no

No because why are you upset?

While yes it is hard to believe and a little disappointing that Deku sort of drifted away with like you know talking to his friends and stuff, he still met with them in the end

And thinking about it, no matter what happened, that was what happened for me with my high school friends, we sort of drifted away (minus the fact that I did not save the world đź’€)

And honestly like being a hero looks like a really fuckin hard and time consuming job ya'll really think they have that much extra time on they're hands??

Like ya'll- Deku's still a hero

Did we forget Bakugou started like creating an epic hero suit that would HELP with that???

LIKE STOP COMPLAINING

I'll say this once and I'll say it again

What Horikoshi was trying to say with My Hero Academia is that heros are just ordinary people. Like the term 'hero' is different for everyone. And personally, My Hero Academia is the reason I'm alive rn, and I'm grateful for that because otherwise I wouldn't have met my niece, whom I am very close to. (That child will grow up to do great things and I will do everything I can to support her) and so for this reason, Horikoshi is MY hero because he created this silly show about a kid like me who became a hero in many people's eyes.

Remember the League of Villains? Shigaraki was their hero, wasn't he?

Remember Stain? To a lot of people, he was their hero.

There are so many cases where I personally think that Horikoshi made to say that the term hero means something different for different people, and that hero's are just ordinary people in real life, not people with super strength or super speed, but regular normal people.

Anyway, thank you for your time.

bro can we PLEASE talk about how fucking SHITTY my hero ending was…

IN MY HUMBLE OPINION

i liked the ending for mha

LISTEN LISTEN LISTEN (skip if you don't know)

I get really pissed when ppl are like: omg I hated the ending like what was the point to it its just like

SHUT

SHUT THE FUCK PLS

I think Horikoshi was tryna say that heros are just ordinary people. Maybe its someone who gives you a compliment on a bad day, maybe its your older sibling who was ways looking out for you, maybe it was that one friend who helped you when you were in a tight spot.

Heros are ordinary people, not people who have powers, or losts of physical strength, but people who do good things because it brings a smile on someone elses face or just for the hell of it.

This is the message I think Horikoshi was tryna spread but I could be wrong guys

Anyway I love you all, even the people who didn't like the ending.

Stay safe

And goodbye My Hero Academia, thank you for helping me through some really shitty times.

The worst thing for me personally is that all the poster boys/chibis that have been used for marketing over and over again are dead and have unsatisfactory endings. Like most people just know MHA because of the villains, which were written wonderfully, but now have lost all their life and character.

This ending is so unsatisfactory/confusing/non-ending like that I firmly believe that Hori started hating the series halfway through end highs or he died and some newbie finished it. Cause you can not tell me that this is supposed to be it?! Where is the promised change with Izuku? Why does it feel like we will be trapped in an infinite samsara with society failing people again and again. Them then turn into villains only to be killed and have no trauma ever addressed.

You mean to tell me that MHA just ended with Izuku all alone, hero society is still fucking broken, so many questions are unanswered and we’re supposed to just be fine with it?!

I know good goddamn well we didn’t wait 10 years just for this shit to happen

I’m tired ya’ll

My Hero Academia: An Ending Where Deku Didn’t Lose His Power

Dear Listeners!

You may have heard that upon the ending of the grand story of heroes versus villains, Deku had given up his powers to save Shigaraki, graduated UA Academy having reverted to a quirkless kid, never became a pro-hero, and ended up as a teacher in UA Academy, whereas for the past 8 years, his friends have scoured the heights as Japan’s top pro heroes.

What if I told you that this is…not true?

What if I told you that the real ending is one where Deku got to save Shigaraki without losing his powers?

If you believe me, that there is such an ending, then listener, read on. This is the story of how Deku became the greatest hero in the world!

***

The time has come to part ways with One For All.

Deku remembers that fateful day he first met All Might, the day the number 1 hero told him that, despite him being quirkless, “You can become a hero.”

That day, he remembered his mom’s despairing cries as she held him tight, apologising profusely, because to his question of “Mom, can I still be a hero?” her unsaid answer was “No, Izuku, you can’t possibly become a hero.”

For years, Deku could only hold on to the thinnest thread of hope that by some miraculous turn of events, he could somehow become a hero. That unrealistic plea for a miracle was his salvation, the reason he could look forward to the unknown future despite bearing deep, scaring sadness that he is quirkless, and the ever looming reality waiting to slap him every once in a while, that he won’t ever become a hero.

He never would’ve guessed that All Might would not only tell him otherwise, but All Might would also transfer his powerful quirk to him, now putting him on the path of a bright future as what he’s always dreamed of all his life – a hero.

So when Deku realised that the only way to save Shigaraki was by transferring all his powers to Shigaraki, Deku would be lying if he said he didn’t feel the crippling fear of again being reduced to a quirkless nobody crawling back up his mind.

“Saving Shigaraki – give it up Izuku, some people out there, they just can’t be saved.” Screamed one of the previous holders of One for All.

“Izuku! Your only option is to annihilate Shigaraki in a single blow, leaving nothing behind!” Cried Nana Shimura, the 7th holder of One for All as well as the biological grandmother of Shigaraki Tomura, “Accept that fact! Bear it Izuku! Just charge up for a strike even mightier than before!”

To defeat Shigaraki, yes, perhaps it would be enough to land the mightiest blow ever known to man on the mega villain who has annihilated countless innocent lives just because ... just because of what exactly?

In that split second, Deku remembers the words Shigaraki spat, full of hatred, “You heroes ignored those you couldn’t protect…and swept all those pain under the rag, laughing around ignorantly, like there is no one you could save!”

And in the second that follows, a thought was reignited in Deku’s mind, it rang resolutely, clearly, kindly. “I want to save that little boy!” Without room for any further thoughts to form in Deku’s blazing thoughts, despite his fear being ever so present, ever so frightening, but wholeheartedly pushed back to the furthest parts of his mind, Deku drew the biggest breath he ever did and from the bottom of his heart screamed out his unwavering resolution, “No! I have to ask why he can’t let go…of that sad lonely past of his! All he did was put a lid on it. So until that lid shatters to pieces,” full of tears, Deku resolutely casts his eyes straight at Shigaraki, “I won’t stop smashing at it!”

And so he did. Deku gave up his power to save Shigaraki. And by saving Shigaraki, Deku had stopped Shigaraki’s destruction of the world.

It was supposed to be a joyous occasion, Deku in his entire being was thankful to have been able to reach Shigaraki and saved his heart out of the pits of despair, his fear never disappeared and tore at Deku’s heart. Deku had saved Shigaraki, but his heart was screaming in raw pain. His entire being knew that he had just lost the fire in his being.

And so Deku fell to his knees and couldn’t stop sobbing. Those little sobs turned into gushes of tears, and Deku was tearing up in anguish. His dreams of becoming a hero, gone just like that.

Deku hadn’t noticed that a pair of calmed gentle eyes had noticed his pains, his thoughts full of realisation. This person had seen what Deku’s powers mean to him. Despite his powers meaning the world to Deku, he was willing to give up his power, his everything just to save him. Shigaraki was saved. Deku had saved Shigaraki. Shigaraki remembered that once, he had wished with all his heart to become a hero. And so, his hand reached towards Deku.

And in that moment, Deku could feel someone’s warm hands on his head, as if trying to comfort him, but with every stroke, Deku could feel his fire back in his soul, as if…as if his powers were coming back to him. Impossible.

Immediately, Deku shot up, shocked, how can this be. But there Shigaraki was, transferring his power back to him, why, Deku couldn’t believe it. So Shigaraki told him why, with his eyes now full of salvation,

You looked like you were asking for help…

That day, on that battleground, the sky was not the only thing that cleared up.

Even years later, no one could’ve foreseen that Deku’s decision to not only defeat Shigaraki but to save him as well would not only end up saving the people of that time and place, but also the people in the coming times. Because when Shigaraki returned Deku’s powers to him, he not only returned One for All, Shigaraki also restored the power that it originally was, a power that was finally reunited with All for One, revealing the true potential of the power that had been separated for the longest of times, the power to lend a helping hand to those in need, the power of a hero.

With the true form of his powers unleashed, Deku continued to grow, and continued to help many people all over the world, without ever forgetting the true essence of what makes a hero, what made him the hero who wields both the One for All and All for One which made all of that possible, making him the number 1 hero across the world.

Listeners, this would not have happened if Deku simply chose to defeat Shigaraki. This was possible because Deku chose to defeat and save Shigaraki, who saw that Deku was truly doing the things Deku promised he would, that Deku was truly a hero.

The decision to save Shigaraki came at the price of something that was most precious to Deku. But Deku chose to sacrifice that in order to help Shigaraki, and hey, that’s the point from the beginning isn’t it.

What makes a hero?

A hero is someone who lives up to the spirit of self-sacrifice, just like that zero pointer gimmick machine at the beginning of the series. There is absolutely no benefit from defeating that robot, but that is where the true essence of a hero rises to the surface, the spirit of self-sacrifice, of heroism.

So with his powers restored, Deku went on to become the number 1 pro hero in the world, because he had the powers to back him up in his endeavors. But, know this. From the moment Deku battled Shigaraki and decided to cast away all his dreams and sacrifice his future to save Shigaraki, Deku from that moment and onwards, had already become the greatest hero who showed true heroism values with his actions.

Because as promised, this is the story of how Deku became the greatest hero in the world!

*** Note: I've loved BNHA since its launch 10 years ago. Now I am a corporate lawyer with barely enough time to indulge anymore! But when I heard that BNHA was ending, I knew that I just had to pick it up again. After finishing the manga, I knew that I just had to write something about my favorite series.

But I have to first say upfront that I can see the beauty of the ending that Kohei Horikoshi chose for us and I respect that he decided that Deku ultimately losing his powers (and eventually becoming a hero 8 years later as a mecha-warrior) was the best ending he could’ve given us for his highly loved popular series.

Please consider my writing not as a mockery of the original ending, but as an enthusiastic fan’s take on the series. I hope you enjoyed reading this entry as much as I loved writing it!
