Here are some of the more bohemian things that take up space in my Book of Shadows:
Warded Cover Page: every Book of Shadows Iâve ever owned has begun with a cover page that is warded out the ass. The style and technique of these wards has grown and evolved with my craft, but they always involved an invisibility spell tied to my name and bound with a blood taglock. The purpose is to make the book go unnoticed by everyone but me (and anyone who I allowed to read it)
The Headless Rite: a goetic invocation of your higher self/heavenly energies
Channeled Deity Artwork: Similar to spirit writing; I find that I create my best artwork when Iâve invoked a higher power, and I have currently created devotional portraits of Hekate, Lucifer, Demeter, Persephone, and several other deities by invoking the deity in question and then sketching whatever comes to me
Channeled Spirit Writing: Attuning to the energy of a spirit, ancestor, or guide and writing whatever comes to me
Magickal practices and techniques of various cultures in my heritage
Pieces of advice Iâve learned from various witches throughout the years
Manifestation Page: Similar to a mood board or an intention board; fill the page with words and pictures of your goals and desiresÂ
Deity Sigils: I do find that some deities prefer to be evoked/invoked without the use of sigils, but for those that do have their own specific sigil, I record them here
Journals of instances where I have witnessed manifestation first-hand
Encounters I have had with spirits or other supernatural phenomena
Personal associations for herbs, crystals, colors, etc., and not just the ones you can find on Google
Spell Ideas that I find particularly intricate, beautiful, or devilishly enticing, but donât quite have use for or the time to execute yet
Lists of names of my ancestors and of historical witches
Recurring symbols that appear repeatedly in dreams, tarot readings, or in the physical world
Omens that appear to me, such as wild animals or strange weather
Record of spells that Iâve performed: I long ago gave up on the pretty idea of recording every single act of witchcraft I performed in great length, detailing the position of the sun and moon, the exact procedure, and any and all outcomes. Instead, I just try to keep a bullet list of every spell I perform with a very brief description. It shouldnât take me longer than 60 seconds to write max; very useful to reference, especially if a spell goes wrong and you donât notice its negative impact until much laterÂ
Brightest blessings, and best of luck đ

iâve written before about how uncomfortable it is being Jewish in most witchcraft/magic/occult spaces, but right now iâm feeling it particularly acutely as i try to navigate this queer & trans witchy renaissance we seem to be having (which is, i think, a direct response to the terror & loss of control we all feel in 2017 - magic has always been about resistance & survival to me & a lot of other people)
iâm tired. iâm scared a lot of the time. i want community & inspiration to help keep me going, so i reach for something like a zine that bills itself as an inclusive mix of queer & trans voices on witchcraft, resistance, activism - because itâs a group of marginalized folks, i (maybe foolishly) have this expectation of seeing myself in it, or of the editors being conscious of the many forms of cultural appropriation that happen in these spaces & working to educate about them
but what iâm finding, over and over, is two things: the first is that despite the fact that we exist in greater numbers than iâd ever have expected, there are no Jewish voices in any of the witchcraft-focused publications (indie or otherwise) iâve ever encountered. the second thing, that cultural appropriation of Judaism & other forms of pervasive anti-semitism DO exist in these publications, just makes the lack of Jewish perspectives more glaring
so in the interest of being direct, here are a few things the queer & trans witchcraft community (iâd like to ask the ENTIRE witchcraft community, but i am speaking to people with whom i share something right now) can do & think about to help:
include us. if you didnât think that any Jewish folks were involved in witchy communities, ask yourself why! is it because you thought Judaism was a religion only? or incompatible with ideas about magic? Judaism is an ethnicity & a culture - or more truthfully, a group of ethnicities & cultures - with long & complex histories of magic, mysticism & folklore. some of it is considered traditionally âkosherâ & some of it isnât! our relationships to that are individual, fascinating, & worth being shared!
stop throwing around the words âAbrahamicâ & âJudeo-Christianâ - especially when you want to talk about cultural values or historical oppression. 9 times out of 10, you just mean Christianity. yes, we share some text, but we have VERY different relationships to it. plus, if youâre talking specifically about the persecution of people believed to be witches, thatâs the history of Jews being murdered by Christians. honestly just do us a favor & remove âJudeo-Christianâ from your vocabulary, thereâs almost no context where itâs an accurate description of anything.
educate yourself about appropriation. i should never have to see someone mention âpracticing Kabbalahâ in a zine that includes no Jewish people. our mysticism is connected to our culture, our history, our faith - not only do you have no business taking it, what could it possibly mean to you without its context?Â
understand that anti-semitism runs deeper than current appropriation - if you engage at all with any Western occultist or âceremonial magicâ literature or practice, you need to learn its history. what does it mean that the 15th century grimoire youâre drawing inspiration from contains Hebrew & calls itself Solomonic, but has no actual connection to Jewish people? what does it mean that the person who created the most iconic image of Baphomet, something beloved by a lot of queer & trans witches for being androgynous, gave himself a fake Hebrew name? iâm not asking you to throw all of these concepts & traditions out entirely - i have something of a love/hate relationship with ceremonial occultism myself, i collect vintage & antique things related to it & some of it is really interesting - but please at the very least educate yourself about it. specifically, educate yourself about how medieval Jews were treated while non-Jewish occultists were incorporating (often misunderstood or mangled) Jewish mysticism, language & folk practices into their frameworks.Â
if youâve stayed with me this far, i appreciate it - i know this post is long & that confronting this stuff can be difficult, but i urge you to do some reading & listening before you push back. iâm writing this because i want to see things change - i want to see communities where people connect meaningfully to their own heritages & participate in actual cultural exchange & learning based in equity & mutual support.Â
iâm speaking to my own experience, but all of this goes for ANY marginalized culture/tradition being âdrawn fromâ in witchcraft communities without actually including members of said culture.Â
many of us got involved in witchy things because we felt locked out of mainstream religious practice due to a mix of oppressions - letâs not replicate that in our own spaces.
In magic it is true that you get what you ask for. Itâs important to ask what you actually want. Before you do any magic, phrase your purpose in a single, clear sentence. Get rid of ambiguous wording and mixed meaning. It can be as specific or general as you want, just be sure you know exactly what you wish to accomplish.
Before you do magic make sure to check in with your self. Is the purpose of your magic ethical to your beliefs? Is the purpose of your magic going to require more energy than you have to give?
Ethics
There are many schools of thoughts on the magical implications of magic. These range from the idea that magic is a sin, to the idea that magic should have no restrictions because the the very purpose of magic is to do what you want, and ever idea between.
It is important to find your stance on magical ethics. Itâs up to you to decide how you want to use your magic. Here are a few things ti consider when you are deciding whether to cast a spell:
look at the situation and gather as much information as you can from a reliable source
think about alternatives
consider your guidelines, values, and principles
test your limits and donât discount your inner voice
make your own choice. you will have to live with it â right or wrong.
No one can make your choices and you canât make someone elseâ choices. Ultimately your ethical decisions âlike your magic â comes from within you. Who you are â and who you will become â is something that only you can determine. It really is your CHOICE.
Limits
The limits of magic are complex and unclear, but there is a limit. Magic cannot break (or even bend) the ordinary laws of nature. Example: making objects float in mid air or making a duck bark. The effects of magical working will come gradually and naturally, not with a puff of smoke or the twitch of your nose. You will need to be patient with your work and try not to doubt the effect. The larger the area you wish to effect or the bigger more drastic the change you wish to make, the more energy you will need to put into your work. Your thoughts and ideas are unlimited but your ability to create the out you desire is limited by your personal energy. Before you try anything that requires energy be sure to make time to rest and recharge yourself.
Correspondences can be used in your practice to add to your magical power. As you practice more you will be able to detect the subtle differences between various correspondences. Pay attention to these feelings, the more you recognize them the quicker you will learn. In some workings you may find it vest to use one correspondence and in others youâll want to combine a little bit of everything. These decisions will come more naturally to you as you continue with your craft. You will discover along the way what works best for you and what doesnât. Eventually, you will discover your own correspondences. Magic isnât really about whatâs right or wrong, its about what works.Â
After looking at the purpose and symbolism youâve chosen youâll want to choose materials. Materials allow your intent to be viewed in a physical way. This can be overwhelming due to the fact that there are literally thousands of materials to choose from. Keep your work simple and convenient. Choose materials that harmonize with the purpose and symbolism you have in mind. There are plenty of resources to help you and with plenty of practice you will master this process.
There are some traditionally agreed upon associations for magical uses but donât allow yourself to become tied down to those. If you have a strong pull to a certain material then us it! Your emotions and feelings are tied to your magic, the materials you use will enhance it. You can always start with traditional correspondences for you materials until you find what fits and feel right to you.Â
Herbs
There are so many types of plants in the world and each one could have itâs own meaning and associations for magical use.Â
Correspondences for Herbs
Crystals
As with plants, there are countless crystals, some more well-known than others. And each one has a different purpose for magical use.
Correspondences for Crystals
Colors
Colors range from bright to dark, deep to light, pale to vibrant, regardless of their value or hue, colors affect us. They invoke different emotional responses and as such, they can be used in magic as well. The magic of colors can be used in many different ways, and the use of colors in magic is only limited by what you want to use the color for.
Correspondences for Colors
After youâve decided your purpose or what you want to have happen, decided what correspondences will help, and found the materials you need to bring your intentions into your physical realm, you are ready to work the magic. There are a few methods you can use to do this. This will depend on what form your craft will take. Whether you plan to make an amulet, brew a potion, burn an incense, perform a spell/ritual, or something else, you will need to learn how to combine the purpose, correspondences and materials.Magic cycles through various levels of intensity over time. Your magic can be more powerful, work faster or more effectively, when magical energy is high. Weâll look at few ways to figure out the proper timing for your magic.
Sun and Moon Cycles
The moon cycles through phases, from new to full and back in about a month. Magical energies are weakest at the New Moon. As it waxes the energies increase to a maximum when the moon becomes full. The energies will decrease as the moon wanes back to a New Moon. As such there are times when certain types are more appropriate than other times.
The New Moon: reflect, expand your consciousness, learn about your shadow self, work with your subconscious, dream work, let go of fears, change something radically, renew
The Waxing Moon: bless something you want to start, to increase health, to increase success, to increase wealth
The Full Moon: health, success, charging/cleansing objects, rituals in general, wealth, heartâs desire
The Waning Moon: get rid of a bad habit or sickness/disease, remove obstacles, finish something, banish, purify
The solar cycle is reflected in the change of seasons and repeats each year. Depending on latitude and other factors the dates of the changes in season may be different. Generally in the northern hemisphere the cycle of seasons follow the pattern below.
Tide of Sowing: Ostra to Litha beginnings and growth (spring equinox, March 21 â summer solstice, June 21) with a peak at Beltane (May 1st)
Tide of Reaping: Lita to Mabon completion and fruitfulness (summer solstice, June 21 â fall equinox, September 23) with a peak at Lugnasadh (August 1st)
Tide of Planning: Mabon to Yule preservation and taking stock (fall equinox, September 23 â winter solstice, December 23) with a peak at Samhain (November 1st)
Tide of Destruction: Yule to Ostra destruction and purification (winter solstice, December 23 â spring equinox, March 21) Â with a peak at Imbolc (February 1st)

There are tools that are essential to every religion. And they are usually ceremonial tools that aid in a practitionerâs spiritual journey. Buddhists have their bells, while Christians have their cross. While not a requirement to each one practicing a religion, having the tools strengthen your dedication.
Witchcraft has a wide range of tools, and most are usually those that are placed on an altar, and each almost always represents an element.
What you decide to procure will really depend on your beliefs and what you are comfortable with. It is also important to know that your tools should be treated with respect and reverence since each represents a divine element.
THE ATHAME An Athame is a dagger traditionally with a black handle that is used to cast a circle. It should never be used for cutting or to cause physical harm. The athame represents masculine energy and the element of fire.
THE CHALICE The chalice witches use can come in a goblet styles, or simply any mug and cup, and is used to hold water or wine, which is to be drank after a ritual. The chalice on your altar also represents the element of water.
THE WAND The wand that you use can come in any material that you feel a connection to: wood, bone, or metal. A witchâs wand is very personal, so much so that many Wiccans prefer to fashion themselves their own wand that suits their taste and represents their personality or character. Another option is to buy a Magic Wand. The wand is used to direct energies during a ritual, and represents the element of air.
THE PENTACLE The pentacle is a very powerful and protective symbol in Wicca. On an altar, it can come in the form of either a pendant or a platen. The pentacle represents earth, and is used to cleanse yourself, your surroundings, and all other items on your altar.
You can also use a Pentacle necklace on your altar.
THE CAULDRON Like the chalice, the cauldron represents the element of water. A cauldron can hold many things like water, herbs, incense, and candles, and is very useful when it comes to rituals involving burning and creating small fires. The preferred material for the pot-bellied cauldrons is cast iron. This is mainly due to the fact that cast iron cauldrons can take the heat and donât crack under high temperatures.
THE BELLS Bells are used to mark passages in a ritual. Try taking a look at spells, youâll notice most require you to ring a bell once or twice, and also ask you to ring your bell to mark the beginning and the end of a ritual.
THE CANDLES Candles represent the element of fire. A pair of candles also symbolizes the God and the Goddess.
THE BOWLS Having a bowl on your altar represents the element of earth. A bowl can hold water, sea salt, and oils. It is important to have a bowl that can hold sea salt, since a small bowl of sea salt on your altar can cleanse your other tools for magick, and also any possession you have that you feel is holding negative energy.
Smudging bowls are essential for magickal working.
INCENSE
Incense symbolizes the element of air. It is used to clear energy, cleanse, and call in energies.
THE CRYSTALS Each crystal holds a different energy. Crystals enhance the power of your spells, and keeping a variety of crystals on your altar will help you in various rituals.
THE BROOM A broom is very symbolic of sweeping energy and keeping negative and unwanted energies out of your space.
There are so many more tools in Witchcraft that you can use to enhance your spiritual journey and your magickal workings. What I mentioned are just the essentials, and you can add to them as you progress in your journey.
Before you begin using each tool, it is important that you clear and cleanse it. And make sure that you treat each with respect and care, as it represents a divine element. Some witches, including myself, donât allow others to touch their tools and crystals and supplies to prevent any unwanted energy from absorbing into these things. You can make the choice yourself for your items obviously, but keep in mind that you should keep your tools and supplies full of light energies!

âSolarpunks cherish nature, progress and science; the individual and the community.
They believe in a world that is green, colourful, and bright. It can be described as a literary genre, an aesthetic, or a movement. The key points are:
An emphasis on renewable energy, especially solar power.
A demand for technology and society to re-centre around sustainability, longevity, and balance.
A focus on decentralisation, community activism, social justice and civic empowerment.
A recognition that economic, social, and ecological injustices are all deeply inter-connected.â
- Sunbeam City
âSolarpunk is a literary movement, a hashtag, a flag, and a statement of intent about the future we hope to createâ - Ben Valentine
Solarpunk as a concept emerged from the imagination of authors and creators in the early 2000â˛s, and was shared freely throughout the internet. It originated as a genre of creative writing and artwork, but it quickly began to be implemented into decentralised left-wing spaces. Nowadays, solarpunk embodies a whole range of politics, activism, design and art; but at its heart it encompasses positive, grassroots community action and innovation as a way to prevent ecological crises.Â

So a lot of people I think are feeling that once you become a witch you need to do lots of things, but they arenât terribly sure what it is they are âsupposedâ to do. Here are just a few little ideas for things you could do, if you wanted to.
Write affirmations or prayers
You could write them for daily use (like a morning affirmation), one for each day of the week, one for phases of the moon, or different ones to encourage or bind emotions or help you get through tough days.
Doodle sigils for use during a later time
Be creative and have fun, as you are not ârequiredâ to use any sigil you have made.Â
Think about what kind of energy (elemental, herbal, animal, planetary, etc) you thin would best be used to charge each sigil
Create lists of magical ideas you would like to explore or write spells for
Donât worry about whether something is ârealâ enough or will work or not.
Make a list of tools you would like and tools you already have
Draw or write about your perfect ideal tools and what you expect them to do for you
Include herbs, stones, crafts, natural finds, and anything else you like
Create an inventory of things around you, in your home, or that you can easily find, for use in your craft
Write what your current beliefs are
Contemplate your current belief system and morals, and how you think magic works.
Make a list of the most important things you want to learn more about or explore
Write down your current talents and abilities and try to think of ways they can be used magically
Build altars
Draw ideas or create digital altars if you do not have the physical space
Be inspired and create them spontaneously or spend your time and research all the elements.
Try writing a spell - it doesnât matter if you know a ârightâ or âcorrectâ way. Just give it a try and see what you come up with!
Research what sort of plants are local to your area and discover what their uses are
Look up the medicinal and magical uses of herbs and plants you have in the house and on your property
See if you can discover what sorts of special crystals or stones are near your area or mined close by
Take your lists of magical items you want and research their uses, both modern and historical
Try to discover not only what an item is used for, but why, and how it became associated with those actions.
Research what kind of religions and magical traditions have historically been practiced in your area
Look up lore and mythology for your geographic location
Find what sorts of helpful books are at your library, whether they be related to religion, psychology, meteorology, mythology, history, gardening, herbalism, cooking, magical traditions, or anything else pertaining to your magical education.
Find a popular pagan or magical author and research them to understand the context behind their writings and get an idea of what others think of them
Create your own reading list of library books to keep you occupied
Research closed religions/closed magical systems so you can understand what is not available for you to use, and to gain valuable information on other magical cultures.
Choose 2-3 energetic exercises such as these:
How to send energy to other people
Energetic Check
Distance Charging
Texting Predictions
Energy Ball
Energy Cannonball
Witchâs Guide to Programing
Witchâs Guide to Grounding
Witchâs Guide to Centering
Witchâs Guide to Shielding (Shielding Masterpost)
Witchâs Guide to Charging
Work on a couple of exercises until you feel really comfortable with them and are satisfied that you now have that skill. Then try practicing others.
Spend 50-70% of the time figuring out how to make the exercise personal to you and comfortable for you
Spend 10-20% of the time learning how to focus and get in the necessary headspace to do energy work
Write (if you want) and/or perform simple candle, knot, paper, (whatever) spells as need arises
Try spells for bringing peace and calmness in to your space, giving yourself good luck, protecting against certain dangers, causing small events to happen, or binding harmful actions done against you
Identify unique needs you face in your everyday life and try to manage and control them with energy work
Cleanse your personal spaces
Learn floor washes and keep the recipes and ingredients handy
Discover what cleansings and purifications will work for your situation
Personally cleanse
Take a cleansing shower or bath with special ingredients or using the powers of elemental energies
Do healing/balancing meditations or spells
Clean your altars and tools, keep your spaces tidy
Leave offerings to any spirits you work with
Weed your gardens, check on your plants or pets
Update your grimoire or journals
Include personal experiences, new successes, or things that you have learned
Repeat appropriate prayers or affirmations
Spend time in meditation
You can try to clear your mind, magically make way for the day ahead, or do a guided meditation for preparedness or any other purpose
Draw a tarot or oracle card for the day
Use any magical oils or soaps as part of your waking routine
Including glamoring magic as you get ready for the day is a good way to practice
State your goals for the day with magical intent
Magically plan for free time you need during the day so it will be sure to be open for you
Enchant food by adding in herbs or spices with a little energy and a magical command
Enchant drinks by stirring, adding energy, and a command
Give small offerings to spirits you work with by leaving a little food left over on your plate
Magically affirm that the food will bring you energy
Repeat prayers or affirmations
Spend time in meditation
If you meditate when you get up and when you go to bed, try a sunrise or sunset meditation, or complementary meditationsÂ
Identify what successes you have had that day
Push away or transform any negative energies send to you that day
Add additional protective shields for sleeping
That was all I could think of. Add more if you think of some!
Witchcraft is a practice or a skill. It is not, in and of itself, a religion. It is not a faith (although some people may practice witchcraft in a religious sense). Anyone, of any religion, can be a witch. A witch does not have to be a Wiccan or even a Pagan. Though many Wiccans and Pagans are part of the witchcraft community, there are also many Christians, Buddhists, Hindus, atheists, and more.
A personâs personal craft is any collection of practices that they utilize to change their fate, see the future, get revenge, speak to the dead, heal the sick, and/or any number of other things that can be done through witchcraft. Witchcraft can (but doesnât necessarily need to) include divination, herbalism/wortcunning, blessing, banishing, kitchen witchery, spirit work, cursing, gardening, spell work, ritual, worship, astral travel, trance, and much more.

How Do You Become a Witch?
There is only one way to become a witch. Luckily, itâs very simple.
Step One: Take an interest in witchcraft.
Step Two: Start practicing witchcraft.
Step Three: Call yourself a witch.
Please Note: Steps two and three are interchangeable.
The great thing about witchcraft is that there are no rules. There is no big, white-robed Council to tell you what you can and cannot do. There are no punishments (beyond the legal consequences of outrageous things like human sacrifice; which is obviously not a good idea). Since witchcraft is not a religion there are no religious codes to tell you right from wrong. You donât have to work with gods (though, you can if you want to).
Witchcraft is a practice. Therefore, the only laws and codes you have to abide by are the laws set down by your government, your individual religion (if any), and your personal code of ethics and morals.
Lots of things bring people to witchcraft. Sometimes itâs a book, a movie, or a television show. Sometimes itâs a childhood dream that they decide to go after. Sometimes itâs music. Sometimes itâs family members or a friend. I, myself, was introduced to witchcraft by my family. My grandparents on my motherâs side of the family (and some of their children) practiced witchcraft. My father, who had been a friend of the family since grade school, was also introduced to the occult through my grandparents.
In the witchcraft community, I have encountered people who were drawn to witchcraft through popular movies and books. Iâve met people who came to witchcraft because they dated a witch. Iâve even come into contact with a few people who accidentally discovered witchcraft while doing research for their own fiction novels.
In the end, it doesnât matter how or when you started practicing witchcraft. What matters is that you did.
A Note About Communities
During your journey through the wonderful world of witchcraft, you will probably stumble into a community (if you havenât already). Communities can be a great way to meet other people of a similar mindset, give and receive support, and bounce ideas around to help your craft keep moving and growing. And there are lots of ways to find community. There are websites specific to witchcraft and the communities that embrace it. There are corners of large blog sites where witches have made their online homes. There are forums, online groups, in-person groups, and countless other ways to meet other witches who may be experienced practitioners or just starting out. If youâre feeling a little insecure, a little uncertain, or a little alone, a peek into a witch-filled community is a good way to connect and perk upâbut be careful.
With the sweet comes the sour. While witchcraft communities may be full of wonderful, experienced witches who can help and support you in your path, you may also happen upon the occasional Big Bad Wolf. Every community has its predators, and witchcraft communities are certainly no exception to that rule. Iâve been a member of witchy communities (both in person and online) for almost as long as Iâve been practicing; and Iâve come into contact with more predators and prey than anyone would ever imagine were lurking in the aisles between the spellbooks and Tarot cards. The types of predatory behavior can range from moderately manipulative to sexually sinister; so always be aware of the possible dangers involved in putting yourself out there.
How to Stay Safe In a Community
If youâre new to witchcraft or new to the idea of the community, Iâm sure youâre feeling a little nervous nowâbut I donât want you to feel that way! In fact, I wanted to put this note early in this post so that you, the reader, would be armed from day one with the some common sense ways to stay safe in a community setting. Here are just a few starting points:
Be skeptical. Skepticism is healthy in a setting that is based on the extraordinary. You donât have to believe everything a person tells you. Thereâs nothing wrong with double-checking or doing your own research if you feel that something is just not right.
Beware of manipulative witches. Be careful around people who will use things like alleged past lives, divination, or grand claims to get what they want from you, or to get you to stick around.
Again, watch out for mentions of fate or destiny. As nice as it is to think that everything is planned for us, there are people who will use this against you.
Always think for yourself. In communities, we tend to desire a certain level of peace and harmony. All too often, this results in the community asking the individual to change their way of thinking to a non-confrontational, passive thought pattern. While that may not sound so bad, this leads to a think called group think or hive mind. Not only does this result in a lack of individual creativity, it also opens the door for Bigger and Badder Wolves (like shared delusions and cult mind).
Donât let anyone force you into anything. It doesnât matter how much more experienced they are. Again, always think for yourself. Make your own choices. Donât let anyone pressure you into anything you donât want.Â
There are bullies, monsters, and predators in the world, but arming yourself with your individual thought and a strong resolve will help to protect you against them.Â
Ok, kiddies. Several of you have seen my post about the various resources and books I have in my Pagan/Witchcraft/Magick library and have asked âWhere can I download the PDFs from?â
Well, now that things have calmed down a bitâŚHere it is! This post will always be growing as I find more PDF books. I did my best to organize them according to category.
Happy reading, loves :)

As a witch with a chronic illness that can leave me extremely low on energy for weeks at a time, Iâm always looking for witchy things to do that wonât leave me exhausted. Even simple spells draw from your own energy pool so these are the things I do when my pool is running dry.
Cleansing - Â Negative energy always builds up in my space during a bout of sickness, after a good cleansing of my outer I find my inner much more positive also. Here are some easy ways to cleanse
-Light some incense -Fill a spray bottle with water (moon water would be handy for this), herbs of your choice (I usually use sage), and some salt. Then go around to each room and spray some into each corner -Cleanse yourself by taking a bath or shower and using gorgeous smelling products -Open a window and let the fresh air blow positive energy into your house
Sigils - Â When I donât have the energy for full-on spells/rituals I sit down and make some cute sigils. I try to make them specific to my situation, so when I am feeling especially down because of health issues I will make a sigil with the intent âMy health does not affect my mental stateâ or something similar. You can also
-Put a sigil on your pill bottles for a little boost (although magic is NOT a replacement for medicine and you should never completely rely on it for any health issues) -Put a sigil on your heat bags/hot water bottle -Draw them on your wrist -Draw them at the bottom of your tea mugs with honey
Beauty Products - Â Being stuck in bed feeling like death himself can make me feel, well, not awesome appearance wise. I found making myself feel nice on the outside can help my moral SO MUCH. I donât mean you have to get up and put on a full face of make-up, but these little things can make a big difference
-Rosehip oil spray. It smells amazing, has many magical benefits including health and feeling calm and sensual, and is super refreshing with the added bonus of being rly good for your skin -Scented lip balm for when your lips are feeling dry and sore eg I have pomegranate lip balm for when I want to make an offering to Persephone but have absolutely no energy. They come in sooo many flavors and scents, just pick which ones resonate with what you need! -Perfume/essential oils. Just use a scent that corresponds with what you would like to do, like tea tree oil for health or lavender for relaxation. Also, smell pretty=feel pretty.
Prayers - Â It can be hard keeping up appearances to the Gods when you have no energy so every night before bed, or generally whenever I feel like it, I say a little prayer. Of course if you are a secular witch you could just take some time to appreciate the things in nature/your life that makes it magical.
Tea - Â Itâs so nice having a soothing hot drink when your throat feels like a huge cluster of quartz has gotten stuck in there. There are so many posts out there about magical uses for tea but here is a coupleÂ
-Adding herbs for intent -Leaving a crystal in your mug overnight so your mug and tea is charged with intent -Blowing away the steam and visualize blowing away negative energy
Get to know your crystals - Lets be honest, I have so many crystals Iâve forgotten what half of them are. I like taking them out and surrounding myself with them and then picking them up one by one and focusing on its energy to re-connect. This takes barely any of my energy as I can do it in bed, and makes me feel warm and fuzzy seeing all my pretties in front of me.
Read/Study - This is what I spend the majority of my time doing. There is ALWAYS more to learn about witchcraft and I can do it while lying down. There are so many free witchy book pdfs on tumblr as well, just remember not to believe everything you read.
Witchy Crafts - This one could take a little more spoons than the others, but itâs super gratifying. To find some things to do you can scroll through the tumblr tag âwitch diyâ. Some things I have done areÂ
-Sewed cute tarot bags to hold my cards -Used thick cotton to make my own little necklace crystal holder -Bought gemstone beads and made my own jewelry
Visualization - This is in my opinion the foundation of all spells and a lot of the time I donât even use any other ingredients because that takes too much energy. I just focus on my intent and chant a little bit or sing and let the spell come to light all through visualizing it. I have charmed items, helped my plants grow and a lot more this way. I also like to visualize myself in a beautiful, flower-filled forest and feel the sun/moon pulling dark clouds of negative energy/illness out of my body to help when iâm feeling particularly unwell.
Meditation - My favorite spoonie witchy thing to do. It calms you, cleanses you, broadens your mind and senses and helps me personally deal with any pain caused by my illness. It can be done at any time and you really feel recharged afterwards. You can even light some candles, light some incense, sit outside under the moon, so many things.
So these are all I can think of right now, feel free to add on so we can all help each other out! Much love to every one of you đ
-Auoria
I want to start sharing more of my energy practice, here, and felt the best way to start doing that was to post an âintroductory primerâ. This meditation is designed to familiarize you with energy and its tactile properties. You can get some use out of this exercise regardless of your experience level (I still practice it, today), and itâs a great entry point for someone whoâs never even dabbled before. All youâll need to enjoy it is a comfortable, quiet place where youâre unlikely to be disturbed for roughly 30 minutes.
Tip: Donât try to follow along with this text as you perform the exercise. Instead, read it in its entirety before you begin. This way, you can avoid the distraction of scrolling or flipping pages during your meditation. That will kill your focus dead.
To begin, sit or stand in a comfortable position. Shake yourself out, paying particular attention to your shoulders and wrists. Do this until you feel loose and relaxed. Now, take a deep breath in, filling your lungs to the largest capacity possible. Hold the breath for a count to three, then exhale slowly, through your mouth. Concentrate on your breathing for as long as necessary to make it deep, slow and even. As you inhale, focus on the weight in the middle of your chest. Feel all the tension leave your body as you exhale. Draw your focus inwards, and feel your pulse as it travels through your body. Be still, quiet, and whole. Remain here until you are grounded and focused.
When you feel relaxed and grounded, raise your arms so that your elbows are up and away from your body. With your hands open, turn them so that your palms are facing each other in front of you. The palms of your hands should be roughly one foot apart, and one foot away from the core of your body.Feel your focus slowly travel from your chest, to your shoulders, and down through your arms. Sweep it down past your elbows and wrists until you are focusing on the palms of your hands. You may notice a tingling sensation, or a hyper awareness, in your fingers. Push this feeling out until you are focused on the space between your palms. The keyword is âpushâ. Feel a pressure building up between your hands; focus until that pressure is a dense weight.
With your attention still on the space between your palms, physically push them together. You should feel a slight resistance, or âbounceâ. Bring your hands together and back apart rhythmically, getting a feel for that resistance. Play with the energy you have gathered there, growing it, condensing it, passing it back and forth between your hands. Get a feel for its properties. This is âyouâ energy. Get to know it. Take as long as you need.
When you are finished, draw your hands back towards the trunk of your body. Press the tension you have built up against your chest and âbreatheâ it back in until nothing is left externally.
Repeat the earlier breathing exercise â inhale deeply, hold for three seconds, and slowly exhale through your mouth. Focus on your breathing until it is deep and regular. Bring your focus from your hands, back to your chest. Feel the weight there.
Slowly, begin rolling your shoulders. Roll your head on your neck, and shake out your arms, dispersing any tension. Shake your wrists and hands until they are loose and free. Feel yourself slowly wake from the deep relaxation you enjoyed earlier.
When youâre finished, engage in some mundane grounding activity, such as washing up, eating, or drinking. You might enjoy journaling your experiences so that you can reference them later on.
The firstmost rule is easily had: Red cards are good and black cards are bad. The secondmost rule shall bring greater fruits: It deals with the meanings of each of the suits. The Hearts count as love, family, and friends. Diamonds are money, wealth, means, and ends. Clubs shall mean work, callings, and plans, And Spades are the troubles that plague every man. The thirdmost rule toward number inclines; Just note the cardâs pip and read here their signs: An Ace brings beginnings, And Two gives exchange, Three shows things growing, But Four does not change. Five is the body, Its health and its stead, Six shows a path that the Seeker shall tread. Seven brings troubles that Fate has assigned, While Eight shows ideas and thoughts in the mind. Nine heralds changes, And Ten is the end, While Kings are the symbols of power and men. Queens are the emblems of women and truth, A Knave is a message, a girl, or a youth.

What Is The Point Of This Spell?: First, figure out what sort of spell you want to do. What is its purpose? What kind of spell is it? A glamour, for example. Might be the sort of spell you decide on. It may seem obvious, but remember to write this stuff down! I usually write these questions down and keep the whole spell making process recorded in my grimoire. This is my own personal advice, but something Iâve learned is to consider if thereâs another way you can accomplish whatever the purpose of the spell is without magick. I think of spells as last resorts to certain things, or as a booster shot of luck or confidence ect. But thatâs just me. The Timing: When will I do this spell? This could be based off of the day of the week/time of day and moon cycle. Astrology stuff if youâre into that. I also like to do big spells on the Sabbats so if you celebrate them, you might try that. How Might I Prepare?: Will this spell have certain crystals, herbs, chants, sigils, what do you need to do and collect? Remember to research any ingredients used. Especially if its a big, or important spell to you. To me, research is just more intent! Hereâs a compact list of some things a spell might involve as well, you might go through and decide what works and what doesnât. This certainly isnât everything you might put in a spell but it might help you narrow a few things down: - Colors used - Jars/Sachets - Sigils - Crystals - Herbs & Spices - Candles - Incense - Essential oils - Forms of divination, such as tarot, runes, or a pendulum - Knots - Chants - Magick waters, such as moon water What Will The Steps Be?: if you know you want to do a glamour, once again as the example, and you want to involve candles, think about what that will actually look like. Tips & Reminders: - Cleanse yourself, the space, and anything used. - Ground yourself. - Cast a circle, if you feel thatâs necessary. You donât have to though! - Set the mood. Do a spell past dark, light some candles, take a nice, long, hot, cleansing bath ahead of time. Drink some tea. Do some self care, or something that makes you feel as witchy as ever. - If something feels right, using this ingredient over that, a certain time of day, or anything like that. Do it! This is your practice. - If youâre not sure what to do, or what a spell should even look like, have a look at other similar spells. Before you even start writing your own, you might just substitute a few things because you lack ingredients or prefer something else from spells youâve found. - Wards are always a good idea - If sigil burning, or fire of any sort is involved. Be safe! keep some water nearby, do it on a fire safe surface, keep in mind how youâre going to keep this contained if something goes wrong. Enjoy and have a lovely day đ
This is a masterpost of tarot & oracle card spreads. None of them are mine; this is solely a compilation of various spreads found on tumblr. Iâve broken them down into sections to sort through them with ease. This is not a full list, but do enjoy the spreads listed below. Note: Witchcraft is NOT a replacement for medical care. Enjoy!

Salves are a simple yet effective way of applying the medicinal qualities of herbs. Theyâre the consistency of a cream at room temperature and portable for on-the-go topical application. By combining various herbal-infused oils, an individual can address a variety of ailments, from arthritis to asthma. Each salve can be customized to the individual to treat a specific illness or can be general all-heal tool in your first aid kit.Â
Herbal-infused Oils
To craft a salve, you must start with herbal-infused oils as your primary base. For this, there are two components: your choice of herb(s) and your choice of carrier oil(s). Some commonly used carrier oils are olive, grapeseed, almond and safflower.Â
At the end of this post, there will be an overview of common herbs and carrier oils so that you can make an educated decision when crafting your herbal-infused oils.
Here are two basic methods of infusion:
Solar Method (Folk Method)
Take a sterilized jar and fill â to ½ of it with your choice of dried herbs.
Cover with your carrier oil. Add around 500 IUs of vitamin E oil for every 8 oz. of carrier oil to prolong shelf life.
Cap the jar tightly and place in a sunny space - either outdoors or indoors. Shake it daily.
Allow the mixture to infuse for 2 to 3 weeks, or until the oil takes on the colour or aroma of the herb within.Â
Once the oil is ready, strain using a cheesecloth and bottle into a tinted sterilized jar. Store in a cool, dark place.
Slow Cooker or Stove top (Fast Method)
Place your choice of dried herbs in your slow cooker or pot and cover with your carrier oil. Add around 500 IUs of vitamin E oil for every 8 oz. of carrier oil to prolong shelf life.
Gently heat the herbs on very low heat (100 - 140 degrees Fahrenheit) for 1 - 5 hours until the oil takes on the colour and scent of the herb. You can cook it for longer at 100 F if you would like.
Turn off heat and allow to cool. Once the oil is ready, strain using a cheesecloth and bottle into a tinted sterilized jar. Store in a cool, dark place.
Do not use fresh herbs when crafting herbal-infused oils. They contain moisture and promote the growth of mold, especially if infused via solar method.
Wax
Waxes are frequently used in making cosmetics, body care products and salves: they help to bind and emulsify ointments and lotions. They also function as a natural hydrating ingredient and alleviate itching for those with sensitive skin.
The most commonly-used wax for crafting salves is beeswax; however, vegans and those with allergies can utilize carnauba wax which is sourced from the leaves of a Brazilian palm tree.
Once the herbal-infused oils are prepared, the process of making a salve only takes a few minutes. Here are the steps involved in the process:
On low to medium heat, warm the herbal-infused oil(s) in the top of a double boiler or in a small saucepan.Â
Add the wax. Once the wax has melted, remove from heat.
If any, stir in any additional ingredients of your choice, such as essential oils.
Pour into your designated container(s).
Soothing lip salve
3 tbsp beeswax
3 tbsp aloe vera gel
2 tbsp oil of choice
8 drops essential oil of choice (optional)
Salve for minor scrapes, bites and burns
1 ½ cups comfrey-infused oil
1 ½ tbsp coconut oil
Âź cup (55g) beeswax
Healing salve
1 quart (1 litre) of oil infused with equal parts St. Johnâs wort, comfrey, peppermint and lavender
Âź cup (55g) beeswax
Salve for backaches
1 cup ginger- and peppermint-infused oil
2 tbsp (22g) beeswax
First aid salve
1 cup St. Johnâs wort-infused oil
2 tbsp (22g) beeswax
Salve for rheumatoid arthritis
1 cup ginger- and licorice root-infused oil
2 tbsp (22g) beeswax
Almond oil, sweet: A fantastic carrier oil that contains fatty acids and vitamins A and E. Itâs an effective emollient for moisturizing both skin and hair and is easily absorbed by skin.
Argan oil: This is a staple in moisturizing skin and hair care products. Argan oil contains tocopherols, phenols, carotenes, squaline and fatty acids - itâs a truly luxurious oil.
Evening primrose oil: Prized for its health and cosmetic benefits.
Grapeseed oil: A common base for many creams and lotions - itâs the go-to carrier oil since itâs especially useful for skin types that do not absorb oils well and does not leave a greasy feeling.
Olive oil: The most commonly-used oil in cosmetics and hair care.
Safflower oil: A highly-moisturizing oil that soothes troubled skin.Â
Aloe Vera: Excellent for treating burns, cuts and scrapes.
Arnica Montana: These flowers offer strong anti-inflammatory properties. (Do not use in open or bleeding wounds. Long-term use can cause skin irritation.)
Black Cohosh: Offers anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving benefits. (Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Can cause gastric discomfort in some individuals.)
Blue Vervain: Relaxes the nervous system and offers reliable pain relief for rheumatism, joint pain and neuralgia. (Do not use during pregnancy.)
Chamomile: Antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic. (Do not use if on blood thinners or if allergic to ragweed.)
Chickweed: Wonderful for making soothing poultices to treat rashes, skin irritations, minor burns and itching.
Comfrey: Alleviates pain and inflammation; works well on cuts, scrapes, insect bites, burns and rashes. (Do not use on children.)
Echinacea: Antibacterial, anti-fungal and antiviral. (Do not use if you have tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, autoimmune diseases, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis or if you are allergic to ragweed.)
Ginkgo Biloba: Natural antihistamine, anti-inflammatory and great for treating allergies and asthma. (Do not use if you take monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI), selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI), or blood thinners.)
Goldenseal: Antiviral, antibacterial and excellent for dealing with minor cuts and wounds, sinus infections, respiratory congestion, sore throats and more! (Do not use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or if you have high blood pressure.)
Mullein: Great for first-aid treatment of minor wounds, burns and insect bites.
Plantain: Antimicrobial, antihistamine and anti-inflammatory; great for treating wounds, insect bites and minor aches and pains.
Sage: An excellent remedy for colds and fevers, hot flashes, painful or heavy periods, rashes and sore throats.
St. Johnâs wort: A strong antiviral; treats arthritis, fibromyalgia, muscle aches and sciatica. (Do not use if you take monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI) or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI).)
Witch Hazel: An effective remedy for acne, cuts and scrapes, insect bites, minor burns and sunburns.

Hi!đš Today I want to share here one of my magic salt recipes!đŽđ
First at all I took some fresh herbs from my little balcony garden and rock salt.đą
I used Parsley, Lavender, Basil and Marjoram.
Herbs magical properties are:
Parsley - increase strength, vitality and passion.Parsley is also supposed to protect food from contamination.đż
Basil - helps steady the mind, brings happiness, love, peace, and money and protects against insanity.đż
Marjoram - cleansing, purification, and dispelling negativity.đż
Lavender -love, healing, purification, sleep and beauty.đż
I used mortar and pestle to mix that all.đżAfter that I added my salt into glass jar and I left in on my altarđŽ.
I will add my herbal salt to everything that I cook.
Also I will use it for my protection spells and rituals.đŽ

Things Iâve Learned from the Moon
đ She will listen when no one else does
đ Your dreams are just as real as what your waking eyes perceive as reality. A different type of realism, but real nevertheless
đ When the sun goes down, beautiful things still exist. Theyâre just harder to notice within the darkness
đ Sometimes, we canât be prepared for what will happen. But, sometimes, we can.
đ You subconscious should not be feared, but embraced. It is what gives you the truth when you canât find it with your waking eyes
đ In order to grow and heal, we must be renewed every now and again
đ Just like the moon, people go through phases in life. People may admire you at your fullest, but the other phases are just as beautiful and worthy of your admiration
đ If you ask her which direction to take, sheâll tell you to follow the path your heart leads you down
đ Your emotions and sensitivity donât hinder you. Embrace & accept them, they are gifts from the Lunar Mother herself
đ She is the master of her oceanâs tides. You are the master of yours.
đ The people you surround yourself with are reflections of your own aspects
đ Have patience; this, too, will pass
đ Your inner truth must be sought
đ Illusions and lies are only temporary covers for what lies underneath
đ If you watch over others, the moon will make sure to always watch over you
đ Nurturing others is nice, but she urges you to start by nurturing yourself
đ The illuminated path is not always the correct one. Sometimes you have to uncover it yourself
đ If you ask her a question, sheâll often tell you that you already know the answer. Youâll find that she is right.
đ If she offers her advice, it would do you well to take it
đ Like her own, your power can be soft and loving. That doesnât make it any less powerful
đ Trust your intuition. It is the Lunar Motherâs guidance.
đ We all have a âdarkâ side. It is not to be feared, it is simply full of hidden truths
đ Your âdarkâ side does not make your light side any less bright
đ As she ages, she keeps her soul rejuvenated and young. She can help you do the same
đ The moon wants to help you. Listen to her.
And, finally:
đIf you canât find a light in the darkness, you are the light
đđđ
hi babes, Iâm back! wanted to make a quick post on my manifestation routine and some of the essential steps necessary for the law of attraction to be effective. for those of you who donât know what the fuck Iâm talking about, the loa states that our thoughts, beliefs, and intentions create our reality. there are various methods, of course, but this routine has worked beautifully for me! Iâve manifested an entire business, a dream job, $2k in 24hours, my soul family, & so much more! letâs jump into this shit!Â
1. get in a high vibrational state of being! what does this mean? it means focus on eliciting positive emotions and feelings at the start of this process. when we raise our vibration, shift our mood, weâre more in alignment with what we desire. in a high vibrational state, youâll feel bubbly, happy, and excited! do anything that you can to achieve a higher vibration! listen to music, watch some R.IP vine compilations on youtube, dance around your room, etc. do whatever the fuck you gotta do. struggling with depression or anxiety? itâs okay! this state only has to be maintained for a couple of minutes for it to be effective.Â
2. set your intention! what are you trying to bring into your life? to set your intention, all you have to do is write it or speak it out loud. pro tip: instead of saying âI want to manifest xyzâ, say âI am ready to receive xyzâ. the word âwantâ creates more lack and will keep you in a state of âwantingâ. another ex: âI am manifesting my perfect partnerâ vs. âI am going to manifest my perfect partner.Â
3. visualize your desire manifesting. this is the fun part! vividly imagine and feel what it would be like to hold the desired amount of cash in your hand. what emotions would you feel if you were given what you asked for? being able to truly envision having your desire is going to make it a reality in your mind and put you in alignment to receive it in the physical.
4. detach from the outcome. definitely the part that everyone fucking hates. itâs important to let go of any attachment and trust that the universe will deliver what it is that youâve asked for. surrender and allow it to unfold. donât stress about when, where, or how it will manifest. just trust that it will happen. this is the one area where most people get stuck!
5. act as if you already have what you desire. this is also a pretty fun part! how would you feel if you had everything that you wanted? probably pretty fucking fantastic. acting as if sends a message to the universe that you are ready.Â
6. & finally, take action! sometimes the universe will just drop blessings right in front of us, yes, but not always. youâre probably not going to find the love of your life if you spend all day in your house. youâre not going to become a famous actress if you donât get up and audition! the universe can do so much for us but we also need to work with it. donât just wait around for something to happen. search and be open to receiving the opportunities that you ask for.Â
THANKS, THATâS ALL I GOT FOR YOU BBYS !! hit me up with any questions and reblog with your manifestation tips or stories! share the good vibes. đđ

Been taking a break from drawing over the last few months, mainly for some badly needed holiday time. However, I have been inspired along the way by the beautiful sandstone pebbles and colours found around my local coastline. As a result, I have started on a journey full of pastels colours and lines. Here are a few examples :)
