God Doesn’t Call The Equipped… He Equips The Called!

God doesn’t call the equipped… He equips the called!

So when he gives you that dream, that vision, that goal, and you think it’s too big to achieve… just smile! 😁

Smile so big knowing that he has already equipped you for this!

Your blessings will come from your obedience!

Stop doubting yourself - you got some important work to do, and God has your back! He is right there with you!

Two New Exhibitions—“Storytelling In Bali: Paintings From The Bateson-Mead Collection” And “Monsoon:

Two new exhibitions—“Storytelling in Bali: Paintings from the Bateson-Mead Collection” and “Monsoon: Indian Paintings of the Rainy Season”—open this Saturday, April 1, in the Ahmanson Building’s South and Southeast Asian galleries. Many of the stories in “Storytelling in Bali” are drawn from epic narratives of Hindu and Buddhist mythology that were transmitted from India in the early Common Era, and subsequently translated into local legends. “Monsoon” explores India’s rainy season and how the rains have long been celebrated in various mythologies, rituals, communal observances, and poetic expressions. Check out both shows this weekend at LACMA! It’s Flashback Friday! Here Is A Photo From My Physical Archival Project- Party Crew, Together We Stand

It’s Flashback Friday! Here is a photo from my physical archival project- Party crew, Together We Stand at a house party somewhere in San Gabriel Valley in 1993. I am extremely grateful to be in a position where people can trust me with their material and stories. This photo along with a thick photo album and other artifacts was donated by my friend Eileen Torres. Eileen was from a party crew called ‘Just Us Girls’ and 'Together We Stand’, two very empowering party crew names. The party scene and backyard gatherings have existed for over decades, and the youth has always found ways to create unique spaces for various reasons- whether it is a survival mechanism, a break from the norm or way of expression, it’s very important to honor that history. Shoutout goes out to the originators of the party scene and everyone who has paved the way for the new/next generation.—Guadalupe Rosales (of @veteranas_and_rucas And @map_pointz) #LACMAInstaResidency http://ift.tt/2vl3IIA

Who Gets To Dictate What Kind Of Art Belongs In A Museum? When The Sculpture, ‘Back Seat Dodge '38’

Who gets to dictate what kind of art belongs in a museum? When the sculpture, ‘Back Seat Dodge '38’ by artist Edward Kienholz was exhibited in 1966 at LACMA, The County Board of Supervisors tried to ban the sculpture which portrays a couple engaged in sexual activity in the back seat of the automobile. They threatened to shut down the exhibition but the museum reached a compromise- the sculpture’s car door would remain closed and guarded. The door would only be opened to visitors over 18 years old. The attention the sculpture received had hundreds of people lined up to see it person. Anyhow, Back Seat Dodge '38 is on display at LACMA. Make sure to check out when you come visit.—Guadalupe Rosales (of @veteranas_and_rucas And @map_pointz) #LACMAInstaResidency © Kienholz http://ift.tt/2tV1vUU

Karina (on the left) and her friend pose for a photo at a Lowrider car show in Santa Ana CA in 1995. This photo is a perfect example of what a typical Lowrider car show looks like. The cars are beautifully displayed and sometimes, they are decorated with mirrors on the ground and taken apart so the public can look at all the details- the rims, paint job, engravings etc. —Guadalupe Rosales (of @veteranas_and_rucas And @map_pointz) #LACMAInstaResidency
