what i would like out of the "triangle" is frank to start internally pushing back on the matt/good me/bad dichotomy he's been clinging to these past 6 years. conscious of it or not he uses matt as a bumper between him and karen when he thinks karen is getting too close ("almost took the shot/may i ask why you didn't?/you never lie to me/does he?") or in the hospital she tells him she'll love him despite the corpses that keep piling up around him ("maria knew what i was and she loved me anyway.") and her overtures get shut down with a ("does that matt murdock know you're here?")
except 6 years later and just the sight of karen and matt in proximity together is stirring up his jealousy. i think he could rationalize it at first but the softer, loving side of frank that is dying at being shoved down and forced to live in a murder bunker is going to start reminding him of all the grace and acceptance karen has offered and maybe? hopefully? start to see himself from her perspective.
"We can't even entertain the idea of being together unless he comes back from the dark side, He has to pick: Is it going to be this vendetta, or is it going to be life? Presumably, maybe, life with me. And then when he says no, it's just doubly devastating.” — Deborah Ann Woll [x]
my favorite scene in LotR as a kid was when Sam started miserably freestyling in the tower of Cirith Ungol and the only reason he ever found Frodo was because he deliriously tried to join in
Yes.
years later and i still think about that tps2 scene with karen’s shoes. everyone’s freaking out but the guy in the morgue was just happily skipping around in those heels, and Frank—of course, of all people—just happens to notice while he’s in the middle of escaping with Madani.
in my head, after all that, frank finds out about the shoes from madani and either 1) goes on some mission to get the heels back from the guy, but is thoughtful enough to swap them out with another pair, or 2) just buys karen a new pair, way comfier and definitely expensive.
then he just casually sneaks them into her apartment with a note that says, “owed you a pair”
was that tape already playing when Frank broke into her car or was he nosy-looking through Karen’s music waiting for her

One of my favorite things about this season is the quiet moments between Frank and Karen. There are just some really beautiful scenes between them.
WOLL: One of our favorite moments is in one of the very first scenes, when she hugs him, out of the blue. I liked that because, in reading the first two episodes, you’ve been through so much and learned so much about all of the horrible things that have happened to him that by that moment, the audience wants to give him a hug. You want to reach out to him and be like, “It’s okay! You don’t have to kill!” I liked that, in that moment, I could speak for the audience. I could reach out and treat him like a human being, in a way that a lot of the rest of the world won’t. [x]
