🛠 Is there a scene or anything in the WIP you are struggling with right now?
I'm working on a Theloise Hunger Games AU (title: Born To Die) and the reaping scene (where tributes for the upcoming Games are chosen, in case you're not familiar) is kicking my ass right now lol. It's a very intense scene in both the movie and the book so I want to do it justice but it also makes me want to pull my hair out and scream into a pillow. 🤡
Anyway, here's a snippet!:
“Penelope Featherington!”
The name rang through the air, a death sentence.
It was her first day of school, and Eloise Bridgerton, four years old and stubborn as a rock, marched up to a short, redheaded girl with her nose in a book.
“I’m Eloise Bridgerton,” she announced, sticking her hand out for the other girl to shake. “And you are?”
“Penelope Featherington,” she replied, sounding surprised as she shook Eloise’s hand.
“We,” Eloise sat down next to Penelope, “are going to be the best of friends.”
I think Eloise as we see her needs to be with someone who cares about rights for women and causes as much as she does. The Eloise we see in the show would not be content with someone who merely tolerates her activism or is generally disinterested these causes, and only cares about them through her.
As well as that, this Eloise doesn’t belong in the country, safe and tucked away quietly in a manor house. She doesn’t belong in posh London society either. Where she belongs is the political meetings such as where she ran into Theo. Amongst people who challenge her and challenge the world. She would belong in intellectual salons and the bohemian world where Benedict has made a space for himself.
She belongs where the action is, where the crowds are gathering and are laying the foundations for a change in the world. That is where she belongs, and she belongs with someone who would stand beside her and match her as she marches, step by step.
🖍 and 🤔 !
🖍Post Any sentence from your wip
So, Eloise takes a deep breath and echoes a previous conversation, “You jump, I jump, remember?”
(Titanic fans, anyone? 👀)
🤔What’s a story you’d love to write but haven’t even started yet?
I recently read The Rose Code by Kate Quinn and I love the idea of writing Eloise and Theo as codebreakers during WWII! I'm currently working on a reincarnation AU, and in one of those lives Eloise and Theo are onboard the RMS Titanic, and in another life they're codebreakers at Bletchley Park.
Unfortunately, I'm only writing a small snapshot of each life, so I don't really get to delve into each story with this AU. That being said, my hope is to eventually write a longer fic loosely following the plot of The Rose Code!

i have.. thoughts😅 i can see how that can pose a problem for someone in your world😏 thoughts i would like to SHARE.. with you🙄 and are you not sharing them now❓ what i am failing to say is that often when i read something new or interesting or provoking it is YOU🫵🏻 who crosses my mind it is YOU🫵🏻 i would like to speak with about those thoughts🥺 i see😳 and so i am wondering🤔💭 if you might also have thoughts... of me🥴... when you think😐... i've read all of these ... and?🥹 and... i set them aside for you i thought perhaps you might share your thoughts on them🥰
A lot of people compare Eloise and Theo to Anthony and Siena or Colin and Marina: where one is simply a plot device for the other. While I have my own thoughts regarding this that I won't get into, I think a more apt comparison for Eloise and Theo is Francesca and John.
We see both relationships develop, and we see a real connection between these couples despite Eloise and Francesca ending up with different people in the books. Eloise and Theo feel like "kindred spirits" due to their shared interests, and so do Francesca and John.
Theo and John also share Eloise and Francesca's love language: politics and literature, in Eloise's case, music and peace, in Francesca's case. We see this when Theo sets aside books for Eloise and when John rewrites music for Francesca. Personally, I prefer these moments to some of the grand love confessions we see in the show (which I also love, don't get me wrong). Actions speak louder than words for a reason!
Both Theo and John can also offer Eloise and Francesca the life they want: Theo offers Eloise a life outside of high society, John offers Francesca a peaceful life.
