i cant judge 1863rd yoo joonghyuk for anything he did if han sooyoung appeared in front of me smoking a cigarette and telling me to kill myself for her i would also obey without hesitation. likewise if kim dokja appeared in front of me and pet my hair and told me to live forever i would follow his words too. really cant blame him for anything that happened in that timeline i think

21. han sooyoung and yoo joonghyuk in snowfield dimension during group regression arc. they helped kim dokja with his own skill there (he got trapped inside the fourth wall in the dark castle arc when he fought devourer of dreams. he told han sooyoung "someone called out to me. if it werent for that voice, i might have ended up in that place"). and it turned out to be their voices! "Don't get swallowed up by your own skill!" "Cancel your skill, Kim Dokja."
for this part, if you are confused with the timeline and with this snowfield dimension thing, you will understand later if you read the side story.

22. the whole 1863 arc. the deal between yoo joonghyuk and han sooyoung, han sooyoung and kim dokja's fight, kim dokja and yoo joonghyuk's "The world that you showed, does it really exist?".

23. when they fought 999 outer gods, dokja told sooyoung to endure until joonghyuk come. joonghyuk came and saved her, then moved to dokja's place to save him too (and other companions as well).
24. han sooyoung smirked and lightly pinched his cheek as if she was proud of him when she knew dokja went crazy and attacked joonghyuk because she 'died' by joonghyuk's hands.
25. still on isle of reincarnation arc. han sooyoung felt a bit lonesome when she asked joonghyuk "did you hear the answer you wanted?" and joonghyuk answered "a little."

26. still on isle of reincarnation arc (again). sooyoung helped joonghyuk to get an answer from dokja. she almost died there and she did that to avoid both of joonghyuk's and dokja's death.
dokja and joonghyuk's whole introduction too. dokja realized he couldnt kill him and just accepted his fate being killed by joonghyuk because he thought he deserved it. also, joonghyuk's satisfied with the answer he got (eventho he still want to find more esp about the 4th wall)
dokja's reaction after seeing han sooyoung still alive...
yoo joonghyuk stole dokja's modifier "demon king of salvation" (he left the 'of' LMAO) but he also gave him the left over (asmodeus' modifier) so dokja didnt fail the scenario. dokja was his demon king target 😭 this man i swear.
and after all those shits happened, dokja cried in front of sooyoung. she gave him lemon candy. and you know what? she was crying too in here after seeing him cry. "she avoided his gaze", "han sooyoung rubbed her eyes as she spoke"
no because isle of reincarnation arc was one of the lowest point of dokja. he fought BAD with joonghyuk, saw han sooyoung died right IN FRONT OF HIS EYES by joonghyuk's hands, went crazy but couldnt bring himself to fight back eventho he thought joonghyuk already crossed the line. and lets think about joonghyuk's feeling too because knowing your companion chose to stay in another regression turn and knowing your life was a book he read, and then sooyoung's feeling witnessing all of them from BOTH's sides.

27. this is related to number 6. when sooyoung and joonghyuk fought each other, they talked about dokja, the desperation because they couldnt save him. sooyoung said "i know you would have gone back if you still could regress" and joonghyuk said "i may have. are you any different?" and turned out sooyoung tried really hard to endure, but she just couldnt. and then joonghyuk told her he wanted her to kill him. "Every cell in her body was ringing alarm bells."
28. during group regression when kimcom tried to reach dokja by breaking past the letters that protected him, sooyoung used her new stigma [Character Summon] to summon joonghyuk. [Character, 'Yoo Joonghyuk', is answering the call] and then he said "Hold on tight" and grabbed sooyoung's hands.
after that, joonghyuk's hands reached and grabbed dokja's collars.
this part made me tear up real good because it perfectly potrayed how the writer (hsy) summoned the protagonist (joonghyuk) to reach the reader (dokja). just like how sooyoung wrote a story about joonghyuk to keep dokja alive for 13 years :(
29. han sooyoung and yoo joonghyuk fought over kim dokja's things
30. 0th turn yoo joonghyuk and kim dokja. (post) 1863rd turn han sooyoung and kim dokja. (post) 1865th turn yoo joonghyuk and han sooyoung.
31. kaizenix arc again. when sooyoung and dokja began yapping amongst themselves and using the "as a writer" and "as a reader", joonghyuk told them to shut up. both of them immediately shut up lol. then sooyoung said "lets trust the protagonist" and dokja agreed with that. in the end they used joonghyuk's method: "lets just face them head on" 😭 my sillies
32. still kaizenix arc (one of my fav arc so i will mention it a lot eheh). when sooyoung tried to prove her kingship as the new king of kaizenix, she showed the citizens dokja's sword. but some still glared at them so joonghyuk stepped forward and said she is indeed the new ruler. dokja also gave some speeches. in the end, the crowd knelt down to the three of them
33. this whole thing made (number 12) sounds funnier. joonghyuk was transmigrated as schweichen and he needed to marry yuri (hsy), but the usurpation happened so the marriage failed, after that there were shits here and there, leading to the (number 12) event 😭
34. when they exited the train, han sooyoung and yoo joonghyuk were the only ones who looked back, feeling like something was left behind. "We are getting off together, right?" "Of course, we should."
this broke me because THEY KNEW.
35. both yoo joonghyuk and han sooyoung were willing to replace kim dokja as the oldest dream.
36. han sooyoung to kim dokja and yoo joonghyuk in final battle : "You sons of bitches, not even saying a single thing to me…!"
37. the whole group regression thing was joonghyuk's plan. he asked sooyoung for help. before this, sooyoung went to him because she thought he was the only one who would have different opinion about this dokja avatar thing.

39. han sooyoung and kim dokja took turn slapping yoo joonghyuk's cheeks but because his cheeks were so hard so their palms went numb instead. this happened when they were about to fight 999 outer gods.
40. "Damn, Kim Dokja." She started cursing but didn't feel any better. Thus, Han Sooyoung added one more thing. "Bastard Yoo Joonghyuk."

KDJ gets isekai'd right at the ending of Ways of Survival. The ending of a story is like death. There is nothing written past the Final Scenario and YJK slowly starts transforming into an outer god. Not like SP, but more like an extant form of life, with garbled memories and messed up form like 'Made in Abyss' if you've ever seen it.
YJK just looks like a blob of stories. He cannot even be called remotely human. KDJ tries to pick him up, but his existence is like a gelatinous sack, and sentences slip past his arms. He cannot even hold him.
They spend their days in N'Gai forest. KDJ tries to make him comfortable. He cooks for YJK. They watch rounds of Ways of Survival together.

KDJ is there, alive, like a protagonist
She spent years trying to understand him in the hopes he would be resurrected in her writing, but because her understanding of him stopped when he was at the lowest point in his depression, this Kim Dokja is eternally at his lowest point in the pages.
The narrative keeps him alive. The purpose of this story is so that KDJ can live.
Living is so painful for KDJ, but for a universe that was meant to grieve him, to hold onto him, to capture him 'exactly as he was' he is doomed to never become happier because a happier KDJ did not exist in reality. HSY tries. She tries so hard to change the already-written sentences.

Yoohan:
A soul for a soul. That is the law of exchange in demonic pacts. They wanted to bring back their deceased mutual friend. They thought they were being smart and had found a loophole: they would each trade one half of their soul in exchange for one whole Kim Dokja. That way neither of them would die and KDJ would live. But demonic pacts aren't fair. The demon gave each of them one half of Kim Dokja.
50% YJK now inhabits 50% of KDJ in his body. He doesn't understand himself anymore. He's acting different and he knows it and its almost like he's a character and a reader is projecting himself into his actions.
50% HSY now inhabits 50% of KDJ into her body. She can hear him talking to her sometimes. She barely recognizes who he is.
HSY and YJK chase after the vestiges of someone else in each other.

Actually I'm not done talking about yoohankim's awful digital footprint pre-scenarios. Kim Dokja gets a lot of flack for being chronically online and cringe and that's fair enough but let's just acknowledge that neither Yoo Joonghyuk or Han Sooyoung are ANY better.
For Han Sooyoung it's obvious. Despite having her own sucessful webnovel, presumably with fans who support her, she gets obsessed with her one hater who thinks she is a plagiarist, finds the "original" novel where this guy was the only commenter on every chapter, and instead of reading her own comments she spends her time reading HIS and imagining he's saying that about her writing. She does this for years. DERANGED BEHAVIOUR. Pre-scenarios Han Sooyoung has no excuse to be acting this crazy. Sent to internet jail for being weird online.
1863rd Han Sooyoung. Automatically get a pass to act unhinged bc after going through the apocalypse that's just expected and also the only person she talks to for 13 years is Kim Dokja and a creepy old man who calls her god, BUT. That being said she's a perfectly average and healthy internet user! Spends literally every waking moment writing a shitty webnovel so hard pieces of her soul chip away and infuse in it, sure, but she doesn't bother anyone, just does her own thing, posts the chapters and occasionally chats with her one commenter. The most normal one here. Somehow.
Kim Dokja. Big fan of a webnovel and can get intense about it sometimes, starts fights online defending his fave character, recommends the same novel so much he gets banned from forums, whatever. WE'VE ALL BEEN THERE IS WHAT IM SAYING. This is nothing too crazy, only about the level of an average fandom superfan. Uses his real name online which is certainly a choice but some people do that in real life too. Giving him a pass, I was also a cringey emo teen on the internet once. (and im still cringe and emo)
Yoo Joonghyuk as seen in Yoo Mia side story. Absolutely glued to his phone. He checks it while eating breakfast, while in the car being driven to work, while literally walking down the street so that Yoo Mia has to tell him to put it away and hold her hand! He is basically addicted to reading hate comments about himself. In his narration he mentions that there are only a few regulars in the forums he lurks in and that he recognizes all their usernames, accidentally revealing that he's in too deep and officially lost in the sauce. Even his manager tells him he should stop reading the comments because they clearly upset him, but he justifies it to himself by thinking quote, "If someone has a grudge against him, he just needs to be prepared to face that hatred. Then everything is under his control." That last line especially is such a cope, and reveals that this behavior is another one of his desperate attempts to feel in control of his life, and as pathetic as that is and as much as I feel sympathy this is being weird online and I'm sending him to Internet jail.
Bonus round: Secretive Plotter. Need I say anything. Absolutely glued to his phone AGAIN, no it doesn't make it better that sometimes it's his kkomas instead of him. Canonically has a bound book of every single comment Kim Dokja ever left on WOS, printed out, which is more freak mode than even Han Sooyoung went. Straight to jail.
Orv is suchhh a good fandom for fan analysis and meta and theories like what we do here on tumblr, because it IS that deep and you ARE meant to be reading into it, unlike a lot of other writers of media with big fandoms who seem to actively despise their fans and people analysing their work. I'm talking about bbc sherlock and supernatural here mainly, not to name names. Both of those have themes and motifs that you could read into, and many do, but it feels like you are stubbornly fighting against the writers to enjoy their work, rather than working with them to explore it to it's fullest.
But not orv. Here they even acknowledge the ridiculous nature of what they are trying to do with orv, and the critisisms a skeptic might have.

You're MEANT to be reading into it!!! even IF the authors didn't intend something, it doesn't matter, because death of the author!!!!
So when you're looking at orv through the lense of freudian psychoanalysis or whatever you're DOING IT RIGHT! Sing Shong respect and allow this, and that's such a unique thing I've never gotten from another fandom before.
Orv's character chemistry is insane. You could point at 2+ people and say you ship them romantically/as a qpr/platonically/some other way I haven't thought of and I would just nod along.

the real cruelty of orv is that yoohankim were stuck in a tragic reverse isekai apocalypse novel instead of the slapstick cartoon comedy they truly belong. those guys should be dropping pianos on each others heads and hitting each other with cartoon mallets ala tom and jerry thats what their dynamic really needs. but alas they are stuck fighting in an apocalypse and tragically losing each other. its just not right....
