What is the difference between a Hex and a Curse?

The short answer is a combination of the amount of energy required to conjure it and the impact it has on someone’s life.

A Hex:

Requires the standard amount of energy used in a small spell

Is annoying a best to those affected

Is not long-lasting and their quality of life is not impacted

Ex: A hex so that the person stubs their toes on their own furniture all day

A Curse:

Requires a lot of energy equivalent to that of an advanced spell

Can have a negative impact on someone’s emotional and mental health

Has impacts on someone’s quality of life and can be felt for months or even years on end.

Ex: A curse so that the person embarrasses themselves at every job interview they have.

Okay so little witch tip: do not read tarot cards while you are upset. Here's why.

I've been struggling with reproductive/fertility problems. I generally have a rule where I do not do readings on myself because it can sometimes cause anxiety and you aren't always the best person to do your own readings. Out of frustration and desperation, I decided to read my own cards.

I did my first spread and read them. Not only did it not involve the question at hand in any way, it pointed me to a bunch of other possible problems. This is when I broke my other rule that I have for myself: never ask the same question more than once in a sitting.

I pulled multiple spreads, each one giving me confusing, stressful, and paranoid answers. I kept pulling cards with similar, negative messages of relationship struggles, along with reoccurring suggestions like "concentrate", "rethink your priorities", "now is not the best time to make decisions", "try not to dwell on the past", "you may experience difficulties soon", "a period of hardship brings new opportunities"

I gave up at one point, stressed from the negative answers. Eventually I took an anxiety pill. It wasn't until I calmed down, that I realized that the deck was trying to communicate something that I wasn't hearing. The negative, frightening messages were a reflection of my own paranoid insecurities. The reoccurring suggestions were the deck screaming at me to put it down until I could concentrate, clear my mind, and calm down. My wack emotions were grossly interfering with my ability to work with the deck and properly read them. Tarot decks are funny like that. They tend to mirror the person wielding them. The deck is only as good as the reader, and if the reader is putting off crazy negative vibes, the cards will only have that to go off of.

When I was finally calm enough, I redid the spread. It gave me a normal, straightforward reading about the subject I had asked about. It was that easy.

Be aware of your mental state before using divination tools!

Drawing Sigils: My Way

Dedicated to the anon who asked, thank you~ <3

My sigils are basically just a variant of the Witch’s Sigil Wheel. I’ve just added my own flare to it. If you don’t know what that is, it’s this thing, you kind find pictures of it on google pretty easy.

image

The first thing you’re gonna want to do is come up with your phrase. This will set the sigils intention. We’re gonna use the phrase “The Earth keeps me safe” for this example. Once you’ve got that figured out, pick out the words that are most important to you. We’re going to use “Earth” and “Safe” as our keywords.

(note: traditionally letters that are doubled are taken out, and only single appearing letters make the points.)

Next thing you’re gonna do, is draw lines from one letter to the next. You’ll be making separate lines for each word. Feel free to curve some of these lines, but i think it looks like a mountain or a crystal so we’re gonna keep it c:

image

And then the next word.

image

This is really starting to look like a crystal in my eyes! Now it’s time to add some flare. One thing I like to do is add circles around letters that have multiple points on them. And I add crossing lines to any other line that doesn’t have an angle or connection.

image

To really long lines, I like to add another line parallel to it.

image

The last part, make it personal! Add some sort of your own flare to it.

image

I played around with the crystal idea that I was getting, and added things to make it look sparkling and an arrow in the middle to represent protection.

Lastly I like to keep my sigils in circles, but feel free to skip this step and call it done! Here’s what I came up with!

image

If you make one, please reblog with a picture! I’d love to see ^u^ Hopefully this helps.

🌄Sunrise Witchcraft🌄

🌄Sunrise Witchcraft🌄

☀️sunrise is the best time for: healing, positivity, happiness, anti-anxiety/depression, spirituality, self care/love, air magic, cleansing, soft energy/ positive energy amplifier, truth spells, protection, and peace

☀️sunrise associations: citrine, lemon, peaches, ginger, orange, morning dew, orange calcite, coffee, bergamot, lime, earl grey, mint, sage, cinnamon, grapefruit, morning glory, marigold, saffron, calendula, daylily, daisy, black tea, and frankincense

☀️tips and things to try:

🌞yoga (especially sun salutations!)

🌻sunbathe in the sunrise to cleanse and charge with positive energy

🌞if you can’t wake up before/during sunrise, just leave your window blinds open to help you wake up naturally and/or to charge in the sunlight while you’re sleeping

🌻this is a great time for tea and coffee magic

🌞this is a great time to charge stones, especially sun-sensitive stones. (Here’s a post on solar stones)

🌻listen to and charge with soft or acoustic music

🌞 spend some time outside, take some deep breaths of fresh air, enjoy the birds chirping, flowers, dew, fog, and the beautiful colors in the sky that sunrise brings

🌻charge some lemon juice in the sunrise for extra boost of cleansing, positivity, and happiness properties (to make it stronger you can infuse it with mint or grapefruit, which both have similar properties and correspond with sunrise)

🌞if you’re comfortable with it, leave an offering out for sunrise deities and dawn sprites & other sun fae

🌻sunrise is a spiritual time, it’s the perfect time for meditation, exploring spirituality, astral travel, etc.

🌞here’s my post on how to connect to the elements in the morning/dawn
