I don't even see how it's any of my business if someone feels like using the aromantic or asexual designations while they're figuring things out. Most of us used another group's label while we were figuring out that we were asexual or aromantic.

We may have called ourselves heterosexual, heteroromantic, bisexual, biromantic, or any of dozens of other labels that “weren't yours to use” even while we know they didn't feel exactly right. We used them because they were the closest thing to right, for the time being, and it felt weird to say “I'm something, but I don't know what.” The world didn't end. The orientation whose label we borrowed didn't fall apart or lose its validity.

If asexual or aromatic feel like a close enough description, even though you're new to all of this and you're not sure if they're the right description, then seriously, use the label! Take your time. It could be the “not sure” feelings are just a lifetime of allonormativity, amatonormativity, or other normativities just wearing off, or it could be this is just the best stepping stone to an even deeper discovery. Either way, they're just words, and if aromatic an asexual are useful words, then use them!

The Wait-And-See stage has started again thank Go... Sat... someone, and we know Neil is not going to give us any spoiler. But we forget that he's already told us the most important thing of all, over and over. He has told us that everything is going to be ok. And we know he's a Demon and he lies but, like our favourite (former) Demon he might lie but he keeps his word. He has told us everything is going to be ok and he has told that he chose 3 of songs in the ineffable playlist, one of which, he has told us, is The Book Of Love (I've got goosebumps just by writing that song title here). He told us long ago that he imagines Aziraphale and Crowley retired in a cottage in the South Downs. He's told us that he'll get us where we need to be, so don't worry, just enjoy the ride. The ride will be a roller coaster, the ride will make you laugh and will make you cry, the ride will have incredible highs and unbearable lows, the ride might break you. But it will get you there, and when you finally get there you'll be made whole again and the new whole you will be more than the sum of the broken parts. Like a gentle parent telling their child to not worry, it can be scary but it's worth it. Like a friend encouraging us to savour every moment without worrying of what lies ahead. Because what lies ahead will be ok. We just have to enjoy the ride that gets us there.

I'm not really on the team that swears to Jesus and beyond that Crowley lost his memories after the Fall. Yes, of course, he forgot some stuff because, ya know, he has been alive for more than 6000 years and if I don't remember what I ate for lunch yesterday, Satan knows he won't remember every single second of his life, but he remembers the important things

"Ah, but what about him not remembering fighting alongside FurFur or building the thingy with Saraqael?"

Love, I give you two options:

Those are either some of the stuff he didn't consider important enough to remember OR he is just straight up fucking with them. He does remember, but why reveal it if playing dumb sometimes is good in the long run? Might be useful

Alas, I don't know, but I will die on the hill that he does remember

Which means he most probably remembers meeting Aziraphale. Not because Aziraphale was "important" at the time per se, or because it was love at first sight (because it wasnt, not for him. Bro was so focused on the nebula he didnt even introduce himself when Aziraphale did. He threw him a "Right. Nice to meet ya. Anyway, nebula time!"), but because he was there when Crowley created the nebula and, as he said, he had been waiting for that moment since "well, always". It's an important moment for him, so he remembers. Aziraphale just so happened to be present

I don't know if that was the only interaction they had in Heaven or not (and that's not the point I'm trying to get to so I will ignore that problem for a later post, maybe), but when the now Demon Crawley was sent up to the Garden, he did remember Aziraphale. That's why he approached him

Cmon, Crowley isn't stupid. Of course he wouldn't approach an angel on the wall just willy nilly and make conversation. He didn't know Aziraphale had given away the flaming sword yet. Just approaching an angel from behind and morph into a demon next to him out of nowhere could be a death sentence. Or at least an A Line for a good smitting

Yet, he did it. He had at least 3 other angels to choose from but he approached the angel that he remembered from back in the beginning that was kind enough to help him with the engine of the nebula. Hell! I even bet this was not the first time they saw each other in the Garden!

Bet they've seen and observed each other from afar a few times while they interacted with the humans (yes, cause I believe Crawley, before tempting Eve, tried to gain her trust. It's easier to listen to a friend than a random snake) or just around the Garden really.

That's why Aziraphale didn't get surprised when Crawley showed up at the wall, because he knew the demon snake had been around the Garden for a while. He probably even recognized him as the former Star Maker and hoped he was still a little bit of his old self so he allowed himself to engage in conversation

Anyhow, another clue? This:

He remembers how Heaven works. He remembers he was a high ranking angel. Satan, he remembers the bloody passwords!

Do you know what else he remembers?

Cause they didn't throw that line in there for nothing. No, gents. Cmon. Nothing is random in Good Omens

He knows who he was. He remembers being the Star Maker that hung the stars in the sky

He remembers why he fell, for goodness sake

And the fact that he remembers everything makes all of it so much more tragic, doesn't it? He remembers his life before the Fall, his supposed friends that dragged him into the pit with them, what Her love felt like, the "mistakes" he made that led to his Fall

And it must have hurt. It must have hurt so much when he found himself in a pit of boiling sulfur with his wings completely burned and without Her love because he remembered it all. He must have been so bloody confused for so long

He might have regretted it. All the questions and the company he kept that made him Fall. But he doesn't anymore.

He knows he doesn't need Heaven, he doesn't need Hell. They are toxic. All he needs is his pacific fragile existence on Earth with Aziraphale and yet...well, that's something else he won't forget now, is it?

*clears throat*

I rest my case

It’s so funny trying to figure out Aziraphale because what I see is half of his character being righteous and good, and then another 30 percent is being a really indulgent older gay man who is nice but definitely judgmental of people he doesn’t like, and then another 15 percent is this horny soft dom who is orchestrating incredibly complicated situations to turn on his bitchy little sub, and then the other 5 percent is a frenzied uncontrollable side that comes out when he’s under extreme duress and has no problem burning everything down if he must.

idk if it’s a common take or i just happened to see it a couple of times, but i’ve seen people interpreting the way aziraphale struggles to call crowley his friend in 1941 as “he can’t even bare to call him his friend”. but in the context of that night, after that look at the church, i think his struggle comes more from knowing that “friend” isn’t the right word to describe what they have (more specifically, what they feel) and that by calling him that, he’s denying them of something. in short, treating crowley in bro terms makes him cringe because he doesn’t feel very brotherly about him.

Good Omens | 1.01 In The Beginning

Ah yes, my favourite Bible fanfics, in no particular order

I've seen a number of posts taking Aziraphale to task for hesitating over the word "friends" in 1941 and here's my take.

Neither of them names their relationship before 1941. It's always The Arrangement, and they deny anything else because Heaven and Hell are always listening/watching (many many great metas on their coded language elsewhere so I won't get into it here).

But then this happens in 1941:

"It would take a real miracle for my friend and I to survive it."

Crowley just SAYS it. (Code again, always, but said out loud.) Then the books. The touch. The "oh."

It's not JUST the books. It is that Crowley has NAMED them, named this. Admitted what they had to deny in 1601.

So not a half hour later Aziraphale says this. In public!

He takes the very next possible opportunity to communicate to Crowley - "I heard you. I understood you. I feel the same."

AND JUST TO BE SURE, he says it again, in private, with softness in his look and his voice.

Look at the way he glances away just before the word friends. He wants to use another word, but can't. So he will say it again, in code, but again so Crowley understands.

"I see you. I understood. I understand. I feel the same."
