oh fuckkkkk from medusa telling annabeth “i was you” last episode to annabeth facing life-endangering consequences for percy’s actions (which i completely support btw) just like medusa faced athena’s ire for poseidon’s actions but nothing goes the same way because percy takes accountability immediatly (“i was the one who sent her head to olympus”) and also saves annabeth by sacrificing his ownself and all of this happens in athena’s fucking TEMPLE.

Mmm the villain of the episode is an entitled white lady who called the cops on a bunch of kids, calls them monsters because of an aspect of themselves they can't change that makes them disruptive and dangerous, and hides behind a veneer of being a caring mother. And Annabeth is black. The social commentary is commentarying

jess mariano and rory gilmore are literally the SAME people at their core, just in opposite fonts. they MIRROR each other and are each other's TWIN FLAMES. that's exactly why they understand each other better than everyone else (asp herself said so). both are raised by teen moms and have deadbeat dads. yet, one is nurtured with love and care with a mom like lorelai. and the other is abandoned & ignored by a flaky mom like liz. both develop an immense love for reading regardless of whether it became kind of a coping mechanism. both exceed normal expectations of intelligence required for their age. hence, one goes above and beyond, strives for perfection with it, and craves validation while the other could not care less what people think and says "fuck it. rules don't matter anymore for me. i know stuff". one becomes stars hollow's princess, held onto a pedestal by everyone around her. the other becomes stars hollow's pariah, hated by every person he meets. both are under intense scrutiny by people where one is held to exceptionally high standards and the other is seen as "good for nothing". both of them break out of those respective moulds as soon as they become young adults. and both play a pivotal role in helping each other break out of those moulds and still be true to their inner selfs. rf kuang always has two characters who are like orbiting each other, twin planets, can’t live without each other can’t live with each other, she loves tragic death of complicated friendships. ramy and robin, rin and kitay, even june and athena. everyone dies. but what i like about her tragedies is there’s always a third. always another component, important and surviving. nezha and victoire. not a happy ending, but one that leaves you with an ache in your chest and a hope for the future, that the sacrifice and death did in the end have a point.
STOP making me think about rinezha. i can't do it anymore. enemies to enemies slow burn. enemies to begrudging allies to friends to *almost* lovers. then betrayal, and then they're just enemies who used to be in love. and they both *know* that they were in love, and maybe they are still in love, but they stand on opposite sides of a war because they've both made their decisions and cannot come back from them. there can never be reconciliation for the things they've done to each other, but god, they're still in love. i am literally eating drywall over them
the way victorie and robin and ramy all loose their birth languages has me in shambles. victorie never really spoke hatian creole, she moved to france at a very young age, and when she tried to bring it into babel, she was dismissed. ramy, who’s from kolkata, who’s bengali, only speaks bengali once in the book and his speech has become rudimentary because the british saw urdu and sanskrit and arabic as more valuable. robin has forgotten cantonese by the time he goes back home for the same reason. it’s utterly tragic it comes with a deep pain that’s hard to describe the pain of loosing your mother tongue.
