Chrome Extensions I Actually Use As A Mentally Ill University Student

Chrome extensions I actually use as a mentally ill university student

Making websites easier to digest:

Dark Reader - Changes any webpage to dark mode.

Mercury Reader - Simplifies the layout of any webpage to eliminate distractions and irritating formatting.

Podcastle AI - Turns any article into a podcast. This is a lifesaver for being able to process what I’m reading, to be honest.

Spelling/grammar:

LanguageTool - Spelling and grammar check for those of us who regularly type in more than one language.

Grammarly - Spelling and grammar check for those of us who only type in English. Can be used with LanguageTool installed, which is what I do.

Google Dictionary - Define any word on the webpage with a double-click.

Google Translate - Translate an entire webpage or even just a short segment.

Misc:

AdGuard Adblocker - After trying quite a few adblocker options, this is the one I find the best.

The Great Suspender - Automatically suspend inactive tabs to help with performance.

Honey - Try coupon codes automatically to save money on online purchases.

Built-in Chrome tab grouping - Group your tabs to keep organized and minimize distracting clutter.

“I Love You Without Knowing How, Or When, Or From Where. I Love You Simply, Without Problems Or Pride:

“I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you simply, without problems or pride: I love you in this way because I do not know any other way of loving but this, in which there is no I or you, so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand, so intimate that when I fall asleep your eyes close.”

Pablo Neruda, 100 Love Sonnets

Okay so when I got sucked into the phantom zone last week while watching youtube shorts a lot of the content it fed me was ADHD tips and a lot of it was either useless for me or redundant but there was one REALLY good tip about taking breaks that wasn't about taking breaks it was about RETURNING from breaks and the tip is: when you are about to go on a break, before you step away from your task (work, craft project, school stuff) decide what you'll do as the first thing when you sit back down at your task and set up your workspace to do that thing.

That means you've got an easy re-entry point to go back to doing the thing instead of sitting back down and having to make a decision or having to reorient from break mode to task mode. You have pre-reoriented and can just go back into working mode.

I've been doing this by circling what my next task on my tasklist is and bringing up the windows that I'll need for the task before I step away from my desk.

Brilliant hack, works great for me, hope it works great for you as well.

dark academia tea guide

to relax after a long study session or before bed time: fruit tea, chamomile tea. Get yourself some honey if you like.

when you want to feel healthy: Any kind of herbal tea, matcha, nettle tea, green tea.

to get a boost of energy: green tea, black tea, white tea or any other variation that contains caffeine. Make sure you  make them right or they´ll get bitter.

on a cold winter day: Chai, ginger tea, rooibos tea. Use spices, especially cinnamon.

during summer: barley tea, iced fruit tea, hibiscus tea. Don´t worry about hot tea in summer, it´s actually even better for your body than drinking ice cold drinks.

Get yourself the most visually pleasing cup you can find and go for it. If you like you can sweeten your tea with sugar or honey or add some milk. For green tea never use boiling water (60-80 degree celsius should be fine) and take the teabag out after two or three minutes maximum or it´ll end up being bitter. Figure out what you like best and what works best for your kind of green tea. The quality affects if it gets bitter easily or not.

Before the computing era, ILM was the master of oil matte painting, making audiences believe that some of the sets in the original Star Wars and Indiana Jones trilogy were real when they weren’t. They were the work of geniuses like Chris Evans, Michael Pangrazio, Frank Ordaz, Harrison Ellenshaw and Ralph McQuarrie ! Forever thank you, to their handmade art and the work of their colleagues, that made us dream of impossible worlds and fantastic places across Earth and the Universe.
