND a misguided leader of the Watch, but leaving Jon in charge of his own wolfy fate, eventually.
Arya watches the black bear kill Amory Lorch and feels reminded of Yoren, her second (and violent!) mentor after Syrio, but that same bear is turned against Brienne as a precurser to threatened rape and murder, and the bear is killed when Jaime returns to save her.Ā
In the song "The Bear and the Maiden Fair", the male bear is another beastly sexual predator.
On the other hand, the ladies of House Mormont are generally depicted as loyal protectors and independent leaders. Dacey is Robbās loyal guard, while Maege is trusted to carry out a vital mission for him. Lyanna Mormont has no qualms about rejecting Stannis, steadfastly sticking with House Stark. Asha is undeniably impressed withĀ āAlyā Mormont, who protects Asha from the fire-mad Rāhllor adherents in spite of the ancient enmity between their people.Ā
Tormundās story of the she-bear who sheds her skin mirrors Alysaneās story about the Mormont ladies being skinchangers who mate with bears in the woods. The bear goes her own way. No husband necessary.Ā
The Mormont men? Absent, dead, deeply flawed, irrelevant.
There is a clear and constant rift between the female bear and the male bear.Ā
If I had to make a guess, I would suspect that the bear image is about growing beyond a flawed system. The mentor that protects the various characters can transform into a weak leader, a traitor, a predator. Independence is better. Growing up is necessary. Responsibility for oneās own fate is necessary.Ā
Be that as a she-bear, or a wolf. (Or a dragon.)

What do you believe George has in mind for The Winds of Winter, more specifically what will be different to change it up from the show? I'll go first:
In true penultimate episode fashion, the Winds of Winter will be where everything goes horribly wrong for our heroes, bringing about the narrative Darkest Hour:
Jon is resurrected as a wight, maybe even a super wight Night King with the kiss of a (PLOT TWIST!) female Other, to lay waste to the Night's Watch and weaken if further to the invasion of winter
Bran loses himself entirely as an individual, Bloodraven taking control for nefarious purposes as the chief intelligence of the Old God's hive mind
Arya will be torn between her desire for home and the relative safety of the House of Black and White, getting herself grievously wounded and ill after her disastrous fight to escape Braavos because her heart won't truly be in it.
Davos will come within an *inch* of getting Rickon home from Skagos, only to watch the boy painfully die in his arms
In a fit of desperation, Melisandre will burn Shireen as a sacrifice, and they lose anyways
Stannis will live just long enough to hear that all he did and said was utterly worthless, and will die an equally worthless death
Lady Stoneheart and the Brotherhood are gonna kill *somebody* who doesn't truly deserve it with Jaime watching
House Tyrell will perish by wildfire in the Great Sept of Baelor, destroying a huge portion of Westeros's order all for the sake of Cersei's mad and petty ambitions and vengeance
Tyrion's wretched demon luck will carry him all the way on the Golden Company's back to lay waste to the Seven Kingdoms on a check those empty mines can't cash, and will somehow escape cackling all the while as he finds some court to hide in while the whole continent goes up in flames
Only Sansa will escape relatively unscathed, working her way into the hearts and loyalty of the Vale houses with or without Littlefinger's help, and she will lead the charge to retake her home in A Dream of Spring

The covers of the Sandman comics were always so orginal and captivating, being largely photographs of collage art pieces; will those play any part in the show, like as title cards, inspiration, or on camera recreations like Morpheus in the magic circle?
You know, lots of people think they were collaged, but they weren't. They were built...
Here are the covers to 1, 2 and 6 respectively.
And yes. If you keep an eye out in Burgess's mansion in Episode 1, you'll see a lot of the things on the shelves of the cover to #1 in display cases on his walls...
It legit ticked me off that Cleganebowl was a thing, especially how the show handled it. I'm a huge fan of redemption/closure arcs where the vile villain/edgy anti-hero does some major rethinking of their life after getting their ass thoroughly kicked, and using that revelation to either atone for their crimes or acknowledge there is no forgiveness for them and quietly leave those they have wronged alone.
Sandor getting brutalized and mutilated by Gregor while leaving the undead bastard untouched like a day after making his peace with the Stark sisters and surviving the Long Night is not the makings of a glorious narrative
There were shadows all around them. One shadow was dark as ash, with the terrible face of a hound. Another was armored like the sun, golden and beautiful. Over them both loomed a giant in armor made of stone, but when he opened his visor, there was nothing inside but darkness and thick black blood. (Bran, AGoT) Ā Ā Ā
Here I think Robert Strong is looming over the Hound and Jaime, instead of Ned, Sansa and Arya. Maybe there's Cleganebowl coming and there's a chance Jaime will have to go through Robert Strong to reach Cersei.
Maybe! It's easier for me to believe there will be a fight between Jaime and dead!Gregor than the Hound and dead!Gregor.
Cleganebowl has always been a silly theory to me, anon. He's dead. He has no head. He's dead and headless. What is the point? Is it supposed to be a triumphant moment for Sandor Clegane? Finally vanquishing the evil brother?
The evil brother who is already dead, and has no head.
*Are there* any good fanfics where its Sansa who gets the heck out of Dodge after Ned's execution, and its Arya who is pulled into the Lannister's iron grip? Coz if so, I would very much like to read them.
I hate oppression olympics posts about Sansa and Arya any day of the week, but illiterate losers acting like Sansa was a privileged captive with her name while Arya wasnāt.
When like no she wasnāt ?? Sansa was the daughter of ātraitorā and part of the psychological torment she was put through daily was to act grateful to her captors and to constantly come up with reasons why she was good and worthy of being kept alive, fed and dressed, one slip and those things would be taken from her. Sansa had a tiny safety net while Robb was alive, but it got smaller and smaller, and after he was dead, it was virtually non existent.
Not to mention the beatings that were actually really severe. No one force you to like Sansa, but for god's sake, she's a child beaten on a regular basis by grown men wearing armour!
Boros slammed a fist into Sansaās belly, driving the air out of her. When she doubled over, the knight grabbed her hair and drew his sword, and for one hideous instant she was certain he meant to open her throat. As he laid the flat of the blade across her thighs, she thought her legs might break from the force of the blow. Sansa screamed. Tears welled in her eyes. It will be over soon. She soon lost count of the blows. (ACoK, Sansa III)
And she was literally forced into a child marriage with a man twice her age, married into a family who had been responsible for her father's death, who later murdered her mother and brother.
Let's ask Arya if she'd prefer to live on the run, hungry and in constant danger, or be a captive in King's Landing, forced to marry Tyrion Lannister.
