I’ve been thinking about Spade’s final messages recently, building upon some thoughts that came to me earlier this year.
Ultimately, I think Spade’s last few riddles were trying to tell us that Taylor won’t make major moves (maybe toward coming out) until after she releases all of her re-recorded albums.
As a refresher, these are the last riddles Spade sent:
I think the 🖤 represents the reputation re-record. It fits with the style of the album and was included before the rest of the text in both the 5/31/20 and 6/21/20 riddles. (It may be nothing but note that 5+3+1+2=11 and 6+2+1+2=11. Taylor can re-record rep in November 2022). The riddles are telling us “THEY ARE FREE” only after the rep re-record.
Until very recently, I always viewed the next riddle (“Love does not grow…) in isolation (maybe related to BLM protests that were widespread at the time or solely an Easter egg for Coney Island lyrics). But now I think this riddle is actually clarifying the “THEY ARE FREE” riddles. Closed fists also throw punches. Taylor is fighting back with her re-records and she can’t “bloom” until that’s done. Spade wanted us to know.
The timing of the “THEY ARE FREE” and “Love does not grow…” riddles also aligns with the “Why worry, she blooms in June.” riddle sent on 6/25/2019 —they were both sent almost exactly a year later at the end of Pride Month.
I’m assuming the girls had determined a rough outline of T+K’s plans by the time Spade’s final riddles were sent. Spade knew the road would be long and Kaylors would get upset/angry along the way. Plus, Spade must have known there would be a baby in the mix that would be too sensitive to discuss but hard to ignore. So, they chose to say goodbye. There have likely been pivots behind the scenes but if I’m right then Spade wasn’t simply misleading us at the end (even if it still feels that way). We assumed ‘they were free’ when the riddles were sent but Spade was letting us know it would be a long road.

Not Taylor making an Alice in wonderland reference on the tonight show 😂
Taylor and Taeok Lee
I don't think that Karlie proposed to Taylor and that Taylor said no to her either, but the rumor that Karlie did propose to Taylor and Taylor saying no to her has been floating around for several years and this rumor eventually evolved into an explanation as to why Karlie "married" Josh, people who believe in that rumor think that Karlie was so upset about her proposal being rejected that she distanced herself from her and Taylor's mutual friend group and said yes to Josh when he offered her a lavender marriage because she didn't have any reason to say no to him and that she was too distanced from her friends for them to convince her that a lavender marriage with him would be a bad idea, and that she just stopped being her sunshiney self because she was so miserable that Taylor said no to her.
But yeah... It turns out that a lot of people think that the piano to champagne problems sounds like the piano to New Year's Day and a lot of people also think that champagne problems is the follow-up song to Dancing With Our Hands Tied because of the lyrics, so if Taylor casually said "Oh, champagne problems is about Karlie" then even Swifties at this point would probably be really sympathetic towards her and Karlie, and the line about a sister in champagne problems even made a few people who aren't Kaylors be like, "Did Taylor mean Kimby with that line?" and "Did Taylor mean the dorm's at NYU where Karlie went?"
champagne problems is super distressing to a lot of people and the line about the college dorm room's and the sister are making people think the song isn't fictional and is instead about Karlie because she's the only person in Taylor's life that fits the "Went to college, has a sister" bill that they can think of 😬
The Swifties won’t get it because then that would imply Karlies relationship with jerk is fake. She met Taylor after she was already bearding “dating” Jerk. I don’t think it’s distressing to a lot of people. All Taylor has to do is say it’s James storyline in 3 triangle and people will be like oh that’s not about her life. 🙄That whole storyline doesn’t sound like Karlie to me it sounds like a fan fiction. Folklore.
i’m posting this gay little powerpoint i made ranking potential ts partners due to popular demand…please enjoy my correct opinions :)
Oh wow, yeah... this year will make SEVEN years from when they first met officially in November. There are too many things happening all at once. How can people say they are not together. I mean. How can people believe that. They started their closeness on a trip in the f*cking woods y'all!! 😭
Clandestine meetings, illicit affairs... yeah I’m totally fine... NOT
The New Year midnight is nearly upon us.
As we March into the sunset, 2022 is not the only thing that will expire at midnight.
A fresh page…a new chapter.
Au revoir, à bientôt en tournée.

This November 13th has truly been a celebration.
How it Started:
How it’s going:
‘Twas a happy Kaylor anniversary. Cheers to many more years.
6 years of 1989 / october 27, 2014 - october 27, 2020
we begin our story in new york. there once was a girl known by everyone and no one. her heart belonged to someone who couldn’t stay. they loved each other recklessly. they paid the price. she danced to forget him. he drove past her street each night. she made friends and enemies. he only saw her in his dreams. then, one day, he came back. timing is a funny thing, and everyone was watching. she lost him, but she found herself and somehow ... that was EVERYTHING.
I swear this song is like an onion, as you peel off the layers and deeper you go, there are more connections and meanings, profound implications, and complex emotions, especially if you play around with the point of view..
For instance, as per Taylor (writer), the narrator (presumably her partner) of the song unambiguously endured pain and suffering as a result of being with her through the darkest nights. The lyrics “And if I would've known how many pieces you had crumbled into / I might have let them lay” and then “How sharp the pieces were you'd crumbled into / I might’ve let them lay”, repeated twice, suggests the writer’s anxiety and guilt about damaging the narrator, and if the narrator also wonders whether the damage by association was worth it? One the flip side, the line could imply the narrator’s doubt about their value to Taylor in those darkest nights, if their support helped or worsened the situation (might have let them lay, so left things as they were) because it appears Taylor’s anxiety continues to be an impediment in their relationship. And with the word choice of sharp, the narrator is admitting to being cut by those pieces, otherwise how else would they know how sharp they were..the more I listen to this song,m the more I’m-🥺😭🤯
