Investigating patterns of degeneration in Alzheimer's disease
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is known to cause memory loss and cognitive decline, but other functions of the brain can remain intact. The reasons cells in some brain regions degenerate while others are protected is largely unknown. In a paper to be published in Stem Cell Reports, researchers from Brigham and Women's Hospital have found that factors encoded in the DNA of brain cells contribute to the patterns of degeneration, or vulnerability, in AD.

Game-changing Study: Epigenetic Memories are Passed Down 14 Successive Generations
The past of our ancestors lives on through us: Groundbreaking research illustrates how parental experience is not only epigenetically imprinted onto offspring, but onto an unprecedented number of future generations. Rather than occurring over the elongated time scale of millions of years, genetic change can transpire in real biological time through nanoparticles known as exosomes

7 Ways To Be An Ally To Native Peoples This Thanksgiving

7 Ways to Be An Ally to Native Peoples This Thanksgiving

In the United States, so much of what Americans are thankful for — our families, homes, the foods we enjoy — are the products of ongoing colonization. We might feel grateful for the place we grew up, but that place exists on stolen land. Coming together with family can be challenging, as we all have different ideas of what “America” is. Yet, if there’s one thing many folks can agree on, it’s that in the history of this country, Native people were wronged.

With the arrival of European settlers, an estimated 90% of the millions of Indigenous peoples — a number debated to be between 20 and 100 million — died. It wasn’t just from disease: The colonizing settlers enacted genocide of Indigenous peoples through starvation, torture, and massacres. It may be true that the “first Thanksgiving” was a peaceful gathering of Pilgrims and Wampanoag people, who together celebrated the Pilgrims’ first harvest in 1621. But given the massive genocide their ancestors experienced at the hands of European colonizers, it’s hard for Indigenous folks to see this holiday as anything other than a national day of mourning.

“What’s wrong with Thanksgiving is not so much the celebration as it is the American mythology that surrounds it,” Alaina Comeaux, an Ishak activist who works to decolonize history, tells Teen Vogue. “It allows for a certain whitewashed fantasy that erases the devastating impacts of colonization that persist to this day.”

Native peoples continue to fight for their lands and sovereignty while facing exceptional rates of poverty, suicide, and sexual violence, so it’s way past time for more Americans to acknowledge the difficult truths at the heart of Thanksgiving. If you’d like to do your part to help rewrite the story at your gathering this year, here are some ways you can start working toward a more just future.

“The Real Art To Lovemaking Is Not Merely Physical.  It Is An Intimate Act Of Penetrating The Depth

“The real art to lovemaking is not merely physical.  It is an intimate act of penetrating the depth of each others universal being (mind, heart and soul); experiencing a mystical doorway into divine remembrance.”  -Anon I mus (Spiritually Anonymous)

Spiritual Alchemy : Polarity pt3

Spiritual Alchemy : Polarity Pt3

Excerpt from The Book of Lambspring

“ The Sages say truly That two animals are in this forest: One glorious, beautiful, and swift, A great and strong deer; The other an unicorn. They are concealed in the forest, But happy shall that man be called Who shall snare and capture them. The Masters shew you here clearly That in all places These two animals wander about in forests (But know that the forest is but one). If we apply the parable to our Art, We shall call the forest the Body. That will be rightly and truly said. The unicorn will be the Spirit at all times. The deer desires no other name But that of the Soul; which name no man shall take away from it.”

This is a way to create a better understanding of the different parts by breaking them down into smaller components. This emblem is about the differences that is within us all. Lambspring’s view is the stag is our soul and the unicorn is our spirit. I feel this is more about the act of thoughts and correlation to higher planes. What difference is there between soul and spirit since both are metaphysical.

The forest once again represents our body. Deep with in the forest a stag represents our mind. It states that man will be happy if he can capture them. You can’t capture thoughts as much as being a watcher of them. This is where effort needs to be applied in order to “catch” what you are thinking. Thoughts manifest into reality when proper intent is placed behind them.

The unicorn represents thoughts in its purest form. White is the process of Albedo. The alchmist has broken the darkness of the ego to let the sharp point of the inner being shine through.

If I may add a correspondence: This is the same as Malkuth (stag) and Yesod (unicorn). Malkuth is the physical realm where all the work needs to be done in. Purifying yourself via meditation and other exercises, frees one from the physical. Once freed you are now traveling in Yesod or having an out of body experience. Again the polarity exists between physical and metaphysical.

Standing Dumbbell Upright Row:

Grasp a dumbbell in each hand with a pronated (palms forward) grip that is slightly less than shoulder width. The dumbbells should be resting on top of your thighs. Your arms should be extended with a slight bend at the elbows and your back should be straight. This will be your starting position.

Use your side shoulders to lift the dumbbells as you exhale. The dumbbells should be close to the body as you move it up and the elbows should drive the motion. Continue to lift them until they nearly touch your chin. Tip: Your elbows should drive the motion. As you lift the dumbbells, your elbows should always be higher than your forearms. Also, keep your torso stationary and pause for a second at the top of the movement.

Lower the dumbbells back down slowly to the starting position. Inhale as you perform this portion of the movement.

Repeat for the recommended amount of repetitions.

Caution: Be very careful with how much weight you use in this exercise. Too much weight leads to bad form, which in turn can cause shoulder injury. I’ve seen this too many times so please no jerking, swinging and cheating. Also, if you suffer from shoulder problems, you may want to stay away from upright rows and substitute by some form of lateral raises.

Variations: This exercise can also be performed using a straight bar attached to a low pulley and it can also be performed using an e-z bar.
