Finally got a chance to illustrate my version of John and Arthur!
And here's the digital drawing I made to plan out the ink version :))
thinking about how edyn was described as having an identical face to gill and chip found it attractive. thinking about chip using gills inspiration being used before they even met meaning that they were connected to eachother in some way. thinking about "chip you take 38 psychic damage as you realise what you are". thinking about how chip being instantly attracted to any woman ge meets might be for show (comp het or smth i never read any dialogue on destiny islands) thinking about how the nat 20s in the nat 20 kiss were for how genuine the kiss was. thinking about just how much they care about eachother. that only gillion was able to put chip back on the path to being a pirate and pull him outta his funk. thinking about the fact that chip was more concerned about gill's safety around felipe than jay or gillion himself was.
tl;dr: chibo never beating the allogations
Fish and chips
Drawing arthur lester always involves a game of figuring out "When was the last time this bitch shaved"
take my stupid doodle of that one bit in 52
I think one of my favorite headcanons that i have about chip and gill is that Chip isnt religious, but he still views Gillion as a divine being, as a savior. Chip doesnt pray, but he will get on his knees and worship Gillion.
Because Chip doesn’t worship, but Gillion deserves to be worshipped, and regardless of his status as the chosen one, he did save Chip
i keep thinking about this part, because it just seems so specific a thing to write, considering that harlan didn't have to name this character 'malam'.
merriam-webster says that the first known use of the word 'palindrome' was in 1637 - a far cry from the 1300s - and "in the past palindromes were more than just smart wordplay. Some folks thought they were magical, and they carved them on walls or amulets for protection."
since the episode dropped, i've seen a couple people in the tag mention that at first they thought malam was an alternate version of arthur - i did too. john's description of facial scars, a missing right ear, and differently colored eyes just sounds too reminiscent of arthur to be a coincidence. someone else said that malam's voice is the one closest to john's that harlan has used, and i had that passing thought while listening too.
obviously malam doesn't have arthur's face, since john would notice that, but i just keep thinking about palindrome. the same backwards as forwards.
malam is older, with a 'dark complexion'. he has arthur's scars, and the voice john would have in a human throat. differently colored eyes. he exists to bring justice to dead children. he says our "day of wrath".
the same backwards as forwards.
Do you think chip cringes when he listens to hole in your heart lol
Arthur and John trying the this isn’t you trope on Kayne of all people was kind of hilarious
From beginning to end.
do NOT expect a consistent blog this is just my silly place
