Happy Valentine’s Day from The Onceler!! or.. the pinkler?? anyways. Sorry that this is kind of late- I wanted to finish this yesterday but I unfortunately didn’t have time :’) I also didn’t have any time to shade it but it’s okay v-v the hands were really hard to draw in case you were curious.

I always hated Nadakhan with all of my heart as a kid, even if some of the things he did kinda went over my head, I always thought he was weird and creepy. he is different from the other villains, and his actions 100% show that he’s a CREEP. (COUGHS the scene where he goes to kiss Nya.. the literal teenager.. so lucky that scene cut off) I’m obviously not a parent so idk if I should rlly have a say on if it was a good idea to tackle this in a “kids show” or not. But hey, at least they depicted him and his actions as evil and disgusting (because they are).

Rewatching Skybound a few weeks back had me absolutely BAFFLED and SHOCKED at how much I truly missed as a kid about Nadakhan and his vile actions. It’s a VERY different experience watching Skybound and being mature and aware of things like that, especially as someone who has had some experiences with manipulation and grooming… Nadakhan shows all the signs- there’s no doubt in my mind that any scene portraying things he did (or possible things he could’ve done) were on purpose to represent that. I mean.. how come Cole found Jay in NADAKHAN’S room when he was rescued..? Why wasn’t Jay in his cell..??? (I got an icky feeling when I rewatched that scene.)

I genuinely think Skybound as a whole just has an underlying theme of pedophilia, grooming, manipulation, and sa. Yes sa too. Anyone want to remember the scene where Zane got pinned down by Mechanic and had his shirt unbuttoned?? Yeah, cause that was ALSO in Skybound. there’s a video on YouTube that points out many times where Nadakhan acted like that and shows the scenes of evidence to this. Im sure you’ve watched it already, but i’ll put it here anyway:

jay bites a lot as a sign of affection will just be sitting there near cole or kai or zane and then bite their shoulder or whatever and zane is used to it and doesn’t mind but cole and kai are like OW. every time

zane bites jay back because ‘it’s showing that the affection is reciprocated.’ cole and kai bite jay back because ‘IT HURTS, JAY,’ and they want to get jay back

morro avoids getting bitten after the first time because he has a Jay Sensor that allows him to get a gut feeling whenever jay is going to bite and move out of the way (jay vows that he’ll find a way to catch morro off guard and inflict a bite upon him One Day)

Thunderbolts is better than the OG avengers and I think there’s a couple reasons for that. I know I’m stoking the fires with that one, but as an enormous fan of Avengers 2012 I always wanted something more from them.

Avengers 2012 was a true ensemble movie but its leaders, Steve and Tony, were defined by their conflict. Their differing personalities. The formation of the team was the point and their instability as individuals second to that. They had to get over each other to work together.

Thunderbolts isn’t really an ensemble movie. There’s an ensemble in it, but it’s about Yelena and her struggles with her mental health- her search for a solution to her depression and grief and trauma. So instead of getting over the differences of her teammates, it’s about wanting them around- learning to find the good and accept the bad. To prop one another up and find connection.

There’s also something distinctly un-masculine about Thunderbolts. I say un-masculine because it’s just not Joss Whedon’s Avengers. It’s not gendered in that way. It’s not about how sexy Black widow is when she kills a man, or the dick measuring contest between Steve and Tony- their dysfunctions and savior complexes.

The avengers are built on sacrifice- how much are you willing to sacrifice to keep humanity safe? The thunderbolts are once again built on that connection but they’re also built on their guilt and desire to be better people, not only for their loved ones but for themselves.

They also defer to Yelena. John does the “I’m the most experienced guy of course I’m the leader” bit and then almost immediately defers to Yelena later in that sequence even if he’s reluctant at first. The plan only works if you wait for me. You can see later in that scene when Bob is shot, John waits for Yelena’s call on whether to leave or do something about Bob in that moment. There are obviously times where they don’t defer to her, this is a group of people still getting to know and trust one another. They work together instead of despite each other.

They come to see her as someone to follow because they see her empathy, her ability to wait and watch and assess, and also her insane plans! Like calls to like but they see a team leader in her without her vying for it.

Idk I just love this movie. I have low hopes marvel will be able to strike lightning twice but I really hope they can. I’ve missed it.

hiii I am here to point out/analyze (??) a scene from Skybound that I haven’t seen anyone mention before.. (if this has already been talked about I would like to see the post about it ^-^) also, apologies in advance if tumblr kills the quality of my pics..

this screenshot. I’m sure you’ve seen it before, I’m sure you recognize the episode/scene it comes from (s6 episode 6: "My Dinner With Nadakhan"). but have you ever noticed the way Nadakhan is touching Jay?! did you ever notice that he’s grabbing Jay’s waist..?

the fact that Nadakhan (after seizing Jay’s wrist) went for Jay’s WAIST next is concerning to me. it was such an immediate reaction, no hesitation whatsoever. he just grabbed him. Nadakhan always vandalizes ANY CHARACTER’S personal space, but this grab felt so violent. and the way that Jay has almost no reaction to it..? that’s also deeply concerning..

now I know you might be asking- "is that even Jay’s waist?". I know, I know. it LOOKS like his hand is pretty high, but remember that Jay is also sitting down. I have more pictures to prove that this is, in fact, Jay’s waist.

and the thing that makes this whole scene even more terrifying is THIS:

the way that Nadakhan smiles when Jay finally gives up is sickening.. and again, it’s so sad that Jay just.. accepts it. and Nadakhan caressing Jay’s hair.. which we’ve seen him do MORE THAN ONCE- not to mention the one time Nadakhan pulls Jay by his hair to lift his face off the ground.

(I couldn’t find a picture of the exact scene, but this is another time Nadakhan is being weird with his fucking hook hand…! ew..!)

most of the time jay being mischaracterized is because people for some reason use the 11 minute era as like the complete basis of his entire character… i'm so glad DR exists because otherwise the last thing we'd get of his character with crystallized would be jay giving a peace speech, THAT fucking ramen song and a pee joke because he literally does nothing else in what would have been the final season of the original show
