Summer Is Officially Over…but I’m Reminiscing The Warm, Lazy Days. Here Is A Scene With Young Lucius

Summer is officially over…but I’m reminiscing the warm, lazy days. Here is a scene with young Lucius Malfoy, Narcissa Black, and Severus Snape intermingling…enjoying the sun on the Hogwarts lawn. This is a commission for @thessakenway who asked me to illustrate her OT3 in a beautiful way.

Hello there! I see that you have been making some really cool original prompts here. I was wondering if you have some ideas for cool and fresh magical powers for a story? Thank you! P.S. How can you get like so many ideas all the time?? That's amazing!

Haha, thanks :p I think I’ve mentioned this before, but I really think it’s a lot easier to come up with random ideas when you’re not the one who has to write them. Sometimes when you get stuck in your writing you have all these components swirling in your head that have you have to connect it can be hard to get out of your head a little to think of wider ideas, but since I don’t know much about these projects it’s easier.

That being said, you can do this too! It might even help to play some music or a TV show that you don’t really need to pay attention to help get you out of your head and then just write out whatever idea comes to mind, even if it’s too ridiculous to use in the actual project it might inspire something you can use.

The power to temporarily darken the light in a given area, even outside.

being able to listen to listen to bones

the power to rot anything they touch (up to you if they can also restore things, if they can turn this power on and off or if it’s more of a curse, what kinds of things they can rot…)

being able to curse people with the thing that would devastate them most.

Being able to become the person that someone will trust the most

Being able to read/speak/understand any and every language that has ever been spoken

Being able to hear the past

“And you have fixed my Life – however short. You did not light me: I was always a mad comet; but you have fixed me. I spun round you a satellite for a month, but I shall swing out soon, a dark star in the orbit where you will blaze… Someday, I must tell how we sang, shouted, whistled and danced through the dark lanes through Colinton; and how we laughed till the meteors showered around us, and we felt calm under the winter stars. And some of us saw the pathway of the spirits for the first time. And seeing it so far above us, and feeling the good road so safe beneath us, we praised God with louder whistling; and knew we loved one another as no men love for long.”

— Letter from Wilfred Owen to Siegfried Sassoon, November 1917.

COCKS AND HOW TO DRAW THEM

This is my 3000th post, and rather than have it go by without a passing glance, I will instead use it to help YOU, MY LOVELY FOLLOWERS, by giving you references for and tutorials on how to draw a whole lotta dicks.

Asian rep tips + general info

Note: I am Korean and Filipina, and most in touch with my Korean culture. Also, race is a construct. For the post’s sake I’m talking about people who are from/live in the continent of Asia, though not all of those people identify as ‘Asian.’

This is also just some information about Asia and Asian people because some of you need to educate yourself :)

Also: it is not BIPOCs’ duty to teach white people how to represent respectfully. I’m just sick and tired of seeing Asian people written so poorly.

Asia isn’t just East Asia. Asia is a large, diverse continent with billions of people from different backgrounds, cultures, and nationalities. There are West Asian people (Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, and more), Central Asian people (Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and more), East Asian people (Mongolia, China, North & South Korea, Japan, and more), Southeast Asian people (Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Burma and more), South Asian people (India, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, and more). There is also North Asia, which is some parts of Russia like Siberia, but not everyone there identifies as Asian. The regions I listed above are geographical.

Not all Asians are light-skinned. There are dark-skinned Asians in every geographical region. Skin tones range from light to dark, with different undertones. Asian skin is very beautiful and diverse. (Not yellow undertones. No one is yellow unless they’re sick or something.)

Avoid stereotypes. You know: super booksmart East Asian and Indian people who are also street dumb and awkward, non-East Asian people being portrayed as the ‘stupid’ kind of Asian, ‘rice for five dollar,’ and anything like that. I’m not going to list them all here because you can easily look them up.

There are Indigenous Asian people. A lot of them don’t look ‘Asian’ (which is so stupid because it shows how race is judged by how people look and really not much else), and they are extremely under represented probably because a lot of them have dark skin and appearances that do not fit in with East Asian and Eurocentric beauty standards.

Do not sexualize Asian women/feminine presenting people. This is such a huge problem. It’s not even just women, it’s girls too! (I could go on about how this contributes to pe//phile culture, which is like r//pe culture but I do not want to trigger anyone so I’ll do that in a separate post.) Our appearances and cultures do not exist for your sexual fantasies. This is also a huge problem for East Asian men since the rise in popularity of KPOP and anime (largely via TikTok).

On the complete opposite side of the scale Asian people who do not have light-skin or Eurocentric features are seen as ugly and undesirable. I.E: dark-skinned Asians, people with big noses and bushy eyebrows, flatter noses, large cheekbones, and more. These people should be written more as beautiful and desirable because they are.

Do not base your characters on KPOP and anime stars. Just. Don’t. I shouldn’t have to explain why.

Mixed Asian people exist and shouldn’t be written as ‘exotic.’ White/Asian people, Black/Asian people, Indigenous (place)/Asian people, and Latine/Asian people do not exist for sexual fantasies or. We are real people. (And just as Asian!) Also, (non-Asian ethnicity)-passing Asians and racially ambiguous Asians are JUST AS Asian.

Just write us like normal people, please. Not super sexy, not ugly, not geniuses with no personality, just like normal people. Give us flaws and strengths like any well-rounded character.

Research Asian names. You do not want to be the next JK Rowling with a Cho Chang incident.

If you need an appearance/name reference look at geography/culture websites and National Geographic. If you just search up Asian people you will come across East Asian light-skinned people and KPOP stars. (If anyone has any other websites/media please let me know or add it on!)

We don’t eat everything with chopsticks. I only eat Asian food with chopsticks. (I live in America.)

Write alternative style Asians cautiously. BUT NOT PURPLE HAIR STREAK. DO NOT GIVE THEM AN ALTERNATIVE STYLE TO SHOW THAT THEY ARE SPECIAL!!!!

LGBT+, disabled, neurodivergent, fat, and other under-represented Asian people exist. Write them.

If you’re drawing/describing an Asian character and they have pale skin, silky dark hair, a button/pointed nose, and BLUE eyes think again. Yes, there are some Asian people who look like that (I mean not with blue eyes really unless it’s a genetic thing or they’re mixed), but most do not. My hair is very thick and corse, my nose is not pointed or a button nose, and my eyes are definitely not blue. Important note: Asian/white people can have some Eurocentric features as well as other Asian mixed people.

There are thousands of languages spoken by 4.3 billion people in Asia. I.E: people who live in India don’t speak ‘Indian.’ There are many languages spoken there such as Hindi, Konkani, Assamese, Bengali, and more. Important note: many Asian people who do not live in Asia are disconnected from their language(s) and other aspects of their culture. This is not exclusive to Asia. Keep that in mind when writing characters.

There are many religions practiced in Asia and many religions originated there. Commonly practiced religions in Asia include Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity, Taoism, Shinto, Sikhism, and many more as well as indigenous religions. It is important to research the religion you’re writing about! Also, religious customs in Asia can be practiced differently than whatever place you are from, so look into that. I cannot be much help with religious inquiries besides Catholicism as that is what I was raised, but I currently identify as an atheist.

If you are writing a female Asian character, note that female stereotypes are different for Asian women and white women. This is super important. Read into it.

There is definitely more that can be written, and other Asian people feel free to add on! Non-Asian people do not clown around and are you encouraged to rb. If you have any questions feel free to send some asks! And thank you to @pepto-bismol-veins for your help.

As I said, I am East and Southeast Asian and representation having to do with Asian characters outside of that I will not be able to answer well. I encourage non-Asian writers writing Asian people to look for sensitivity readers.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Asian people writing Asian characters that fall into an Asian stereotypes is different than when non-Asian people do it.

slytherin house dynamics under snape hc

this was inspired by this post by fuocogo that stated that slytherins probably know sign language because they need to communicate with the creatures living in the Black Lake and that tickled my imagination.

this will also focus on slytherin house specifically with snape as the head of house, because i like to think that after his own experiences he would have reformed a lot of what goes on inside, especially with him aligning to the light.

disclaimer: i haven’t reread the books in over a decade. i also don’t play any of the games so everything is really just based on how i remember the material i read, with some bits from the movies, as well as other hcs people have

snape does not tolerate bullying and any slytherin caught will answer to him personally. draco gets away with it a lot because i feel like it’s either he does it where the teachers don’t/can’t see, or snape also makes a judgement call on the ones he does see (like the ones in potions where draco taunts the gryffindors). he will definitely not have tolerated draco calling hermione mudblood though, not even if it’s lucius’ son

he keeps strict tabs on his little snakes - he interviews first years personally and at the start of the year assigns each one an older student to act as both a guide (like a mentor) and a guard. he does not encourage slytherins to walk alone, and each slytherin is assigned to and responsible for another.

he doesn’t openly encourage inter-house friendships but also doesn’t say no to them either. he turns a blind eye when he sees any of his snakes consorting with ravenclaws for homework help or hufflepuffs for trading sweets, but it does grate on his nerves a bit when he sees them interacting with gryffindors in a friendly manner. he doesn’t stop them however

slytherins do not lie to their head of house. the older students are quick to tell the first years that snape always knows when they lie and it’s just not worth it

snape advocates for his snakes’ continued and expanded learning - he’s well-informed of their background before they attend hogwarts and assigns them learning materials with homework as first years to fill in gaps that they may lack. this is especially useful to the half-bloods and muggleborns who may not have had any magical exposure prior to hogwarts (not unlike himself). as they grow older he also keeps an eye on their likely strengths in different fields and suggests to them possible materials for advanced learning

knowing that a lot of his snakes are from pureblood, bigoted families who would rat out any suspicious anti-dark lord dealings within the house, he encourages them to duel once or twice a month, but with very strict house rules: (1) he always has to be there; (2) hexes and curses only, no Unforgiveables; (3) to not tell the other houses that they are doing such and; (4) to not use any of the more harmful hexes on any of their fellow students or teachers. as a side effect, slytherins are actually quite good at DADA because snape also sneaks in a lesson or two and he knows it’s these students that will need them the most

they have a distress signal (maybe a small item?) that the students can use to contact their head of house directly if they’re in trouble. students have been known to trigger it even during the hols, and snape always assists in the best way he can

he never addresses problems nor gives praise in public. everything is discussed in his office and is always strictly confidential

his snakes are used to the rule that ‘whatever happens in hogwarts, stays in hogwarts’ so even if they see snape at any of their parents’ parties or meetings, they either ignore him or only acknowledge him subtly

he has a potions cabinet that’s for slytherin use only - these contain the basic first-aid potions and other solutions that the students may need and that he or they can use within the safety of the house, away from prying eyes

any student showing budding interest in the dark arts will be mentored by snape personally (he’ll give them a hell of a time to subtly discourage them from continuing)

slytherins are loyal to snape because they know they can trust him and are safe with him

discussions about the dark lord are not forbidden, in fact they’re encouraged, but only within the house. it gives snape a chance to gauge where his snakes stand and an opportunity to change their mind should they be in treacherous waters

he watches every game, every contest where a slytherin is represented and makes sure to sit in a spot where his student would see him

any internal issues are resolved by him mocking up a trial court that comprises the entire house. students are given a chance to plead, defend, allege, bargain, and stand as the jury. he stands as the judge
