Summer desk setup. Starting to study for the August MPRE.
24.08.2024—see how i study on the weekends? very demure, very cutesy, very academic weapon
what is something that sets you up for your day? 🌤🍵 it feels so nice to wake up to a view of your stack of favorite books every morning 🥹✨ i’ve had this little “favorites” stack for a while, and lately it’s been growing in size, which is always great ☺️🤍 oh, and it’s always lovely to play a familiar film in the background to set the mood 💫🌷🎨 https://www.instagram.com/p/ClBfL5zvtXg/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I had a lovely time with my friend D this weekend:
we went to a light & sound installation that was really impressive & fun,
had mala tang (I think I technically had mala ban?) for dinner,
tiny mock mojitos on my balcony before bed
and a delicious breakfast in my favourite café.
I'm now reading to bridge the gap between saying goodbye to D and meeting two friends for our museum sunday outing (museum sunday is a Thing in berlin and I love it).
we're going to see an exhibition on menstruation that's supposedly created with an intersectional feminist approach (which also means it uses trans inclusive language, very curious about that!)

I am so busy with exams and can't wait for the next two weeks to be over. Also a lot of big stressful things are coming up but I need to remember that they will pass just like all the other big stressful things did.
Hey, long time no see!
I try to post more regularly, but it’s really stressful lately. I’m still working on my bachelors thesis, the experiments do not seem to come to an end. I really struggle with my adhd atm and just try to hold every together :’)
Let’s see what the next weeks bring!
i finished babel last week and only managed to recently finish annotating because i needed time to digest everything that happened in the book 🥲😭❤️🩹 . babel’s a masterpiece. i loved the book from the beginning till the end. the diverse characters are amazing, the dark academia setting/atmospheric writing is stunning, and tying all this with the whole plot being focused on the power of language and translation is just exquisite. this is one of the best books i’ve ever read 😭 so many books that i’ve read this hear have been so amazing 🥹✨ what is a book that you’ve recently read and loved? https://www.instagram.com/p/CklBX86vPAd/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
hi, sorry if this is a random ask, but do you have any advice for wasting less time between studying sessions? i'm a big fan of pomodoro so I know I am getting 5 hours of work done, but it seems to take me eight or nine hours to do it
so sorry i got to this late, i didn't see it in my inbox !! oh gosh, this is such a good question because i always feel like i'm wasting time in between studying sessions. for me, i force myself to do a few things, which i feel like have helped me these past few years:
go to a slightly uncomfortable place with a few goals to achieve, usually a café or casual restaurant. this is why i'm always at cafés instead of the library or my room—if i study at a place that's too comfortable, i find myself wasting more time. if i'm at a café, i feel pressured to stay no more than 2 hours (a little more if i get another drink!) so i end up trying to finish my tasks as soon as possible because i don't want to spend more money than i have to. i usually go to the library at night when cafés are closed
dress up (makeup, cute outfit + heeled boots, the whole nine yards). i find myself more productive when i'm feeling pretty and good about myself. there's been scientific studies about it! if i'm too chill in pjs or sweats, i find that i'm too relaxed and spend more time scrolling on my phone during breaks. this sounds silly but i'm extremely dressed up when i take exams—someone asked me why i was wearing red lipstick for our financial accounting exam lolol. but i felt confident and it translates! i actually don't even own any sweats anymore haha
if you're not feeling productive at night, just call it a night and start again early in the morning. i'm admittedly a night owl but if it's like 2 a.m. and i just find myself scrolling on twitter and feeling shitty about not being productive, i just call it a night and start again the next morning :))
hope this helps !!

i just finished doing anki for hours (quite a load to catch up to because i studied a lot yesterday) and now i want to nap before my PM OB ER duty. i’m happy and grateful, despite the toxicness of every duty. despite our emergency OR yesterday that lasted until 530am. i really feel like i’m in the right place.
I chose to waste time in a way I like, and everything aesthetic fills my soul
