Drew some concept art of my fic Remus when he's in 5th year (we're barely on chapter 2. Fifth year is literally 53 chapters away) n he's just so silly I wanna eat him

To peter: 'are you the sun? cause you're making me red and wet all over,' which was an immediate no and an insanely loud cackle from Benjy who tried his best to be a good friend and remain serious.

To remus: 'are you a broom? cause I wanna ride you till my legs are shaking,' a maybe, since remus started to blush but that was mostly cause lily said it while helping him apply oil to his scars while in his lap and remus always got nervous in close proximity.

To marlene: 'are you treacle tart? cause... stop laughing!' a no since she couldn't actually finish it because marlene was picturing james 'dick drawing' potter having sex and couldnt stop laughing since she imagined him making the same grandpa noises as he did during practice.

And last, but not least; from sirius, since he didn't want to picture his everything-but-blood brother shagging his everything-but-the-ring sister-in-law because 'do you really think james cares if you're sexy or not? You could show up dressed as a crazy cat lady with the hair-curlers and nightgown and ugly slippers and he'd still think you're the hottest and prettiest thing- ow! woman! he's ever seen. Stop worrying!'

which made lily realise she was being silly, and that if james really broke up with her cause she wasn't sexy enough, he wasn't worth it any way. (She still used the pickup lines on him just to see his reactions and wasn't disappointed when his jaw literally dropped and his pupils dilated)

for the longest time he just left his hair slicked back or combed over. (yes im pushing my choir boy reg agenda WHAT ABT IT) like he didnt even know he had curls till he was too lazy to comb it over one lazy morning and all of a sudden his head was a frizzy curled mess. (picture a horrible perm) he didnt even know until a slytherin first year who was jumping through hoops for his favor offered to teach him a bird repelling spell. after asking why, he was horrified and the first year apologized.

He tried potions and spells and chants and stones yet nothing seemed to help calm his hair... and he couldn't very well ask Sirius for help since his hair was much less coiled than Regulus's. After about a month of tireless effect (anger filled quidditch practices when he cursed every great wizard for keeping the one muggle custom of hating anything that isn't straight) he finally caved and called in reinforcements.

You know where I'm going with this, right?

HE CALLED LILY, JAMES AND REMUS!

Listening carefully, while James nodded without actually listening (occasionally saying things like 'mhm mhm yes sir you make a fine point.' to impress or bother lily enough that she'll like him ...she'll never admit it but she giggled a little internally) operation make 'regulus handsome again!' was forced in motion.

James tried a natural salve that his dad made that 'enhanced your roots and made your strands shine!' It sort of worked, except they found out that Regulus is allergic to unicorn horn dust and sapflowers.

Lily tried massaging oils that she'd seen her mom use occasionally (and Mrs Evans had the prettiest curls ever!) but it weighed down the strands too much since she applied enough for three people so regulus kind of just looked like Snape. (After regulus saw his reflection, he looked like he'd braved a fight with a dementor)

Remus, who'd been the last one to try anything, and who did the least for his curls (yet they still looking impeccable! fking lupin genes 😒) decided to lend Regulus some of his self made soaps and conditioners that never really worked for him. Regulus did, reluctantly, and found that the frizz was almost gone, and that it smelled very reminiscent of citrus and eucalyptus. In fact, they looked so good that not only did lily ask for the recipe and James berated Remus for never hooking him up with his idiotic talent for accidentally making things that work wonderfully, he was able to convince his mother to left him open his own gringotts vault (of which he planned to use to finally rid his surroundings of those horrid walls of horrid memories.) the end!!!!!! Idk when I wanted this to go but it went somewhere I think

frequent pet peeve is when bisexual characters r instantly dumbed down to 'straight' whenever they're not dating someone who's the same gender. like apparently sexuality is whoever's gender u kiss is suddenly the only gender u like.

rep is amazing for lesbian women and gay men and why can't someone like both? (That sounds like an argument someone would make to ship a lesbian with a man) but also the lack of representation and over-sexualization of bisexuality is astounding. it feels very biphobic whenever bi characters r represented, it's usually to call them sluts and say they get around.😑 like c'mon. why r u so scared to make ur characters bi??? and pan!! make ur characters pansexual!!!!!!! what r they gnna do? kiss the same gender AND opposite gender AND JUST GENDER????? THE WORLD IS OVER!

One of the things that pisses me off most about this genocide and overall occupation is how many people say it's so complicated and there's so much nuance and there isn't one easy solution. This is one of the simplest things I have ever seen. Zionists invaded palestine in 1947-48. They have occupied it for 76 years while taking more and more land. LIKE imagine these both very intimidating men, one who looks like he goes to duels for fun, the other who looks like he's plotting ur death every second hes looking at you, just sliding little love notes to eachother that they giggle and blush and kick their feet over.

Like no one would believe u if you said that they were doing this with no proof, but now it's a well known fact that the table next to the window with a perfect view of the forbidden forest IS the lovers table! They even carved their initials (r.j.l + r.a.b) Which starts a rumor that's passed down to the 1st years which leads to people starting their own relationships by carving their initials in, which has since then been secretly charmed to vanish the carvings of couples who've been separated for any reason.

{extra tidbit but when rem comes back to hogwarts, suddenly people are shocked when the initials r.a.b turn into r.a.l and think it's a sign that he's come back to punish them for ruining their table (he thinks it's so funny and really sweet and even takes a picture with Colin's camera to show regulus)}

The Marauders Fandom -- "There is no canon 💀💀" and other rhetorics

Guess who's back in their marauders phase after 2-3 years of being dormant lmao?? ((spoiler its me lol)). Anyways, a lot has changed since 2021 in this fandom so I just wanted to talk about the direction i think it's going.

I remember in 2020-21 the fandom started to boom in popularity on tiktok --> esp with the rise wolfstar + atyd. I remember people were so suprised with remus' characterization as 'rougher around the edges' instead of the 'soft boi' thing, and how that influenced the new wolfstar dynamic. [Just want to add that the atyd characterisation is much more complex than this and its one of my fave fics --> I'm more talking about the fandom at large's reaction to this)

And since fandom is incapable of having two nuanced and characters who are not stark opposites,, their roles were basically reversed and now Remus is the toxic dom alpha male and sirius is the cute girlyboy twink --- which um,,, the oc-ification is so real its embarrassing but whatever (omg don't even get me started on jegulus 💀)). I just assumed these would stay as headcanons. But now we have people saying, that 'we barely know anything abt the marauders in canon' or 'isn't the whole point of fandom to make shit up?' which i have sO many issues with so let me just try and compile my thoughts into dot points for the sake of coherency.

'we barely know anything abt the marauders in canon' ---> First of all, Remus, Sirius and Severus are fully fleshed out characters in the og series -- why do you think people would care enough to create an entire fandom based on their backstories if they were 2d flat characters in canon?? Like bffr. I saw a post on here (forgot who it was by, let me know if u know!) that said, 'I didn't cry over sirius' death in OotP just for ppl to say that we know nothing abt him in canon'. Like, its just mind-boggling to me lol.

'isn't the whole point of fandom to make shit up?' --> Ok y'all. For a fandom to work, there have to be some guidelines, some kind of source material, some point of reference so people can build upon it and make content. I think we can all agree on that. One reason why HP is such a popular place for fandom is the world-building and potential plots/storylines. I see some people argue that jk rowling was a shit writer anyways so might as well contradict everything she says. Now, I don't disagree with that point in particular, Jo is a pretty mediocre writer and a terrible person. HOWEVERrr, I'd argue that it is a lot more fascinating when people expand or work on the concepts in HP. JK Rowling has a lot of great ideas but executes them terribly -- I love when fic writes do this, which prolly explain why I love atyd as it is still very much canon compliant but executes themes on class, disability and queerness that jkr could barely do in subtext. This doesn''t mean I only think canon compliant fics are valid. That's not the case! I think as long as the charcterization is consistent to the character and the particular circumstances/world they're in, its fine! In fact, I love seeing how the same character would function if in a different place! I also love seeing explorations of the magic and magic systems in aus or fix it fics (or even canon compliant ones) that still fit in with the canonnical system that we know.

I guess what I'm trying to say I wish the marauders fandom explored the world and charcterizations more deeply instead of creating shallow oc-fied version of the characters that fit into whatever's trending -- like just write your own book or smth lol -- booktok will eat it up i promise.

Also, kinda related kinda not but um,,, why are we romanticising fascists -- like babe no evan rosier is not your babygirl he canonnoically attacked mary macdonald and became a death eater soo... not saying that I wouldn't want an exploration of his character or even a relationship with barty -- (who's not some cool dairk-haired edgelord but a actually a cowardly fascist bitch with blond hair -- yes the blond hair is important) -- I'd just want them to be portrayed as the not morally good people they are. Like,, if u want to oc-ify a character like pick someone whos not a death eater or has much infor on them like dirk cresswell or frank longbottom,,, or ya know,, one of the MANY female characters in the fandom ((This fandom also has a problem with women and sapphic ships but that's a whole other issue lol).

I know this romanticisation of death eaters doesn't mean to do this, but it also ends up watering down the themes of oppression, bigotry, etc and leaves us with not nearly as complex characters. Also one of the issues I had with the og HP world is that JK will introduce concepts like wizard racism and slavery and then just like,, not really do anything about it or just have half-arsed redemption arcs whilst not ever actually exploring the root of the issue. And now i feel like the fandom is following in those footsteps unfortunately.

Anyways, i've been rambling for too long so I'll just leave it here. Sorry if this came off as mean spirited in anyway,, I just have a lot of thoughts™ and my family is sick of hearing them lol. These opinions are not set in stone however so I'd love to hear your thoughts on this subject! At the end of the day this is fandom and we're supposed to have fun -- so yeah !! thanks for reading if you made it this far!
