its sad how nothing was known about him for years and ppl just were able to craft their own narrative. I remember when people thought he was classy bougie and intelligent for years and then before he left he posted a video of him crip walking to a young thug song in the middle of the street and he said it was okay cause nobody was around. When fans thought he was a romantic sweet respectable young lad in reality, Bizzle B was his idol.

people always act like analytical people be doing to much...when the reality is this world is not peaches and cream. When money is involved people get evil. I said something fishy was going on first sm trying to sell to the highest bidder before the new years even roll in. They barely promoted any of their artists latest projects, no decent interviews nothing, they are mainly focused on touring nct, pushing this huge exo comeback that they clearly didn’t even think about cause if they were smart they would have done it last year not in the middle of the year when two members could have been called to the military at any time. This company weird and I hope all the papa lee clowns understand these kpop companies/ent companies/companies period don’t care about nobody a whole baby products company was selling stuff they knew had asbestos in it to new parents for decades.
S.m ent in paticular has always given me slimy gross creepy vibes simply because of how they treated certain people, no way you could treat people like garbage ignore mental health, physical health and allow kids to sign their lives away knowing you not even going to recommend them to a doctor after you’re threw with them that’s evil. It’s sad fans only see it when it’s right in front of their eyes or their idols themselves are explaining openly that they fell victim to a company’s evil. It’s not just the company it’s the fans as well they have made a bad situation even worse with their dehumanizing kpop idols treating them like parasocial barbie dolls, this ain’t life sized
but it’s slowly becoming that I swear if yall could by a synthetic robot clone of these idols for the right price yall probably would.
Like something should ping when it’s socially acceptable for someone to have to apologize for having a baby and a wife. I’m sorry I don’t even have time to go into it but the yaoi boyband fanservice industry
(SMAP 1980s actual babies when they came up in the industry)
pioneered by creepozoid 9000 Johnny Kitagawa
Should have never prospered the way it did. For some reason Japan kind of kept it going but there was a gradual cultural acceptance of hey maybe if these boys who never got to have a childhood want to one day get married and have a family or a lover..who cares(for the most part they aren’t perfect but they are wayyy better than they used to be). The idea is basically “As long as they keep performing and giving the fans what they love we will accept it”
Because I think in kpop the first thing you see is this the ready to be consumed and sexualized by the public product
For many groups despite childhood photos and a few pictures showing that these idols that to the young fans at the time are soo mature...actually aren’t.
Even early 20s 19/18 although legal in most places is scary young to be accessible to the public as a hot or sexy idol. I’ll never forget that interview where kai and baekyun were like legal but still very young and an interviewer asked them if they watched p*rn they were shocked but played along. Now and days when kids first get off of disney people usually take it easy on them and ask light questions the fact that it was considered socially acceptable for the public to have access to such private and personal information of two young men by a grown ass adult can only be understood that they weren’t just young guys they were idols, it was just the begining of what would eventually become necessary. They may not have been forced to talk about personal details but they would later be expected to be sex objects.
Of course grown artists can be mature and make mature content but I think the problem comes in with the fact that the members, although fans knew them as trainee’s, they knew them and their idol persona’s as trainee’s. Very few fans probably saw them as what they were just young kids, well trained young kids but at the end of the day even in my early 20s, kids fresh out of highschool to me may as well be middle schoolers but they were seen as more than that. Immediately every member of exo became free fandom real estate. Millions of tweets, fanfics, tumblr post, youtube reactions etc they had no control over.
I’m not blaming the fans many were super young themselves probably younger than the members in the group I’m just saying when you look back this situation was not a good one. They never had a chance.
I think not being able to date openly, or have kids or express themselves like normal people their age definitely took a toll. The company is at fault but the fans are basically their captors, the company is selling but the fans are buying. They had to be the perfect products.
Honestly the ideal of a boyband is really a boybrand.
The goal for any dude in a boyband is to get out of it...obviously.
But in kpop it’s like the fans never ever want that to happen(unless they have a dating scandal) even if they weren’t being treated right// in reality they want to go home to their families//which is normal. People act like the fact that idols are so busy they barely see their families is no big deal//its a very big deal. They are missing out on milestones, birthdays, family reunions, they loose family members. Like that’s crazy that doesn’t really register to fans.
At the end of the day fans are like the actual bosses of celebs everybody is fake nice to their boss. That’s why it’s so important to above all care about the art first, like the persona and respect the person underneath or else you will get your feelings hurt. It’s a sticky situation, yes they want their job but they also want..more than privacy..it’s not just about oh yes I’m a good fan I respect their privacy. Who wants to hide a relationship or their child or their spouse for goodness sakes it’s sick. It’s reminding me of the capital..seriously all kpop fans should watch the hunger games catching fire. The tributes constantly performing for the crowd the audience who want to see them with specific people
cheering for the secret lovers not understanding they were in reality fighting for their lives. Sadly trauma bonding made some of them actually seek companionship with one another cause what other choice do they have/ but they literally had to fake a relationship or have pretend none at all if they were heavily desired. Cause the viewers want specific tributes to be together even though literally they were all suffering despite looking amazing.
Seriously it’s so similar to ent industry stuff going on all over the world it’s crazy.
I just feel like people only get woken up out of the illusion that any of this glitter is in fact not gold when its their group that is having issues.
everytime a woman says they are only reading a book or consuming certain media cause a male pop star said he personally likes it my heart fades away all of woman kind weeps
It can be true but the patriarchy is strong enough no need to even say stuff like that.
Especially cause a lot of times the books are written by female authors. I wonder is it is the fame association or the fact that its men giving stuff validity. I think the goal of men reading women centric work is to understand women better and the fans want to know what the guy likes but many never give an actual opinion.
Even if they did the point is to form your own opinion which will never be the same as a mans not really.
4 example a looooong time ago when I was a teen kji was still recommending books to fans back when fans read actual books. A lot of girls got sprung by the fact that he read a korean translation of me before you
( I only watched the movie and ended up reading the second book cause finnick from hunger games and khalessi from game of thrones was in it) but it was a big deal at the timw.
Now and days it is really not in the sm ent image to be intellectual for some reason, I suppose fans don't like that idk.
Many thought of it as a...indicator of him being..idk romantic.
Which..is possible but actually looking back in his old interviews he basically said he mainly read books to imagine himself in the main role he said this many times.
So he generally has little interest reading books he wouldn't want to be in. Me before you was a tragic romance which is basically his entire acting career. Andante, he cared for ill people the entire drama and his girlfriend who passes away. Spring has come, he cared for his girlfriends family and eventually his sick mother. Miracle that we met, literally played an angel...guardian angel..like that's very obvious.
Even the superm show as we wish where for like the first time ever the managers said the members get to create the mini dramas they want to star in.
Mark even reenacted his parents engagement story. Kji ended up doing a tragic romance that included memory loss and a car accident. It lowkey is neverending cause he even made it clear he hates romance but talked about a romance movie from the 70s he watched....where the fiance died.
Bonus round he only has writing credits on one song and it makes a reference to this movie. A very obvious reference.
Some people like what they like for very specific reasons. Even if you read the book or watch the movie you can't feel how they felt while consuming that same thing. It is good to pass on likes or learn of new things from people but its your own personal experience that matters.
I love watching golden girls because I think old people are like large adult babies who can talk, most people would never know thats basically the only reason I watched the show so many times.
This stuff although is there to just figure out but I think many assume korean is so hard to understand and confusing we must rely on social media to tell us who the kdolls are. 1stly tv interviews say much more than fansubs and fandoms. Many people do say a lot about who they are but many people read more fanfic than interviews. Some read both but the fandom version is more fun. I can say this cause I read kpop fanfic since like 2014 neve got in the way of like me knowing real personalities and fandom creations. This is shots fired for some people at least but kji isn't really shy..sm made him shy. He was super go getting and excited back in 2012 . Some may disagree that this was fake and the real him is shy, but I disagree, outside of Korea is usually when he's more talkative both to strangers and in general. Now it's reserved for the fans and outside of that he was typically mum. Nobody saw that kji again until at least a year into super m. Not simply clowning around but speaking his peace and defending himself and sharing his opinions.
In super m he got to be loud and obnoxious without censor because that's "American style" promotion. Cool guys can also be funny and total jerks yet still well liked in America.
yes he is an anxious person but not shy and introvert is a stretch.
Shy baby bear jongin at least to the degree it's been sold is giving noona fanservice I'm sorry. Anyone can be shy at any given moment but shy as in a personality trait is a bit much for anyone who's an idols and literally interacts with new people everyday.
I LOVE pseudoscience and feel like many things in pseudoscience are very accurate and have a lot of truth in them. But personality tests are iffy at best and go only surface level of what makes up a person. I also don't believe the basis of the test is ... good either
It's important to note that it was made to pigeon hole women more than actually discover who a person truly was on the inside.
Those personality test are inaccurate on multiple levels, please research many books debunking the extrovert introvert myth similar to animals personality changes with environment and comfortability. The same shy person in New York can be an extrovert in Los Angeles. Also personal experiences can craft a person's being extroverted or introverted. It's not a 100 percent set thing that can't change...complete myth..one that America and a lot of first world countries have latched onto in the name of faux tribalism.
For multiple reasons I keep referring to other sources to expound upon the fact that it gives me major ick people can't see how gross the origins of a Eurocentric world war two control device to dehumanize women SHOULD NOT be used as an accurate test of any kind and it's based off of a very immoral and inhuman type of thinking. I highly recommend reading this for appropriate cultural scope. I think it's better explained by these author's.
The craze to me was honestly a bit scary with how many people quickly latched onto these labels and identified themselves like, for so many reasons nooo! It's really ick to me for lots of reasons, yes it's fun but many people label idols like this. Rare types and common types, introverts and extroverts and it's like the idols begin to play more into the roles they were assigned.
Jongin being branded as an introvert(the offstage version of exo kai still a character btw) was to I believe sell a certain image to the fans. Introverts don't go out to clubs and party with girls and their friends, they stay quiet and text on bubble and act like they are texting their middle school clique. It always gives I don't know anybody here guys come get me. Yet that obviously can't happen but it creates that illusion and further deepens the bond.
At a certain point kji just stopped really saying much cause the bear bear image is what people cared about. I remember early on he explained how much he didn't like fanservice but he would try to get better. Basically I think he may have liked the book because of it having a caretaker in it and he likes that caretaker role. Most visible when he's with kids.
He as a person has that as a strong part of his character. I wish people would try to look at things a little deeper. If one does feel the need to get something or consume something just like their fave did at least maybe one form your own opinion and enjoy your own personal experience first and foremost but also understand why that other person likes that thing. People like men written by women more than the women who write them. Understand it takes a lot of positive influence from women to make a man like that. I.e the mother and other older female role models.
i love that everything upside down is turning upright everybody bullied victoria for no reason. now time is showing her moral character was never the problem if there is unbalance inside its always going to show outside. Suddenly all the people who was about mess.... crazy the most ethnic woman on victorious ain't never did nothing to nobody the whole world bullied. Hasn't aged a day, knows who she is and stands on business. Internet thuggery never ends well.
Conrad and Jeremiah
Conrad has rage issues but Jerimiah lowkey hates Conrad for leaving him to take care of their mother by himself. He also resents Conrad for being a spoiled brat and lowkey their mother's favorite despite being a jerk. Personally the only way to settle the beef they undoubtably have is to fight it out fair and square. Otherwise they will be in their 40s avoiding each other and fighting on facebook until they are 80.
2. Conrad's old gf Nicole and Belly
Personally Belly is kind of trash for how she constantly went back and forth with Conrad and Jerimiah, but she's more trash for basically being on standby for Conrad even when he had a gf. I didn't like that. Belly is young yes but it's not like she got more mature with age at all. So I think it's just a personality trait. So out of fairness her and Conrad's first gf should fight it out fair and square cause of the sneaky way Belly pursued Conrad on the low. I'll be honest I watched the show awhile ago and I don't really remember clearly what happened but even if Nicole was framed as the villain it's clear Belly is super immature and Conrad was no prize. I hate them using her like that as a conflict plotline.
3. Nicole and Conrad
Conrad wasted multiple female's time on this show including his mother. He's very selfish and rude. I get he was angsty by nature, but he was constantly playing games. Looking back that's the one thing I hated about this show and shows in general. You always have guys who have great girlfriend's who are nice and sweet and they just use them up and go onto the next one. So I believe they should also box.
4. Conrad and Jerimiah's mom and Belly's mom
They were so cute, but I still felt this weird air of classism and oddness about their friendship. Like I definitely sense some weird air that Susannah was able to override Laurel's opinion on parenting. Even though they only had a summer together every year. I think it was definitely enough to shape belly's opinion of how the world ran. She became attracted to the boys via the wealth and lifestyle she saw at the summer house. I get that there was some cracks in the facade of their friendship that wasn't able to be explored because of Belly's innocence and lack of knowledge about the world. Anyway I think if Susannah lived they definitely would of had a falling out if for no other reason than how the boys were affecting Belly. Susannah had two boys and just let them do whatever obvious by Conrad's behavior. She didn't understand how that could affect such a young girl like Belly. Susannah was kind of a bad parent and Laurel just had to shut up about it for obvious reasons. For that reason they should box fair and square in like the 1st season or earlier.
5. Taylor and Steven
They triggered each other so much and just fell in love. Very dumb. I think they should of boxed. They dang near did. But I think a nice beach fight would suffice. She would probably win but it's ok. Then they can fall in instalove.
This movie treats all its characters in such a way that it's impossible not to root for them. It's so refreshing to watch a movie that is so utterly female-centered. Bliss' ex-pageant queen mum in particular is a character that could've easily been portrayed in a one-dimensional light, but thanks to both the writing and Marcia Gay Harden's acting she ends up being very complex, someone you can alternately hate and pity and laugh at and love.
Some aspects of this movie are really quite clunky. Some sections felt like one-off comedy bits that broke the flow and could've easily been left out, things like Jimmy Fallon's character sleazing up on Eva Destruction.
It is weird how the movie has no problem with the age gap relationship and the fact that Bliss (the younger one in the relationship) never discloses her age to her nice douche older boyfriend. I was sitting there expecting it to come up and it felt bizarre that it didn't. Not even the best friend or the mum comments on the age gap. Which obviously, unfortunately, is a realistic thing to happen, but for a movie that is so intentionally female-focused it feels like a weird thing not to address.
That said, it was really fantastic and cathartic to see female characters pushing each other around, being ruthless and aggressive yet caring fiercely about each other and their sport. The food fight scene was a particular highlight.
It took me about half an hour into the movie to start getting into it. It is warm and charming, but you have to sit through some really cheesy, unconvincing moments, mostly in the first half. By the second half, though, the movie is in full swing, with Elliot Page and Marcia Gay Harden giving incredible, funny and moving performances as the rebellious roller derby-obsessed daughter and her traditional pageant-obsessed mum.
