i find it funny that i have followers like are you aware im a loser
The worst thing for me personally is that all the poster boys/chibis that have been used for marketing over and over again are dead and have unsatisfactory endings. Like most people just know MHA because of the villains, which were written wonderfully, but now have lost all their life and character.
This ending is so unsatisfactory/confusing/non-ending like that I firmly believe that Hori started hating the series halfway through end highs or he died and some newbie finished it. Cause you can not tell me that this is supposed to be it?! Where is the promised change with Izuku? Why does it feel like we will be trapped in an infinite samsara with society failing people again and again. Them then turn into villains only to be killed and have no trauma ever addressed.
You mean to tell me that MHA just ended with Izuku all alone, hero society is still fucking broken, so many questions are unanswered and we’re supposed to just be fine with it?!
I know good goddamn well we didn’t wait 10 years just for this shit to happen
I’m tired ya’ll
I’m tired of hearing people say “Disney’s Cinderella is sanitized. In the original tale, the stepsisters cut off parts of their feet to make the slipper fit and get their eyes pecked out by birds in the end.”
I understand this mistake. I’m sure a lot of people buy copies of the complete Grimm’s Fairy Tales, see their tale of Aschenputtel translated as “Cinderella”, and assume what they’re reading is the “original” version of the tale. Or else they see Into the Woods and make the same assumption, because Sondheim and Lapine chose to base their Cinderella plot line on the Grimms’ Aschenputtel instead of on the more familiar version. It’s an understandable mistake. But I’m still tired of seeing it.
The Brothers Grimm didn’t originate the story of Cinderella. Their version, where there is no fairy godmother, the heroine gets her elegant clothes from a tree on her mother’s grave, and where yes, the stepsisters do cut off parts of their feet and get their eyes pecked out in the end, is not the “original.” Nor did Disney create the familiar version with the fairy godmother, the pumpkin coach, and the lack of any foot-cutting or eye-pecking.
If you really want the “original” version of the story, you’d have to go back to the 1st century Greco-Egyptian legend of Rhodopis. That tale is just this: “A Greek courtesan is bathing one day, when an eagle snatches up her sandal and carries it to the Pharaoh of Egypt. The Pharaoh searches for the owner of the sandal, finds her and makes her his queen.”
Or, if you want the first version of the entire plot, with a stepdaughter reduced to servitude by her stepmother, a special event that she’s forbidden to attend, fine clothes and shoes given to her by magic so she can attend, and her royal future husband finding her shoe after she loses it while running away, then it’s the Chinese tale of Ye Xian you’re looking for. In that version, she gets her clothes from the bones of a fish that was her only friend until her stepmother caught it and ate it.
But if you want the Cinderella story that Disney’s film was directly based on, then the version you want is the version by the French author Charles Perrault. His Cendrillon is the Cinderella story that became the best known in the Western world. His version features the fairy godmother, the pumpkin turned into a coach, mice into horses, etc, and no blood or grisly punishments for anyone. It was published in 1697. The Brothers Grimm’s Aschenputtel, with the tree on the grave, the foot-cutting, etc. was first published in 1812.
The Grimms’ grisly-edged version might feel older and more primitive while Perrault’s pretty version feels like a sanitized retelling, but such isn’t the case. They’re just two different countries’ variations on the tale, French and German, and Perrault’s is older. Nor is the Disney film sanitized. It’s based on Perrault.
Dabi is AMAZING and RARE rep for abuse victims.
I'll say it once, twice, a million times. A lot of the time victims do want to hurt or even kill their abusers, being blinded by it and not caring who's hurt in the process, and that's something that's rarely acknowledged in media. More often than not we get character's who have been through therapy, they've made up and made peace with the people who hurt them, they're okay!! But we never get to see what happens when those people don't get the help they need, (well, sometimes we do, but usually we only get to see the madman that was formed by abuse, not the abuse itself. And it's even rarer that we get to see these characters cry or show empathy towards their own victims) which is why I think it's really important for it to be shown. Like, not as a warning, but more as a "yes, other victims think this way. You aren't supposed to be just fine after going through that. You need help, and that's fine."
I do see a lot of people think that abuse victims becoming killers/villains demonizes abuse victims and like,, I find that ridiculously stupid. If you go through heavy trauma, especially if it was inflicted by the people meant to love and take care of you, you will NOT be okay, no matter how okay you think you are, you're not. Victims often DO want to hurt people, they DO think about bad things and do bad things quite often, it's not normal but it's common. Hurt people hurt people sometimes!! It sucks, I know people hate to acknowledge it, but it's TRUE. You can claim that saying that demonizes victims, and maybe it does, but if you don't let people know that they're not alone, they won't even try to get help. And Dabi is a good representation of that no matter what you think. Throughout the show we see him express empathy through actions AND words on occasion (ex. Him crying, while saying he thinks about his victims very often)
Hurt people hurt people, but that doesn't mean they're not people. And Dabi shows that in a way that I haven't seen in any other character.
(I know I repeated myself a couple times but I am SOOO sick and tired. Like, as in, I am tired aswell as sick. Not as in I'm sick n tired of whatever)
Some day, right before the AFO surgery the doctor examines Tomura to make sure he had like an empty stomach and everything because it would be dangerous with something in there. And there he like notices something weird and white and all. And then he like thinks more and suggest to Tomura that his dear significant other should use protection once in a while, especially now. And Tomura is there like :-O
