I have been absent for a few weeks, my fics have not been updated and I haven't managed to write a word, not for lack of trying. This year has been intense and I am mentally exhausted; my BED is back with a vengeance and I barely sleep. I'd need a vacation but that's not going to happen any time soon. I'm going to take some time off. I'll still be reading, obviously, but I'm putting my writing to rest for a bit, hopefully not too long.

A Rather Inappropriate Potions Master

The following day, Hermione had a two-period class with 6th year Hufflepuffs and Slytherins. Snakes and Badgers seemed to share an obsession for Professor Malfoy. Whenever she turned her back to the class to write on the board, which she usually did by hand to give the students time to copy, she would hear whispered words about her and Malfoy. About how he was in love with her, had been for a long time. Apparently, the school had a running wager about the two of them.

Every class she taught, no matter the year or the house, someone whispered behind her back. The younger students talked of hand-holding and walks by the lake. The seveth years said things that made Hermione blush. She would have never dared to think such things about McGonagall or Snape, let alone say them out loud!

The situation was getting out of hand, she thought of making a scene and telling everyone to shut up, but she knew that making a scene never, in the history of mankind, helped gossip die down.

Hermione walked into the conference room, every Head o Department stood to greet her and she replied and shook hands as she walked towards her chair at the head of the table. When she sat down everyone followed her example and the chatter died down.

“Good morning. As you all know, Mr Miles resigned and we are here to elect a new Head for the Department of International Magical Cooperation. We have two candidates to choose from, they will come in and present their views and ideas and then we will vote. Each of you has a copy of the candidates’ CVs. After the election we will have a round table discussion. We have many reforms going on at the same time and I think it wise to share information.” Hermione looked around the table at each Head of Department and then nodded to Eniiyi to let in the candidates.

Fics I loved - Part 4 - Girl On A Train

I practically inhaled this fic today as I was making dinner. I nearly sliced my finger open because I was more focused on the reading than I was on the tomato-dicing, but that's a story for another time. It's a quick read and I wholeheartedly suggest you head to AO3 right now and give it a go. It will make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

I followed a plot bunny, again. It was supposed to be a one shot, but I may have to split it in 2 chapters since I'm 6k words in and I still need to write the climax (The climax of the story! Merlin's beard! Get your mind out of the gutter!) and then wrap it up nicely.

Of Drought and Downpour - Chapter 7

Hermione peeked through the peep hole beside the entrance. Malfoy was right there, waiting for her. She heard the Fat Lady flirt with him and saw him squirm. He wore dark blue slacks and loafers, a white button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, the first two buttons at the neck left open, and a thin blue jumper casually thrown over his broad shoulders, the sleeves of which were dangling over his muscular chest.

The dark mark had been covered by another tattoo, a phoenix, of all things. That was somehow fitting and unexpected at the same time, Hermione thought. He was, objectively speaking, beautiful. If he were a painting, she would probably get Stendhal Syndrome just by looking at him. But he wasn’t a painting. He was a person. A person with whom she shared a heavy baggage. Summoning her inner Gryffindor, she took a deep breath and stepped outside.

He smiled when he saw her. Not a smirk or a sneer but a bright, wide smile, with teeth that would make her parents squeak with glee.

“Hermione.” He paused. “Is it alright if I call you Hermione? I thought, since we are going on a date, perhaps we should be on a first name basis. But if you’re uncomfortable with that, I can still call you Granger.” His smile faltered for a brief moment.

Hermione breathed in through her nose and held her breath for a few seconds, then, as she exhaled, she said “Hello, Draco. First names are fine.” She smiled at him in return. His eyes sparkled in the candle light as he offered her his arm. Hermione placed her hand at the crook of his elbow and they quietly descended the stairs, heading towards the entrance hall.

Part 5 - to be continued

Hermione’s day began with the slytherin first years. Matilda Flint walked straight towards her as soon as she stepped inside the classroom. “Professor Granger, I’m sorry about last week. I dodn’t mean anythig about the ring. I was confused.”

“It’s alright, Miss Flint. Just focus on your studies, rather than your Professors’ private lives.”

Her classmates were getting nervous, trying to stop Matilda from saying something she shouldn’t. Hermione was torn between exploiting the situation or protecting her students. She obviously chose the latter. She shooed Flint back to her seat putting her classmates out of their misery.

Her second period was free, but she refused to look at her phone. Third period she had 7th year Slytherins and Gryffindors. She was sure that Alicia Avery had a crush on Draco, she was the main reason why Draco had asked her to fake date him.

Avery didn’t disappoint. She walked through the door talking loudly to Belinda Bott (heir to the Bertie Bott’s fortune). “I saw him go out last night, he was so handsome with the green blazer. I’m sure he’s the perfect boyfriend, generous, smart. A proper gentleman.” She ended with a sigh. Bott continued. “And he is so in love with her! I hope she realizes how lucky she is.” More sighs followed. “I wonder if they kissed.”

Draco had written to her as soon as he’d opened his eyes. But she hadn’t read his message. He’d managed to get hold of Avery, she was the only one he could trust with this. He needed her to remind Hermione about their kiss. He wished he could speak openly to her and declare his feelings. But he was afraid she would run if he did. After class, Avery  and Bott came to update him. “Professor, we did as we had agreed. I think she’s just about ready to crack.” “Great job, ladies. Time for phase 4. Unleash the badgers.”

With a nod, Avery and Bott left Draco’s office and head towards the Great Hall. Before heading to the Slytherin table they stopped  to speak with the  Hufflepuff prefects.

- All works posted to the collection will be hidden and anonymous until the relevant day/prompt occurs, i.e. if you post a work for the Day 20 prompt, it will remain hidden and anonymous until September 20th. Works posted for a previous date’s prompt will not be hidden.

- Works with sensitive and explicit content, including dead doves, are allowed. Please use AO3’s tagging system for all relevant warnings and potentially triggering content. Works with ‘Author Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings’ will not be allowed.

- Works do not have to be complete to post. We encourage WIP works.

- The collection will remain open until October 15th 2024 after the end of Dramione Month to allow for late claiming and posting. Please feel free to post for past days during the month as well!

-When posting to the AO3 collection, you are free to post all your works for Dramione Month as a single AO3 work, with each prompt as a separate chapter. If this is the case, please claim one of the final Free Day (either Day 29 or Day 30) prompts. The only drawback we can see from this is that AO3 now limits how many tags a work can have, thus you may not be able to tag everything relevant for your single work. Another possible downside is that some readers may be turned off by a long wall of tags, with no easy way to know which chapter which tags apply to.

We recommend posting each prompt claim as a single work, and placing each of your works in a series (separate from our Collection) so readers can navigate easily through your prompt fills by clicking 'Next Work' at the bottom of each work.

-When your work is revealed, please remember to change the posting date to the current date!!

- Again, posting to AO3 is optional.
