Lazard hits new 52 week high

Lazard Hits New 52 Week High

Shares of Lazard Ltd.  reached a new 52-week high, touching $41.66 at the second half of the trading session on Nov 18. However, the stock closed the session at $41.26, which reflects a solid year-to-date return of 34.7%.The trading volume for the session was 0.5 million shares. Despite the strong price appreciation, this Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) stock has plenty of upside left, given its strong estimate revisions over the last 30 days and expected long-term earnings growth of 12.0%. Growth Drivers Impressive third-quarter 2013 results comprising a positive earnings surprise of 31.64%, top-line growth, a strong capital position and higher assets under management (AUM) were the primary driving factors for Lazard. On Oct 24, Lazard reported third-quarter 2013 adjusted earnings of 46 cents per share, outpacing the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 35 cents. Moreover, this compared favorably with 26 cents earned in the prior-year quarter. On a year-over-year basis, Lazard experienced 10.0% rise in both revenues and AUM, which acted as positives for the quarter. AUM growth resulted from market appreciation and rise in net inflows. Additionally, the company’s capital ratios depict its strong position. However, a 4.3% increase in expenses was the headwind for the quarter. Further, Lazard has delivered positive earnings surprises in 3 out of the last 4 quarters with an average beat of 35.95%. Estimate Revisions Show Potency Over the last 30 days, 3 out of 7 estimates for 2013 have been revised upward, lifting the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 4.7% to $1.77 per share. For 2014, 4 out of 7 estimates moved north, helping the Zacks Consensus Estimate advance 6.1% to $2.44 per share.

Giant ‘Siats’ Dinosaur Discovered, Second Only To The T.rex

Giant ‘Siats’ dinosaur discovered, second only to the T.rex

Utah is making a name for itself as the place to unearth dinosaurs. Earlier this year a big-nosed dinosaur was discovered in the state, and just recently a relative of the Tyrannosaurus rex was also unearthed. Today, yet another dinosaur has been discovered: Siats meekerorum. While its name might sound tame, Siats refers to the man-eating monster from the mythology of the Ute Native American people. Siats “was a colossal predator second only to the great T. rex,” explains Lindsay Zanno, director of Paleontology at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences.

This past Sunday, the Denver Broncos beat the New England Patriots to win the AFC title. The Seattle Seahawks defeated the San Francisco 49ers to capture the NFC title. Now the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks will face each other in the Super Bowl on February 2nd, 2014. Both football teams will help to bring in tons of revenue dollars for the economy and their respective cities. This coming Super Bowl is expected to be the most highly watched Super Bowl game ever. It features one of the best offensive teams in the NFL going against one of the best defensive teams in recent history. It has been estimated that a 30-second television commercial will go for about $4 million during this year’s Super Bowl.   At the start of 2014, two states began selling marijuana legally, Colorado and Washington. Since the two football teams that will be playing in the Super Bowl are coming from these two states it is safe to say that marijuana stores will likely do very well on Super Bowl Sunday. We can only expect marijuana sales to be up leading into such a major sporting event. After all, alcohol sales always increase during the week of the Super Bowl, so we should expect the same type of reaction from marijuana sales. Here are three marijuana related stocks that could benefit from the upcoming Super Bowl game. Please note, all of these companies mentioned below trade on the OTC-BB so they are equities that carry much higher risk. These stocks have also had big gains since the new year began. Traders and investors must make sure that they understand the risks involved before trading these stocks.   1. Cannabis Sativa  (OTC-BB: CBDS) 2. Medbox Inc (OTC-BB: MDBX) 3. Terra Tech Corp (OTC-BB: TRTC) Nicholas Santiago InTheMoneyStocks.com

Airlines are adopting ‘winglets’ at the end of wings and tails, in an effort to increase flight — and ultimately fuel —efficiencies. Winglets can cut fuel use by as much as 5%.

Airlines have also experimented with other weight reduction practices, like lighter paper in in-flight magazines, and replacing flight manuals with tablets.

Next we’ll see ticketing passengers by weight, since 1/3 of the cost of a flight is fuel.
