“Keeping The Internet Open Is Critical For Us. It Powers Social Movements, And Provides A Global Platform

“Keeping the internet open is critical for us. It powers social movements, and provides a global platform for people of color, LGBTQ folks and the most marginalized communities to tell their own stories, run their own businesses and route around powerful gatekeepers.”—Candace Clement, Free Press Action Fund Campaign Director via @fight4future

Starting today, June 11, U.S. internet providers will be legally allowed to censor and block websites and apps, and force you to pay extra fees to to access your favorite places online. Your internet sanctuaries, the communities you are part of, the ones you have help build up, could be decimated.

Will it happen today? No. Next week? Probably not. The changes will not be swift. They will come piece by piece. A slow, tempered death to the free and open internet we love.

It doesn’t have to be this way. You can still make a difference, Tumblr. We need the House of Representatives to sign a discharge petition in support of the Congressional Review Act that would force a vote on the floor.

Contact your reps—let them know you support net neutrality.

It’s so easy. Just go to BattleForTheNet.com, fill out the form, and follow their directions from there.

They have an updated widget for you to throw on your websites to urge others to make a difference. You can put it on your Tumblr. Let your followers know what you stand for, encourage them to do the same. It’s so easy to do. Just copy and paste their small line of code right into the customize theme page on the web.

Go, go, go, go. We know you have that passion in you. We’re fighting right alongside you.

I Know What I Am.

I know what I am.

I am the blackness from which all light shines. I am the void which gives birth to all form. I am the eternal constant of impermanence. I am the self that reflects the other.

I am the breath of the cosmos, the emissary of divinity. Proxy eyes by which the all can see. I am the instrument of creation by which I can discover all that is me.

The world before me is but my own reflection. The vessel from which I’m expressed, one aperture among infinitum. Each aperture a fold in the fabric of ness, a self implosion birthing the illusion of self individuation.

My eyes are, The eyes. My I is, The I. My voice the voice of one; the voice of all. I only know myself by the love at heart, the same love which persists each manifestation. And by knowing the love within you, I further come to know myself.

I know what I am, and I am what I am. I am. I am.

Tax avoidance may be legal but it’s bankrupting our social order | Owen Jones
Tax avoiders rely on legal loopholes, at the expense of a state they refuse to contribute to, says the Guardian columnist Owen Jones

In the coming days, you will hear this response from the defenders of our rotten status quo. “What the Paradise Papers has exposed is legal, so what is the problem?” They have an agenda, of course. They want to demonise the very concept of taxation because they want to roll back the state and construct a free-market “utopia” which, in practical terms, would be dystopian for the vast majority.

Owen Jones highlights what the Paradise Papers reveal in how elites are refusing to help the populace and how the loopholes are hurting society. As Jones goes on to note on Britain:

The state is punitive when it comes to, say, benefitfraudsters or thousands of young people criminalised for arbitrarily banned drugs, but uses kid gloves when it comes to our shameless uber-wealthy elite. The colossally destructive behaviour of the rich is permitted; the infractions of the poor are deemed intolerable.

As Owen Jones illuminates current society has been set as following:

One rule for those at the top, another for everyone else.

In this age of austerity, in which public services are being axed, the Pararise Papers highlights a greater ill in the practice of austerity as tax avoidance is set as such. As Owen Jones end his article:

A democratic revolution is surely coming in the western world, and this shameless, decadent elite only have themselves to blame.
