I made some homemade moth/spider/ant repellent today. I live in a fairly old house so little creepy crawlers are inevitable, I won’t use pesticide or any poisons in my house though obviously so these are some good herbal/natural alternatives. Moths and ants are my main problem, they get into my clothes and bedsheets and it’s just not a fun experience. So the spray is made of peppermint, lemon, rose and lavender oils all of which ants, spiders and moths don’t like. I spray this directly into my clothes drawers and closet and around windows and doors. It smells lovely and keeps the bugs out! The satchels contain cinnamon, cloves, peppermint, lemon peel, and thyme. I put those in my drawers and nestled among my hanging clothes. So far I’ve seen good results! You do have to respray every few weeks and replace satchels every few months though. But over all I think this is a very nice, earth friendly pest control method.
* side note, mice also don’t like a lot of these herbs, specifically mint, so it might be worth a try to use this method to keep them out too.
