Do y’all think siblings in medieval times would look at the little beasts in illuminated manuscripts and point at each other like ‘ha! ‘Tis thou!’
Yo I feel like the idea that the only historical women who counted are the ones who defied society and took on the traditionally male roles is… not actually that feminist. It IS important that women throughout history were warriors and strategists and politicians and businesswomen, but so many of us were “lowly” weavers and bakers and wives and mothers and I feel like dismissing THOSE roles dismisses so many of our mothers and grandmothers and great-grandmothers and the shit they did to support our civilization with so little thanks or recognition.

no but really why does mike get blamed for every little thing it's not funny anymore. why is he inherently more culpable than the rest of them. why is he the one they always expect to know everything. why does he usually actually know everything or have the key to figuring it out. why is he personally responsible for any given disagreement even when 3+ people are involved and all acting out of line not just him. why is he the heart why is he the bad guy why why why
i wanna share this tiktok with you guys that scratches my brain in the best way possible
modern asoiaf aus are interesting to me bc seeing how they reckon with cersei and jaime’s whole…. thing….. is like a delightful little window into authorial intent and the story they want to write like. ive seen some people who go full hog with it – jaime and cersei have a long term sexual relationship with incest babies and all – and some people dodge it entirely – their sibling relationship is normal, or they’re not siblings at all. I think its kind of a betrayal of the source material though to pretend NOTHING is wrong there, bc like its so essential to both of their characters that they have a weird thing going on with each other that is actively affecting their lives in a major way. I can understand not wanting to write incest but imo the characters dont make sense without SOMETHING. when i wrote that bit i just posted i was trying to figure out where in the middle i wanted to fall, and i landed on a weird unconsumated too-close-for-comfort sibling relationship, which i think is a good middle ground. saw these tags on a fanfic that were like “no incest bc jaime and cersei’s relationship is fucked up enough without it” which i also think is a graceful way to handle the issue
Another strange scene I have in my head
Hellfire ending same time as basketball practice. Jason being a little dick. Tommy is there too since he is the freshmen's/sophmore jocks ride. Anyways, Jason is being a bitch, trying to be the new King™. Steve is fed up with his bs and is like "You do know you'll never be as good as I was...and still am" or smth like that. Jason is like "you wanna go" Steve is like "I'll fucking destroy you" he does! Tommy sing-songs "King's back~" Eddie is like "wtf do you mean?" And one of the older jocks explains "part of the reason we called him king was because we were terrified of him" meanwhile, Jason is getting his ass kicked hysterically in the background. The younger party is wide eyed hearing their stories of times Steve has been kind of frightening. The scene ends with Nancy being like "GUYS! JASON IS BLEEDING ON THE FLOOR CAN SOMEBODY GET HELP!" The scene ends and it cuts to Steve in the back of a cop car with sirens in the background (other than that, complete silence) it's filmed from the rear view mirror and you can see hoppers eye and and Eddie's hair in the shot as well.
That's all I got really.
Reasons I like subtitles:
1. I can see how people’s names and the cities and the countries are spelled.
2. I don’t miss any words, so everything they say makes sense.
3. I get to know what background noises and conversations are.
4. The descriptions of the noises people make are freaking awesome. Ex: splutter, grunt, chuckles.
5. I can see who says what.
6. I don’t have to have the volume super loud so I can hear the dialogue, and I don’t blow my eardrums out because the ambient noises and music is SO FREAKING LOUD.
I freaking love subtitles.
When I say that some ATLA fans treat Iroh like the literal christian god, I'm not exaggerating. They literally act like there can be no redemption if it isn't found in him, and granted by him. Not liking Iroh means that someone must be incapable of redemption, and if Iroh doesn't approve of them that must mean that they are inherently evil. Also, someone can only be redeemed if they Follow Iroh's Ways and do everything he says.
Baby Will at some point: I love my brother
Baby Mike after a minute and tugging on his shirt: Can we share, I like him he’s nice
Baby Will, reaching for a dandelion and making a ring: Sure! Here put this on mommy says that’s how that works and now Jonathan can be your brother too
Jonathan looking up from his homework, he’d been doing it in the grass while watching them play. He’s now crying straight out: W h a t ?
