Hisoka: The Villain Who Surpasses Expectations

I recall going on a tangent about Hisoka's magical abilities before Togashi revealed nen to the audience, and I went on a bit of a rant about how he had me in a choke hold back when I was ten years old, and I'd like to continue that rant.

Hisoka: The Villain Who Surpasses Expectations

Hisoka is that villain who can never be outdone when it comes to creativity.

The first thing that got me was his appearance. I remember seeing him in the opening, where he wears an outfit that he's never seen wearing in any of the episodes (not important, but eh). I remember thinking that he looked like a Jester, mainly because of Harley Quinn. Hisoka never really struck me as a clown, and I remember getting triggered every time a fanfic referred to him as a clown.

I was used to villains who wanted to take over the world for whatever reason, or sympathetic ones who had a rough background or were doing evil things for someone they loved. Or villains who were evil because their job required it, like assassins and hit men. And then there were villains like Joker, who are evil just because. Hisoka was none of that. We are not given any motive for why he's the way he is until much later. When I was ten the pedo stuff flew over my head, and I was still pretty new to sex education. I thought to myself "Pretty weird that fighting is like sex for you, but whatever tickles your fancy." And it's not even in an "Ah, finally a worthy opponent" kind of way.

I remember being so entranced by him because he was so unusual. As a ten year old I interpreted things differently. In the clearing (during the 1st exam) I don't think he would've attacked anyone, but he was provoked into doing so. Kurapika and Leorio run off, so he calms down for a moment, but saw that Leorio wanted the smoke, so he delivered. When he was strangling Gon and stopped, I legit believed he thought to himself "Woah, I was about to kill a kid." I believed he had limits. (Later on with the Alluka thing I see that's not the case)

Hisoka is pure evil, but he isn't some Michael Myers. He has personality and doesn't kill everyone he comes across. When he warned Illumi I thought he was being protective of Gon, but expressed it the only way he was capable of. I was hoping for a future friendship between him and Gon, or at least Hisoka being a somewhat mentor figure of some kind.

There's also Heaven's Arena. He told Gon and Killua to go back downstairs. Instead of seeing it like "Get stronger first so that I can have more fun." I saw it as "It's dangerous for you here, don't come back until you're ready."

I remember seeing the spider tattoo in the bathroom scene, and I was surprised for a moment. Even with the him vs Chrollo situation, if you take that out of the equation, what's in it for him to be a part of the Phantom Troupe? I remember thinking "He's in a gang?" Hisoka didn't fit with the troupe, and I was curious as to how he met them, and why they accepted him. Hisoka didn't/doesn't seem to be the thief type. Once more, he didn't get along with most of the troupe, and they even seemed to avoid him despite being quite close knit. I figured that maybe Hisoka had a similar upbringing to them, which could be why they accepted him, but then there's Kalluto. Kalluto, whose father fought the troupe, and grew up in a beautiful (yet abusive) environment. Kalluto seems well off in comparison, and Illumi comes off as put together despite what he went through. So with the Phantom Troupe it's not about sympathy or trauma bonding. And no, I don't think Kikyo coming from Meteor city has anything to do with it. The only spider Hisoka arguably gets along with is Machi, but she merely tolerates him.

Hisoka worked better in a group setting with Gon and Killua, even though he is an open enemy to them. They were willingly welcome towards him, with Gon even offering him to accompany them. Even though Hisoka gave him the creeps by staring at their arse, Gon still seems to enjoy Hisoka's company (Somewhat???).

There's also that Dodge Ball scene.

Hisoka did that just because that wasn't how Gon wanted to win. He didn't need to do that, but he did. That's pretty damn interesting, and dare I say it, heroic and honourable. There is the potential that Hisoka started getting a soft spot for Gon.

Speaking of the Dodge Ball game, it was interesting seeing Hisoka suffer for once. It felt very out of character, especially since he always comes out on top. But this time the opponent was incredibly stronger, and less familiar. But of course, Hisoka is quick thinking, with one last trick up his sleeve.

When Illumi informs Hisoka about the Chimera ants fiasco and Gon being on his deathbed, Hisoka genuinely appears shocked and a bit fearful. The kind where you hear about something bad happening to a close friend. "What? (Insert name here) has (insert life threatening disease)?". He even put his life on the line to alert Killua of him and Illumi's whereabouts.

Hisoka is a villain that isn't just entertaining, he goes against the expectations of what a villain is presented to be, especially against shonen expectations. He doesn't have a tragic backstory, nor does he need one. While he isn't the main villain, he is very impact-ful to the story, and not just for the main character. Sometimes he can be a hero, despite having his own self-serving agenda behind it.

Hisoka: The Abilities outside Nen

Here's a rant from someone who's been a HxH fan since they were 10 (I'm 20 now)

Hisoka: The Abilities Outside Nen

Hisoka is one of my favourite characters if not my favourite villains next to Illumi. He immediately had my attention when I first saw him. I really saw him as a force of nature, and I loved how unpredictable he was. There would be moments where he came off as a psychotic killer, but also times where he seemed pretty chill. I could never quite figure out what was going through his mind.

These days I think the fandom, which is now filled with Gen Z-ers, have kind of turned him into a bit of a joke (not in a bad way), but I still remember him as the man who held a lot of mystery behind him.

Now there's just one thing I always wondered about him, and that was his abilities. We already know about Bungee Gum, and the fact that it has the properties of both rubber and gum, but I'm talking about before Togashi introduced nen to us.

We know that Hisoka is a magician, but are the abilities the result of bungee gum, or was he truly trained in some kind of trick? Does he have abilities outside of nen? One example I will use is the Zoldyck family. They are super humans, and have abilities outside of nen, like Killua's long nails and being immune to poison. Then there's the Freecss family. Even without nen, Gon was still a pretty damn strong kid, he broke Illumi's arm for crying out loud (I don't think that's spoken about enough). So we the viewers know that there's a handful of superhuman families, so it wouldn't be any surprise if Hisoka himself came from one.

We could say that it's just the 2011 version being creative, but the 1999 version has fun as well. In fact, I'll compare the two.

2011: When we are first introduced to him he burns off a guy's arm for bumping into him. His arms have turned into tiny petals. When Hisoka and Gon officially meet, he disappears into dust every time Gon tries to hit him. Usually, Nen users would blur when they move very fast. Hisoka has a bloodlust moment, and one butterfly becomes hundreds. When he takes the tag from Gon (after he punched him) he makes 4 copies of the tags.

1999: The guy seems to have melted into a wall instead of his arms being burned. Then there's his fight with the knife guy (ep 15, 1999), nothing too special, but it's what happens afterwards. In the 2011 version Hisoka still has the injury on his shoulder, but in the 1999 version he does a trick to make it disappear/heal instantly (most likely an illusion). The butterfly thing doesn't happen.

Not to mention Hisoka's bloodlust. Much like Illumi's, it gives a sense of unease to anyone who is of close proximity to it. Even going as far as to disturb nature. Hisoka is superhuman, even without the use of nen. Unfortunately, we don't see more of his 'magic' in the anime.

Daniel was never the 'Real' villain

I posted this on a YouTube comment section, but here.

Bro, Ali did not want to talk to Johnny, and Johnny was pushing it. He was being hella aggressive about it, Daniel was just returning his energy. The worst Daniel did was spray some water on Johnny, AFTER Johnny and the other Cobra kids shoved Daniel down a hill on his scooter, just because Daniel wanted to learn self defence after he realised he's attending school with the same people who humiliated him and beat him up. Guess what, they humiliated him again at the football tryouts thing, and Daniel wasn't even doing anything to them. As the movie goes on it becomes less about Ali, and more about Daniel, because it's clear the Cobra's enjoy bothering Daniel. I know Daniel isn't perfect, sometimes antagonising them, but only verbal and nothing too excessive, like pushing them down a hill in the middle of the night.I personally think Cobra Kai is an out of character take on the Karate Kid series. They made Johnny an idiot, even though we know from the first Karate Kid film that he's pretty intelligent. Miyagi was also a father figure to Daniel, but they over did it in Cobra Kai. Kreese and Terry Silver are the real villains, two grown adults who couldn't get over a Karate tournament.

They legit gave Daniel trust issues with the Terry thing. Also, didn't Terry break into the Miyagi house?

Kira and Sonya: Headcanon

Kira And Sonya: Headcanon

WARNING: I'M GONNA GO ON A LONG RANT

The somewhat forgotten character of Mortal Kombat. Kira is a product of her time, the Midway era. Love or hate her, there was potential. Kira is evidently a blend of Sonya and Kano, yet there is zero explanation for why. So, it's time to make a giant headcanon.

Kira and Sonya were trained by the same master, if we're going with the Midway era of everyone knowing Kung Fu or some other Asian Martial Art. Like any old teacher with morals, she sprouted about the good stuff and being fair. Kira was like a YN, she didn't care about all that. She's not learning martial arts to protect or defend, but to harm (growing up with bad people probably influenced this, creating a similarity with Skarlet) for her own self gain. Once this became more evident, especially with her bad attitude, and rebellious nature that reeks of fatherless behaviour. Sonya recognises this, and tells off Kira for having that mentality. In her mind she's looking out for Kira, but Kira takes it as a personal insult, and starts to believe Sonya looks down on "people like her".

On one fateful training match, Kira is pitted against Sonya. Kira's only ambition was to win, and to deliver a pain to Sonya that made her wish she never opened her mouth. That's not what happens, though. Sonya lays her flat on her ass, and Kira's ego is crushed. Every time she sees Sonya she starts to feel hate instead of just annoyance and frustration.

We find a revelation of why Kira was attending Kung Fu lessons in the first place. She wants to become an underground fighter, or already is an underground fighter making ends meet. She decides to forget the whole "fight fair" thing and bring a weapon with her, which may or may not be against the rules. She wins, of course. The only thing that Kira could remember is how great it felt to succeed, no matter how dirty the method was. This is where Kabal recruits her, seeing a power and cruelty he is eager to raise like his own (Kabal's a dad now).

Kira becomes obsessed, vowing to one day prove Sonya wrong. As much as she hates Sonya, she seeks something from her. Approval? Respect? It's something she doesn't focus too much on, otherwise she'd have to confront herself.

She joins the black dragon under Kabal's guidance, and Kano even teaches her a few things. Unlike Sonya, she doesn't value relations nor does she grow attached to anyone.

She's pretending loyalty to the black dragon, but as soon as Kano gets close to Sonya, Kira will not hesitate to take the opportunity for herself.

Sonya and Kira are much like Kitana and Mileena. One is original, and a highly respected person, with the other one being a cracked reflection. There is Chaos and Order, but Kira is the resistance against Order. Born from Order, but influenced by the love of Chaos.

It's pretty simple. Order, Chaos and Resistance, with resistance being a toss and turn of both, choosing one element to serve the other: Like using Chaos to bring Order, or using Order to bring Chaos.

Jax (Order), Kano (Chaos), Johnny (Resistance against Chaos)

Sub-Zero (Order), Sektor (Chaos) Frost (Resistance against Order)

Sonya (Order), Kabal (Chaos), Kira (Resistance against Order)

The sad part is, Sonya doesn't think of Kira once, while Sonya lives rent free in Kira's mind.

The Black Husbands: Headcanons

The Black Husbands: Headcanons

Rodolphus really didn't want to marry any of his cousins. It wasn't that they were unattractive, it was just that he was determined to find a wife himself. It wasn't against family values to force persuade someone into marriage, but no one was stupid enough to marry their daughters off to the Lestranges, knowing how they treated their women.

He liked to believe he knew what he was getting into when he saw Bellatrix wink at him that day. He liked to believe he was satisfied on their wedding day. He was certain to be content when she got her mark. They were kindred spirits.

They were on the same page, but Bellatrix was a Black through and through. Rodolphus hated to admit it, but Bellatrix outdid him in cruelty. Put him to shame.

He didn't think it was possible, but she became worse. She had been decently fine before, but after Azkaban not so much.

He had no clue what it was, but she was more insane. Not once seeing the curse that the mark ended up being. They could've done it by themselves, with no Dark Lord. No one to boss them around. No mark to expose them and ruin their lives.

They were both stuck, but Bellatrix thrived in being stuck.

The Black Husbands: Headcanons

Don't let this innocent, sweet face fool you. Ted knew a tad too much about danger and the like. No matter how well he dressed, Andromeda knew a rough boy when she saw one. She could relate to terrible parents, he could relate to pretending.

The countryside was a safe haven for them both. Perhaps a city would've been better, to avoid too many questions, with everyone around them being too busy with themselves to spare them a single glace, but the countryside was quiet. Besides, the location was one that would allow them easy access to all their magical needs.

Their daughter, would want more. Expressive as her clothes. Ted embraced whatever danger was ahead, even if he desperately wanted to run from it.

The Black Husbands: Headcanons

By far the biggest peacock- The biggest conniving, cold, cat-like man she's ever met.

He was perfect.

She and Lucius were very alike, in both how they presented themselves and their beliefs of course.

The only difference was that Narcissa wasn't supposed to be heard. She was raised to be someone's wife, and she made sure to be a great one. Lucius was so full of himself that he wouldn't be able to pick out his own ideas from her's.

This marriage wasn't out of the ambition of being married, but to outdo everyone in her family. Narcissa was determined to be the best. Lucius was determined to have the perfect family.

Draco wasn't the kind to be disowned. Narcissa wasn't the kind to go insane. Narcissa wasn't the kind to make a terrible spectacle of herself. Lucius knew his wife was cunning, those Slytherin traits of theirs went hand in hand. But then again, there was more mystery to her, he felt like. Perhaps it was a Black family trait, to not expose too much of yourself.

Bellatrix, Andromeda, Narcissa headcanons

Bellatrix, Andromeda, Narcissa Headcanons

Bellatrix has always been a little not alright, but never anything too severe. Most would say she was a bully, but so was Sirius based on whatever stories she heard about him in passing.

Bellatrix didn't get along well with Sirius, but she hoped he would clean himself up soon. He would deny it, but they were very much alike. He could be rehabilitated.

However, that started to change once Andromeda was burnt off. All for that muggle. Bellatrix hoped it was worth it, for Andros' sake. Sirius was burnt off in a blink, and Bella could do nothing but focus on herself.

Then Regulus died. This time it was different. Regulus was her dearest, and most precious baby cousin. Gone just like that.

If Bellatrix didn't get to have her loved ones, then neither did mudbloods. That included anyone that supported them.

Bellatrix, Andromeda, Narcissa Headcanons

Andromeda couldn't stand crazies. If she stayed in this family any longer she would become it.

The constant comparisons. The high expectations. The fake smiles, and high alertness.

She hated it. She could never trust anyone, knowing they were after something. If one couldn't go to Bella, they'd go to Andro. She was the backup plan, and always the backup. 2nd in command. Should anything happen to Bellatrix, Andromeda knew what to do.

Backhanded compliments. Gossiping behind her back. The hateful obsession with muggles. Mudbloods have never done anything to her, so there was no need to hunt them.

Ted wasn't just any old Hufflepuff. If that had truly been the case, she would've married a bloody Macmillan. Ted's kindness was influenced by his survival mode.

His kindness was always genuine, but his eyes were watchful, patient of any slight of hand. A peaceful life would be nice. So nice. She really could just disappear.

Bellatrix, Andromeda, Narcissa Headcanons

Narcissa absolutely had to be seen. She wanted to shine bright too. Unfortunately, she was her mother's daughter. Birthed for her mother to dote on, while Bellatrix and Andromeda were raised to be the perfect heiress'. Narcissa couldn't be the same, but she would show everyone that she was perfect. She would prove it. And prove it she did. She chose her husband wisely, and she played her cards correctly.

Narcissa Black is a clueless blonde? So be it. She would teach others to never underestimate her. Whether it was the personality she presented, or what was on her mind, it shall never be questioned again.

Although it was cruel, she took pride in it. While she missed her sisters dearly, it was great knowing she was the one who survived. Narcissa knew it was stupid to get the mark, and she knew the toxicity given to her was a sign of jealousy. She completed what both of them couldn't do. She handled what both of them couldn't handle.

Any influence she spread was through her husband. Her dearest lover and tool.

This time when family or anyone of importance saw her, there was hope. Admiration. She was seen and not heard, just the way that she liked it.

Hear Me Out

The rebellious old money mother, and her alternative daughter.

Nymphadora inherited a lot of her mother's personality, despite the house thing. Both of them went against the system and fell in love with men that society looked down upon.

I genuinely think these actresses look related.

Is it already a theory that Zhao is Azulon's bastard child? Because this goes nicely with the theory that Lo and Li are Azulon's concubines. It would also explain why Zhao is so weirdly competitive with Zuko. Zhao also doesn't seem to respect Ozai much, either, come to think of it. He takes weird joy in the thought of humiliating Zuko and how it reflects badly on Ozai ("your father raised a coward.") There's an interesting backstory there.

What's also interesting is that Zhao says this about Zuko's inability to finish him off, which is what Ozai would want him to do, but Zuko is following his own instincts, the ones that got him banished by Ozai.

Cole Young should've been Kai

I know, I know, this is just an excuse to project how much I wanna see more black characters as main characters.

I'm pretty sure the hate for Mortal Kombat 2021 has died down to some degree, as it's been a good 3 years since the movie came out, and no ones talking about it anymore. Nonetheless, I wanted to give my take on Cole Young. I heard that the reason they made Cole Young is because they wanted to pander to the audience, and how they didn't want a white main character to be the every man that introduces the audience to Mortal Kombat... So they came up with Cole Young.

Cole Young Should've Been Kai

If that was the case, then Kai was right there. I mean, they did bring out characters from the Midway era, so they could've brought Kai. Let me explain myself here. Kai has fire powers as well, but he doesn't even have to be a descendant of Hanzo. They could've pulled a Miles Morales, but he doesn't have to be painted as the next Scorpion or some other crap. Kai in canon is a student/mentee of Liu Kang's, and is a member of the White Lotus. What does Cole do? He trains with Liu Kang and Kung Lao. Just like Cole, Kai can be an orphan as well.

Of course, you can't trust them to write the script. I can't be trusted either, but here's my take on what could've been:

Kai is a college kid doing underground fighting to make ends meet or a side hustle. The ring is run by the Black Dragon, who are keeping some tabs on him due to how much money he's been making, so they set up Kobra to be his next contender. The start of the film shows him defeating Kobra, before heading home to count his money to make sure he has enough for rent. His bedroom has a set design that clues the audience in on what his interests are. There are Martial Arts posters, he has a collection of weapons (hints to poor spending habits), and there's a picture of him and his baseball team from high school. There's a metal baseball bat laying somewhere, implying that he still occasionally likes to play.

He later goes on to China Town, and purchases a random spear from some guy, not knowing that it used to belong to Hanzo Hasashi aka Scorpion. To his credit, the seller tells Kai that the spear is cursed and is said to drive people who use it insane, with all of them claiming to see images of Hell fire, and nightmares of a sceptre, that's why it's selling for such a low price. Kai tells him that he doesn't need to worry about marketing, and that he just wants the spear. (He's also a big fan of watching youtubers explore "haunted" abandoned buildings and ouija board stuff, so it's a win for him)

Kai gets on to his daily life, not knowing that he's being stalked by Kobra. He accidentally sets a few things on fire, quickly figuring out that he has new powers. He doesn't know how to control them, and tries to stay away from flammable objects. (I think Kai's fire should be a certain colour to differentiate him from Liu Kang and Scorpion. Either pink, blue or green. Pink just because, blue to imply that it's super hot, and green to reference the Chaosrealm as a hint to Kai's ancestry, made up on my part)

Kobra breaks into Kai's home and demands a rematch, and Kai uses the baseball bat to help defend himself. He accidentally kills Kobra after shooting a fireball at him, and his home catches fire. He doesn't know how to stop the fire, and in his panic, he grabs as many valuables as he can before leaving the scene. The spear, a family photo, some money.

He tells the police that Kobra was some random home invader who knocked him out, but Kai woke up in time to find the place on fire, and Kobra was still present and unfortunately burned to death. Stryker investigates, and suspects there's more to the story, sensing something off about Kai. At the same time, he can't help but feel bad for Kai, and offers his spare bedroom so long as Kai pays rent. (Cue Stryker accidentally becoming a father to a college kid)

In natural reporter fashion, the incident is broadcast to the world, alerting his whereabouts to Sub Zero, and other Outworld champions. Raiden appears and warns Kai of danger, and asks Kai to come with him. Stryker intervenes (because some random lightning guy appeared in his house), telling Kai to run while he keeps Raiden at bay. Kai runs off to hide at a nearby store or something, and that's when Sub Zero appears to kill him. Kai does pretty well to hold him off, but his flames are flaring up when he doesn't want them to. Raiden saves him, and once he's able to shoo Sub Zero away he explains everything to Kai.

Kai's family used to compete in the tournament, and after they died under mysterious circumstances, he's been stuck living by himself. (He never told anyone in fear of social services, but he's been alone since 17. Maybe they went on holiday and never came back, idk) It's one of the reasons he's making ends meet in underground fighting. Those white markings on his skin? Family heirloom type stuff. Kai's parents were one of the many who were slain by Sub Zero over the years. Coming into contact with a supernatural object activated Kai's abilities.

Kai agrees to go with Raiden to China, and trains with the White Lotus, where he is introduced to Liu Kang. Kai wants to know how to use his spear, but Liu Kang hands him a club. (I personally hate clubs, because the weapon looks so unclean and tacky. But in the game, Kai uses a spiked club, so I can't retcon anything.) Here, he becomes Liu Kang's student. Although he's good at using the club, he is still determined to use the spear, and practises by himself. He accidentally summons some fire, but it's not his fire, it's hell fire.

Edit: Kai finds out some other things about himself, like how his family were shamans of some kind, leading him to investigate how to summon entities. He starts to experience the effects of the spear, and tries to communicate with Scorpion, and find hints through his visions. The next time Kai gets into a fight, he is not himself, and his eyes shine a golden blaze.

He does find a way to summon Scorpion and bring him to the mortal world.

Johnny Cage and Kuai Liang Friendship

I'm gonna quickly bring up the past and appreciate the fact that NRS made Johnny and Kuai Liang have a maybe friendship with each other.

Even though Kuai is hostile towards Johnny, he still entertains him a bit. Compare that to his intros with Sonya where he eludes to intending on killing her.

In mkx he gives the kombat kids a test, specifically requested by Johnny. The fact that he not only has contact with Johnny, but agreed to it says a lot in my opinion. Of course, the kombat kids don't know this, but there's something Cassie says that caught my attention.

"My father always spoke highly of you, Sub-Zero. He wants to talk." - Cassie

"Talking. Always his first choice." - Kuai Liang

How close were Johnny and Kuai Liang before mk1? Besides being mentoring the kids and making sure they become great warriors, (edit) what else? Edit: There had to be more to it. Cassie says Johnny always spoke highly, which means whenever Johnny was telling Cassie about the events that came before, Johnny only had good things to say about Kuai Liang. Kuai in return, not so nice things, but in comparison to what everyone else has to say about Johnny, it was pretty tame. It just raises the question: How often did they talk? I theorise that Kuai could see himself in Johnny to some extent. Johnny remained to serve Earthrealm and is incredibly loyal to Earthrealm (especially Raiden), but was also all too happy to train his own daughter and many others (no shade). Kuai can relate with starting fresh and leading a new generation. Jax left the military, but Johnny stayed even though there was nothing in it for him to.

Kuai had Frost as his student, and I like to think they both have a strained father-daughter relationship. While Johnny doesn't have a strained relationship with his daughter, you can see that Cassie is some kind of identity crisis, having Johnny and Sonya's traits and having to deal with constant comparisons from anyone that knows them. In other words, they've both experienced parent-hood, with the child being reflections of the parent. Frost broke the mirror, but Cassie keeps it intact.

Also, both of them joined the tournament for selfish reasons. Johnny for his career, Kuai to avenge his brother. You could argue that it's the same for Sonya and Jax, but they were actively working for the military, while Kuai went against the Lin Kuei.

Now I'll show one of his mkx intros:

"Do you not recognise me?" - Kuai Liang

"How'd you get un-cyberised?" - Johnny

"The one benefit of Quan Chi's process." - Kuai Liang

Here's what I find funny. Why would he need to question Johnny about this, considering they've barely had an interaction in the mk9 storymode. (The rest of the intros are comically bad, so I won't transcribe them)

All of the intros Johnny has with Kaui Liang in mk11 are pretty chill.

Now compare those with this one.

"A good general is hard to find." - Kuai Liang

"What's that supposed to mean?" - Sonya

"Your soldiers are going to miss you." - Kuai Liang

What he mean by that?

"There's only one leader here." - Sonya

"Then prove yourself worthy." - Kuai Liang

"I proved that a long time ago." - Sonya

Kuai Liang (supposedly) respects Sonya more than he respects Johnny, and yet he says things like this to her??? Shows the potential closeness Kuai Liang had with Johnny in the old timeline. Kuai Linag and Hanzo friendship is great, but we were robbed of the idea of Johnny and Kuai Liang.

My take on Cyrax's gender change

I'm convinced that they only swapped Cyrax's gender to make the disposable black girl trope, or at least some variation of it. Kuai Liang was willing to kill her, with the only thing stalling him being the fact that he was seething. You'd think with their history together he'd be a little bit hesitant, but no. He was staring her down, probably contemplating if he should even bother making it quick as he grabbed the handle of his sword. He didn't sound hurt, he sounded and looked so pissed.

I'm pretty sure he was going to kill her right then and there if it weren't for Harumi.

Even though everyone knows Bi Han and Sektor lied to her, a lot of the characters still question her about her loyalties. She's regarded as untrustworthy, and while that's understandable, I feel like it's not their place to question her.

Clark Kent is Insane (Smallville)

I'm on the Smallville bandwagon, and I'm currently on season 7. I've seen some posts that find it unbelievable that people weren't interested in and crazy in love with Clark and stuff. I'm convinced that people stayed away from him because they thought he was crazy, or was that guy that always had something weird happening to him. It's obvious that Clark is attractive, but there's also another side to it besides his looks.

Clark Kent Is Insane (Smallville)

Clark would find himself in situations that would make people scratch their heads. Put yourselves in the perspective of the Smallville citizens.

I'm going to give some examples from season 1 (can't remember which episode)

Clark's powers get transferred to another boy named Eric Summers, and once Eric finds out about these abilities he exploits them. Clark tries to talk Eric into not being a bad person, and that ends with Clark getting smashed into the top of a car, bleeding from his nose and all. A lot of his school mates saw that, and word apparently travels fast in small towns. Everyone certainly found out.

In another episode, Earl Jenkins (played by Tony Todd) is a victim of the Luthors, and while Clark's class is on a school trip, the character holds the students hostage in order to threaten the Luthors. Whatever experiments Luthor corp did on him makes him shake violently, and anything he comes into contact with will shake uncontrollably as well (can't remember if it results in death). It's best to stay away from this guy. What does Clark do? Try's to speak to the guy and convince him not to do this, and stuff like that. Basically, the same thing he did with Eric Summers. It doesn't get him heavily injured, but it could've made things worse.

Clark would also go through a thing where his personality flips. Not knowing he's on red kryptonite, everyone probably felt like they were interacting with a completely different person, but with Clark's face. Everyone's just like "Clark Kent is letting his intrusive thoughts win?" And he would mysteriously forget what's transpired (due to switching bodies or his mind being taken over). He would be genuinely confused, and is frighteningly proceeding as if nothing's happened, despite being aware that something wrong has taken place, thanks to him or involving him.

When Clark accidentally causes his mum's miscarriage, the first thing he does is crashout. He puts on the red kryptonite and rides of to Metropolis. I'm pretty sure he was gone for months, robbing from atms and getting into fights with people.

When Nathan Dean (the banshee guy) showed up (around season 3-ish), Clark lost his sight temporarily... even though it's everyone's ears that suffered. That's weird.

Onwards, Clark would suspiciously be at the scene of a crime or some kind of incident. He's always involved in police business, and playing "investigator" with Chloe and Pete. Always on his way to save people, and do something that everyone will immediately think is stupid.

Around season 3 or 4, Clark marries Alicia. A literal stalker who tried to harm Lana Lang (the it girl of Smallville). Once he comes back from his honeymoon, looking all guilty, everyone whispers while side eyeing him. And of all things Mr and Mrs Kent are mad about, it's the fact that Clark married illegally (both Alicia and him were underage), and that he disregarded how sacred marriage is (even though he was on red kryptonite). That was terrible writing, but I don't remember them being too angry about Alicia.

Clark Kent Is Insane (Smallville)

There's also that time (can't remember if it was season 5 or 6) when Clark and Lois crash Lex and Lana's dinner party where they're celebrating their engagement. Clark and Lois are dressed as bikers, informal leather jacket outfits. They must've looked insane to everyone at that party, Lex especially. And then Clark proceeded to ruin the pregnancy announcement for Lex and Lana (he did it for the lolz).

Every time Clark is doing (or about to do) something everyone is probably side eyeing him, and thinking "What's he about to do this time?"

What's worse is that his parents don't seem to be doing anything about it. They don't appear to be worried about the fact that he might potentially be having occasional psychotic breaks, and other mental disorders going on with him. He's got main character syndrome, and a hero complex. Insert other mental disorders and illnesses of your choosing, because I'm not a psychiatrist nor am I trained in knowing about mental health.

If the writers intended on this, knowing that they couldn't make Tom Welling look like a pathetic dork, then it's a good call. Can't make him dweebish? Make him look insane. Even if Clark was a nerd, and looked like one, everyone would still be fawning over him (me especially). But fawning over a crazy person is risky because of how unpredictable they are. Not only that, but we've seen girls fawn over him before, albeit harbouring bad intent (to some degree for most). And of course, Chloe was super interested in him, and Lana would get jealous and shocked from whatever relationship he had outside of her, even when she was with another guy.

That's my Smallville theory.

Here are some random comments I found on YouTube and TikTok. Apply them to the correct characters. The last one is a cooking tutorial. I can imagine them having a conversation. The last one screams Kombat kids though.

Shujinko is an agent of chaos rant

More crap I keep coming with. These are things I wrote in a Youtube comment section btw, I just expanded on it a bit more to post here. I recommend checking out Cynical Warlock, he's got some great videos on Mortal Kombat.

Shujinko Is An Agent Of Chaos Rant

I wish we were given a story mode that not only reintroduces Shujinko, but also the kahoots he got himself involved with outside Onaga. Like lying to Hotaru about King Zeffeero, and spreading chaos in Seido for Havik in exchange for coins (it’s a tiny side quest in konquest mode where the player bumps into Havik in seido). Have Shujinko be a righteous man who has no clue he might be insane, if you count randomly punching civilians and thievery to be a part of the story arc. He’s an agent of chaos that is unaware of his chaotic side, and Seidans can smell it on him, so a lot of them stay clear of him. It could explain why he turned on Liu Kang and the others in Kung Lao’s ending. There’s a quiet evil lingering, but it doesn’t want to take things over, it just desires to cause trouble.

I hope Shujinko plays a part in the Titan Havik story, because in my opinion it'll just feel wrong if he's not there since he's the reason we know of Choasrealm, same with Hotaru. There needs to be Hotaru, he's the order to Havik's chaos, and Shujinko is the child caught between those divorced parents.

I'd like to believe that Shujinko is also a mirror to Shang Tsung in a way. He (unknowingly) does bad things in the name of good, but Shang Tsung is (cartoonishly) open about his wickedness. Both of them have the ability to copy others, and were promised some form of grandeur, only to be double crossed by the very entity that brought them up. It seems with the mk1 timeline that their stories were swapped. In the old timeline Shang Tsung was a champion for Earthrealm who decided to switch to the dark side and learn soul magic, only to betray both his masters once the opportunity came. In mk1 timeline Shujinko supposedly comes from nothing, and once he becomes powerful he has to be subdued with his memories and powers taken away. He even has the same hairstyle as Shang Tsung, they must be mirrors of some kind.

I also headcanon that Mokap is descended from Chaosrealm. He's some random motion capture guy, but seems okay with the bloodshed that's going on. In Deception's Konquest mode you'll catch him strutting around with a big smile on his face. If you punch him he won't do anything about it, he gets back up and starts strutting again like nothing happened.

Jewish Johnny Cage, please

I once saw a fanart of Johnny Cage and Cassie celebrating Hanukkah (I think) together (Sonya was there too). I can't remember if it was Hanukkah specifically, but it was a Jewish related celebration. Now I can't unsee Johnny Cage as Jewish, and desperately headcanon him as such.

Any thoughts?

Victor and Graydon Creed

Victor And Graydon Creed
Victor And Graydon Creed

I have a broken sense of humour, so forgive me. But the fact that VICTOR CREED not only fathered a non-mutant child, but also that same non-mutant child became a politician, suit and all. Sabretooth, a man where the word 'Barbarian' comes to mind, fathered a political figure. Granted, Graydon is as much a monster as Mr Creed senior, but the vision is everything.

Can you imagine the shenanigans?

Graydon being forced to go back on his words about his anti mutant propaganda, and talk about how they're not so bad because a list of nice things they done for him in order to avoid getting a spanking.

Graydon opening up about his mutant background, and how his anti mutant propaganda came from hating himself and his mommy issues, and how he learned that doesn't mean other mutants are the same, and using that to advocate for mutant acceptance.

Graydon getting some kind of promotion, and a party being hosted to celebrate it. Then Sabretooth crashes it, gets drunk and starts embarrassing Graydon in front of all his co-workers and fellow politicians. Saying stuff like "Just to think all those decades ago you was in my balls!"

His co-workers recognising that Graydon's cat-like habits come from Sabretooth. Standoffish with people he's just met. Hissing or growling when annoyed. Disturbing people, but not liking when others bother him. Having no concern for other people's belongings. His co-workers noticing how he avoids people when he's stressed, just like a cat.

Getting asked awkward questions at interviews like "Do laser pointers bother you?" and "Do you eat lots of fish?". Graydon trying his best to stay professional and not lose his cool.

Graydon being forced to stand next to Sabretooth, and everyone pointing out how small he looks in comparison despite being very tall, because Victor is HUGE.

Graydon being forced to acknowledge his other siblings from Mystique's side, and coming to the realisation that Logan is his uncle.

Graydon trying to force Victor and Logan to form a momentary truce just so they can take a good picture for the front page of a news paper (for mutant positivity reasons). Many fights ensue, and it takes over 60 attempts until a picture is taken where Victor is holding up a struggling Logan with a grin prepared to throw him, and the headline being "Sabretooth excited to reunite with little brother" or something.

Graydon meeting with Professor X to discuss the needs of mutants, and bumping into his cousin Laura, who hasn't forgiven him for his anti mutant days.

Professor X helping him with his inner trauma, and unpacking the trauma Mystique put him through, and the shame he felt knowing his parents were bad people, and being normal as the only thing he can cling to in efforts to avoid believing he's like them. How Graydon wants a family deep down, and actively hunted mutants to get attention from one or both his parents. How Graydon always wanted acceptance, and being abandoned caused a dilemma within him that lasted decades.

Graydon being forced to spend his holiday in Canada, and staying indoors at a cabin while Victor gathers firewood because he can't handle the snow.

Being forced to embrace his Canadian heritage.

The boys giving a little show to the camera. Jeff doing a little dance. Much to see. Kind of looks like the beginning of an old porn tape.

I am in absolute shock that I found the dojo video. Here is the famous tit grab clip we’ve all been searching for
