types of healthy coping skills

1. self-soothing

comforting yourself through the 5 senses

Touch: stuffed animals, stress balls, taking a bath, a soft blanket

Hear: music, audio book, guided relaxation

See: snow globe, glitter, calming images, art, anything that pleases you visually 

Taste: tea, mints, gum

Smell: lotion, candles, incense 

2. distraction

removing your focus from the stressor for a period of time

puzzles, art, crafting, reading, movies, gaming, exercise, being social

3. opposite action

doing the opposite of the impulse that aligns with a positive emotion

affirmations, inspiration, lighthearted and encouraging focus

4. emotional awareness

identifying and constructively expressing what you’re feeling

journaling, listing emotions, using a emotional identification chart, drawing, therapy

5. mindfulness

centering and anchoring yourself to the present moment

meditation, guided relaxation, yoga, breathing exercises, candle gazing, going for a walk

6. ask for help

this is important to do when you feel like your coping skills are not enough or they are too negative and detrimental  

therapy is ideal for helping a person create a healthy coping strategy and incorporate it into their life 

*a coping skill is considered healthy if it helps you to deal with stress more positively, does not hinder your progress, and isn’t harmful physically or mentally. A coping skill can become negative when it is used to completely avoid dealing with the stressor.

The Song of Achilles

Thinking of Patrochilles when listening a love/sad/romantic song and then feeling too much than you already feel about them.

Mood.

There's an ache in me which spreads like a wildfire when I think about Patrochilles.

Two days after reading The Song of Achilles, I'm at the stage where I search their tag in every social media and go through it for hours and hours and suffer in its bitter-sweet story.

The Song of Achilles is a fantastic book. AchillesxPatroclus's love story is heart-touching and legendary. I'm glad that I've read this book, even though it's heart-wrenching to read some parts.I thank Madeline Miller for writing this piece of story from Greek history/myth. Her writing is amazing. The way she weave words and describe the emotions and the beauty of everything is just wonderful. PATROCHILLES ARE GOING TO BE IN MY HEART FOREVER. ❤

So excited for Wayward son, I'm not sure whether to pre-order it and read it first or order it lately and read it days after its release

Because when you read it first,you'll have to wait for years for next book.

You would miss SnowBaz after finishing the book I don't want this to happen.

I don't want to miss my babies 😢

Spoiler-free short Book Review of The Burning Maze

Just finished reading this wonderful book.

From beginning to the ending, it was amazing

The plot is fast paced.

This book, just like any other Rick Riordan's books, is so much entertaining. (Like 60% of the time,you'll laugh.)

And the plot the settings/theme of the scene was mind-blowing

Brilliantly written. I love Rick Riordan even more now.

It's always fun to meet new characters who are quite unique.

And the villain Roman emperor, is totally a Weirdo and just as much cruel.

I liked how RR told the current problems that are being faced in the world ,through this book. Atleast now everyone should stop cutting/burning trees. And Love Nature!

And the other 40% of the time, you'll cry. I still can't believe why RR did that!

The ending was great. It was impossible to put my book down. (to wipe tears )

Excited for the next book.

So,if you still haven't read it, you should definitely read it. It's worth it.

I rate it 5/5. (Ah yes, I'm still sad and crying)
