James: tied them around his ankle. He also wore Velcro shoes because he thought they were more fun. (He also had rollerblades and Mary taught him to skate)
Sirius: didnât tie them. Ever. Like a fucking psychopath. He would make a show of not doing it whenever someone told him he should tie them. He also had light up shoes and heelys. (Imagine almost getting decked in the hallways because some dumbass didnât know how heelys work.)
Remus: tied them normally. Heâs not about to lose the circulation to his foot or eat shit because he couldnât tie his shoes properly. Theyâre just shoes to him (but he also definitely wrote book quotes or song lyrics on the sides)
Peter: tied them with a bow tie knot cause thatâs how he learned it and just never broke the habit. He would always change the shoelace color to whatever he was feeling that day. (They were always super funky)
Regulus: had the slip on fancy shoes. Never learned how to tie laces. (Was really insecure about it). Sirius also gave him a pair of stilettos as a joke gift and Reg set them on fire.
Lily: tied them normally. Was really smug whenever pure bloods didnât know how to. Wore a bunch of sandals and flip flops.
Little king
Lionheart
Little star (NOT to be confused with bright star who is Sirius)
Love (Reg calls him lover)
Gumdrop (because it annoys the FUCK out of him)
Lucy (let me explain. Everyone calls him Reg so he decided to call him the end of his name instead of the beginning but âlusâ was weird so he said Lucy)
Broom boy (affectionate)
James calls him lots of things but these are the most used.
James even called him shawty once and Reg only spoke to him in French until he promised not to do it again.
Hear me out, I know people hc James being tall, but Sirius and him give off such short king vibes together.
Like, people donât really think of him as short because heâs BUILT, but the moment him and Sirius are together (which is always), itâs like he loses a couple inches.
Heâs still taller than Lily and Regulus (cus Iâm a slut for Jegulus and Jegulilyđ€Ș) , which makes them angry because itâs only like half an inch and James constantly reminds them of it.
Rest In Peace Reggie Black. You wouldâve loved the Song of Achilliesđ
I knew I should have put a disclaimer first!!!!! I just thought people would realize this is my own characterization of Regulus and I probably shouldnât have put Snape as the comparison but other death eaters in general. Iâm so sorry if I made you mad I just fixed it now.
One small difference between Snape and Regulus is how they react to people wanting to join the death eaters.
A younger slytherin comes up to them and tells them they want to become a death eater too.
Snape is fully supportive. Tells them all about the glorious things the Dark Lord has done. Tells them they will have to work hard to gain such an honor and he will be waiting to see them at the next meeting.
Regulus tells them they are making a huge mistake. They will be used as a pawn in Voldemortâs game and, if not willing, forced to kill. He would say it isnât worth your life.
He tells that kid every horrific thing heâs seen or heard about (heâs still in school so he hasnât participated in it yet). Better to be scared than dead. He makes sure they donât want to participate in the war at all.
They are both death eaters, they both support Voldemort and have seen the unspeakable things that have been done. But Regulus knows when heâs being manipulated, and heâll be damned if he let someone be in the same position as him. Itâs too late for him, heâs too deep in the war. He realizes it never mattered what they were fighting for, people are dying no matter what they believed in. He doesnât want to contribute to that number more than he has to.
Okay look I know what I posted two seconds ago was contributing to this but it still confuses me:
Why is it that Snape lovers trash Regulus and vice versa?
Like, Snape lovers use Regulus to justify Snapeâs actions because he switched sides when Regulus never did.
But then Snape haters say that Regulus sacrificed his life to take down Voldemort and Snape was just saving his own ass.
Of course there are many more arguments, but I just feel like you canât really use their characters against each other.
Personally, I do love people having debates about each characters morality, but some people take it way too far for it to be about made up characters in a kids book.
Itâs just like, why Regulus Black, yâknow?
**this is my own take on Regulus. Literally none of this is canon.
One small difference between other death eaters and Regulus is how they react to people wanting to join the death eaters.
A younger slytherin comes up to them and tells them they want to become a death eater too.
People like Barty and Snape are fully supportive. They tell them all about the glorious things the Dark Lord has done. Tells them they will have to work hard to gain such an honor and he will be waiting to see them at the next meeting.
Regulus tells them they are making a huge mistake. They will be used as a pawn in Voldemortâs game and, if not willing, forced to kill. He would say it isnât worth your life.

*Story involves Drarry (probably the only drarry Iâll ever post)
This has been floating in my head for a while:
So Regulus and James dated but then broke up and Jily happened.
Regulus doesnât join the death eaters and they all survive the war.
So one night Harry wants his whole family to meet his new boyfriend. So James, Lily, Sirius, Regulus, and Remus are all in the living room when Harry comes home holding hands with Draco.
They all look at this emo slytherin boy whoâs the son of Narcissa Malfoy nĂ©e Black. Then they see this tan boy with crazy hair and the biggest smile. Sirius just bursts out laughing.
Harry doesnât know why his dad and Regulus are staring at them in shock or why Sirius is dying laughing. He asks whatâs wrong.
Sirius composes himself and just says, âDo you also happen to fancy a ginger?â Regulus kicks him out of the room for that comment.
Thatâs the night Harry found out his dad and Regulus used to date.
YES THIS ENERGY ONLYđ
The best part about being a marauders fan is there is pretty much no character information so we get to have these characters with very light information and do whatever the fuck we want with them and no one can say otherwise? All of them are gay? Sure! James is desi? Absolutely! Remus is welsh? Yes please! Marlene played quidditch? Yep! Lily and Remus were besties? Totally! Dorcas uses she/they pronouns? Hell yah! Regulus was in love with James? He is now!
There are no rules and she can suck it because theyâre not her characters anymore. Every single minor character, every ship, every head canon is canon if we say so!
Young Anton Ego from Ratatouille is my Regulus fancast
I think Walburga liked Sirius more than Regulus. Sirius fought back. He was a leader, a protector. He was strong minded and passionate but also incredibly loyal to his friends. Walburga thought that if she could get Sirius to agree with her ideals, all of his characteristics would fall perfectly in place of Voldemortâs right hand man. He wouldnât be just another DE, he would be in the inner circle. Walburga didnât expect much from Regulus, so she didnât care about him as much. Regulus was submissive and didnât think for himself. She knew he would become a DE, so she didnât pay attention to him. When Sirius left, Walburga was left with her spare. She was disappointed with not having a strong enough heir to be of more importance to Voldemort. Regulus was the disappointment in her eyes.
She was wrong about Regulus though. Regulus wasnât submissive, he was strategic. He had his own opinions and ideals, he just never said them because he knew it wouldnât get him anywhere. He knew how Sirius was treated and figured that speaking up for himself just wasnât worth it. He became a DE because he wanted to. He felt awful about his brother hating him for it, but he agreed with the world he was told Voldemort wanted to create (I think he was manipulated into thinking Voldemort just wanted a peaceful world where everyone could be free).
When Regulus realized heâd been tricked, he didnât want to be just another soldier on the light side like his brother, he wanted to take down Voldemort himself. (Little dramatic but love the enthusiasm) He sacrificed his life knowing that he would never get to say goodbye, never get to redeem himself in his brotherâs eyes. It wasnât expected nor welcome of him to do such a thing but he didnât care. He did what he wanted, whether people knew it or not.
Okay, I donât know if anyone remembers the movie Hot Rod, but the marauders fit so well with James as Rod, Lily as Denise, Sirius as Dave, Remus as Rico, Peter as Kevin, and Regulus as Maggie.
*tw child abuse
I like the thought of the one time Regulus helps Sirius is the night Sirius leaves.
Like, Walburga and Sirius are having this raging fight and as usual Regulus sits by the stairs and waits for it to be over.
As the fight starts to get violent he can hear Sirius fight back (which only started that summer)
He thinks Sirius is stupid and is only making it worse but it doesnât help the anxiety of knowing one of them will get hurt. He just wants it all to stop.
He hears someone crash to the ground while his mother is still screaming curses. Heâs scared out of his mind but his motherâs curses are slowly getting more severe and Sirius isnât responding. He slowly gets up and walks to the parlor.
He realizes that he can hear Sirius, but itâs just whimpers. He doesnât think about it too hard though. He doesnât think about how he doesnât have his wand on him. He doesnât think about how heâs supposed to wait by the stairs. He doesnât think about it when he stands in front of Sirius for the first time and disarms his mother from across the room. Right before she could utter the unforgivable. Her wand disappears from her hand. Into oblivion, Reg hopes.
He wanted it to stop. So he made it stop. But now he needs time to start up again so he can get the fuck out of there.
Sirius is bruised from head to toe but Reg manages to get him up the stairs. Sirius is only half conscious but he has a purpose as he stops leaning on him at the top of the stairs and starts ransacking his room.
Sirius canât believe it. Reg did it. He stood up to the old hag. Heâd been waiting for the right time to leave and this is just perfect. He doesnât bother with clothes, James will have plenty. He grabs his school things and all his pictures. Starting with one of him and James on his wall and slowly making his way to the one of Moony on his bedside table.
âCome on Reggie, get a move onâ Sirius throws over his shoulder. Regâs just been standing there in shock.
Regulus is still at the top of the stairs. He can hear Siriusâ scuffling around his room and his motherâs scrambling for her wand downstairs. The sounds are quiet but loud. Eerily similar to one another.
âWhat are you doing?â
âWeâre getting out of here.â
âWhat do you mean?â
Sirius finishes packing and turns back to Regulus. âCome with me. To Jamesâ. We can get out of here. We can leave.â
Sirius looks manic as he grabs Reg and takes them to his room. Sirius starts to grab his stuff and shove it into his bag. Heâs breathing heavily, trying to shove down the panic.
âI know we havenât gotten on very well these last few years⊠but we can fix it all now. Help me get all your stuff.â
âWe canât leave.â Regulus stills Siriusâ hands with his own. âAre you crazy? Mum will have a fit if we leave.â
âShe wonât be able to find us.â
âSheâll know where you went. Heâs your best friend.â Regulus knows all too well how close James and Sirius are. Practically brothers, as they say.
âReg,â Sirius is firmer now, âIâm leaving now. With or without you.â
Sirius makes his way to Regulusâ window. He just has to open the window and leave. âSirius, donât go.â
Itâs Regulusâ turn to panic. âJust stay. Iâm sure itâll all be fine. If we just apologize-â
âNo Reg. No more. I canât stay here.â Sirius opens the window and begins to clime out.
Regulus grabs his hand. âSirius please. Sirius just stay. Donât go. Itâll all be fine, just stay, please. Sirius Iâm so scared. » Regulusâ voice fades at the end, but Sirius hears it nonetheless. He grabs him and they wrap their arms around each other for the final time. « Youâll never be what they want you to be. Theyâll never be satisfied. »
Regulus doesnât answer. ïżŒthey always had differing opinions.
They pull back from each other but Sirius holds Regulusâ face, remembering the last time he saw him as his brother. « Goodbye, Reggie. »
Regulus wanted to say so much. Donât go. Come back to me someday. Donât let this be goodbye. Good luck. I canât lose you.
I love you
« Goodbye, brother. »
Sirius wouldâve grabbed Regulus and forced him out the window. He wouldâve tried harder when James blocked the front door as he tried to go back for him. But Regulus had proven himself. He had shown that he could stand up to their mother.
That was the first time Regulus had stood up for what was right. The second time, well, Iâm sure you can guess the second time, was the last time.
Sorry if you donât like sad jegulus. I like it more when Reg survives and thereâs awkward jegulily moments.
My jegulus breakup:
Regulus gets the mark. He knows that he has to break up with James now, he canât keep telling himself he deserves to be with him.
James is confused, they were doing just fine. Sure, Reg had been distant for a few weeks but his kisses carried the same passion as before. Was he the problem? Was he not good enough?(Letâs be real here James would blame himself) James demands to know why but Reg just keeps telling him they canât be together. âI thought you loved me. What happened?â James asks through his tears.
Reg freezes. Of course he loved him, how could you not love James Potter? The problem is that he didnât want James to love the waste of space he is.
He is desperate to have Jamesâ love. Itâs the only love that didnât take more than he could give.
He needs Jamesâ love. Craves it. Done what he could to be worth it.
But he doesnât want it. It hurts too much. It hurts having to disappoint another person who means everything to him. It hurts having to show him the mark. To watch his face change. To see his eyes fill with betrayal. To have him straighten his stance and walk away.
Regulus canât let James leave not knowing. âI do love youâ.
James looks at him for a moment and says âI guess it just wasnât enough, was it?â Thatâs the last thing he says to Regulus.
He wished James never loved him. But he wished more than anything that James never got to have his heart broken by someone as worthless as him.
James never once thought that. Regulus was ethereal. He was burned into the back of his eyelids and carved into his skin. There was nothing in Jamesâ life that didnât trace back to Regulus. He was simply, unforgettable.
Priceless.
Which is why it hurt so much more watching Regulus go down the path he thought he would be able to save him from.
for everybody going through tough times, believe me, mr. worldwide has both been there and done that âđ
And you canât tell me James wont give the âepic highs and lows of high school footballâ speech to Remusâ âI had to sell drugs for my nanaâ speech.
someone compared regulus to jughead and they were 100% right but dying at the thought of regulus giving Sirius the âIâm weird, Iâm a weirdoâ speech
It is my personal belief that Regulus Black wouldâve listened to rage rap.
Honestly, like I ship jegulus but I couldnât care less if you donât so Iâm not gonna talk about that. But atyd is like canon to some people. Sirius and Remus obviously have a lot of trauma and thatâs makes it hard for them to let people in, but they were best friends for a long time before they got together, and to the both of them, their friends meant everything. Their friends are quite literally the only thing they have. I feel like that just doesnât show in atyd. Neither of them learn how to trust or communicate even tho thatâs what theyâve been trying to do since they first met. All four of them are supposed to have this unbreakable bond, even if they fight, they will always be connected, so why does it feel like all s+r do is fight and like Peter was just waiting to become a death eater??
no cause why is marauders tiktok so defensive about atyd and jegulus like- sorry not everyone likes James being shipped with a fascist and a fic thats main couple appears toxic đ
