I’ve always loved a theory I saw that the vault isn’t even in Beacon either.

It’s in the Emerald Forest Ruin.

There’s some logic to support this, but it isn’t concrete:

The relic of choice getting hidden right under the spot where where partnered students choose their teammates.

The relic draws grim to it. The forest has more grim than we ever saw in the wild in Anima, for instance. But it would be regularly cleared out by students training in it.

The forest is wired up with cameras, supposedly just to monitor initiation, but Grimm Eclipse up and calls it a security system.

It’s not perfect, but I do love the idea.

Beacon’s Vault

So we know that the Relic of Choice is hidden differently to other relics, but I think I may have an idea on whereabouts it may be, or at least the door to it.

There’s a lot we can discern from the Vault under Haven Academy and later Atlas Academy. Each Vault is accessible via a tall, thin trapezium door which is unlocked by the touch of a maiden.

The Spring Vault is that of a dreamlike desert landscape, a single biome that stretches to the Horizon - a pocket dimension of sorts. The fact that it is a desert is to make it abundantly clear that this is not part of Haven, nor even Mistral.

I would say it’s easiest to assume that Atlas and Vacuo’s vaults have similarly contrasting biomes to the kingdoms they’re housed in - for example, Atlas’s may be a green forest, while Vacuo’s might be comprised of waterfalls and lakes. Being magical, these vaults probably aren’t beholden to the whims of time and therefore likely stay as they are, year around.

You’re probably wondering where I’m going with this.

Each vault is an almost unnatural biome.

Each vault stands out against its home kingdom.

The vaults probably don’t change based on natural-world time.

Now where have we seen something like that around Beacon?

Oh yeah, Forever Fall.

There’s a place in Vale that is noted to literally be always Fall. Not beholden to the passage of seasons or time, for no particular explained reason. (Unless…)

Volume 3 shows us fall, and its trees aren’t as bright red as Forever Fall’s are - they’re a more natural orange. Volume 1 makes a point of showing us this place twice, once in the Black Trailer and again in the Jaunedice arc, and yet never explains why it’s how it is. Jaunedice could have just as easily (if not more easily due to budget) occurred in the Emerald Forest again. But they choice to show us Forever Fall.

I’m not sure whether Beacon’s vault is located in Forever Fall, or if it is Forever Fall, or if it’s even goddamn open already and has leaked out into Forever Fall, but it’s something to do with goddamn Forever Fall.

Because it was unlocked, keep up.

Blake: *Shirt already gone, trying to shake her pants off without standing* We should all be doing this, sisterhood, no secrets. I don’t care if my friends can see my ears or my ass or my piercings.

Yang: *Covering Ruby’s eyes* Weiss! Stop squealing and close the curtains! Wait, what’s pierced?

Ruby: Yang let go of my face!

Blake: Ruby please. You need to call Team JNPR over. We’ll need to cuddle them for, for warmth when it gets cold tonight...

Weiss: BLAKE LET GO OF ME!

Blake: *Tugging on Weiss’s skirt* TELL THEM THEY NEED TO BRING FOOD WITH THEM! NIGHTS ARE WAY LONGER DURING WINTER!

Yang: Damn it guys!! Who left the catnip out again!? You know Blake isn’t allowed near it unsupervised!

I seriously keep wanting to write a fic that starts with this, and they just end up landing within sight of each other.

Then they have to trek an indeterminate distance together to get to the evacuation point back at Beacon or back to Vale. Jaune wouldn’t have a clue who she is at this point in canon, I think?

Feels and bonding would happen, I have no idea what would happen once they were wherever they wanted to go though...

It’s not just that they both lost someone at Beacon. It’s that they couldn’t do anything to stop it.

Why not start basic. How/When do you imagine them meeting?

I mean there’s a couple ways I enjoy it. Thw first one I think quite a few people have mentioned this way already.

They could meet after the fall at some point.

Jaune finds out Neo really only wants revenge. She’s convinced by the group to join their side because really it is Cinder’s fault. She continues on her revenge thing for a while. Then comes these late evenings, where its just Neo and Jaune, they communicate, and he tries to get through to her that he has gone through the same thing. The only thing it managed to do is get him in a bad situation and someone he cares about hurt.

She’s stubborn though, and she only cared about one other person. It doesn’t get through to her. He doesn’t stop, to her annoyance. She keeps her distance from the group, but she slowly gets dragged in by them to hangout. She ends up hanging around JNR more, however it is still awkward.

They manage to get her to smile, not a smirk but a genuine smile. She starts noticing and denying how close she is getting with them, specifically Jaune. It’s when she notices one day that as they’re all walking together she skipped forward and latched onto Jaune’s arm. She doesn’t know how long she was holding it for, but when she realizes what she is doing she jerks away.

She goes back to her distancing again. Jaune gets the worst of it. This goes on for a bit as he attempts to figure out what happened. Sometime later in a battle, Neo is too eager for a fight, and it leads to Jaune getting knocked out of it. For the first time in a long while, Neo’s heart jumps out of fear. She can’t control herself as she finds her body running towards him and holding him.

It’s at that moment she realizes what Jaune was trying to convince her. When the fight is clear and over with she stays by him until he’s better. When he comes to Neo is there to greet him, and she’s so ecstatic he is alright. She jumps in his lap, and he groans of pain. She smile at that before getting angry at him for making her worry. The next thing she knows shes kissing him, hard, and finally admits to herself that she cares about someone else. She jumps off his lap afterwards, and leave the room with him in shock. If he wants her, he’s gonna have to stand up and get her.

The other way is just that they meet up when Neo was pretending to be a student during the festival. And I won’t go to big into detail on that.

But this blog exists in it’s own universe cause I probably will reference being at beacon a bit.

And I have a weird feeling that if/when the Belladonna’s knew where Blake was Kali would be pushing like hell for some kind of Marriage Agreement, and if Jaune won’t sign it Kali knows Mama Arc might.

councilman arc au) jaune starts a navy, mainly cause the newer sail ships are far more efficiant than the air ships and bull heads currently used for trade and a navy is needed to protect the supply lines. for some reason all of his new officers are female. that's kinda weird but he's not gonna question it. most of the jobs right now are just general logistics and getting everything set in motion. meanwhile ironwood tries to figure out what the "political mastermind" councilor arc is up to.

James Ironwood had a problem.

He had a problem with Vale, specifically with its now sole councilman. He did not count Ozpin, since Beacon’s headmaster rarely attended hearings and was, essentially, acting as a councilman in name only.

Jaune Arc was an unknown to the general. His family was known, sure, but the young man did not appear on any radar prior to his meteoric rise into the most powerful position in the kingdom.

That was not to mention the incredible amount of stuff the young man did in his short time as councilman. Corruption went down to historic lows, faunus rights were enforced, healthcare got better, taxes were lowered...the living standard in all of vale went up by quite a margin, a calculation that ensured the kingdom as a whole to become richer.

In the eyes of the general, this young man was a political mastermind. Which made it all the more difficult to discern his true motives. What was he up to? For what did he intend to use his office?

Simply put: How did his master plan look like?

Jaune had no idea what he was doing, only that he did it right.

Well, to say he had no idea was a bit of a stretch, maybe. True, he intended to make things better for the average citizen; true, he wanted corruption gone and to give Jacques Schnee the middle finger...

But did that mean that he had to have a plan for everything?

Well, no. Especially not in the matter right now.

“Wattra Ion, codename “Iowa”, at your service, councilman!”

Before him stood an oddly perky, and quite beautiful, young captain of the new Valean fleet. Jaune had decided that Vale should not over-rely on the Atlesian military and had begun construction of a Valean fleet, solely equipped to handle and exterminate Grimm.

On the high seas, that is, not in the air. Yes, air ships were valuable, but harder to replace and maintain than sea ships. Besides, trade by sea was becoming increasingly valuable, especially since Jaune intended to hash out a trade agreement with Menagerie, another move that infuriated racists everywhere and  ensure faunus support.

Hence a collection of new navy captains right before him.

Only a problem, well, two. First one was, all of these captains were inexplicably female, for whatever reason. How come no guy was able to make it through the aptitude test? Complacency?

Well, the other problem was more important, as it practically jumped into the councilman’s eyes.

“What’s up with your uniform?” It twas certainly not the standard uniform of the Valean navy, that was for sure. Nope, it was more revealing.

“Oh, this?” Iowa twirled around with a grin, stars twinkling in her eyes. “I customized it. You like?”

“I mean, um...” Now how could he say this delicately? ”Don’t you think it could distract others?“

The captain grinned at him for it. “Maybe I want it to be. Maybe...” She leaned in closer, giving hi a good eyeful of cleavage.

“I got my eye on a certain someone.”

With a wink, she retreated and filed back in the line of hopeful young ship captains.

Jaune already had a headache.
