Okay fuck it I'm done.
Remember that little rant I had a while ago about Jaehaera? And how she was just a little girl that deserved so much better?
Well today I saw this
And now there's an even bigger rant incoming.
I'm just flabbergasted, I don't know what to say except are you really this petty?
This person on Twitter commissioned a wonderful portrait of Aegon III's family, which looks great, I really have nothing against the artist, he was just doing his job.
Buut, as that user says
"Note a certain Doll tossed aside on the left next to Aegonš"
So yes, a team black stan was so mad at the mere suggestion that Daenaera would be cut from the ending of hotd that they commissioned a well known Asoiaf/f&b artist to draw Aegon's family with a little doll to remind us that Jaehaera is dead and thus no longer in the way.
I just have to say...
What is wrong with you? Seriously, I admit I've spent some money on hotd/asoiaf related things out of passion for the story, but I've never gotten to the point of commissioning art to spite people in the fandom that have an opinion I don't agree with.
Also, alright, you don't like the greens, that's fine! We all have our own tastes. But this? It's just sick. Wanting a fictional, traumatized 10 year old girl to be dead so badly you pay people to remind everyone that she's gone is on another level. Cause I firmly believe this was drawn only for that reason, not to actually show a wholesome family portrait.
I'm so done with these people. Do they ever go outside of their mom's basements? Have they ever touched grass? I don't think so, otherwise they'd spend their money for better things than celebrating a child's death.
This is the kind of team black person who will happily watch blood and Cheese happen and cheer when Jaehaeys is decapitated.
The sheer toxicity of this fandom is unbelievable. I genuinely haven't seen this amount of pettyness since the days before the aot ending.
Get a life, seriously.
P.s
I got this image from the r/hotdgreens sub on Reddit.
The hightower slay genes in action
Soo today I made the terrible mistake to look for hotd art on pinterest, and came across a... particular comment that genuinely led me to question my faith in humanity.
Oh boy
Where do I even begin with this?
I thought team black was at least cool with Hel cause she's literally the most innocent character in the show (except for the kids obviously) but apparently some blacks have beef with her too now.
Cool, just great.
I'm sorry but why? Why would she want to betray her family, her actual family? Rhaenyra never gave a flying fuck about her growing up, they have never even talked on screen! Why, why would she dump her siblings and her parents to join the cause of the woman who's side wants the people she loves killed? It makes no sense whatsoever. The blacks really don't understand that not everyone on Planetos loves Nyra like them and it shows.
Also if she really tried to betray her family for Nyra, I think Aegon, Ali and Aemond would have noticed Dreamfyre leaving King's Landing to go to Dragonstone and would have gone after her on Sunfyre and Vhagar.
And even if she somehow made it there, what do you think was going to happen? Rhaenyra was just going to welcome them with open arms as if she wasn't married to her "usurper"?
Best case scenario Nyra pretends to welcome them in and then Daemon sends his men to strangle Jaehaerys and Maelor as they sleep to get rid of Aegon's possible heirs.
I mean hell in the books Rhae put a fucking bounty on her 2 year old nephew's head that lead to his brutal death and they think she would just allow them to switch sides? Man these people really do not know how the game of thrones works.
When? When has it ever been stated that Hel wants to be queen? When did we ever get a dialogue where she talked about how she couldn't wait for Aegon to inherit so she could replace her mom as queen?
Never
Haelena spends most of her time on screen making prophecies of the future, playing with bugs and dancing with Jace, when has her ambition for the crown been portrayed?
When have we seen any hint of her desire for power? Wtf
Honestly after all this trash I've had to debunk being called names doesn't even phase me lmao. Go ahead, insulting others is always your last resort when you don't know how to admit that you're wrong.
Ohhh the sweet sweet irony of this statement .
Team broccoli doesn't acknowledge their rapist usurper, their war criminal prince and their whore queen Alicunt! They're so nasty!
But Isn't Daemon suuper hot? God he is such an obedient malewife, Rhaenyra couldn't have chosen better! He's not a pedo guys I swear, the young silver haired virgins' ages were never confirmed, maybe they were at least eighteen! And he totally didn't pursue Nettles sexually, she was most likely his daughter!
What a joke
"Alicent should have killed Aegon for what he did to Dyana. Is this how she defends SA victims?"
Has to be one of the shittiest takes I've ever had the displeasure of reading in the hotd fandom.
I genuinely cannot believe that a lot of people think this, like, are you guys insane??? Lmao casually saying this as if they aren't demanding a mother to execute her child.
I get it blacks, you are mad that Aegon raped Dyana, trust me, it upsets me too. It's horrible and unexcusable, I don't condone at all. It would be very concerning if I did.
With that said, what exactly were you expecting Alicent to do?
Tell all of Westeros that because the prince assaulted a servant ( I would like to remind you, a generous chunk of nobles has certainly done it as well to some degree.) he has to face justice and be executed.
Whaaat? Westeros is not in the 21st century, it doesn't work like that, by their standards it probably wasn't even considered rape! They would just think the prince had honored her with his attention and she had showed ungratefulness.
She would be punished instead for attempting to taint his image and have her tounge cut out or something. We're in the middle ages!!
Rape in Westeros is unfortunately super normalized, his execution would cause a shit show. Oh and sorry, how are you demanding a mother to have her firstborn killed?
Ali is veery disappointed with her son for many reasons, obviously including this one, and she's not shy to say it to his face, slap him and tell him he's no son of hers. But he is still her son, and she will always love him no matter what. There is no way in hell she would ever kill one of her kids.
Lmao if one of the strong boys did the same thing would you demand Rhaenyra to kill her sons as well?
Oh and also kinslaying. The circumstances of it are irrelevant, kinslaying is always considered one of the worst crime one can commit in Westeros. Hell even people who unwillingly kill their kin are cursed and ostracized, imagine what the realm would think of a mother, the fucking queen, killing her son.
Team black will really find any excuse to shit on Alicent, even if said reason is dumb as hell and devoid of any logic.
Couldn't have said it better
Sorry people this is gonna be a long post, but I needed to vent.
A lot of people in the HOTD fandom are so quick to say that everything Alicent does "against" Rhaenyra is because she's judging her for not following the "rules" of the patriarchy, but imo the anger and conflict between them is way more personal than that. After Alicent is chosen by Viserys as his new wife, Rhaenyra, showing all of her immaturity (understandable, she's so young) feels betrayed by Alicent and starts treating her poorly. Of course Alicent in turn feels betrayed by her closest friend cause Rhaenyra abandoned her when she needed her the most. She was too sheltered and comfortable in her privilege to realize that other women cannot simply say no, Alicent was considered her father's property and then her husband's to do with as they pleased. She is continuously raped by a man she did not choose to marry, forced to carry child after child and on top of that she is refused the only comfort she had, her only friend. She never had the luxury of choice, but Rhaenyra in her naivety, still punished her for it. Alicent tried to hang on, still caring about Rhaenyra and still trying to reconcile with her and being constantly denied and judged by her.
Then, the moment Rhaenyra did something that would surely put her in trouble, she lied to Alicent's face. Alicent believed her and defended her with the king, insisting that Daemon must have lied, that her father must have been misinformed. Viserys knew this to be false, he knew Rhaenyra had lied, but still she was not punished for it. Instead Alicent is indirectly punished again, losing her only ally (Otto is a vile person, but still for Alicent he was the only piece of home, of familiarity she had) because of Rhaenyra. Naturally when she learned that Rhaenyra had lied to her, it was another huge blow to Alicent's heart, because trusting Rhaenyra has literally cost her the only bit of protection she felt that she had left. It's only natural at this point, that Otto's claims about Rheanyra's character began to take root in Alicent's mind. Rhaenyra proved that she could not be trusted and Alicent wasn't about to put her children's lives in the hands of someone who had betrayed her so. She realized that no one would protect her, not Viserys, not Rhaenyra, so she must do it herself.
From then on things were bound to go downhill cause Alicent began resenting Rhaenyra as she still remained oblivious to her privilege and she benefited from it again and again, perhaps even using her father's affection for her to her advantage. And Rhaenyra (understandably) grew tired of Alicent's treatment of her.
In light of that, what happened with Aemond inevitably had a massive impact on their situation, especially on Alicent, whose faith in Rhaenyra was already broken. Her son lost an eye (taken by one of Rhaenyra's kids). Rhaenyra refused to even acknowledge the magnitude of this offence, so quick to defend her kids (and their birthright), who would never do anything wrong and were simply defending themselves (despite there being 4 of them against Aemond) And even in such a dramatic circumstance, all Viserys cares about is protecting Rhaenyra from what essentially is, the truth.
So in my opinion Alicent is not only saying "it's not fair" because Rhaenyra constantly did things that were not "proper" and was never punished for it, what she's saying is more along the lines of "Rhaenyra abandoned me, betrayed me, punished me, hurt me, my son and others to fulfil her selfish goals and nobody ever punished her for it or even had the decency to admit that she might have been wrong".
Alicent is not questioning Rhaenyra's claim to the throne because she's a woman, she's questioning her integrity and wether or not she's trustworthy, she's doing it to protect herself and her children, who she feels could never be truly safe as long as Rhaenyra rules with Daemon by her side.
And feelings like these cannot be simply dismissed, not even with an apology, one must really work on rebuilding trust in each other in order to fix years of betrayal and mutual hurt and resentment, and sadly they just didn't get enough time to do it.
aemond, to helaena, while lying face down on his bed and regretting everything: and then i called him dad.
criston, to alicent, crying tears of joy: and then he called me dad!
Hot take, but I personally think all the Criston Cole hate is bs. He's probably one of the most despised characters in hotd and the slander is so unjustified.
Like damn, are you guys really going to hate on him for despising Rhaenyra after all she put him trough?
I'm 100% certain that if the genders were swapped almost everyone would side with him.
Just imagine a girl that owes her dream job on a prince that is in a significant position of power over her. One night, after things don't go his way, he makes sexual advances on the girl. She feels like she has to sleep with him, because of how he helped her achieve her goal. Also because if she refuses, the prince may be enraged and make up a lie to get her executed. Afterwards, she feels dirty, she knows she broke her oath, and that if caught she would be tortured and murdered, so she deludes herself into believing they love each other and should run away together. At least that way, she won't have ruined her life in vain.
But when she tells the prince her plan and confesses her feelings, the prince tells her that he's not willing to give up the throne for her and that all he wants her for is sex. She's pretty much just his glorified whore.
I bet all I have that in this case everyone would call Rhaenyra an evil fuck boy misogynist who only sees ladies as objects to sleep with. But since she's a girl, then the fandom views her as an empowered, sexually liberated girlboss who takes what she wants. Even if that leads a man to almost committing suicide.
The fact that the fan base also has the nerve to call him a pathetic incel is just the icing on the cake.
Guys, I'm not sure if you now, but hating a woman for something that has happened between you is not the equivalent of hating all women.
Criston hates her and her only, while treating every other lady in the show with great respect, hell he worships the ground on which Alicent walks! And scolds Aemond for how he treats sex workers, 'Cause for him they should all be respected like the mother! He's probably one of the least sexist characters in hotd lmao.
Sometimes I wonder if Rhaenyra stans can't stand him because they genuinely can't fathom a man receiving her advances, being offered to be her lover, and rejecting. Like "how dare him break our queen's heart!"
Poor dude never stood a chance
I'm sorry but people hating on Aemond and calling him an asshole for "stealing" Vhagar instantly piss me off.
Like come on seriously.
Now I'll be honest and agree the timing wasn't the best.
(Claiming a dragon at it's rider's funeral is a bit out of touch.)
But people love to demonize him for it as if he had strangled a baby or something.
"Vhagar was meant to pass to one of Laena's daughters!"
I'm sorry when have dragons been passed down like a house? 'Cause last time I checked they are living creatures with their own wills. Your dad could tell your entire life that his dragon is going to you when he dies, but if the dragon doesn't want you, you can't exactly force it to accept you.
Unless you like being burned to death.
If Vhagar wanted to have Baela or Rhaena as her rider she wouldn't have accepted Aemond, heck she wouldn't even have tested him! She would have turned him into the dragon equivalent of a chicken nugget.
He proved his determination and resilience in riding her, a determination that had been born from being mocked and bullied by his brother and nephews for God knows how long!
The boy was frustrated by being seen as less by the other kids. Especially by Rhaenyra's, since they were bastards. As soon as he saw his chance to prove his worth as a Targaryen prince he took it and rode the greatest, most ancient dragon left in Westeros.
It was normal for the twins to be mad at him. After all they were two little girls who had just lost their mother, and I admit, Aemond reacted poorly at their insults, though after finally proving himself, I can understand why he got so cocky.
That said the fight was completely on them and the Strongs. They hit him first, and started ganging up on him. The kid was just defending himself, and remember, Jace was the one who took out a knife. Aemond may have taken a rock and threatened to harm them, but when you're up against 4 other kids all by yourself, you have get a weapon to try and balance out the fight if you want to get out all in one piece.
The greens, originally known as the queen's party, were the faction of House Targaryen and their loyalists who supported the ascent of Aegon II Targaryen as King of the Seven Kingdoms during the Dance of the Dragons and the years that preceded it. (in/sp)
