sypnosis: in which you try to navigate your lover who doesn't know your arrival in liyue harbor.

includes: no angst/just fluff, spoilers to inazuma archon quest (prologue - chapter one), reader is from inazuma, comfort (?)

you decided to meet ganyu the moment your homeland made some major changes thanks to the raiden shogun.

as a vision-wielder, you couldn't afford to let the vision hunt decree get their hands on your vision. especially when you heard from your townsfolk that people will forget certain memories and ambition when their visions got taken away.

you prefer to give your soul over your memories of your soulmate.

and so, you immediately contacted your dear friend, thoma, who suggested fleeing from the nation with the help of the crux fleet.

after arranging a deal with beidou, you started packing your things and get ready to go to liyue harbor the next day.

however, your neighbor snitched to the vision hunters about you, causing a few hunters to barge in your home and try to take your vision away hours before you could go to beidou.

one thing led to another, you immediately fled from your home as a vigilante and a now wanted person in the vision hunt decree.

but you could care less if your archon is after you, you could care less if you're considered a criminal, all you care about is to get away from your home and go find your lover, now having a chance to finally meet her without a worry about going back.

you didn't bother telling ganyu about your situation, not wanting to make her worry. it wouldn’t hurt to make this a surprise, right?

your heart skips a beat as you step foot on the boat, listening to your lover's ranting about her duties in your head with a smile on your face. you wondered what she would think if she sees you.

would she gladly let you stay in liyue harbor despite your status in inazuma?

"i'm sure ganyu would let you stay with her," beidou reassured you when you confronted her about your conflicted feelings. "i know her. she's not the type to judge you for something you're not."

the captain's words helped you feel at ease a bit, but the doubt still stands in your head.

it wasn't until you arrived to liyue harbor when the negative thoughts stopped.

"you'll most likely find her by yujing terrace or somewhere in the jade chamber." beidou explains, stopping you from walking out of the boat for a moment. "if you can't find her, go to dihua marsh or ask one of the millelith guards."

and so began your journey in liyue harbor.

it didn't take you too long to find your way to yujing terrace, the moment you stepped foot onto the area, you started looking around, hoping to see someone who you think is ganyu.

"hey uhm," ganyu suddenly speaks up in your head, causing you to flinch in surprise. "i heard what happened to inazuma. are you okay?"

crap, how did she find out so fast?

you aren't sure what to say, afraid of what ganyu would think of you. should you lie to her and give her more reasons to possibly despise you? should you just suck it up and tell her the truth?

"...i'm uh, i'm okay, don't worry." you said in your head reassuringly, looking around your surroundings anxiously as you think about what to say next.

you then let out a sigh in defeat. "i'm in liyue harbor."

that was the last time you heard ganyu.

you began to panic when you couldn't hear her voice after your confession, frantically walking around yujing terrace as you try to call her in your head and ignore the strange looks people gave you. what if she didn't want you here? what if she's hurt?

"why hello dearie," you turn around and spotted an old woman behind you with a gentle smile. "i couldn't help but notice you walking around this area. are you perhaps in need of help?" she asks.

"have you met a woman named ganyu?" you questioned in a rushed tone. "i'm her uhm, soulmate and i came to this city for her, but i don't know where she went and i'm really really worried."

"of course, ganyu's a lovely woman." the old woman said with a chuckle. "she actually went down to feiyun slope hours ago. though, it's been a wh–"

without letting the elder woman finish her sentence, you immediately thanked the woman and run towards the stairs, your heart beating faster as you take a few more steps down. you desperately have never wanted your legs to go faster until now, the thought of meeting your destined other after waiting for so long has never felt so sweet.

you stopped your tracks when you spotted a blue-haired woman in the middle of the bridge near bubu pharmacy, panting from exhaustion.

it couldn't be her, right?

deep down, you knew the exhausted woman who's a few steps away from you. the description of your appearances of the two of you that you gave to each other long ago were similar to the woman's appearance in front of you.

you watched as the woman suddenly looks up at you, her eyes widening as well from seeing you.

"...ganyu," you try calling her in your head. "if you can hear me... please tell me you weren't kidding about having blue hair and horns."

the gasp the woman let out went not unnoticed by you, causing your heart to swarm at your discovery.

"y...y/n?" the woman– no, ganyu– asks, slowly taking a few steps towards you with a disbelief look plastered on her face. "is that you?"

you were standing a few feet from her, but in a blink of an eye, you somehow found yourself running towards her and tackle her with a hug.

everyone who was by the area noticed your encounter, now curious as to what's happening to the infamous secretary of the qixing as they watch you and ganyu wrapping your arms around the other.

"thank rex lapis you're alright." she speaks up as she relaxes from your touch, your heart flutters from the sounds of her beautiful voice. “i was so worried.”

"hello to you too ganyu," you whispered, closing your eyes as you continue to hug your lover with a relieved smile.

"i'm here now."

💓 First realizes it when she was napping with you.

You two had been becoming closer and closer, and more often than not Ganyu was really happy to spend time with you, her close friend outside work! You give her Qingxin, always make sure that she’s not overworking, and she feels comfortable around you to rant about her fears. And you listen to her wholeheartedly.

She feels so lucky to have you.

It’s just another day, both of you taking an afternoon nap. But for once, Ganyu woke up earlier than she used to.

And, well, it seems that your body had fell halfway along your nap, your head now on Ganyu’s lap.

Your gentle snores, the way your face held a never seen before peacefulness, the rise and fall of your chest. All of this was enchanting to Ganyu, and she couldn’t help but imprint this sight in her mind.

All of a sudden, there was this thought that passes through her mind.

All while fighting her sleepiness, since she didn’t sleep in the afternoon.

However, as she was about got Qingxin tea for an energy boost, she most definitely did not expect you to sneak up behind her and pick her up, literally.

she never does, not even when her body hurts from the countless injuries, not even when she overhears the harsh commentary of other generals, not when the almighty shogun scolds her for another failed mission against the resistance.

she does not cry. never.

but now, the shogun’s words ring in her mind — bring me their head or their vision. the choice is yours — and for the first time in her life, she can feel her facade cracking a little bit. she’s crumbling, piece by piece, just by looking at you.

you, oh you, with your dirtied palms and knees roughly hitting the ground in front of her. you, with a knife pressed against your throat by the one that swore that she would protect you. the one that said she would give your life for you in a heartbeat. your face is dirty and the hydro vision glisting at your neck makes her heart hurt. just yet another sign of how the two of you could never work.

“vision hunt decree,” her voice rings, loud and clear. if one would listen closely, they would hear how her voice wares for a second and a split moment of pain flashed through her face, “in the name of the almighty shogun, hand over your vision!”

“same as always,” you breath out. she feels a sting at that comment. she looks into your eyes, her face devoid of any emotions. all she can see is a gentle smile gracing your lips and your eyes soft and looking at her with understanding. she hates this, she hates you and most of all she hates herself.

you still have a chance, she wants to say. you can still come back to our side. you can still go back and stand by my side. i’ll convince her, we’ll tell you you came back to your senses. please.

“the resistance never betrays it’s own,” you whisper, as if knowing what she’s thinking about. “take my vision, sara. don’t make it hurt anymore than it has to.”

there is no place for love on the battlefield. especially not for the traitors.

Sometimes when the both of you cuddle in bed, when Fischl becomes Amy, you start tracing her wings, their outline on her back already engraved in your heart after touching it for so long

The first time you did it she was so embarrassed and she stiffened up really badly.

May throw herself into her Outrider duties to ignore that negative feeling of hers. Do expect her to be more clingy, more kissy, and more cuddly for the next few days though, in order to comfort this poor girl, even if you don’t know what is wrong. Amber just doesn’t want to lose her number 1 supporter of rebuilding the Outrider division. She wants you to be there when she finally does it.

💓She first knew it when you, her friend and fellow competitive glider, beat her in the Annual Gliding competition for a consecutive 3rd time that year. You always loved being with the wind, and had sworn that after beating her, the reigning champion, three times, you would leave Mondstadt and explore the world, and take part in grander gliding competitions in Teyvat, starting with the Annual Liyue Gliding competition that was up next year. She always knew that you would leave, and you would be gliding off, so really, why did she want to beg you to stay?

🎲It’s speculation, but maybe, before her grandfather left, her favourite color was white. In the manga, her ribbon was mainly white, and had more variation in color, and white really suits her! It’s like signifying her innocence, and her pure outlook towards life.

I believed it changed to red ever since her grandfather left, because red was the colour she associated with her grandfather and the Outriders. And the moment she realized that instead of waiting for others’ instructions, she should forge her own path, she received the Pyro vision that we all know she now possesses.

💚She’s strangely not! I think it stems from the fact that she knows that many people don’t like her in the first place, so to have you, someone who loves her, essentially tells her that, you really do love her and only her, so generally, she’s very chill when it comes to jealousy.

Still though, should someone flirt with you, she’ll instantly be straightforwardly pranking them as much as she can, driving them away. That’s not a good thing though, so do work it out with her, okay? She’s still human, with feelings. She can feel jealous from time to time as well.

🎲 Personally, I feel the reason that Hu Tao pranks others is because she wants attention from others. She reminds me of Usopp from One Piece, who parodied the Boy who Cries Wolf (a/n I should really get back to one piece it’s so good but idk where I am anymore)

Pranking, even if it attracts negative attention and gives her a negative reputation, would at least ensure that when she’s gone, she knows that there will be someone to remember her.

But if you’re her lover, she actually does not prank you that much. She does, just not that frequent, or that seriously. That’s because when it comes to you, you already give her your complete attention, no matter what she is doing. Her heart always beats so fast when you’re around as a result, grateful that there’s someone who unconditionally and willingly loves her for who she is, and the front she puts up.

💚  Wouldn't outwardly react or show anything. After all, if it happens once in a while or you have directly rejected their advances, then it should be fine.

However, if you didn’t successfully reject your suitor, Yanfei would begin to have doubts on your loyalty to her. If you start spending more time with them for some weird reason, that’s when she starts trying to find out what you’re up to something, not once admitting that she’s jealous. She fears the worst, that you’re cheating on her. This would lead to a fight that will remind her of all the civil cases that she’s faced, and it’ll be the most heartbreaking “case” she’ll ever have to take on. She’s too scared that you will break the fragile pieces of her heart, and she’ll be alone, like how her parents left.

💓- it’s when you two celebrated the Lantern Rite festival together. Back then, despite her knowledge about the law, she wasn’t so sure how to describe the feeling of butterflies around you, or how she was so conscious about your every movement around her. As she was born in the era of peace, while she was aware of the frivolous feeling of love, she had not fully experienced a romantic love, but only the familial love that her parents and the Adepti showered on her.

That night, as you both wrote your wishes on the Mingxiao lantern, she unconsciously wrote her wish while staring at your concentrated face, thinking about your own wish. She wrote:

“I want y/n to be happy.”

It took her a good minute to fully process what she wrote, and her face instantly turned as red as her vision. Her hands stretched out to wipe the wish away, but eventually stopped mid-air.

“I.. I can’t do this. I want y/n to be happy. But it’s just friends, right? Why do I feel like there’s more to it?”

“Hey, Yanfei, what did you wish for?”

“Hmm, nothing much, just something about law again,” she nervously chuckles, grasping at her skirt, trying to still her furiously beating heart. “What about you?”

“I wished for something for someone I fell for, so I can’t tell you, teehee!”

What was this pain? Didn’t she think of you as just a friend?

Deep down, she knew at that split moment. She was in love with you. But now, it seemed that she has no chance.

🎲- Yanfei has mentioned that should she not be a lawyer, she would be a rapper. But I personally feel that she’ll not be a really good rapper at least immediately, or even after a long while. Yes, Yanfei can speak really, really fast. This I cannot deny, for it is really really hot. Not only does she have to speak fast, she also has to take note of the pitch, the rhythm, and also, creativity. Yanfei strikes me as someone who likes freedom provided that there are rules that ensure such freedom is not excessive or too little, and well, I can’t personally see creativity when it comes to music to her, at the beginning. I feel that though, if she works with Xinyan, who most definitely has musical talent, Yanfei would be able to grow as a rapper, and become better eventually. It takes experience, but for Yanfei, who has always lived in a mostly similar lifestyle so far, I do not see such experience yet, compared to Xiao, Ganyu and Zhongli, who have experienced more events than her.

and in the end I could not save you.

“it’s not your fault” you whisper.

the blood seeping through your wound, now all over her clothes as well, her hands stained red with blood, not only yours but those she had slain to get to you. she was too late to reach you in the end though.

had she been a minute earlier—a second—could she have prevented this?

“please… don’t leave me….” she strained out, her voice weak, cracking, her tears dropping to your cheeks like rainfall.

you promised, you promised you’d always be together.

you promised her eternity.

when your body fell limp, your hand falling, your last breath exhaled. she knew you were gone.

screams and wails of agony came forth from the violet ruler. in their wake, crashes of thunder and lightning struck the ground as she hugged your body to her. wishing—willing—that somehow, some force would give you back.
