can we talk about peeta - the one that fandom & probably most other characters within the universe itself misguidedly believe is weaker than katniss and a pacifist that refuses to kill - murdered brutus, the largest and most athletic/muscular tribute in the arena, a man both three times peeta's size and twice his age, with probably decades of physical training and bloodlust under his belt... and he did it because the love of his life was in danger??
Readers be like, Peeta is too good, too perfect when you read the books, it’s annoying!
But, guys, he is not! Not at all! It’s just we read what Katniss thinks and she is head over heels in love with him. He saved her life when she was 11, she always saw him like he was perfect, because he was perfect for her! She describes him like he is the most righteous man in the galaxy, because he is for her, we read her story.
But if you look at Peeta, at everything he was doing, he is one manipulative son of a bitch.
He manipulated the crowd into seeing Katniss as someone desirable, he lied a lot to get sponsors for her. He knew she had something going on with Gale (although she didn’t have anything yet, but he thought she did) and still flirted his way into her heart.
One thing certain, he did love Katniss unconditionally. He would do anything for her. And that’s why she only sees how perfect her boy with a bread is, because he is perfect for her.
And come on, we all would sell our souls to have a partner as devoted as Peeta.

katniss is so funny she’s like “oh i know i care about peeta but i don’t know if i love him” then they have to sedate her every time she thinks of peeta being tortured

✨ Teach me how to look at you. I promise I’ll be a fast learner. ✨
And they are.
Oh, but they are.
Honestly 80% of the reason I ship Zutara is because I believe both Katara and Zuko deserve simps, and they both are simps. Simp x simp supremacy
how do you think it happened?
was it the realization that hit her in the dead of night, with only his steady breath and the ghosts of a forgotten district to keep her company?
the realization that the ache in her chest when she saw him in pain was not simply a heart attack. or that the subtle pitter patters that danced around her heart only seemed to accompany him.
was it the smile that she couldn't help but bare as she whisked her feet towards the towering victor's village? where he would be awaiting her, arms offering bread. offering life.
was it the warmth that spread from her fingertips as his knuckles fit perfectly against hers. uniting them. as friends. as allies. as something so much more.
was it the soft kisses that peppered caresses that wiped away tears? tears of a tormented past. mixed with the reassurance that, after everything, at least they still had each other. and that was enough.
or did it come slowly? as she stared at the curves of his face in the dark, illuminated by candlelight. reminding her of the different colors and shapes that touched his face in their years together.
like the bruise he bore to save her. or the crinkle in between his eyebrows that deepened when he realized she was going to do anything to save him. even if that meant she didn't make it home. or the terror that flooded his features as he refused to let her go. making her live to see another day.
and maybe, in the quiet solitude of their room, the memory of his many faces sprinkled throughout their history pointed to one thing. his goodness.
the goodness that forged them together. from the bread to the primrose. the goodness that reminded her that there was a future to hope for. the goodness that reminded her that she had goodness of her own. and that she always had.
how do you think it happened? that inevitable declaration. the kind that wasn't as much of a declaration but rather a confirmation of feelings brewing under the surface. feelings that crept up on her.
ones that had been real all along.
Broke: "Katniss was only with Peeta because of their shared trauma of the Games and the events that followed. After what they went through together, there was no one who truly understood her like Peeta. But if Prim and Peeta had never been reaped, Katniss would have ended up with Gale/stayed single."
Woke: "The Games and the events that followed brought Katniss and Peeta together, but there was something special between them since the day with the bread. Katniss had a subconscious interest in him since they were 11, and after the reaping she couldn't help but fall for him due to their close proximity. The Games weren't her reason for choosing Peeta, but they were a catalyst for their relationship."
Bespoke: "The Games did more to hinder Katniss and Peeta's relationship than to help it. In fact, without the Games to complicate things, Katniss would have fallen for Peeta fast and hard. The Games and the events that followed were responsible for countless barriers to their love including (but not limited to):
1. Instilling in Katniss a distrust of Peeta that did not come naturally to her
2. Forcing her to act in love, regardless of the authenticity of her feelings, in order to survive
3. Broadcasting every moment they shared, no matter how intimate/private, onto every screen in every house in the country
4. Driving them apart due to the pain and confusion that followed the inevitable end of her "star-crossed lovers" act
5. Making their relationship a political tool of manipulation and oppression
6. Leading Snow to hold Katniss personally responsible for defusing the civil unrest within the Districts by means of their love story
7. Forcing them under threat of death to act in love for the rest of their lives, thereby taking away their agency and ability to choose each other out of real love or desire
8. Robbing them of a future together, even if they wanted it, by returning Katniss to the Games and ensuring the death of at least one of them
9. Traumatizing them in ways they'll have to deal with for the remainder of their lives
10. So many other things
The Hunger Games is NOT the story of how Katniss fell in love with Peeta due to or even during the Games. It's the story of how Katniss fell in love with Peeta IN SPITE OF THEM."
if you recommend me a good zutara fic ill kiss your cute lil head
as brilliant as it is that this seems to be one of lucy gray's songs that was lost to time, how much do you think snow would have lost his shit if katniss had sung "pure as the driven snow" to peeta in one of the arenas
every time I think about what Ekko must have gone through whenever he had to fight Jinx, I feel... unwell.
can you imagine having to raise your hand to strike the only one who remembers you during the softer times, the one you like to think is the real you, the one you can't seem to let go?
can you imagine what you have to rip out of yourself to do that and go on, and live with yourself afterwards? how you start seeing yourself after that?
excruciating.
we know some of Jinx's demons, but Ekko's shadow must have grown inward, suffocating him,
poisoning him before he got to really know himself.
and yet... love stayed.
