Nah cuz how dare varric STILL BE TALLER THAN ME EXCUSE THE FUCK
Here to ruin everyone's day with this because honestly I find it delightful and fits into the feral and desperate need I have for Thedas to be experiencing mega fauna and flora.
Update: Just to clarify, the only height that is canon is Bull's. I realize that the wording for some was not entirely clear enough on that. That's why I didn't tag this as lore.
Going from shortest to tallest we have this:
Varric - 5'3 (160.02cm) [Source]
Morrigan - 5'8 (172.72cm)*
Alistair - 6' (182.88cm) [Source]
Dorian - 6' - 6'2 (182.88-187.96cm)*
Solas - 6'5 (195.58cm) [Source]
The Iron Bull - 8' (243.84cm)*
Morrigan:
Morrigan's figure isn't listed anymore, but I grabbed a screenshot and with the help of a friend who has her statue, Morrigan is 5'8 sans heels.
Dorian:
When asked about Dorian's height, David Gaider specified that: "He is as tall as the character artists made him." [Source]
So, without giving bias, I put Dorian's height at a range due to the fact he is the ideal proportions at 8 heads tall which by modern industry standard means he's 6'2, but by earlier standards means he's 6'. Since we can't really tell which height the artist is going for, I put the range. But considering current standards I would say he's 6'2.
The Iron Bull:
In World of Thedas vol. 2 p. 255 they have the description that he is 8' tall.
Everyone in the Chargers is someone who can look at an eight-foot horned giant and say, 'Yes, I trust that man with my life.'
If you're wondering if that includes the horns? Up to you, its not specified. If you want to do sans horns, they math out to adding roughly 5" to his had according to his gaming heads model. Which would make him 7'5 (226.06cm).
Endless list of my favorite characters: Varric Tethras - Dragon Age 2/Inquisition
↳ “I keep hoping none of this is real. That this is all some bullshit from the fade and it’ll just disappear.”
WHAT DO YOU MEAN VARRIC HAD BANTER WITH THE OTHERS 😭

I'm just thinking a lot about these back to back conversations we've been witness to...
The way sera fuels her one sided rivalry with varric. She does Not Care about what is outside her lane, she don't know shit about the fade outside whatever the chantry repeated all her life, but she respects people's strengths, and i think that's where she tries to find common ground in people. Like, even though she's surprised when vivienne doesnt recognize/respects her in return, she doesn't let that shake her. bc she's still
1. a mage and, 2. an asshole
but varric... he can do everything she can in combat, he's also funny, laidback, easy to talk to, The Head of a spy network that he makes run...
"So What" she says, unprompted... lol
Varric: Great, we’re in the Deep Roads. I feel myself getting dwarfier by the minute. Did I just sprout a beard?
Varric: (Sighs.) I hate caves.
Cassandra: Yes, yes. You hate the Deep Roads, and caves, and the outdoors.
Iron Bull: And slopes. Uneven ground. The dark. Pretty much all kinds of weather.
Blackwall: Also quiet. Most kinds of smells. Rain. Water in general.
Sera: And everything that isn’t hearing himself talk.
Cole: The smell of the sea. “Who made the ground vertical?” Mountains covered in the dead.
Dorian: Orlesian cafes. Taverns that are too tidy. Slopes of greater than ten degrees.
Vivienne: And Orlesians, Fereldans, Nevarrans, mages, Templars, the entire Merchants Guild, nugs.
Varric: Look, I have to complain, or you’ll forget I’m even here and trip over me! I’m providing a service.
They better not. I would NEVER recover...
Hawke: Due to personal reasons, I will be sinking to the bottom of the ocean in a large box.
Varric: Fenris said “I love you,” and you said “thanks,” didn’t you?
Hawke: The reasons are PERSONAL!
