Me, at the store: Buying a dog collar
The person at the register: Haha you have a big dog, huh?
Me: They're for me.
The person:
Me: The dog collars are for me.
The person:
Me: I'm the big dog.

I wanna see more cultural punk outfits. I wanna see more punks adding their culture to their outfit. I think it would be a neat concept. Embracing your culture and who you are and saying that no one can take that away from you. Fuck racism and fuck anyone who thinks they can take away your culture. Put spikes on your hijab. Wear a black leather jacket with patches of African patterns on it. Punkify that Kilt. Embrace your culture and don’t let anyone take that away from you. Be punk and embrace who you are because you’re amazing.

I was trying REALLY hard to avoid dealing with the same situation I get put in almost EVERY year, where my prescriptions all run out right before the holidays and I get to spend 2-3 months completely unmedicated until my doctors finally have appointment slots in late February to mid March. I'm working things out with my clinic rn now when it comes to my antidepressants, but my HRT is another story.
I was supposed to have three more refills left on my testosterone, but those refills expired without me realizing, and because I missed a lab appointment earlier this month (because I was too broke to pay for it), they won't give me anymore until I come in for an appointment. I've managed to snag one for the 4th, but it's going to cost around $250, which I really really don't have right now.
I was already gearing up to swallow my dignity and make a begging post for different reasons. because with the way our bills have lined up for November, we're dangerously close to being short on rent (and paying it late as it is) and have absolutely NOTHING to put towards groceries except the $20 I currently have in my wallet.
I hate having to rely on the mercy of strangers, but dear god, I'm terrified of being hungry and under/unmedicated for another month (or longer). I can't keep doing this.

As someone who lives in a heavily right leaning area, THIS!!!
By my left toenail, I'm far too scared to even put some band patches on cuz they are in Arabic and like....half my state is scared of different languages 😭
PUNK PSA:
Please don’t put anything too political on your back patches— especially about your own marginalized experiences.
This has been a long standing rule in punk communities, passed down for generations. People do get jumped and experience violence as a result of this. You can’t see who is behind you, you can’t tell if they’re far right, and you can’t prepare yourself for sudden violence from behind.
So many people are new to the scene, introduced via social media, and don’t know the weight of walking with something on your back (literally and metaphorically) that immediately outs you as marginalized. If you’re able to defend yourself, or out with friends who can watch your back, by all means go for it and wear whatever you want on your back patches but if you walk alone at all ever, please be safe.
Also this is why punks wear spikes and studs on our shoulders especially. Makes it harder for someone to grab you and works as self defense (but also never wear spikes at a small show or if you plan to mosh— people can get hurt!).
