These words haunt me still, and on the eve of my engagement -

I think of these words again after a conversation with my mother where she told me “my heart could not be trusted because I have a track record” and she recounted each past relationship I had and was told to remember why they failed.

How does one live like that? How does one live not trusting one’s heart? Is that not all we have?

To be human

To love

To lose

To love again.

It is to be human. I do not want to live afraid, I do not want to love holding back. I will not be blind, but I will listen to heart and I will be human.
