THE MADLAD ACTUALLY DID IT!!!!!!!! @mageless WROTE A FUCKING FANFIC FOR THE TMA REVERSE TIME TRAVEL AU. I’VE READ IT LIKE 5 TIMES AND NOW YOU NEED TO TOO. RIGHT NOW.
here’s the link
@ponderingpebbles I know you haven’t finished tma yet so you shouldn’t read it, but I need to brag about it to you. I’m literally losing my mind.
also normally I would ask permission from @mageless , but in this case they can’t do anything to stop me from illustrating their story.
Hozier b like "hey girl what if the ceaseless battle between unconquerable suffering (as a consequence of existence), and the indomitable human spirit, was just. in ur earphones. What if the constant tug of war between the limitlessness of love and inevitability of heartache was literally injected into u via sound. Like. just playing in ur ears for an hour. Take my hand. Let's take a stroll through hell, baby :) wouldn't that be gre- why are you crying"
I'm only thinking this bc I just literally did this for my cats, but radioapple fic where Alastor is NOT a morning person.
Like even remotely. At all. (He stays up late for his radio broadcasts - you think he's out of bed before 10am unless he HAS to be? No.)
However. He's also the one who makes everyone their breakfast because he's the only competent chef at the hotel. (There's a reason before he showed up all Angel Dust ate was popsicles, Charlie is sweet but her attempts to cook could be considered lethal.)
So he drags his ass downstairs at like 6am to make everyone breakfast (and then utilizes his fire/shadows to keep the food warm for everyone to eat whenever they get up.) And then once he's done he goes back to bed for a few hours before eating his OWN breakfast. (A nice, tasteful raw venison, instead.)
But he absolutely doesn't bother getting even remotely dressed or even brushing his hair. Just big poofy and sleep mussed hair, rumpled pajamas, and he's yawning every few minutes. This man is half awake and is working on instinct at this point.
Lucifer had absolutely no idea about this until one day his insomnia gets the better of him, and he's also awake at 6am, and he hears someone in the kitchen, so he decides to explore.
And he doesn't even know how to react to soft fluffy Alastor calmly making everyone breakfast, seeing his cute little deer tail just casually out, his hair not even brushed, and wearing significantly less layers than normal.
(and if you really want to give him a heart attack, make Alastor not sleep in long full pajamas but instead just shorts and a slightly oversized t-shirt that hangs off one shoulder - make Lucifer come to terms with his long ass deer legs, his cute little hoofies, AND his collarbones. All at 6am.)
But to top it all off, Alastor is just too tired and half-asleep to even react to Lucifer showing up. All Alastor does is ask if he wants anything different for breakfast, coffee, or something. And Lucifer is too confused to do anything other than agree, and he's not sure how to handle the dude who, the day before, was at his throat calmly handing him a plate of breakfast and a coffee. What.
And then Alastor, in between yawns, is like I'm going back to bed. And just leaves.
"You're not eating any of this????!" - "Hah! No."
Lucifer is suspicious, so he discreetly follows Alastor back to his room, only to see him faceplant into his bed and fall back asleep. (That's kind of cute. Wait, what? No, it's not!)
(When he re-emerges at 11am, he's just as much of an asshole to Lucifer as he was the day before. 6am Alastor and 11am Alastor are two different people.)
Lucifer may decide to become a morning person just to keep seeing this version of Alastor. Who knows.
weird unprompted opinion but i think out of all the storytelling mediums.....theatre best portrays loneliness
ok satellites are all alone up there just searching for everything and anything and it’s so beautiful and I hope they aren’t lonely
Arthur more or less claiming Parker's death in 35 is great both because it speaks to his immeasurable guilt complex and that at this point Arthur and John are so intertwined that they have just kind of resigned themselves to mutually taking credit for each other's murders.
Hiya! I started listening to the Lost Terminal because you mentioned it on here. I'm a few seasons in and really loving it. My friend is looking for some new narrative pods and I know you listen to a bunch. Got any suggestions? They can be finished or ongoing.
Oh do I! Have a couple, in alphabetical order:
Absolutely No Adventures - An outright pratchettesque fantasy parody about a (very) Chosen One who has studied the art of baking instead heeding the call to adventure and refuses to go on any quests.
Care and Feeding of Werewolves - A (in-universe) podcast addressing current events and issues in the (American) paranormal community, hosted by a witch and medical practitioner. Has very good plot and worldbuilding.
Folxlore - Queer horror podcast set in Glasgow. Excellent show. "This apartment complex is very haunted, extremely cursed, and it sometimes randomly shifts to an eldritch nightmare realm. Everyone here's queer though, including the building itself. 4 stars out of 5."
Gabriela & The Inn Between - A recent botany undergrad takes a job as Innkeeper at an inn with very strange and unusual guests. Cozy and low-stakes.
Gastronaut - Set a couple hundred years from now, a food journalist travels from Earth, then Mars, then a distant space colony. He's pathetic but in a good way. Excellent food descriptions, nice anti-capitalistic and anti-colonialist themes. Higher stakes and fewer steaks than expected.
Ghost Wax - I've always disagreed with the idea that necromancers are always evil. This show agrees - it's a horror podcast about an ancient necromancer solving supernatural murders by interviewing the victims. Very thrilling. Many feels.
Icarus Rising - Queer airship pirates! Stow-aways! Rebellion! Chases and Thrills! High-stakes drama and action among the clouds! An adorable ship cat!
Kalila Stormfire's Economical Magick Services - Very cool story about witches, fairies, werewolves, and more, a story about what makes a community, about modern-day working class neighborhoods, psychology, love, and of course magic.
Parkdale Haunt - This one I haven't listened to yet, but I've heard very good things about it. It's a horror show about a haunted house, set in Toronto, made with love for that city. Disregard this suggestion if you don't like Toronto, I've never been.
SCP: Find Us Alive - A podcast set in the SCP universe, about a site getting sucked into some sort of pocket dimension that keeps resetting in a sort of time loop. Very interesting cast of characters. Requires minimal knowledge about how the SCP Foundation works.
Starfall - Fantasy audio drama about the adventures of a theatre troupe that uses magical items and illusions in their work, and about a young warrior with mysterious powers who joins them.
Tell No Tales - Horror story about a company that specialises in removing ghosts from haunted places. The protagonist quickly becomes concerned about the ethics of that and tries to prove that they need to start treating spirits with the humanity they deserve.
The Antique Shop - Urban Fantasy drama about a student getting a job at the kind of antiques shop that you only find when you need to. Lots of cursed items. An excellent cat. Queerplatonic relationships.
The Mistholme Museum of Mystery, Morbidity, and Mortality - An AI audio tour guide shows you various interesting exhibits and learns how to be a person. There's lots of feelings here.
The Strange Case of Starship Iris - Sci-Fi story set in the aftermath of a war between Earth and extraterrestrials. It's about outer space, survival, espionage, resistance, identity, friendship, found family, romance, and secrets. The intro song is excellent.
The Tower - A young woman climbs an ancient, unfathomably tall tower from a forgotten age. It stretches up into the sky, through the smog and the clouds. Very vibes.
The White Vault - Travel Is Not Advised. Very scary story about what's been hiding below the ice and the stone. What's been slumbering for ages. What's now beginning to wake anew.
I hope this selection helps! I have more, but I felt it would be better to keep the list short-ish.
please bring back 2014 indie pop (i could care less that a few of these songs were pre or post the 2014 era if the song fits it fits)

dont.....dont call me out like this!!!!!!
it’s so important for your health and well-being to get overly attached to a fictional man who is both deeply amoral and unbelievably, pathetically sad
Yes! ive never though about this much before but you’re absolutely right! theres no whay that someone as stubborn as ginny or hotheaded as ron would ever let that go overnight! please do continue this is so interesting!!!
What should Percy do if his whole family is against him?
Well not everyone but most of them are.
It's like a faceoff, a civil war really.
It all started after Fred's funeral. They were returning to the Burrow when Ginny asked.
"What about Percy?"
"What about him?"
"Are we just going to let him back?"
Percy knew all was not forgiven. He knew it. He expected this and he doesn't blame them.
"What do you mean?", Mum asked confused and shocked.
"It means he practically disowned us and now he's returning back, it doesn't make sense", Ginny argued.
"Now hold on-" Charlie started to say before being interrupted by Bill.
"I agree with her. He didn't even come to my wedding!"
"Your wedding ended with Deatheaters you buffoon", Charlie rebuffed.
Percy just wanted to disappear at this moment, he had nothing to say for his defense. It's a good thing George had gone inside the house already. Percy doesn't think he could handle this chaos.
"Arthur do something", Mum pleaded as Bill and Charlie blabbered on.
"Unfortunately Molly I agree with Bill and Charlie. He didn't even visit me when the snake almost killed me!"
Oh. The snake. But Percy was there. He did come to see his Dad. Dad was sleeping and Percy just stood there and then left because.. because he didn't know what to do or say.
"Arthur I am disappointed with you. Is now the best time?", Molly shrieked back at Arthur.
"Ginny's right. He even sent that horrid letter to me about how Harry is terrible. How could you Percy? And Umbridge, don't get me started on that cow", Ron argued.
Aah the letter. He's not proud of it. Not at all.
Fleur weasled herself in to the argument as well. She was trying to calm Bill down but he and Charlie were arguing and so is everyone else.
Weasley Civil War.
About him. Funny. He doesn't even want to defend himself from the accusations because they're right. And Fred is dead. Because of him.
"Can we fight later? George needs support right now not this argument about me."
And Percy strided as fast as he could to the Burrow without looking back so he doesn't have to face them.
I might do more on this. Got the inspiration from the fanfic Weasley Family Fallout
